Are You A Member In Your Local Library

Library is an unheard place to many people.Only the people searching for knowledge knows about libraries and its use.Do you have a library in your locality and enrolled as a member? How often do you go there?Do you prefer reading in a library than at home? Please share!

responses and comments:

Yes, I am enrolled at my local library. I dont go as often as i would like to. Sometimes its just nice to go and sit quietly somewhere out of the home. Other times I may just stop somewhere quiet on my way home from work & read in the car with no distractions. [Wizzywig]
Library is known for its silence.Sure,it is a peaceful place to rest for a while apart from reading. And finding a secluded place to read in the car is a good idea.Cheers! [srganesh]

no i m not a member i hate reading Njoy [Mathss]
Library is not a place to read just light materials. It is a place of knowledge. You can easily access any subject with the help of a librarian.Well,in this internet world, books seem to lose their charm. But the experience cannot be beaten up with computers and net.Cheers! [srganesh]

In my opinion, traditional libraries could be on the brink of obsolescence. When I say traditional, I mean libraries with tons of books and papers and nothing more. The internet is taking over the functions of a traditional library since you can have access to vast information at the comfort of your home. Local libraries however will never totally disappear since they serve as venues for study for people who would much rather do their studying away from their home and would like physical access to books and other documents. I myself used to go to libraries when I was very young but when I had access to the internet, I do all my studying and research at home. [sixclix]
Not everybody has internet facility and even if you have one it costs something whereas a library costs nothing. And book reading experience is totally different from surfing through net for information. As you have both experiences, which would you appreciate?Reading books from library or surfing the net? [srganesh]

I love the library! I'm an avid reader so I will get at least 3-4 books when I go to the library, which is at least every two weeks. I normally just read at night in bed, but it's every night and I read fast, so I still go through quite a few books. The public library is the best free deal out there. I'd be lost without it. [Ldyjarhead]
A public library serves more for common people who can't afford to buy books for their own.More over it is helpful for the students to get the necessary details related to their subjects.I am a fast reader like you and if the book is interesting then I will read in full sweep without taking a break for coffee or even meals.I love reading at nights without disturbance.Cheers! [srganesh]

It was many years ago I visited our local library. I prefer to own my own books,so I´ve my own little library at home [Pippi_Longstocking]

I am a card holder. We have three libraries in town here. I go to a library about 3-4 times a week. I don't stay and read there, I take them home. I am a book junkie and found a way to feed my addiction for free! [laglen]
Three libraries in your town!Sure, you are lucky enough. For me,we had a general library in our town earlier and later they converted it into ladies library.I was having 2 cards earlier but it is of no use now. Now,I found another library but they ask a little fees for every book.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yes, I'm a card-carrying bonafide member of our local library. I love our local public library system. I visit it at most once a week. I go there to pick up books and audio books. I'm a reader, and I read, depending on my schedule, 3-4 books a week. I don't really read at the library though. I just there to get the books, or I usually take advantage of their online services. I go to their website to manage my library account, renew books, request books and search for new titles. I also like their service where they deliver my requested books right to my doorstep. Our local library is just great. [wayz12]
Oh!You have audio books too in your local library! That is great. Why do you hesitate to read books in the library itself. It will be a nice place to read in silence and we can concentrate more.I appreciate their idea to supply books to your door steps.that would be a dream in our town.Cheers! [srganesh]

I wish I am. But we don't have a local library where I live. I have my personal collection of books though and add to them as often as I can when I browse titles at second-hand bookstores. While I was still in grade school and high school, no day passes by that I won't be borrowing something from the school library. I would always use up about three or more library cards in one school year. If only there is a library near us, I would probably be visiting that often as well. I just love hanging around books. In college, I would go to my university's library as much as I can, find a spot in a corner between the farthest shelves and sit on the floor. It's so nice to read that way. [writermom8]
It is sad you don't have a library in your locality. But that is nice you have your own collection of books. What is your interesting topic?Being a voracious reader to use three cards at a time, how can you control yourself now?Are there no libraries in the nearest places so you can travel and get them? [srganesh]

