I think all kinds of reading counts! I always encouraged my students to read anything! They said they didn't like to read but would go through an entire game magazine looking for cheats and codes! lol!lol I told them the comics is reading, magazines and newspapers counted too... just read!!! What makes up the most of your reading? I love to read books but lately I have been reading more magazines... do you read more magazines or books?

I read magazines but its in the cd version. Also ebooks, blogs, informative websites, show interesting content. Ive chance visited those webpages that teach how to kiss, how to maintain a car, how to know the car battery life, how to make a blog, and so on. I virtually filled my days with reading. [cowboyofhell]
Wow! That's a lot of reading! I really am kinda old school on this one and prefer a real magazine! I do a lot of reading on line but I don't really care for ebooks. maybe I'll warm up to them later!! [macdingolinger]
I have several devotional daily readings that I read each day and some refer me to a passage from the Bible which I will read. Right now I am reading no books(unusual) but I have several here to choose from. I read many bodybuilding and weightlifting magazines but not from cover to cover. So for me i think it would be about even. [muscles4me]
I browse a lot of magazines but i always read Runners World from cover to cover! I have about 4 books by my bed waiting to be read! I have started a couple but not finished them yet. I am too tired by the time I get there at night to even try! I do occasionally read Osawald Chambers devotions on line. [macdingolinger]
I prefer to read books. I don't have as much time to do this as I would like. But it seems once I start on one, it is hard to put it down until I finish it. I really do not read magazines, I get readers digest and guidepost and never seem to read them. [sassy28]
I do enjoy Reader's Digest and occasionally peruse through a Guidpost. The guideposts stories all start sounding the same after awhile like the same person wrote them or something! I read Runners World faithfully. And of course I read my Bible every morning! [macdingolinger]
Most of the time i read more magazines. I get ideas to write articles for websites online and also get ideas to use for a new discussion on here. when im reading the magazine im usually at home in bed before heading to bed and i will have a piece of paper and a pen so i can write down ideas to talk about on here or to write an article. The only way i raed books is if i am in school. Im not a big reader on books, but more on magazines and i think that is knowledge for the real world so therefore i read more magazines. I subsribe to certain magazines that i enjoy. [lologirl2021]
I think I like to read both. I just don't have time to do a book very often. I do enjoy a good book but magazines are a little quicker and I can put it down and come back to it easier! [macdingolinger]
I would definitely would have to say that I read more books than I do read magazines. I'm a lot more interested in reading books than in reading magazines. I've always loved to read books, ever since I was a child, for as long as I can remember. I might occasionally read a magazine, but it really does not happen very often at all. [dodo19]
I read Runners World every month. Plus I read a lot of stuff on their site! I do enjoy books and magazines equally as well! I just really like to read! [macdingolinger]
When i was still studying time, i used to red many kinds of educational books to upgrade my knowledge. Because i am trying my best to get a very good result in my every exams. Although i am not an excellent student but at least i am able to achieve very good result in my every exams. I think reading books is very important to every student who wants to excel in their studies. When i feel bored, i am reads comic books. Now, since i am a full-time homemaker, i still reads books and even magazines, to fill my time and upgrade my knowledge as well. I think reading is a good hobby and we should continue reading, no matter we are at what age. [myfb2009]
I like to read newspapers and magazines nowadays.I used to read books but I found it's hard for me to persist in finishing reading now.The book is thick and have many pages...It's much easy and funny to read newspapers and magazines for me. [Sophie2010]
Magazines are great. You can read them a little at a time unlike a book. The magazines also have lots shorter articles so that helps be able to complete them. I really enjoy both! [macdingolinger]
I browse magazines more than books, because magazines tend to fill me in with bite-size chunks of information, which are easily "digested". Magazines are a better read for me because they are more condensed, and usually doesn't take me long to finish. That couple of minutes could have given me all the recent updates on the various aspects of the subject at hand. [myzire72]
I do like magazines. I always read runners world and then there are a few others that I look through regularly. I like books too though! [macdingolinger]
I read more books than magazines. Well, actually, I hardly read magazines at all. But I'm a bookworm. I've been collecting books ever since I was a little girl. I don't think I'll ever get books out of my system. My life wouldn't be the same without them. I will always love reading. happy [angelajoy]
I have always enjoyed reading too. I like magazines too though! I used to go to the library and get about 10 books to make a weekend! I haven't done that much reading in years though! [macdingolinger]
