Do You Have A Favorite Author You Love To Read

For me, there are quite a few different kinds of books out there. There are a lot of different authors as well. For me, it really depends on the style of writing if I will choose to want to read certain books by an author for sure. Just because I might like True Crime for example does not mean I will read just about anything as there are some Books I have found Boring just due to the author for sure. But when it comes to Reading, some of my favorites are: Danielle Steel, Debbie Macomber, and Anne Rule. I have had the pleasure even of meeting Debbie Macomber and she is who inspired me to want to be a Writer someday as well. So if you like to Read, who are some of your favorites, and do you collect some of the Books by them as well? ~~TINA~~

I have many favorite authors. A few of them are: J.K. Rowling, Judith Pella, Maggie Shayne, etc. There are many great authors out there. You just have to be able to broaden your mind a little bit. [CRSunrise]
I like many authors [SethVerlo]

I dont have a favorite author it would be to hard to choose from the ones I read... but there are my favorites and books I will get from them knowing their writing style and that I will enjoy the books. Authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Jacquelyn Frank, Kathleen Woodiwiss (those would be rereads since she is deceased)... Nora Roberts, Shirley Brisbee, Julie Ann Long.... just to name a few off the top of my head....LOL happy reading!! [bookreadermom08]

Hi Tina! I happen to love to read mysteries too! And I love crime the most! I am a big Danielle Steele fan! I don't know anything about Debbie Macomber, but sure would have no problem giving her books a try too! I just love a good mystery or crime novel! I also am a big Agatha Christie fan from way back! I will try anything if it looks like a good read! Alot of times I will go by a title and the jacket and take a chance! Sometimes it has worked out really well for me! [Opal26]

First of all Thank You for this post because I can read but unfortunately I'm a person that needs to start out with a book that captures my interest right in the beginning. I have a few of Danielle Steel books and I find her to be a very good author. To hear you approve of her also I am now interested in trying Debbie Macomber and Anne Rule. Thank You [Grandmaof2]

Hi Tina.. Jude Deveraux is my all time fave! I also love Sidney Sheldon and Stephen King. I like Danielle Steel also. [OreoCookie3]

I love Pearl Buck, Jack London, ans Sidney Sheldon. I'm very impressed by Buck's works in subject Asia, she had an interesting way to approach oriental cuture, making it become comprehensive for occidental readers. I've read most of her books, and still keep them in my bookshelf. [coldmoon]

no,it depend to what kind of book the writer write... but i do like l.j smith and Maryjane Davidson for their versatile of writing style..and always collect new title by these writer..i just couldn't wait to read the latest novel from j.k Rowling..heard it very interesting..!! [fasyahime]

I assume you are speaking of fiction and I do agree about Anne Rule. Currently I am reading Mortal Danger. She puts alot of research into her books. I do not care for Danielle Steele as I am not a romantic at all.w00t. As a matter of fact I prefer non fiction to fiction. But then again I can not resist a good mystery from Jeffrey Deaver or Dean Koontz. [muscles4me]

I like to read anything about animals, anything about natural building and permaculture, and any book by horror writer Poppy Z. Brite. She is a relatively unknown author. Her books are a bit strange and aren't for the squeamish. [SorrowSolace]

My favorite author is Munshi Premchand (Hindi writer,INDIA).HE wrote many stories which are inspiring and about social problems. His best book is "NIRMALA".I don't purchase his book but i read online [chimrani]

my favorite authors are JOHN DICKSON CARR.ELLERY QUEEN, LESLIE CHARTERIS, ERIC VAN LUSTBADER,FREDERIC FORSYTH,MICHAEL CRICHTON, D FRANCIS,GERALD DURREL,HENRY CECIL,JOHN LE' CARR,MARGERY ALINGHAM, few i can remember now.we bought what i can find books of these authors from second hand book shops.first hand are out my reachand i read all the books i bought of these authors.i enjoyed them.i like science fiction also.we have ISSAC ASIMOV's books,i read all we have. [krlakshmi]

I truly enjoy the readings from Paulo Coelho, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Mitch Albom and Yann Martel. I may not collect all of their books but I collect some of their well known pieces such as Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist or Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude. [ingridrepi]