I am a member of my library and I'm not. I have a library card, but it expired and I am too much of a chicken to go up to the information desk to get it renewed. I still go to the library, but I have to use my mom's or my dad's library cards. They get pretty annoyed with me when I steal their cards. :) I usually go once a week. Not very often. But I usually check out four or five books at a time so I still have plenty to read even if I don't go there too often. I used to like ot read at the library, but not so much any more. They used to have these nice little secluded corners of the library with chairs there so you could read by yourself and have quiet and privacy, but they rearranged the library so there are now very few places to read and nowhere thats private. Also, one time I was reading in the library at school and I guess I had too much quiet and Privacy because I fell asleep! I only slept for about an hour and I'm pretty sure I wasn't snoring:) [kkthom3]
LOL!Fell into sleep at your school library! That is one risk,we have to count, reading in a silent library. The environment combined with the concentrated reading have more possibilities to lead into a nice sleep. But if you snore, then you will be laughed at. About using your parent's cards, why don't you renew yours in the mean time? You can do it subsequently at the time of searching for your books.Cheers! [srganesh]

I don't even know where my local library is here in Fairfax, but that's because I just moved here a few months ago and only go to the library at my university's campus. I knew where 3 of the libraries were when I lived in VA Beach, but I was never part of it. I usually just went to the library when I needed to do research and have sources from actual books and not just internet sources. [vanonas]
By now,you would have known where your libraries are.Using a library for research is easy compared to using internet for gathering sources.it is tedious to follow links and links to get the desired data in internet whereas,we can complete the projects keeping open some books related to the topic. That is cheap to compared to the cost of net.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yeah! I am a member of my local library but i couldent get a change to go there alot because i moved house a bit further away from the library and i dont have enough time. I would prefer at my home because its easier. [Mathurankan]
Even though you are relocated far away from your library, you can still find some time to spare on weekend holidays.Reading is a good habit and it is a gateway to more knowledge and we should not stay out with excuses. It is glad you have your library at your own house. But still a public library is loaded with more stuffs on almost any topic and you should not miss it.Cheers! [srganesh]

I do have a library card for hte local library. I don't get to go that often since my schedule doesn't always allow me to be in town when they're open. Although, if there's something I want, I just see if my library or one of the sharing libraries has it, and I put in a request for it. [CRSunrise]
No, they don't deliver my requests to me. I still have to go to the library to pick these items up, but at least I don't have to go to the sharing libraries to pick up the borrowed items. These items are delivered at least to my local library. [CRSunrise]

Hi...its a good habit to spend time in lbrary.well...im not a member of local library .mostly i read magzines which we subscribe .actually the library is very far from our house otherwise i would prefer to read in lib.we can read lot of magzines...books which we subscribe otherwise, why waste of money when we can borrow from library.... [karubod]
Yes!The charm of library remains in its free cost lending books to read.We need not spend anything in a public library and moreover we are provided comfortable room to study in silence. We can have many books or magazines to access easily in a library which would be a good pass time too.Cheers! [srganesh]

yeap,I love local library, but I have to work in every day without going there.I read books ten minutes in bed every night.I fell good. [kandy6023]
That is a good habit to read some books before bed time.It pacifies the mind and helps good sleeping mood. But why do you just spare only ten minutes?Do you feel sleepy reading books. Then it is a sleeping pill for you.LOL!Cheers! [srganesh]

Yes I am a memeber of my local library, when I go to the library, I would go to use the computer, so I could answer my discussion here in Mylot, I checked out one book and after I read it, I turn it back into the library, I was only going to the Library to use their computer because, my internet service was off at the time, I no longer go to the library.happy [notlistening2]
Oh!You do great research to answer here in mylot! And it is news for me to have a computer in library to search for data.In our local town, such facilities are not available by now and I don't expect it to happen in the near future. But the very thought ot have a computer with net facility amazes me.Cheers! [srganesh]

