I just finished watching The Green Mile by Steven King. I have been a fan for years I think the first book of his I read was The one about the car, I can not remember the name. I did have every copy of his books, but they accidentally got put in my garage sale and of course were sold for 25 cents each I was just sick. I think my favorite was The Stand, but there were some real good ones. Any one out there have a favorite book by Mr King love to hear from you

I like the movies but not the books. But I wish I could sell my books like he does. He makes a fortune. [winterose]
I don't have a fav but I am a fan... Even wrote his book on writing... have you read that one? [blackkatdreamer]
Yes I tried but it was like a text book, and I lost interest. [RobinJ]
I have read a lot of his books, but have seen more of the movies. The last book of his that I read was "The Black House" and it was really good. He had co-written it with someone but I can't remember who, but they did a really god job. [Destiny007]
I think Talisman was actually much better than the Black House. Wolf was my favorite character from the Talisman. [Seaclans]
the one about the car was called "Christine" and it was a pretty good one! i loved the Green Mile but the ending was just so sad! i remember owning a copy of Four Seasons that had the story that Stand By Me came from..i think it was titled The Body...dont know where that book has gone now. And i really liked The Tommyknockers..though i did not like the movie. and i really liked the mini-series Kingdom Hospital. ive been told that the Dark Tower series is very good, but havent been able to get any of them yet..i think its called Dark Tower...its been said its King's magnum opus! so its got to be good lol! [CinderInMySoul]
as soon as i hit "post" it occured to me that im not sure IF the thing is a stephen king story!! im right arent i? its not a king movie...ah well sorry about that! [CinderInMySoul]
Im not an avid fan but im a 2 thumbs up with steven king's movies. the first movie that i watched from steven king was "Cujo". A St.Bernard dog gone wild... i remember when i was a kid and i watched it and getting nightmares at that time. [Corvin]
I like Stephen King, but have seen more of his films than reading of his books. I thought The Green Mile was excellent. He keeps you on the edge of your seat so to speak! I can't say that I have a favourite book Robin - everything he writes is excellent. [abbey19]
I kinda like Stephen Kings books, some more than others. :) I don't like the movies though, no idea why. I'd much rather read a book of his rather than view one of the movies made after them at any given time. Perhaps because I'd rather read about gore than see it, LOL (he did write some gory stuff every now and then, think Gerry's Game). Don't you think the Stand ended a bit... anticlimactic? I mean it took those characters like three weeks to get to their advresaries camp only to be bown to bits just like that? It is one of my favorite King's books though. The Cell it's a lot like it, you should read it if you haven't yet. :) [krayzee]
I love Stephen King. It has been years since I have read anything, because I have been reading so many others lately, but still he is an all time favorite. [charlene2350]
I loved his book Misery and the movie was great too. I have seen that movie The Green Mile A few times. I thought it was a great movie. That one has to be my favorite one. [sjohnson628]
That would have been Christine. Very good book/movie. A Steven King Classic. The green mile was one of the best films he's had from his books I feel. The Green Mile is my faovorite book(s) By King & it was actually a series of books released individually which made this story excellent to read to a point. I have read a lot od Kings books. I am also a V.C. Andrews reader and a;lso Clancy. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ [webeishere]
Actually I am reading a book right now as we speak. It is called Lisey's Story by Stephrn King. I love reading all of his books and watching the movies I read the books and my husbands and me watch the movies together since he doesn't like to read books. I used to have a bunch of them but my hubby tossed them out and my mom gave all the ones I had away to someone else. You could have sold them on ebay and made a nice sum of money which I had been thinking of doin with mine. We enjoyed "The Green mile even made me cry. The storm of the century, misery, bag of bones,Christine,Cell, Etc.. and many more. He has more then 40 novels and about 200 short stories won tons of rewards for his novels and short sdtories and alot of them made into movies. He has made a name for himself in books, movies and everything else. He or his stuff is a household name in many houses these days. I just love all his work even though "IT" scared me to death and has made my two nieces who are 16 and 18 still scared of clowns to this day. Don't blame them a bit..All are my favorites. I haven't read anything by his novelist wife Tabitha King though I should check that out she may indeed be a great writer to.. [mtdewgurl74]