You're absolutely right! I love reading a wide variety of materials, from magazines to journals to literary books and academic books. It's fun and informative. You learn a lot of things. You gain so much from being a wide reader. You get to interact more with people because you've got a lot of information in your head to back you up on any subject brought up in a discussion. It keeps u updated with what's going on with the world around you, on people, technology and other stuffs. It also enhances your mind and imagination. Reading is really rewarding. :D [diyonzi]
It is true that we should read a variety of topics to be well rounded! It enhances our lives so much to learn a little about a lot of different things. You never know when your interest in a topic might surprise you! [macdingolinger]
I love to read everything and anything that I can get my hands on. But during one month I would have to say I read more magazines. Right now I'm in the middle of reading a book but I also have my magazines that come in every month such as Ladies Home Journal and The Oprah magazine. [lelin1123]
I read a lot of magazines but fewer books as well. I always read my runners world and then there are several others like I check for but not as faithfully as RW! I like a lot of books too though. [macdingolinger]
Hi macdingolinger I read very less magazines or books as I don't like reading many books. But I read books which I feel to read and which are very interesting to read. I like to read childre'ns comics, magazines and newspaper. But reading books is a very good habit, and there is no best friend like a book. Do you agree for that? Have a nice day. [KMaroon]
I do agree that books are good friends to have! Full of information and with just a little imagination I can go anywhere and do anything! Gotta love a good book! [macdingolinger]
It's hard for me to say really. Magazines are faster to read and have lots of advertisements, meaning less pages than what is shown, plus new magazines are released monthly, whereas a book you may like will force you to wait years for a sequel.lollol [MrKennedy]
Yep! And I hate it when a book ends with a cliffhanger and I have to wait forever for the next one. I gotta know what's going to happen next! When I know it's going to be continued I will wait and purchase both at the same time so I don't have to wait! [macdingolinger]
Maybe magazine, if we consider the number of magazines/books I read. But if we count the number of pages, I will tell you: Books! [amanca]
lol! Well then I guess it matters a lot about your perspective! lol!confused [macdingolinger]
i can't concerntrate for too long and i'm also forgetful,so i read magazines, the ones with the short stories, coz if i tried to read a book i'd forget what happened on the previous page [doormouse]
Most books have to be good for me to stay with them. If I read a few pages and I'm not into it by then, I toss it! It's pretty much gotta grab me and get me into the story right away! [macdingolinger]
Hello, MyLot makes for a lot of my reading. Im a book junkie, I always have a book lying around and I read it every chance I get to get to the end of the story. I cant imagine a world without reading. I like all kinds of books, bio, sci-fi, novels, fantasy, you name it, Ive probably read it. I also need to read and write a lot for my work, so you can say that Im nearly always reading something. Happy reading at MyLot!! [MagicalBubbles]
I am with you on the nearly always reading something.. that sounds like my life! I do a lot of reading for my writing too. Then when you think about it, writing is reading too! In sort of a backwards way! [macdingolinger]
I always read magazines or books. It is one of my hobbies. Whenever I found books that I found to be interesting I mostly get it and read it.Reading is fun and entertaining, it will make you knowledgeble in many things around. In my case I used to read books when I was young, that's the reason why I have a lot of information when it comes to general information. Some people were amaze of me with the things they don't know but I know. reading helps me a lot in here. [varron]
That's why I love reading!! You get to know so many things! IT's fun and rewarding!! [macdingolinger]
I really enjoy reading books but sometimes it seems like I just don't have any time! I'm in University so I have to read my textbooks so I am pretty much sick of reading by the time I finish my readings for school each week. When I don't have school or am on vacation, I stay fresh by reading some Augusten Burroughs books. Magazines are not really my cup of tea but I do like to read blogs online, I think that counts as reading too. Considering we are in the digital age maybe encourage students to read things online? [j00nior]
I hear ya! When I was in school I didn't read much outside of assignments either. I would occasionally grab something just for fun when I was on break though! I think blogs definitely counts as reading! [macdingolinger]
i dont really read that many magazines just because they are so expensive to buy. i go to the library and get a lot of books out (for free) and read them. i go to the library about once a week. [cher913]
The library is a great resource!! I usually wait until I can get a good deal on a subscription. I can usually find one for about a dollar an issue. I don't mind that price it's lots cheaper and I don't even spend the time or gas to get a new issue! [macdingolinger]
Oh do I read more books than magazines. Magazines are too full of advertisements that it takes the effect away. I like having a book to read and I can imagine what the author is saying. Though I do have some magazines that I read and look through like yoga magazines. [soulist]
I get bothered by advertisements too. I don't mind them in Runner's World though as they are usually interesting items to me anyway! [macdingolinger]
