I'm reading now "The Da Vinci Code" and am only in the beginning I heard that it's a very good book.Have you read this book? If yes what is your opinion?

yes it is very intresting. written well.. but a little distorted the truth. However since it clais to be book of fiction. i dont think you should bother about that aspect of it. It could be a little disturbing for christians.. but then again you have to read it as you would any other fictious novel. in that case it is great. [vidasandi]

It really is a very great book. I've read the book myself and I really loved it! Though I think it's not that appropriate for children, I think many of the wee tykes are already reading this wonderful book. Sorry my friend, I don't read it. I only believe what's in the Bible. Christ (the Son of God) lived here on earth, particularly in your country (if he had lived here in the Philippines, I'll be very proud of it) in a form of flesh like us and never married anyone because his only business is to save mankind from future eternal punishment by turning us into righteous and God fearing people (through his teachigs and Holy Spirit that make the spiritual transformation possible) so we won't be tormented in hell. Hi there. Let me just give you the Biblical point of view of fearing God. It's not something like we fear our fellow human beings for anything negative. Fearing God is holy because we get to live in a way that is righteous in the eyes of God and God wants us to fear Him. Proof: Ecclesiastes 12:13 [13] Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. (King James Version) There are many other verses in the Scripture that prooves God wants it to be. Even though we don't like the sound of it, it's just our opinion and you know, opinion is not the way to go. We should always worship God according to the Word of Truth that is in the Bible. Rather than reading Da Vinci code, when we know it's just a fictional piece (purely man-made) and even a violation to the truth in the Bible (which is utterly a blasphemy) we should always turn to the scripture willed by God Himself to be written. I have read it and enjoyed it as a story. As long as you remember it's a work of fiction and take no notice of the stuff you've read in the press then it's a well written book which keeps you in suspense. It's not one of the best books I've read and I think all the fuss about it made it seem better than it actually was. Read and enjoy then try some of the authors other books. [nannacroc]

Great book - one of the few books that I could finish within 2 days. I could only read at night, after work. The first night, I read almost up to 3am - it was that interesting that I couldn't put the book down! So I left work early the next day, had an early dinner and continued reading until the end! I thoroughly enjoy it. I loved the clues and trying to figure them out before Robert and Sophia did. It was fast paced and I enjoyed the ride. I love to read, and i liked it way better than the movie version which I saw after reading the book. I also read Holy Blood, Holy Grail, which is where Dan Brown got all his information for The DaVinci code. A non-fiction book published in the 80s. Now that was interesting reading. [thelastwolf113]

Hi! Actually I was never able to read the book but I heard that the movie was based on that book so I think I could still give a comment aout it,.. Well based on what I've seen at the movie, I think that book is very intriguing and would really shower your head with questions... Some say that it will test your faith to God, others say that it is basically a fiction from a person's head and none of it is real. Well, I guess that it's up to you what you would believe in but here's a piece of advice, don't let anyone nor anything cloud your mind. Have your own decision and do things on your own to see if that decision of yours is right... [majestry]

I have read the book and saw the movie. The book is excellent, as long as you have an open mind and don't believe the zealots who condemn it. It is just a novel and not meant to be factual documentation. The movie was good too, but I liked the book better. That is usually the case in movies made from books because the book will give you more background on each character. Enjoy. [nova1945]

It was a page turner and decent modern fiction. Fiction is the operative word here. The problem with The Davinci Code is that a lot of folks seen to forget they got the book from the fiction aisle and they read a lot of nonsense into the book that was probably never intended. [irisheyes]

It depends on your taste, I guess... Personally I'm not very fond of Dan Brown's works in particulary. It was something in his style what annoyed me. At first I couldn't figure out what exactly it was but then I realized: the guy is writing like a journalist. It's such a plain style, you know, with no wit at all. I personally prefer witty, brilliant language, puns etc., so I found it quite dull. After that I tried to read "Angels and Demons" also, because I was told, it's better. Well, it wasn't. Anyway, you'll read and decide yourself. I guess I have just read too much in my life! [kiiizu]

I've read the book. Its pretty well-written, with well-developed characters and a fast-paced, adventorous plot. I know it has gained notoriety with its premise that Christ was married when he was here on Earth, but I think that only added to the popularity of the novel. Some people need to remember that the book is classified as fiction, and though some may actually believe that Dan Brown's research are actually true, I feel, that is beside the point. I started reading The Da Vinci Code while my husband was having surgery. However, I just couldn't keep the characters - what was happening - straight. I later saw the movie and really enjoyed it. I like books and movies that make you think out side of the box and this one does. [kyellis]

I have read the Da Venci Code and it was well so so for me. i do like a good mystery but I could understand all the hype over the book. It wasn't that well written as far as I'm concerned. It reminded me of those old cheap Private Investigator novels of a long time ago. any way I didn't care for it much. [deebomb]
I like "The Da Vinci Code". The book more than the movie. The story kept me interested for hours from start to finish with the clues and puzzles. I got the same feeling when I read murder on the orient express. It's not good for bedtime reading. You'll never get to sleep from the excitement. [charma1981]

Hi, I have read that book, and I would say that it was one of the good book I have read. It is page turner and interesting, if you are a catholic, you might question some of your beliefs, but of course if you have enough faith, consider it as a good read. You might want to try another book of Dan Brown which has similar topic. ANGELS AND DEMONS. Good luck and enjoy reading ! i've read 'the da vinci code' before, quite some time back though. it was way before the movie was made. i am very lucky to have read angels and demons first though. it was the prequel to the DC code. i find that the A&D is very well written and the plot was excellent. however, when i got to the DC code, it seems a little repetitive. overall, it's not a bad book especially if you have not read A&D. enjoy the book, cheers ;p [applefreak]