Hello RobinJ, I am a Stephen King fan and have read all of his books that I know about. As Grandpa has already said to you, I believe that the book about the car is, "Christine." Like you, I very much enjoyed The Stand, and even though it was just a short story, I also liked The Shawshank Redemption a lot even before it was made into a movie. I'm so sorry to hear that your beloved King books were sold in a yard sale. That makes me sick just hearing about it. [Transdisc]
This is funny, I am just about to finish The Green Mile book. Of course I had seen the movie a long time ago, but as is usually true, the books are usually better than the movies and this is no different. I'm not a huge fan of Stephen King, some of his stuff I can't stand, but some is really good. The Green Mile is excellent. Recently read "Cell" by him, and that was interesting, I would recommend it to others. [jimbl75]
Stephen King is my absolute favorite author. The one with the car you talked about is called Christine. I have read the book and watched the movie so many times that I think I have it memorized. LOL So far, out of the novels I've read, The Green Mile is my favorite. And the movie followed the book pretty closely too. I have been working on building up my collection of his books. So far, I have 22 of them. I'm just working my way down the list. [Katlady2]
I enjoy reading Stephen King's novels and find that he writes a good story with interesting characters. The last book of his that I read was called "On Writing" and it was his thoughts and tips on writing. It was really quite informative and useful for both my husband and myself. My favorite book that Stephen King has written is "Carrie." It was the first book of his that I read and it had me completely involved in the story. I remember seeing the movie when I was a teenager and being terrified by it as well. [gardengalz]
Yes, I love Pet Cemetary, Insomnia, and Rose Red. [rogue13xmen13]
You are both off, it takes place in Seattle, WA. It is about a house that is haunted and it keeps growing. No one here remembers Rose Red. [rogue13xmen13]
ahhhh, Steven King. one of my favorites hasn't been mentioned. Pet Semetary. that one really freaked me out. i had been reading SK for many years, Christine, Carrie, the Langoliers, Lbrary Polithe, wow......so many, anyway, Pet Semetary really hit home because we had our own cemetary behind our house for all of our dearly departed pets. i like to read the book better than seeing the movie. i imagine a much different picture while reading usually then the movie portrays. sometimes it is difficult to watch the film after i've read the book because of this. have you ever read any books by him under hiss other name? i believe it is richard bachman. he used it as a different pen name to write other styles. wasn't bad, but he definately was designed to write horror. nice topic. [canjo13317]
yes I like Stephen King, I think I have read most of his books. I read them when I was a teenager, my favourite book is "The Stand", it is a powerful read. I cannot help but think that it might be an accurate prediction of the future for mankind. I haven't seen The Green Mile, I liked Misery and It also but the Stand is the one I have reread many times. [babykay]
Do you honestly expect me to pick just one?! LOL I've read Stephen King for most of my life, and there arent' many books he has writtent that I HAVEN'T read. My favorite of all time is The Stand, followed closely by his Dark Tower series, followed by anything he released as Richard Bachman (The Long Walk is absolutely brilliant!!!) And that car book you are thinking of? Christine. One his earlier efforts, but definitely showed his honest ability to write well and grasp the imaginations of his readers! [asunnys]
I think one of my all time favorite books from Stephen King was 'Misery'. It was a real page turner at the time and the movie that was made from the book was just as good. I admit that I haven't read any of his other books, but I've seen every one of his movies and they are all excellent. He is one of the few authors whose stories translate very well on the big screen. [wachit14]
i am also a huge stephen king fan, i loved the stand and the long walk. but i love all his books anyway. but lately they have gotten kinda boring. not sure if its just him getting old or what. [Kittenboy]