i am prefer more magazines or books because its really give us more knowledge and we can get more knowladge about many professional and commercial world. magazines and books are the things where we take more interest to know about different sector. [richauni]
True, magazines are more themed reading whereas books are more topical. [macdingolinger]
i would like to read both magazines as well as the book because we gain knowledge from both the sides good gives us knowledge and from magazines we can get what is happening around us [binagupta]
Fiers I love very much to read. I'm a member of liberary in my town and change books once or twice a week. I read magazines in the field of economy' my job. but read books for joy. [as2006]
I read one newspaper a day and three on the weekends. I read at least one magazine a week. I read about one book a month. So way more newspapers and mags. [writersedge]
I think I read more books because I can borrow them for free in the library. I used to buy some magazines but then I realized that I spend a few euros, read it and put it on the shelf and it's a real waste of money. If I didn't buy 3 magazines I could buy a book for the same money, so I stopped. Now I only read magazines when I go to the hairstylist. Most of the things that I read about, I already know. I read on the internet a lot because it's free and you can really learn many things. [tanchyka]
I still read more books, but I read magazines too. Mostly women/lifestyle magazines in the past, but now also going for photography, entrepreneur and cooking magazines. They're not just entertaining but you could get a lot of useful information too [verabear]
Ya, sad to say that I do read more magazines than books. lol. I like to read them because they have a lot of pictures and like to read the articles too. Sometimes I can go through a magazine in one sitting. They help the time go by when I am stuck in the waiting room at the doctor's office. [nijolechu]
ya i think reading a novel.who story is very intrest.who write in reality [grover123]
Definately magazines. i'm not saying that i don;y read books but i think that a magazine is much better than a book. It depends on waht you like... [andu_95]
I agree with you. Reading is not confined to big books or just the newspapers. English is not my native language and I started reading English when I was in 4th grade....my uncle used to buy me comics from book shops. Then we bought a computer and i was a total gaming freak. And reading the game manuals counts too! Plus I play all the tutorials and read through every information available!! Then I started reading magazines, especially the computer-related ones like Chip and Digit. When I grew a little older, I started reading everything that gets in my way. But I'm sure that I'm reading only because I grew up seeing my dad read. [myzonez]
I like to read magnizes.from magnize I can get much information, fashion in the air,affairs...many kinds of informations you can get.It is very useful.I like to read novel. It is interesting. [fairytale123]
Honestly, reading mags or books is not my habbit. I only read these two for educational purposes (college days) but at times, i don't read any. :) I know reading helps a lot to activate our brain system that is why somehow,I do networking to exercise my reading and communication skills. But, if I were to choose between the two? I'd rather like to read more magazines than books, because sometimes a magazine is more fun to read. [gtloquero]
i read newspapers, magazines and books, old and new. i like borrowing from other people's bookshelves. i pick up abandoned reading materials. i like browsing in bookstores. i like holding what i'm reading, i read from beginning to end, page to page. i can't fall asleep without reading first. i'd like to try reading e-books but i can't read that long when it's on a screen. my secret dream is putting up a small library for kids to drop in and read, write, draw, listen to wholesome music and watch educational programs. [binggaling]
Yes, my hubby has exactly the same excuse. I don,t like to read, but the pc format and nag magazines, are books as well, i think. I love to read and will do anything just to curl up with my favourate book and try to finish it as fast as i can read it. But that is only me. It takes my hubby about 3 hours to work threw one of those mags. MEN. [saphrina]
That is the best company any women can ask for. {a very good book.} [saphrina]
Hi macdingolinger, i used to read books and novels alot, when i was young, but these days i simply can't find the time to read books and novels etc. These days i mostly read magazines when the time permits, i read mostly tech and auto magazines. Thank you. [zkapfo123]
I prefer to Books actually. But, sometime I read magazines when Book is kinda boring. Magazine can keep my mind fresh. And Book can make my brain not empty. It very important! Don't leave your brain empty! [andryan7legends]
Hey friend! Reading books and magazines are not the same as they provide different pleasure. Reading books require much time while the magazines less. Therefore, magazines are most read by me. Happy reading.happy [faridmadeabillion]
i work in magazine before,so i must read many kind of magazines, now i still read magazine, magazine have more picture and news, knowledge and fun ,joke,i didnot read a book now, when kid ask me to read for him ,i will do.....XD [charitylee]
Books; I only read magazines when I am at the doctors office waiting rooms to pass the time away.... Sometimes I even take some of my smaller books with me and read them while I am there. [hagirl]
I have always preferred books to magazines. I am not sure why. A friend of mine always reads magazines and she takes them to the beach. I would rather have a book.rolleyes [cerebellum]
