Are You More Of A Reader Or Writer

As for me, i think i'm more of a reader. I'd rather read than write. Though i have many many plots and ideas i just can't seem to get them to flow from beginning to end. lol I somehow get lost into another story in between. But for reading, it's so much more fun. *shrugs*

I am more a reader than a writer.I like to read various topics with great interest from my early childhood days.In my teens,I am addicted to detective stories and tried to write one of my own.But alas!I can't go into much details like a professional writer.I think it is due to my laziness. But I managed to send some short stories to weekly magazines but they all were returned. So,I stopped writing and remain a reader.Cheers! [srganesh]
i feel you too... =) [regal_aeros]

I would say I am more of a writer or trying to be. I have alot of ideas that I like to put on paper. I enjoy writing fiction stories. Some have been facts and put a little twist into it. You should try writing you do sound like you have it in you. If you get lost inbetween thats ok that part of it. That is just another writing style. I also enjoy reading a good book. I love any drama. I don't like the romantic mushy stuff. Hey you are a writer. You seem to write everyday in mylot. Happy lotting. [gossipzz]

well, me either! I'm more of a reader. I like reading novels, stories and articles of any kind than writing one of them. Although i have wanted to write articles but there were too many ideas popping out and i got confused where to fit them. LOL! Even when explaining something during quizzes when i was in highschool and college. Expect that i had one of the shortest answer, not because i didn't know it, but because i didn't know how to express my thoughts in words. [Lucky09]

I am more of a reader than a writer. Although a lot of people here and in my regular life want me to write a book. I've started several, but I keep getting stuck. I never get stuck reading a really, really good book. I have to see it to the end. But something I'm writing, I know the outline, the beginning, middle, and end. So why write it? I get stuck transitioning from one to another and I don't like to get bogged down with visual effects like describing what the characters look like or the room. I like simple scenes like a tent with a vendor and lots of versions of one product in it. An elderly couple at a table-that's good enough for me to write. So the visual readers who crave descriptions would starve with my writing. [writersedge]

I would say that I am more of a reader. I'm a bit like you with the fact that I have lots of ideas and plots but I just can't get around to writing them in any coherent form. I also get lost in reading something and then sometimes forget what my idea was. [cloudi]

me too.i read various books when i was young.if you read kinds of books and you will become sensitive person, you can cry for the dropping flowers and leaves, you can be happy for the little things, even a fine day makes you smile all day.for this there are lots of ideas flash in your mind just like stars sparkle in the firmament.so when some ideas flash in my mind i will write it down, maybe one day i will write something for myself. [peace001]

Although I am trying to be both, I still might have to say that I'm a little more of a reader than a writer. I really do enjoy reading and such. It's really one of my favorite things to do, but I also enjoy writing and part of me wishes I would do more of it. Part of me wishes I'd write more, which is something that I am trying to do. [dodo19]

I'm more of a reader also --- I guess that's why I'm not making much money here at myLot, LOL! Seriously, I enjoy reading other people's discussions and occasionally will comment on them. I've never been very good at putting my ideas down on paper. Even during high school and college I had difficulty getting my thoughts organized and coherent when they were written down. [Wilbet28]
LOL! We have the same problem. Other people's comments are really fun to read but we gotta write more so we could earn more! =)) [rodarose]

I'm more of a reader. I love to write too, but there are times when I can't seem to be able to write anything at all. You know, writer's block. There are times when I'd have so many ideas in mind, but words just aren't perfect to put them into. Sometimes I depend on emotions. Strong emotions trigger up the writer in me. Unfortunately, strong emotions only come once in a while. On the contrary, I can read anytime, anywhere, regardless of emotions. I really love to read! If I were to choose between hanging out and reading, I'd definitely choose reading. I used to hate it when people think of "reading" as a nerdy thing to do. When they see a person reading, they'd say something like, "Hey come on! Drop down that book! Get a life!" It's like saying that reading steals away our chance of being really happy in life. Well, they're definitely wrong because I'm absolutely happy with my books. Plus, reading is good for our well-being too! As Francis Bacon once said, "Reading makes a full man." =)) [rodarose]

Recently I have become more of a writer spending more of my time writing than reading, but I still try to find time for reading. Of course, some of the things I write on require some research so I do read some other things when I am writing. [antarcticpostcards]

I am more of a reader too. Actually, now that I think about it, I was more of a reader and now I am more of a writer.w00t When I was in college, I used to read a lot more and did not get much time to pen down my ideas, poems etc. But now that I am out of the whole college phase of my life, I have somehow started writing much more.rolleyes [cbeee3]

These days I am much more of a reader than a writer, although I do love them both. Having two small children makes it really difficult for me to have an uninterrupted period of time with which to write. I hope that when my youngest gets a little bit older that I will be able to find more time to write again because it really is one of my aspirations in life to be a published writer. But for right now I have to settle with reading to use as my imagination's outlet. [dorannmwin]

I'd say that I'm equally both a reader and a writer. I love reading all kinds of books, but I mostly favor the classics. I love writing all kinds of articles, fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Poetry is my biggest passion. [Keola12]