lol!!! I embarrass my hubby so much with all the books I take out. He literally wrote a computer program for our home computer so he could keep track of all our books coming and going. We usually have at least 100- 150 books/ videos/ computer cd's out at a time. I homeschool, so we have books out on various subjects for the children. Then we have books out about stuff we want to learn about. Then we have our pleasure books out and we usually have an assortment of videos and such. [eclecticeducation]
You seem to a be book lover so that you have to have a program written for the purpose. With lots of book you have to separate to make clear ideas of educative books and light reading books.About home schooling, did your kids enjoy it or they are missing their school life? Why did you prefer home schooling?Because of their little age or the schools are at a long distance? [srganesh]

in my college school, there is a large library.but i only enter one time.i donot like reading books in library, because i think reading books in the library gives me depress.so i prefer reading in home.reading in home is more comfortable. [septemberxue]
No problem! It doesn't matter whether you read books in a library environment or you like to read it in your house. The ultimate should be using books to improve our knowledge.By the way,why did you get depressed reading in library environment? Is it due to the silence there? [srganesh]

we have a small library in our town. it is only about two blocks away, so within walking distance. i do have my library card and do like going there. it is also nice that it is close, in the winter when the roads are snow covered i can still put on my boots and go to the library for a bit. i still perfer reading at home, curled up with a good book, my throw blanket and a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. [palonghorn]
It is nice for you to have the library so near to your house. And you are lucky enough to get easy access even in the winter through the snow covered roads. It will be nice to read books at house as you have mentioned.A good coffee or some snacks during reading boosts the reading.Cheers! [srganesh]

My family and I used to be members of the local state library. We used to go there to return or borrow books. The yearly membership fees were quite high for the whole family so we did not renew our membership. Instead we have joined the National Library. It is located about 90km away but it is worth it. No fees to pay, more books can be borrowed at any time, and a longer borrowing period. all the best, ninja rosdimy [rosdimy]
A frequency of once every six weeks. Members are allowed to borrow 3 books for a period of three weeks. After that we are allowed to make one renewal. There is no recommendation needed to become a member. Since anybody can become a member, we end up borrowing up to 42 books every time we go there. There are 14 members in my family, and we need to bring only the library cards. [rosdimy]

With internet around I think the days of library has come to an end. You get lot of material available freely on internet and this has perhaps I think has reduced the popularity of library. First thing, there are rarely any local libraries (apart from in colleges) and next is people more frequently use internet. Same is the case with me and am not a member of my local library. [ashish_answer]
Not all people have internet facilities at home and libraries are free to use. So,Libraries will not lose its charm in any day and it will not come to an end as you think. We have to spend more for net and have to be wise to search in the right path without deviation. With books, you can easily get access to the right topic and gathere the necessary information alone.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yes I am! Have been a member since age 12. I go there at least once a week. There are plenty of books whose contents cannot be found on the internet. I prefer borrowing the book and then reading at home. [LCHBheart]
I was also a member of our local library from the age of 12.I remember those days, when I use to borrow a book in the opening time and returning back before close time.I am a fast reader and the librarian became friendly then with my frequent visits.Like you,I like to read books at home only as our library at home town is always house full.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yup.. im a member of the library where i stay... I am always a member of the library near my place even if i move... just moved recently and got a new membership... and the library is bigger and better.... [j47lee]
That is a nice thing to be a member of a library wherever we go.A library is a place of knowledge where we can get them without spending money. And the atmosphere gives us more concentration for quick grasping.A library even opens new gateways of interest we wouldn't have dreamed of.About your new bigger and better library,I hope you will be more comfortable gathering wide knowledge.Cheers! [srganesh]

I like read magzine in the library ,it 's free .and i can read many of them with out spend any money. [sehihi]
That is why most of us seek libraries for.We can get almost all popular magazines, either weekly or monthly. And it is all free to read without spending money which is not affordable the other way. Moreover, the silence maintained and the secluded place to read comfortably adds charm to the reading experience.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yes I definately am a member of my local library. I have been since I was very young. My mom used to take my brother and I to the library at a very young age. I haven't been to the library for a couple years though. I have a library card for 3 different cities. Vancouver, burnaby and new westminster. I owe money to several accounts though. So I haven't been back for a while.sad [Monkeyrose]
It is good habit you inherited from your mother. She had done something nice for you and your brother, introducing the world of books at an early age itself.Reading books are like talking to the authors of different ages and sure their experience helps us a lot.Cheers! [srganesh]

