i was never a very naughty child, never read adult stuff or did things that i was not supposed to do. at the most, i would read Mills & Boons series, which was very normal. however, some of my friends used to sneak in adult books and highlight sentences and dissect it later on. when i grew a little older, i remember getting hold of Lady Chatterley's Lovers by D H Lawrence (once considered obscene and was banned) and i was so sneaky about the whole thing!!
it seems childish now. nevertheless, in retrospect, it was fun doing stuffs like this. childhood is precious and those were the days...
pls share your stories.

Hello, mimpi, honestly i had not read any adults boooks when i was a child as i did not have any interests on it at that time. I think it is not good for a little girl to sneak into the adult book store,in fact,i do not think you will be allowed to enter the bookstore if the staff there think you are under age. [easy888]
adult book store - a long long way!!! no way i could go there, neither i was that smart. when i was in high school i managed the book from my friend's elder sister. now, LCL is a literary master piece, i guess you know that. thanx. [mimpi1911]
I never read anything really racy. There is a book by Judy Blume, who is a notorious children's book writer, she wrote 2 rather racy, I think teenager/adult books by the name of Forever and Wifey. I read them both. She is actually a great writer. I have always read whatever fancies me. My parents figured since I loved to read, there was no harm. They never even knew what I was reading. But alas, while I did read adult books, none that were obscene anyway. [misheleen73]
even, i was not much into adult stuffs. but i read D H Lawrence, could understand very little though. lol.. [mimpi1911]
When I was a child I read anything and everything. I read everything I could get my hands on, every book was mine till the last page. It did not harm me as I did not understand all that I was reading. X rated movies were worse for me. The books did not harm me. [Inky261]
oh great!! i donot think adult books or even films actually make you lose your values or make you bad!! its only a way of growing up - some do with it some without. thanx for sharing. [mimpi1911]
You took me many years ago.... When I was child my best friend had a brother 5 years older than us and as you can understand it was the ages that the most of the young boys had many adult books. He stayed at school more hours than us and her parents was at work so many times we sneak at him stuffs and check these kind of books. We was small so the most of the time we find very funny... After some years we understand that he knows about sneaking him stuffs but he afraid so much by telling to him parents so he acted like he never understand lol\: [aidonia]
lol... aidonia, your post took me back to my childhood days. i remember those days, our gang and the fun we did together. never can we go back to those days, i wish i could!! the innocence in stealing and reading books hidingly is uncomparable. smiles... [mimpi1911]
mimpi, tut tut, hee-hee I read a lot of period stories, the ones with long dresses etc but not lady chatterly, some of them were quite naughty, my dad had some cowboy books given him once and they were pretty rude, I thought, luckily he didn't read them. My partner once had a playboy in his wardroe which I found putting laundry away. I read it, decided it wasn't too bad and stuck the pictures all over the flat, every time he opened a cupboard there'd be an interestingly clad lady. He gave me some very odd looks and within a week they were all gone except the one on a motorbike inside his wardroe door and we never mentioned it at all. It still makes me giggle to think of the look on his face, like a little boy getting caught by his mum, the dread of the subject coming up was far worse for him and he didn't know I didn't mind but didn't like the idea that he kept it secret. Nasty rainbow but pretty funny. [rainbow]
How did I know a sweetie like you would read mushy romanaces bless you, I like funny adventures and magic best of all, I don't understand the "grown-up" stuff and avoid it. Enjoy your reading, I love to escape with a good book. [rainbow]
I read almost exclusively adult books as a kid. Though I think we mean two different kinds of "adult" books. I mean books written for adults, not necessarily mature content once. I did read quite a few of those though! My mother tended to have those romance novels that bordered on erotica laying around, and many of the books my father had were horror novels that sometimes had racy content as well. So depending on where I was living, I had a different supply of books. I didn't really have to sneak them though, as everyone was so used to seeing me with a book in my hands, they didn't even bother to see what book it was. [lecanis]