Some of my favorite authors are Danielle Steele, Sidney Sheldon, Stephen King. I also want to read more stories by John Gilstrap, author of Nathan's Run. I liked the story of Nathan's Run so much but that was the only story I read which was written by its author. I do hope to find another story written by him. [3r7sweetie]

Yes I do. My all time favorite is madelein l'engle. I read maevy vinchy fo a while but then i got tired of reading gossipy stuffs. I like reading nicholas evans too, it seems to me like he has this melancholy way of writing even when the story gets a happy ending. And when I need a story about crime I like John Grisham. But lately I've been reading a lot of clive cussler's books, i kinda like dirk pitt!! :-) [amoyube1980]

I'm very much like you, Krause and have a number of authors and book genres that I enjoy. it all comes down to my mood at the time really. For example, I enjoy Patricia Cornwell for her forensic crime drama's and like her writing style; I love Robert G. Barrett, who is an Aussie writer with a wicked sense of humour; I enjoy Sue Townsend who wrote the "Adrian Mole Diaries"; Bill Bryant is another Aussie author who mainly does travel books and he's very clever with his writing as well..... Goodness, I could list many, many more, but that'll do for now! wink [James72]

ya i do have a favorite author ........generally i like to read books written by Sidney Sheldon......and also Dan Brown.......but unfortunately both have not written for a long time now and i have already read all the books written by them......... [parthu28]

My all-time favorite author is Stephen King. I'm not particularly into horror but I love Science Fiction and I think he's one of the best out there. There aren't many books he's written that haven't been turned into movies. As for his horror works, they are so very scary because most of them could actually happen which, to me, makes them all that more frightening. Stephen King is most definitely gifted, although he definitely has a very scary mind. I don't think I'd like to be able to see inside his head to find what's lurking in every corner! LOL He most assuredly has a great knack for putting those scary ideas into words. I believe I have every book and collection of short stories that he's ever written. The oddest thing about my collection is that I've found some of his rarer books while looking through the books in Goodwill stores! I believe I have 3 books that I never saw advertized in Goodwill stores and they all turned out to be just as good as the others I saw advertized. I couldn't tell you which book of his is my favorite because I love so many of them, although "Misery" is one of my favorites, particularly because the story could actually happen. It had me mesmerized and was very hard to put the book down until I had finished it. His first-ever novel was turned into a movie, "Carrie", which I was very impressed with. It's not many authors who have such success with their very first novel! I've been working on a novel of my own, Stephen King-style but, of course, there's no way I could ever write as well as he. Still, I have fun working on it. I was encouraged to write while in high school. I majored in English and Art in both high school and college and particularly loved my writing classes. I'd love to get my novel published but, if it doesn't happen, that's okay too, because I just enjoy writing. [mentalward]

yes,i have some.but i don't think i would love anything they write. Of course their new books always my first choese if i go to the bookstore. [vardon]

Agatha Christie has always been my favorite author. She is wonderful at capturing settings and scenry as wellas her story line and plots are just simply amazing. The areeasily followed and a result her books make very easy reading. If you like a good clean mystery check her out. She is the best. [catilda]

I really love suspense/horror/thriller stories whether if it is from books or movies. I have to say my favorite author is Stephen King. I have read several novels of him and he is really good in this field. I am currently reading his book entitled "It", I know some of you have seen the movie with the clown as the villain ... yes this is it. I have two books in line from him to read after this one. [brew2x]

hi Tina! i read a lot of reading materials, especially books that were made by many authors such as nora roberts, john grisham, irish johanson, joanna lindsey, jud deveraux, james waller etc. sometimes i forget their names because i don't really mind much about the author but the book itself. but the first author that i've memorized the name, i think, if i rmmber correctly, was john grisham. i really loved the first book of his that i've read which was THE CHAMBER. and yes, if i had the chance or if i stumble upon their books, i try to claim them. :D tc. ciao! [darianne]

I love Ann Rule to. She is the best true crime author out there. For fiction my favorite is Pat Conroy. Great stuff! [Sgurleyd]