I used to have a library card but I don't know if it is still good. I have no need to go to the library now since I have so many unread books at home. [BlueGoblin]
Why do you have so many unread books at home?Have you lost interest in reading books are more occupied to daily duties and job?Anyhow, reading books can ease your tension and pacify your moods.Recapture that experience and you will be thankful for me to tempting you again.Cheers! [srganesh]

I am a member of two libraries. One in Maryland and one in New York. I haven't been to the library in new york recently because I own a fee that I can seem to remember to pay.whistle But I hear libraries are very serious when it comes it late fees, so I should get on that quick. [mishastar]
Well,we have to pay some penalty fees if we fail to return the books within the specified time. That is imposed to avail all the members the chance to read all books. If you are keeping it up to you, then there will be another one waiting for it.So,return the books quickly and help others.Cheers! [srganesh]

I am a member of my local library which is small but useful for main stream media but they have limited topics because of their size so I use the Internet a lot too. I am also a garage sale junkie when it comes to books and buy them by the boxful. I read them, and share my finds with friends. [syeryn]
Yes!We can use the internet side by side along with book reading.Even thought a library is small, still it would contain books for every readers' interest. And that is really interesting to know your buying books boxful and sharing with friends once you have read it.Do you mind getting those books back or just leave them as presents? [srganesh]

Yes, I am a member of our local library and believe in reading to enhance knowledge. What is good in this computer age is that I can search for books in my library online and reserve them to pick up later.. :-) Derek [derek_a]
Yes, it is possible to sit down and study books in the local library, however I tend to do some research on study on-line, reading reviews of books I am interested in, then Ihappy - Derek [derek_a]

yup,i am a member in a libray.i get a lot from the libray.i usally go there half months, now i am prepare a computer text,my teacher send me a book list about that exam,i go to the libray and find the book.usally in my country we have to return the book in 1 months,so i have to hurry ! [littlek1230]
Oh!You have a work assigned related to the library and no doubt, you will be enjoying it.In our town library, the time limit to return a book is just 2 weeks. If I can have 1 month time like you,I would appreciate it more.Because some books are heavy(not by weight but I mean the content) and we have to got to the library to renew the period more.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yes, I notice I am more active now vsiting the library than when I first moved to my area four years ago. But back then I was not reading as much as I used to and am now. I also use the library to borrow movies, a lot of people think they only have educational movies or kid's movies....they have regular ones that are pretty current also. And I love the inter-library loan program.... Since I was a child I have been fascinated with libraries...the home of books. When I first stepped into my campus quad at NIU years ago I remember looking at our student library in awe...it was a beautiful building with glass and bricks....tacky carpeting on the inside and so many levels to it I was just in love. I spent quite a bit of time at that library while attending college and usually stayed until closing studying. [taface412]
This is news for me!I have heard of libraries with books alone and lending of movies in a library is an unheard idea.I have seen libraries in our school and college too, when I was a student. The school library is not opened for us and the period is taken by some other subject's staff.Only in college,we had access to library and only we used them for projects and seminar preparations.Sure, the libraries maintained in colleges are more neat and stylish compared to the general library.Cheers! [srganesh]

yes we belong and if we didn't there would be no money for anything else. We are both readers and books are just to expensive for us to buy. We go once or twice a week. [savypat]
It is nice you both have interests in reading books. And library is a place where we can read almost any weekly or monthly magazines apart fro novels and that too with free of cost. With more thirst for reading,we can't afford to buy all those books for own use.Libraries serves our interest in that way more.Cheers! [srganesh]

I do belong to my local library. I haven't been there in a while, but it sure comes in handy when I have a paper to write for a class. [AmbiePam]
Yes!Apart from light reading, libraries are found more useful if you have to prepare for something.A student can rely on a library to come out with a detailed work. But most of us don't see a library as a place of knowledge.I have one friend in my college days who like to visit the library to sleep in peace.LOL!Cheers! [srganesh]