yes, the things which are abundant around lessen the excitement of getting hold of or reading it. its but obvious, as in your case. [mimpi1911]
Being a boyI read some adult books in my college days. And I got my first book on educational sex in my 11th class. Our Ms. (teacher) teacher gave it to students to read and learn. But as I grew old, and when I experienced it in life, the fascination to Eric stories lost. Thank you Mimpi for asking. [sreevasu]
Thank you Mimpi for the comment. But in this connection I would like to know something. We men use to have adult jokes (dirty jokes, to say) between us. On rare occasions guys used to share it with girls too. But do you have any of that sort between girls? I never heard it from any girls. Just curious to know. You need not tell any, though :-) [sreevasu]
Well I guess I never got hold of such stuff when i was a kid, as most of the books which I read at that time were censored by my elder brother. I read Sydney Sheldon's novel, Stranger in the Mirror, when I was 20, but at that time I was living in the university hostel, and I was not hiding that, as my roommate and other friends were also interested and curious about that and most of them read that as well. After that I read few more adult books, but now I have stopped doing that, as I am not finding them thrilling any more. cheers [waalik]
hi waalik, when books with adult content are wrtiien for the sake of it, it becomes a vulgar piece of writeup and i donot have taste for that. but the novels written with beautiful passion and words become art and i like those. thanx for sharing. smiles.. [mimpi1911]
this a nice topic vrey good topic [naseemv]
While i was a kid i did not really read adult books i guess i did not really view them as beign essential to my daily life and upbringing and i surely do not have any regrets. [mike4all]
i appreciate your point of view. [mimpi1911]
I read just about anything I could find that had letters! When I ran out of kid books, I moved on to my parentsī collection. Nothing risque there, though. I read books on how to make your own knives, how to raise goats and chickens, how to build a yurt, stuff like that! (My dad was a hippie) My mom was pretty careful about what I read, that it didnīt contain overly adult content, but apart from that, I read what I pleased. When I was 7, I read S.E. Hintonīs The Outsiders and became an avid fan! [GuateMom]
it was a pleasure going through your post, thanx GuateMom. even, i read whatever came in my way, but books around were more of normal kind and my father's study was full of books or architectre, pillars, cement and bridges..he is a civil engineer. so, obvious;y, i wasn't drwan to his store. my mom's was more of classic novels, mostly bengali literature. but i gathered and read some maser pieces. now my boss is my library. i can manage anything from him!! have a nice day. [mimpi1911]
The only books I read which were the least bit adult were Dickens books. They didn't have anything at all shocking in them. My Aunty gave me a very sad book called the wide wide world about a girl who is orphaned going to live witha relative she doesn't know. It was very victorian. My father gave me 'the yearling' about a boy and his pet deer. [mihimolly]
hi mihimolly, is it Chalre Dickens you are talking of? well, C dickens wrote for the masses and is simple, connecting and real, its no way with mature content. The yearling is a sweet story. smiles... [mimpi1911]
lol i read many books, a easy books or figure books XD [Grimmjowka]
I remember reading some Nancy Friday in my teens. My Secret Garden, and so on. I just remember thinking how strange some peoples fantasies are. [Galena]
indeed, it feels srange!! [mimpi1911]
Hi Mimpi1911, I didn't do that as a child I had books at home that were appropriate for my age. When I was in my late teens I think I did read an adult book that I got from english class, my english teacher had alot of books that her student can borrow to read but there were mostly teen books but the book I choose I never finished but I'm guessing it was an adult book. [sweetangel88]
thanx for sharing. [mimpi1911]
I always read books considered above my age level lol. People found it interesting that I was interested in physics at age fourteen..so..*shrugs* I never cared for romances per se, a book with a little tocuh of it (no matter how explicit) is okay, as long as the book wasn't full of it, 'cause I get bored with it after awhile. Mom always encouraged me to read too, so I didn't have to sneak lol. [xParanoiax]
that is good, xparanoiax. so, you are more into science stuff!! [mimpi1911]