It is a really good book. I love the way Dan Brown styled it so that there are very short paragraphs that would make me want to read the next and I have ended up reading the whole book in one sitting as I couldn't put it down. The book is very well written and although a lot of people have criticized the book I do not that think that it is evil and full of blasphemy. It was more of a book which took all the good and interesting materials from different sources and made into a masterpiece. I know that we shouldn't believe it as a fact book because it's not. It was banned by a lot of religions but I think that those who banned it didn't get to read the book and just judged at as they pleased. The book never swayed my faith even a bit. It was written like a novel and will remain as that genre to me. And it did shake up the whole pillars of religion, so it really is a very compelling book. Oh, there were a lot of books published to contradict the book but don't we all see? Dan Brown got extremely rich because of this book (and others on the same theme) and a lot of other authors also got rich publishing their own versions of the book or their contradictions. All in all it is a good book. The "facts" written in the book may not be true but it was well worth the money I invested in buying it . Good book, really. lol [joyadalia]

Yes, I have read the book, two years ago. Though there were words I didn't understand and I had no idea about religion, I couldn't stop reading it. Once I see the movie, I don't normally read the book, as I already know the story, even if they cut out half the story in the movie. I have always believed in God and Jesus and I would not read the book unless your faith in Jesus is very strong because it does make you question if what you are reading in the Bible is true! I found that i had a hard time following it as I'm not really all that up on a lot of the religious references and my boyfriend spent a lot of time during that movie and another movie explaining a few things to me. I haven't read it, nor have I seen the movie, BUT, I've read heard endless chatter about it. Supposedly it's well written, but with its anti-Christian bias, I'd just as soon not bother, as there is too much of that out there already, & FAR too many really GOOD books that aren't full of lies. Oh, & scholars all agree it's based on bogus stuff, stuff that's repeatedly been debunked (& no, not just by the Church, but by HISTORIANS). Along those lines, if you don't like books that hate the Church, then avoid reading "The Golden Compass," as it is ALL about how "evil" God is. The first book doesn't make that at all clear, but the next 2 get progressively more profane & outlandish. And despite the critic's praise of the writing, I found it full of problems, literarily. It is a great fictional book , Dan Brown is a good story weaver, he managed to put both facts and false informations, just to boggle the minds of readers as well as to confused us about what is truth and false behind these biblical stories. I think that's why it became a controversial book. Yes. I try to read the book before the movie. The book is better. I'm a Christian who recognizes that God gave us a mind to interpret the actions of men. While Brown wrote a fictional interpretation of conspiracy, men, including popes, of the catholic church have dupped their followers for power. Really, what we call history is full of lies. As past Prime Minister Winston Churchill said, "The victors write the history." Let me expand that sentence: The victors conspire and distort history to increase their power over the people. While Brown's story is "fiction" the premise has support in documented historical distortion that is perpetuated by the catholic church and others. Ciao Steve Slaton P.S. Yes as2006 I did read the book. I loved it and found it hard to put down. I also saw the movie but I didn't think the movie was anywhere near as good as the book. You just have to remember that the book is fiction and it plainly states that it is fiction. When you read it, knowing that it is fiction then it is just thoroughly entertaining. I have a lot of trouble getting into books that everybody lauds as brilliant and fawns over. I never got around to watching the movie and I doubt I'll read the book. It all seems too derivative for me. I read and enjoyed Angels and Demons but it wasn't any great feat of literary supremacy. No doubt you'll enjoy it at least moderately, if everybody else did. I am a dan brown fan although i didn't like angles and demons much but da vinci code is certainly one of his best works. The pace with which the story moves is quite mesmerizing. The unexpected (sometimes unbelievable as well) twists and turns, again making up stories with intelligence agencies and top level organizations and therefore high Tech gadgets involved makes all possible.And That gives him a freedom (and contraversial publicity as well). It is a brilliant book. It entertains all the way through with a great plot and many twists and turns. If you have seen the movie you must read the book as it is a little differant. There are many interesting theories and information about Christianity and Da Vinci. I loved it. It is so much better than the film. Just remember that in history fact is pretty much a guess at what might of happend and it is a work of fiction, even though it claims that some things are fact the pages of the book from the beginig are fiction. Just enjoy and try to work out who the master is ; ) [lannav]

hi as2006! happy i have read Da Vinci Code a long time ago. i think it was last last year. its a very good book and very controversial. it presented a lot of things that veers away from the content of the bible. it was challenging in the sense that your faith and belief would be put into test. for me it was just pure entertainment. i think it depends on the reader if he or she would let the book affect her. for me, it was a really interesting book. it made me read Dan Brown's other works. happy [secretbear]

I managed to read the book up to the half way mark before the movie came out. It was good. The mystery and the suspense the book generated, it was quite a good read. Then when the movie came out, I went for the movie instead. And the book has been sitting on the corner of my shelf ever since. Comparing the book and the movie, I would say, stick with the book. There are much more details on the book that could not be shown on the movie. Things like what the characters are thinking, what they are analysing in their minds are not really depicted in the movie. It is a good read. I will try to finish my book once I get the busy stuff out of my in tray! lol [ahgong]