I am a member of our local library. I love going there and could go everyday. I love books! I go on a average every couple of weeks. I think I'll ask about a job there. That would be so great! [SuzyQ12]
I bet you are a great reader and great lover of books.Otherwise you will not mind asking for a job in a library. If you get one you will be the luckiest person in the world. So many people stick to jobs only for money sake and if they can get what they like they will feel more happy like you.Hope you get your desired job.Cheers! [srganesh]

You betcha I am. I have three small children and they love to hear stories and read books. MY 6 year old is so smart that she teaches her younger brother and sister how to read books that she has learned how to read. It is like having our own tutor in the home ~ LoL! There are things of course that she doesn't say correctly or tells them that may or may not be the correct pronunciation of certain words. My son loves to attempt to teach his younger sister how to read as well. So it's almost like we have two tutors in the home. All three of them are being homeschooled as well. [hdjohnson]
So,reading habit is in the blood of your kids.Nice to learn that the young kids want not only to hear and read stories but are eager to narrate and teach what they know.It will be a nice time pass for you to watch them acting as tutors.Lots of fun should be there as well, because you can't expect what comes out from a kid's understanding. They sometimes let out wits which we can't even imagine.Cheers! [srganesh]

I am an avid reader and cannot function properly without the Public Library. I like to read so much there is no way I can buy all the books I want to keep up. :) This past summer our library was flooded. I lost access for 2 months. Now they are no where near what they were prior to the flood, however, there is a small branch location near my home and they have relocated everything that was salvaged to it until they can rebuild. I am so thankful that they are still able to operate as they have. When I moved, the first thing that I did after settling was get my member card. I think the internet has made libraries much more accessable. I, however, do not think the internet can ever completely replace all that the library itself has to offer. I remember my first library card as a kid and going to the reading room. That is what made it exciting to me as a child, now as an adult, free is all I need to hear. ;) [Angesviper]
Sure.internet cannot and will not outwit the book reading experience at a library.Glad to know you are a book worm like me.I almost read anything put in my hands. In think that is the way to become a scholar easily.LOL! And that is sad to hear about the flood that ruined the library. At the same time it is nice that they will reconstruct it soon.Books are great assets one cannot deny.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yes, I am a member, and go there at least once a month, because that is where my writing group meets. But even though I have a personal library at home full of books that I haven't read yet, whenever I visit the public library, I manage to come home with a book or two. There's just something about being there with all those shelves of books that makes me want to check out one! I have very fond memories of going to the public library as a child as well, so to me a library is one of the most wonderful places on earth. [bookworm64]
You are fit for your username bookworm64!Having a personal library with unread books still, you go for libraries too. That is crazy reading habit.I admire you for your thirst of knowledge.About the writing group, can you give me some more details? What are you writing about?Sure a library is a common peaceful place to meet people with like interests.Cheers! [srganesh]

I'm a library enthusiast. I've have always been familiar with the library. it's the storehouse of knowledge. If you wanted to know something or learn about something on your own, then you go to the library. With the Internet though, learning new stuff at a library isn't as necessary anymore. You pretty much just Google it now. [afdinki]
Yes!Library is a great store house of knowledge. And it will not lose its charm with its free of cost to use.Not all people can have internet access at their home and googling is not easy for them to search for a particular topic.Library moreover provides a a calm atmosphere where you can read with full concentration. You can stumble on more interesting books in a library too.Cheers! [srganesh]

yes, I am a member I was just at the library the other day getting some D>V>D's and a few Magazines. I go at least once a week, it is peacful there, when I am not near my computer, and I am in another town I go to the Library to get on Mylot. When I was the some Children came in to the Library and they were singing some Christms Carols, I thought that was niceof the children to come in and do this. I really enjoyed it. [marciascott]
So,you mylot on computers in library! Is it allowed to do so?Really interesting to know such things. In our little town library we don't even have a computer.Only we have big shelves with old books of all interests. But I like the atmosphere there.About the children singing christmas corals,is it not a library expected to be in silence?Cheers! [srganesh]