I read many adult books, but if you mean things that are inappropriate, I never did that. I also read many series books because I could get very attached to those. [Flamechampboom]
define "innapropriate content" and innapropriate for who? [DavidReedy]
I read everything i could get my hands on, mimpi. One of my father professions is a litrature teacher and a writer, so his room is full with books. It was like a treasure island this room to me. So i read children books and adults. I only wish i would read now like i was when i was a child. Being lazy latly. [liranlgo]
hi liran, even i feel the same way - getting lazier withy time. [mimpi1911]
what age are you referring to I was a tom boy so went to the river and played football cricket and climb tree among other things never thought about such until about 15-16yrs old [sidoney]
i am refering to early-late teens. but you were not much into books,i guess. thanx sidoney. [mimpi1911]
I know friends in real life that read adult content books. It's nothing really bad, but they are at least people reading books I guess. [omegadarkmaster]
i don't think, its bad. its a way of growing up. thanx. [mimpi1911]
Never had access to any in my days so unfortunetly no. I was never a big reader anyway but i guess things could have so easily been different if i did have adult books to read and entertain myself during my long childhood days. [8ctavarium]
yes, i agree. its a fun in growing up and now as i look back it feels nice to remember the naughty stuffs we did!! i am not sure why it was 'long' dear, but if it is something gross, i am sorry to hear that. thanx for sharing. smiles... [mimpi1911]
I don't think I had any opport8nity to read adult books as a child. I was an excellent reader, but adult books simply weren't available to us. We only had what was in the school library. My Mother did give me teenage bookks when I was about 13 years. I think they were similar to Mills & Boons. [jennybianca]
thanx jenny for sharing your childhood with me. i didnot have any access to this either. but you know, somehow, someway my friends did manage - it was fun time. [mimpi1911]
I read Stephen King books by the time I was in the fourth or fifth grade. My parents were glad to see I was reading at such a level even if some of my teachers had issues. [DavidReedy]
nice to know that, david. smiles... [mimpi1911]
I remember reading lots of kids books. But I also remember getting hold of 'adult' books that generally were classics. Some of them completely went over my head and I probably shouldn't have read them at such an early age. But I was a huge bookworm as a kid and pretty much read anything I could get my hands on! [Script]
thanx for sharing friend. smiles... [mimpi1911]
I borrowed a copy of Lady Chatterley's Lover when it had just passed the censors. If you just rested it in your hand it automatically opened at the juicy bits. haha It wasn't so much the description of copulation that imprinted on my memory (nice though it was in an earthy sort of way) but it was the first time that I saw words like cu*t and fu*k in print that shocked me. Strange to think of that as shocking, when now, those words are on TV every night! [smacksman]
you are bang there friend! i really appreciate your input. i could relate to that totally. i believe, obscenity is subjective of ages. what's vulgar and considered bad may not be considered the same in the next age!! thanx for enriching this post. [mimpi1911]
as a youngster i use to read harold robbins' books and he is good then later a friend of mine lent me a book written in the 17th century and was banned for a long time entitled fanny hill .when i read it ,wow, it was english literature! but the way it was written was very descriptive and hat intrigued me. [tigerdragon]
i agree, a good literature defines the line between obscenity and sensuality. thanx for sharing. [mimpi1911]
No I never did I used to have a collection of Childrens Books as my Grandmother always bought them and I used to love reading them I still love reading now but obviously not Children Books lol I was never Interested in reading the Adult Books as I enjoyed my own books very much [gabs8513]
Good Post! I think barring a few ones, everyone would have done that. [dpk262006]
You are always welcome! [dpk262006]
LOL! I remember my mother was always scandalized when she sees me reading mills and boon books! She doesn't like the pictures in the paperback covers that I always hear a mouthful when she sees me reading these books. So whenever she was around, I try not to read them. [mari_skye]
same here, mari. however, she got used to it ultimately as she read and knew what its all about. smiles... [mimpi1911]