Thats so true, reading is always being a fun for me. I try to be a good writer but i dont think i am, never asked you guys about my writing (please suggest me on this) but as u say reading especially novel, story books are great feels like you are a charecter of a story, feels bad when a story is completed which i hate the most. [sabir_kns]

I am way more of a reader than a writer. I love to read when I find the time and find it very relaxing. However if I try to write anything I find to be very stressful and I am ready to pull my hair out!! I avoid having to write unless I have to for school or something. [alyssakenzie]

Hi regal_aeros, I do a little of both, it all depends on the day, now that I am here at mylot I really do both, I love this site for that reason, being able to share my thoughts/feelings,reading others is such a great way to get insight into what is going on in peoples lives, I will pick up a book in a minute if I need to make the time go by depending on the situation. Have a great evening happy [kitty42]

Hi there. I am more of a reader. But I write poems, I tried writing a story but same as you, I have ideas but don't know how to put them together. But then, I know I am not good at it. So I like reading more. I love reading novels of different authors. [0811mg]

I like to read but i'm more of a writer because it helps me sort things out and finger things out while i'm thinking. It helps me analyze things after i read them, especially when i'm online and when i'm managing my budget for the month. [bigplay]

I would say that i am more of a reader because for me it is boring to write but i love reading because it is fun to read the works of others because i can appreciate it much more than my own writings. [uchihamadaraXXX]

i'm a half half of reader and writer. and i need to read other's posts or threads to know that they are talking about then decide which posts i can response to or not. if there are something interesting on the posts i can become a good writer about that topic also. [celebratelifeh]

These days I'd rather write, because I get to do so little of it lately. I can read and read, but I haven't had access to my laptop to write. I've written several books over the last few years, so it's been driving me crazy not being able to write whenever I want. [xParanoiax]

I prefer to read than write. I guess those who rarely speaks in a way loves to read...I am normally out of sync while writing but I enjoy reading a good article [whyiswyh]
SO as I am . much of reading than writing. You got it there that I too barely speak but have the interest in reading .. [technoobs]

I think I'm more to reader. I like to read others articles. But sometime I like to write too. =) [kunizzul]

I am more of reading than writing as I need to have lots of opinions and much ideas from others. I enjoy reading specially of that mind twisting or of that is new on the technology as well as anything about information technology. I am looking forward to have much knowledge than writing. [technoobs]

I guess I'm a 75% reader and a 25% writer. I do love reading a lot especially those that interest me. I usually buy books and after I read it some time, I find myself reading it again. I have books that I already read for about more than ten times now. I dunno why but it seems that I enjoy reading it over and over again. A little weird yes. Haha. I also do writing poems. But it will take me effort and inspiration to write a good one. When creative thoughts suddenly rushed on my mind then that's the time I write good poems. ^^ [jenskye03]

It's hard for me to choose between the two. I like doing both for different reasons and at different times. If I am feeling inspired and have something I want to write about, I prefer writing. There is nothing worse than having to write when you can think of nothing to say. If I don't have anything to say or I'm not feeling too creative I prefer to read. Sometimes it's nice to follow someone else's tale and let them be your creative energy. [emma412]

I am both. It is very difficult to write or be writer when you are not a reader, because rich ideas came out freely when you are keen of reading. Most of the time, I try to read and research my topics first before writing anything. [jlamela]

I am an absolute reader of course. There's no way I could write a story or something. My writing skills began and ended with school days when we had to write those essays and précis and letters. Nowadays my writing skills are limited to mylot of course. [sudiptacallingu]

i never gave this a thought but now when i read your discussion i thought i am balanced when it comes to reading and writing. while reading i get some thoughts and i try to put them in words... and keep refining the words untill i m satisfied with what i have written. [abanerji]

I do love reading but have no skills on writings i done it and tried it several times no luck for me., Maybe it would take time for me to learn and develop writing. That's why I'm trying all my best to do here in this lot. Happy mylotting [riezen30]

I am more of a reader. It is hard for me to write, write need more skills. I always not satisfied with my writing. If you are satisfied with your writing, you will be shy to let others read. So I always read others writing. Happy mylot! [xichen7]

Hello, I am more of a reader than a writer, but I am starting to learn how to write by making my autobiography and attending some writing workshop. I find it more fun reading than writing fro one reason that you just have to connect the writers thought and fallow that imagination, while when I am writing more often than not I am lost in between of trying to create a plot, for their are various ideas that sits in, so connecting them is a bit confusing. [jenzai]

I am a big reader. My house is overflowing with books. I'd also like to be a fiction writer - it's been a dream for a long time. But I have never been able to complete any stories. Only poems. I write a lot for work, technical writing and marketing stuff. That is really easy for me but the fiction is difficult. Strange, isn't it? I guess that organizing and writing factual information rather than creating plots and characters is much easier. So I'll keep reading and also keep hoping that I can finally become a real fiction writer. [dld999]

I am more of a reader, I love to read, my mother was the one who introduced me to reading way back in grade school. But I am also trying to write, I just do not know where to start.. [aquim0714]

I like both reading and writing. It is like listening and speaking up for me.One cannot exist without the other. Thanks! [UltimateAsoka]