The city library is located within walking distance of our house, and a new, larger one is being built a block closer to us. Yes, I do have a library card and prefer to check out books and bring them home to read. Reference books cannot leave the premises, though. [bellis716]
I like mysteries, especially those that involve cats and or quilts. I also like to read about wildflowers native to the region. Right now, I'm waiting for the new library to be opened. It will be a block closer than the old one. [bellis716]

Yes, I love the fact that there is a library as a free resource for people to further educating themselves. The abd thing though is that there's people out there like me who mess it all up for other people by not returning their books on time. My books are months overdue and I have like five dvd's checked out. I will return them when I find the time though. I would rather take the books home and read them than to sit there and read. I also like the fact there is internet service available when you go there. [NikkiLuvsAlex]
Return the books at the specified time.By this you will be helping others who are waiting for it.Normally libraries impose some penalty for late returning of books. How much it costs you in your library? Some librarians take serious steps to even cancel the cards. So,please be precise ion time.Cheers! [srganesh]

Yes I'm a member of my local library which is the Otsego County Library. I go to the library every other week give or take. I prefer to read at home much more then in public places because I don't like hearing the noises that people make while I read. Libraries are awesome because they have so many books and so many different genres that we as one person would never have the money to buy. I love the library and plan to use them for the rest of my life. [jambi462]
A library is known for its silence. How did the librarians tolerate the people who makes noise?Have you complained about it earlier? Will not they take steps against them?If it is so,then we have to read the books at home alone.Yes!Libraries serve people like us who cannot afford to spend money on all books.Cheers! [srganesh]

I'm not a member in my local library, in fact, I don't know if there's any library in where I'm staying. I've been the national library once, and I don't really like the service and books provided there. So, I wouldn't want to enroll in any of the libraries here. But I like going to libraries when I'm in school, I find the books there are good and more relevant to us, I always find some good story books to read and also most of the time I went for reference books. Nowadays, I prefer to search for references in the Internet, and buy the books I like to read, and read at home. ^_^ [kaka135]
It seems you are far away from the habit of reading now a days.So you are not worried about the whereabouts of the library. And modern communication through internet have conquered so many people like you.But you have passed a beautiful childhood with story books from library. As a student you have reference books.Yes!Library is ready to serve all ages.Only we need to go there.Cheers! [srganesh]

My son and I are both active members in our local library. We visit often. They still have story time for young kids at this library. A new computer room for people to use. And books of course. The membership here is still free. My son and his friends use the library quite often. It is still a pretty popular place in our little town. I prefer reading at home. I do check out books and take them home to read. I do read at the library if I am waiting for someone, etc. though. [quinnkl]
You and your son are using the library at its full.It is nice they have a computer even for people to use. What fancies me the most is.you using the library as a waiting place for your friends.I haven' thought of it in this line.A great new use.Well, what is your interesting topic? [srganesh]

I am a member of a local library .Unfortunately I haven't been there in a while and when I do go there it is to surf the net when mine is not working .The role of libraries are slowly changing ,once they were a place where you could find information contained in books ,but now the information is contained in both books and binary. I think most persons now rather to search online for a book first before going to catalogue. Anyway I am being sidetracked ,with regards to reading at the library ,I have always preferred to read at my home, it more convenient and quieter .Yes sometime the library can be quite noisy. There is always some chatter who is doing more talking than reading. [ronnyb]
Most members speaks of the noisy atmosphere in libraries. You seem to be more advanced with internet usage in libraries but people are not aware of their basic manners. In our town library, silence should be maintained and if not the librarian will warn you once or twice and cancel your card if you repeat it again and again.Cheers! [srganesh]

I'm not a member, but I do keep meaning to go in town and get myself a library card - I just keep putting it off rolleyes The last time I was a member of the library I got run over by a car on my way home from there and had to stay in bed for three months, so I'm not in any rush to return - I've got the internet for infomation! lol [louise99]
That was very sad to hear. And the accident is disturbing your mind so that you are not ready to live the scene again.Internet is really a great source of information in the modern world. But it can't outwit the experience of reading books.Hope you will soon come out of the accident from your mind and continue visiting a library.Cheers! [srganesh]