My favorite author is Dostoevsky. In particular I love his book called crime and punishment. Crime and punishment is probably the greatest book ever written describing a person who is persecuted by his own conscience. All of Dostoevsky's books seem to involve great themes of morality, psychology, and religion (Russian Orthodox, to be exact.) In Crime and Punishment Raskolnikov, a poor student in St. Petersburg dreams of committing the perfect crime. With an ax he murders an old pawnbroker and her stepsister and steals some money from their apartment. Most of the story concerns how a particular detective slowly closes in on Raskolnikov and how Raskolnikov himself reveals his guilt. But the story is one of true love and the faith of Sonya who never wavers in her love for Raskolinkov. [evemurphy]

Janet Evanovich is the first one to come to mind. Easy to read, humorous, moves-right-along style of writing that I enjoy for its relaxation. I could also pick up any John Steinbeck book, open anywhere, decide to read for a length of time and walk away completely entertained. But for the most part, I am not really one who finds an author and decides to read everything they have ever written. After a while, if their style is not broad and engaging enough I will end up bored. That happened to me with Danielle Steel. I read her while I was in college because I needed to not have to concentrate too much to follow the stories. Then suddenly one day, I couldn't bring myself to read another of her books. I began to feel like I could read the first and last chapter and write the rest of the book myself. [makingpots]

Dvaid Sedaris because he has such a funny way of mocking the simplest dumbest things about life. David Means for his style of writing and underlying themes and messages. Alice Sebold for her plots and engaging elaborations about reality written in a beautiful way. Franz Kafka for his metaphors all about people's lifestyles and intentions. Edgar Allen Poe because he wrote beautifully even though he was on Opium. Nathaniel Hawthorne for his courage and accrac describin the problem with the church and hypocrisy. And JK Rowing beaus she is ay better and especially more origial than meyers anyday. [csrobins]

I love Dean Koontz and Stephen King. I have read a few Danielle Steele books but have always been disappointed in the endings. It's like she got tired of writing and just ended it. Just my opinion... True Crime books are also one of my favorites but I don't have any favorite authors for that type of book. I heard Nora Roberts is good but I've never read her books. I actually found a copy at my thrift store and bought it but I haven't read it yet. I'm working on a Stephen King book right now but as soon as I'm done I'm going to start the Nora Roberts book. [Dugsmom]

hi krausehome, i like any author aho writes spooky stories.in that case my favourite authors are R.L.Stine and J.K.Rowling. [vnrsud]

I love and collect all of Stephen King's books. He is a genius! He comes up with brilliant stories that are more than scary tales. They depict people's demons in every day life in very clever plots. I enjoy James Patterson, Peter Straub, Mary Higgins Clark and Dean R Koontz as well. I love self help motivational and spiritual books. Marianne Williamson and Eckhart Tolle just to name a few. I love reading so much I am open to almost anything! happy [paula27661]

I like suspense and happy ending novels. The authors that I really like are, for suspense, Mary higgins Clark (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle)and James Patterson (Kiss the Girls). For my happy ending novels, I like Maeve Binchy (Cirlce of Friends). These are my go to authors, where I am pretty confident in just picking up one of their novels and knowing that I am going to enjoy it. [uicbear]

My favorites are Jack McDevitt, Kristine Kathryn Rusch and Charles de Lint, with a strong bias towards Science Fiction and Fantasy. I do buy their books and I have a pretty huge (out of control) library. I read a lot of other things as well. The last few books that I have read that weren't Sci Fi or Fantasy were about autism, other cultures and politics. [dawnald]

Anne McCaffrey's Dragon books and Talent books are good, can't say I have gotten into her Peyteebee books or Acorna books. Almost everything I've read by Janet Evanovich has been good - not always great, but reliablily good. Tony Hillermann's stuff was always good too, bordering on great - I'm going to miss his work. Mercedes Lackey, most of her stuff has been good too, really like her Valdemar and Urban Elves books. [ElicBxn]

Jim Butcher, Christopher Pike, Tamora Pierce. Those're the main three. Horror, fantasy, mostly, those three. Who else...um...Darren Shan, John Peel, some others same. Genre. Some scifi thrown in. xD [xParanoiax]

yes myself, okay okay my favourite author was sydney shelton but he has passed on now. I get my own inspiration from charles dickens and John Steinbeck, [winterose]
