Reading is a very much, good hobby. With childhood itself we all came across books of different types. I remember my childhood days at this age too. I was very much fond of reading books not only my course books but also the other books which belongs to my brothers in higher levels. My father was an addict to books. He assembled over five thousand books in home. I also became addicted to that habit just at the age of 12-14 years. I was reading all those books no matter whatever the subject or level. In the beginning I pick Urdu language but from 7th standard I also started reading all English books. All that childhood experience had given me lot of wisdom, intelligence and knowledge of life on earth. Thanks to Reading! [asuasu]
As a child, I always love to hear stories (fairytales mostly). And when I learned how to read books I often hang out in the attic to look for old books. My first book ever was "Ugly Duckling" by Hans Christian Anderson. I was in elementary when I started reading pocketbooks like Mills and Boons, Barbara Cartland and Sidney Sheldon's together with fairytale books. I was in college when I discovered NAncy Drew. Also, I love reading Paulo Coello's work. Interior design book/mags and Reader's Digest are also my favorite past time reading materials. I just can't stand reading books that focus on Politics.:-) [eurekafemme]
Yea I've always been an avid reader....BUT sadly the past couple yrs I've not been able to read NEARLY as much as I would like or as I use to...and when I was a kid I spent so much time grounded to my room music and books were my best friends LOL [Ravenladyj]

When I was a child, in my elementary school we used to get about 5 up to 10 books to ready them during the summer break. To be honest, I didn't really like that because as soon as the break comes I used to ready to spend the whole time outside playing with other children from early morning till late evenings. [dobstar]
Dr. Seuss, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and later things like The Lord of the Rings, and anything about dinosaurs or 'Star Wars' type books. Also comic books. [shutupandbuyit]
I read a lot of books when i was a child...like when i was in elementary school and high school...but i do most of the read when i was in elementary school cause i was sign up with the library in my neighborhood so i would always go there to borrow a book to read..it is just of lately leaving high school and getting older i stop reading book so often.and am not too happy about it either cause when i was a child growing up i use to love reading books...i love to educate myself on my own pace...i start doing that with my bible now and then especially when i got the urge to read it. [DOLLYBABY]
I remember reading from child until now. But I don't remember what I read when I was a child. The only thing I remember is that I read comics a lot, the habit I can not toss away right now lol. Anyway, since middle school, I was used to read all kind except comic, because I was attended a boarding school in my place, and boarding school prohibits its student to bring comic. [iharidh]

My mom always read us a bed time book when I was a child. I really believe that is why I am such a good reader and was an excellent student. My favorites were Dr. Seuss books, not the short ones like Cat in the Hat, but the longer more elaborate ones like Horton Hears a Who. [earthpanther]

Yes. My parents encouraged me to read tons of books. Whenever I want to buy a book, they buy it for me. In fact, they buy me two books a week. I usually read Sweet Valley books when I was in grade school. We used to go to a bookstore every week. I always felt giddy whenever I entered a bookstore. [zzyw87]
I loved to read as kid. I read series books like the Babysitters' Club and Sweet Valley. I also enjoyed Encyclopedia Brown. Like you, I remember reading Dr. Suess. The Lorax was my favorite. My first exposure to social change literature. [cripfemme]

I can recall I was digging out Dad's collections, reading whatever I could understand when I was a Child... [Emilycheerup]
I was an avid reader when i was a child. Every night before bed i would read, and by the time i was in the 5th grade i read the Hobbit, which is still my all time favorite book. I read consistantly up untill about 10th grade. My vision os very poor now and am in need of glasses so reading is hard for me. Even on the computer i have my internet screen zoomed into 150%. lol [kschilling]
I think the books I most read when I was a kid was the Children's Bible stories that my Dad brought. Then I grew up with Sweet Valley kids, then teens, then High. I read hardy boys and encyclopedia brown. And then I tackled the classics. Hehehe. I read a lot when I was a kid, and until now I still do.. That is what I want to give to my future kids. The love for reading. [Ingkingderders]
I had my nose stuck in a book so much, Mama would toss me out to play, removing the book forcefully from my fingers. Nothing was more magical than being on the prairie with Laura Ingalls Wilder or visiting palaces in Arabian Knights. Animal stories were particular favorites and I find myself writing those more than anything else today. The joy of reading has been replaced to some degree by the joy of writing, but it still remains my second favorite thing to do with any spare moments. [mysticmaggie]
I read alot of books when I was in elementary and middle school and of course I have mentioned before on mylot my favorite was The Boxcar Children.... Over the years of course with college and such I have had to read what I liked and what I did not like also.... I finally got my BA in Universal Studies minor in Business and I am now going for a Associate Degree in Paralegal so I am still reading. [hagirl]
I have always enjoyed reading, even at a young age. I will never stop reading. I actually have tons of books just waiting to be read, and the library is one of my most favorite places. Thank goodness my son loves to read just as much as me. He had already gotten an award from school for reading the most books. He's in first grade. [Djbrat]
Yes. I read a lot of books when I was a child. My parents had books on their shelves and I read Washington Irving's "The Tale of Sleepy Hallow" in on of the books. One time in sixth grade, I tied this one "brain" guy for the most book reports for a semester. Whenever I saw a movie about heroes, I would go to the library and read the book about them. I had a book about Davy Crockett that my Aunt sent from Pittsburgh. She always used to send books to my house. When I saw the movie, "The Alamo", I went and bought the book called "A Time to Stand" by Walter Lord. When I saw the movie about the Titanic, I bought the Titanic book called, "A Night to Remember" by Walter Lord. [RobtheRock]
I never read a book when I was a kid because I am raise as poor. My father always told me then that reading books is good but unfortunately I don't find any books in our home then until I am going to school and read book their... [aerous]

I spent so much time reading as a child that my mother put a limit on how much I could. I was allowed to go to the library once a week and check out 5 books. That was my limit, which was not hard to enforce, as we lived 5 miles out in the country. There was no bookmobile. [bellis716]
Yes, I read books like Jack and the Beanstalk, Pinocchio, Princess Sarah and the Little women. It was available at school library so I was always there, reading it. I remember I also have Snowwhite and the Seven Dwarf and sleeping beauty. I also have Pocahontas. Even when I was young my imagination crawl. I became creative because of that andI tried to write my own story because of that. [grecychunny26]