My local libraries are two, the first one is near my home, specialized in aviation books, journal, etc. I go there 2 times a month. Second one is my campus library, as an alumni I'm still a member too and I go there 3-4 times a month. I prefer borrowing books than reading in library. But sometime I read also there. [genta77]
Nice to learn you have two libraries to visit and borrow. Some libraries are not maintained well and reading there could be a bitter experience. So,borrowing and reading books at home will be more comfortable for you.About the campus library how much it costs for your alumini fees? How many books are you allowed to borrow? Oh YES! I am a member - got my library card when i was 3 and had it ever since. I visit at least once or twice a week and typically have around 25 books out at one time. Its a rare occasion that i dont have a book or two on order coming in for me or books i want to read. When they come in the ladies give me a call and i go right across and pick them up. I would rather read at home because i can curl up in bed and read...at the library i get cold or people stop to chat and i dont get much reading done. [saundyl]
That was a nice thing you learned from your mother. And at the age of three,I think it is too early. But good things should be started at an early age and your mother was well aware of that. Then having an elderly girl to lead you to the library every Thursday is another good blessing in your life. You have to be thankful to them.Cheers! Thanks so much for your vote, I truly appreciate it! [hdjohnson]

There is a library in this town, yet I have yet to visit it since we have moved here. I would like to become a member, and go there more often but between time and transpo, that is not possible. [UtopianIdealist]
It is the curse for the people who use to shift continously depending on their work nature. You have to search for everything newly often. But it will be a good experience if you have a friend to help everywhere.Hope you soon get a friend and find some time to become a member in the town library.Cheers! No, I'm not a member of the local library. It's UGLY. Not only that, it lacks resources. I've never seen a library so outdated and neglected! Our government doesn't take good care of it because they don't train their staff well - the books are covered in cobwebs and dust and the tables in the library are almost useless - so are the chairs! Thanks for the response on my discussion! [oyenkai]
Sure, friends and relatives can be good sources of books. They would even strain for us to get the desired books for reference if we maintain the relationship properly. And internet is really a boon for people who can't access the libraries easily. But the cost of downloading materials matters.Nothing can equate the experience of a book.Cheers! I love browsing my local library. I wish I had more time to browse more often. But seems everyone is in a hurry these days and in a rush to go here and there and when you don't have a car and rely on others..you have to go where they go when they go.. I have read kids books to my little sister at the library she loves it. BUt my books that I would check out always waited till I got home so I could snuggle in and get comfy to read. In peace and quiet. [mtdewgurl74]
So you have to rely on others to go to the library. It is really hard to await others and adjust their schedules. But somehow you manage to go there and browse your local library. It shows your interest in books.Keep it up.Hope you will have more time to read your books at home.Cheers! [srganesh]

i was a member of British Library. but i found it very boring as most books are of no use to me. there are few other libraries like the City Central Library which are far off, so i dont find time to go there and spend some time reading books. but i have a good ebook collection, so the need for library is solved. i love the atmosphere of libraries. it is almost 15 years since I entered a library. may be i will think of joining one, but only after cheking their book collections list. [tulipstrader]
Fifteen years is really a long time to miss a habit. But your ebook collection is a good alternative to that.A library is supposed to have varied topics which may not be useful for everybody. And I can understand the boredom arising when you are left out without new books.Anyhow the environment and the atmosphere existing in a library will be remembered if once we had stepped in.Cheers! Library is a great place to be. Before when I'm still a student one of my favorite place is the public library. I always go there for research and read some newspapers and novels. In our public library you don't have to be a member to be able to read. Everyone is welcome no registration needed.lol [reckon21]
Don't you even need a membership fees? That is really great. In our town library there is a nominal fees which is very low and an introduction by an existing member is needed to enroll you as a member. From there on,we can enjoy the membership and only a little amount is asked for penalty if you don't return the books in time.Cheers!