I have loved Stephen King books for years. I would have to say my favorite is the one that started the love affair, Salem's Lot. It was the first book of his I ever read. To me a lot of his books don't translate well into movies. For example, Pet Semetary. A great book but the movie was not scary at all. You should read his Dark Tower series. Some I haven't seen mentioned but are also excellant are The Eyes of the Dragon, Desperation and The Shining. I collect all his books. It took me years to find "Cycle of the Werewolf". [Mikki2]
Hi.... I love Stephen King books, I've read quite a few. There was one I tried to read that I really couldn't get into, I can't remember what it was called but i think it started with the husband or wife being tied to the bed. It turned my stomach so much that I had to put it away! He really gets your imagination running - I don't think I've been brave enough to watch the films! With reading if you get too scared you can put the book down! :0) [katkat3]
Hi! It's title is "Gereald's Game." I have never read it though. I will, one of these days. [geekcritic]
I have all his books and i downloaded from Internet a full collection films. My favouritest are The Firestarter and It. But there are some else i allways read with pleasure. [magica]
I have been an avid fan and collector fpr years, but I recently stopped after reading about 20 of them in a row (I think I need to widen my author interests, and so I'm now collecting more books that will help me; I'm an author too). My fave is "The Stand: Complete and Uncut." It's so great that you can't put it down although it has a thousand++ pages. My list of books owned, thus far, all of them are good: Dolores Claiborne The Eye of the Dragon THe Bachman Books Salem's Lot The Green Mile (serial) Carrie Cujo Misery NIght Shift there's more I can't remember right now... [geekcritic]
I love him! I've seen every movie, but unfortunately, books in english are hard to get here in Argentina and quite expensive, so I only read Pet Sematary, and in spanish. Besides liking his stories, I read almost every book I get my hands on, so I don't think I'm being too critical, am I? which other book by him do you reccommend? [marinarovi]
I love Stephne King but havent' been very happy with his last few books. He doesn't seem to have the same spark he used to. My favorite book is the stand and I loved the movie.I was told that they are making one his short stories into a movie called "The mist".I remember when i read,i was never so happy to see the sun shine when I awoke after finishing it,lol, [66jerseygirl]
I'm an avid Stephen King fan. I'm reading The Eyes of the Dragon right now. I just finished Cell not too long ago. I really liked that one. I love It and The Green Mile. I read The Green Mile when it came out in serial form. That was really frustrating because I would sit and read the whole book as soon as it came out and then had to wait a whole month or more for the next one. The movie was excellent. I really did not like The Tommyknockers or Dream Catcher. I didn't like the books or the movies. I liked Kingdom Hospital and Rose Red and the Diary of Ellen Rimbauer. I've read most of his books and seen most of the movies. I think my favorite character of his has got to be Annie from Misery. She was one crazy lady! She has to be the best! [wellamoose]
There are so many I love of his books Misery, The one with the clown thing, The stand. So many more. I love his movies too. The Green mile was a great movie. I own that movie and misery too. I have one that I keep meaning to read but my husband keeps putting it back up and I don't know where he put it this time. I couldn't choose one more then the other one they are all so good. The Green Mile touched my heart I just cried when they coffee to death. The gaurd that hurt that prisioner when he didn't wet that sponge got his just end that made me happy again. If we had a man like John Coffee in this world it wouldn't do any good cause like in the movie someone would land up killing him. Too bad they couldn't have let him live and make another movie and or book out of that one. [bwrattybaby]
Yes I have quite a few actully. I have Lindsey's Story, From a Buick 8, Pet Semetary and The Dead Zone. I loved reading the Green Mile the movie was good but the book was even better. [Shaun72]
I am a huge King fan. I've read The Gree Mile, Misery, Dolores Claiborne, The Body, The Shining, The Long Walk, Thinner, Cujo, Cell, Carrie, Pet Sematary, and I think a few more. I really enjoy King's works. My favorite has got to be The Green Mile, I read it in 2 days it was so good. :D [RushFan21]
My favorite Stephen King Movies are IT and Sleepwalkers. [cnetboss]