I love reading ,its my favourite hobby. But I don't think i can ever be a writer, coz I don't have time nor the inclination for that [Prabhalini]

i like to read a good blog now and then, but as far as reading goes, Id rather read nonblogs, but i like to write too. are most blogger more interested in writing blogs than reading blogs?just wondering out loud. [nicasio21hilariojr]

Hi Aeros. I love both reading and writing. I write a lot each day, since that is what I do for a living, but I also read something each and every day. I enjoy novels, and am in the process of reading a couple right now. I also enjoy magazines sometimes, or the newspaper. As for writing, I blog and I write articles every day. I also keep a journal and love to write poetry. For me, the two just go together, hand in hand. Have a beautiful day!happy Karen [PeacefulWmn9]

I'm also more of a reader . I'm very lazy to write down everything especially now we are living on the computer era . Reading is part of my life . I enjoy reading before i go to bed. But after i join mylot i become an active writer. I respond many discussions and make many topics for discussion too. I begin to think that writing is funny now. [grace118224]

i am more of a reader, i love reading books that interests me... if i write, i go blank and just stare at the paper, i cant think of anythings, somethings when i get into a mood, i can do essays and some explanations for a certain topic, but it depends on my mood... i prefer to read and read and read!lollollol [shhheila]

I'm more of a reader than a writer...though I used to be;) Reading has always been a hobby of mine since birth. lol. I always love reading and I used to think that if you're an avid reader then you're also a good writer. Somehow it didn't work out for me. But ever since I started getting serious with my blog, I noticed an improvement in my writing. So I guess it doesn't necessarily follow that you're a good writer if you read a lot:) Writing sure does take a lot of practice before you become a good one. So presently, I'm kind of in between. I still enjoy reading, and now I am enjoying writing:) [veronizm]

I am more of a reader, too. I like to write, but I'd rather be reading. [Bd200789]

I am both a reader and writer. If blogging is considered writing, then I blog most of the time. That does not mean, I do not read. I read the papers. I read on-line news-wires and also magazines.I do keep a journal where I write my thoughts especially on important days.I also read story books on trains and planes. [jonjee0203]

I like to write and have been on many writers courses. I was told on my first lesson that most writers read a lot, which was good, because I also read a lot. Reading give me inspiration about what I want to write quite often. At other times, I am content just to enjoy the book I am reading. happy - Derek [derek_a]

I would prefer to read than to write. It's much easier to read than to think and write. [cathrinekhor]

I think I am more of a reader as well. I can write some but I think I do better just reading. :-) I'm kinda like you are where if I write I'll be on one subject but will quickly change it to something else most of the time. Don't know why I do that but I do. [sweetgirl_k1]

I am more of a reader. I took writing composition in college and we had to write on different topics. It was hard for me to write what I was thinking on paper. I knew what I wanted to say but just could not get it on the paper the way I wanted. [happy6162]

Hi regal.I am more of a reader as well.Though I write a lot but compared to my reading it is very less.I love to read a lot of stories everyday. However I write only when something very nice, unique and something which deserves to be penned pops on my mind then only do I write. [Shames]

I am both. I am an avid reader which helps my writing. I have been reading more romance novels lately to help me write romance stories which is something that I wanted to try to step out of my comfort zone a little bit. We all need to step out of comfort zones, reading helps me learn how to do that. I see how writers like CHristine Feehan and Sherrilyn Kenyon write scenes and it helps me write mine. [rmuxagirl]

I am both but I think I'm more of a writer. I'm basically always thinking of things that will flow together or something that I could use in the future when it comes to writing but I am also a really big fan of reading. Without reading I wouldn't have as many ideas as I do for creating my own writings. [jambi462]

I love both, I love reading, and I also love writing. I think the two compliment each other. When I read, it gives me ideas to write about. [Djbrat]

I think I am both because I read as well as write more than anything else. I just love doing this. I love to write my ideas, thoughts and experiences here and in my blog and on various topics which help others too to find out something out of many knowledge and also I love reading because without it I cannot what exactly is going on in the word. Visit my website: http://blog.airakesh.com and I hope you will like it. [airakumar]

i didn't realize i'm quite lucky in that literary department. i love reading which led me being able to write in english. english is my second language and i'm also lucky that i, of course, naturally write also in my native language. i have articles published in helium and triond. you can look up my full name in google: ritchelle ann ona and read some of the articles i wrote. [Ritchelle]

I am more of a reader than a writer. I struggle a lot with writing.I wonder whether my writing would interest people. [in4net6rix]

I like to read and write. But especially lately i've been reading more than I write. As a matter of a fact it's really been several years since i've been into writing. [NikkiLuvsAlex]

I am more of a reader than of a writer when it comes to story. I had done a story before when I have a summer vacation during highschool, but is shallow film of mine. It is more on kiddie love story and never mind , it is not good. I love to read books and novels. I enjoy reading adventure books also like prince caspian. [grecychunny26]

Anymore, it seems like I am blogging more, keeping a journal, posting in forums. I have not had many chances as of late to sit and enjoy a good book. [UtopianIdealist]