rolleyesI guess they do both serve a purpose. Magazines are good if your in a doctors waiting room because the stories are short. I think I like longer stories, that's probably why I like books more. [cerebellum]
i like reading more magazines than books.i find that the novel in the magazines is short,i like to read slowly and understand the actor's feeling and love and share the life's reality.but there is not different between the book and magazine.the details of book is too long.i dont have good mind to read carefully and often read quickly and want to find the result of book.there is not meaning for reading a book.so i like to read magazines. [bingchen]
Magazines are great! I like the short stories and the real life emotions found in articles. It is more "real" than a book sometimes. I can distance myself from a story line in a book even though mentally involved. A story in a magazine which has pictures is really more "real". [macdingolinger]
Well for me it would depend on what I want to know.. If it's about facts needing thorough knowledge then I would go and get several books and read about the topics I want to learn and read about. But when it comes to updates and anything new I would read magazines, journals, blogs, research works. Usually any breakthrough are not immediately published in books, magazines and journals gives us first hand information. Magazines don't give us all of the details, just highlights of topics. More often than not, what we read in magazines stimulates our interest on certain topics, so it motivates us to learn more through research and reading. Sometimes it comes to a point when we start to pick up a book and read more about it. This is a good way to stimulate interests in our students, so that they would read and research more on things that is interesting to them.. [ian1979]
Yeah, it does depend a lot on the purpose of reading. You are correct about that. I read different things at different times depending on my immediate situation and need! [macdingolinger]
Hi macdingolinger!^^ I think it's good to encourage students to read. It helps a lot in improving the vocabulary, grammar, and spelling. For people whose native language is not English, reading materials in the English language helps in improving their command of English. I usually read newspapers and novels. I love reading novels like suspense, horror, adventure and a little of classic. My favorite authors are John Grisham, Dan Brown, LM Montgomery and Anne Rice. Though I don't read much of A. Rice's and LM Montgomery's anymore. I also read magazines but only if there are available. We don't buy magazines, only newspapers. I get to read magazines if I'm in some place where I'm waiting like a bank, a clinic, or somewhere.^^ [secretbear]
I always required my kids to read and now as adults they are both avid readers! It's paying off seeing them become real readers on their own! [macdingolinger]
I used to read always reading magazines and news papers(daily) rather than reading books. Because, it updates our current events. Where the books narrates the old stories or events of past life. In addition to this, reading a books takes more time to complete it. I am not interesting in reading books [ranjith143]
True, but I do enjoy a book and the story line. I just don't have a lot of time to read them since they are so long! [macdingolinger]
happyI do read magazines more than books now. However, when I was still a student, I used to read more books than magazines because reading my textbooks was the requirement for me to pass the subject .. . have a nice day reading.happy [dorisday1971]
Right now, I am more into reading pocketbooks than Magazines. Before, I am really fond of reading Magazines, in fact, I even collect it. But right now, I do appreciate pocketbooks more since I just love the love story it's been there. In fact, I have a lot of it already...like 2 big box I think and until now, I don't know what to do with those. But yeah, reading would simply help us a lot. But it would be so good for me if I just read all my previous lessons than pocketbooks just to freshen up my memory...rofl [joannaleed]
I read books more than magazine. What I like in magazine are the pictures of dress, make-ups and some places. I much prefer books and it has to be English since I am trying to learn a little English on every book I read. I like also magazine, but at home you will see a stock of books more than magazine. If my favorite celebrity is the front cover of the magazine I will surely buy it but after reading about him or her, I will keep the magazine. [grecychunny26]
I keep a lot of magazines too! I think I keep all of my runner's world magazines. I collect books too though! I like reading both depending on my mood! [macdingolinger]
i think that ,too but i prefer to read the books and the news in the magazines to see in the internet.i hate to watch some book store on tv and i lose the wish to read it. i read magazines sometimes because i am not used to buy magazines [elly1384]
i buy my books from readerdigest and i am thankful of them by the cheaps that made [elly1384]
Hi!I prefer to read books. This mean not, that I like not magazine. For me are the books more interesting!!!!!!!!!!! [galia8610]
They are really very different. They have very different purposes and audiences. A book is usually more like a novel but a magazine is a real short story with fewer details! [macdingolinger]
i would say i read more books than i read magazines because i dont read magazines at all. i dont buy them and i dont waste money on them because they will soon be outdated. magazines are not a good collection unlike books thatwhich takes longer to be out of the trend [TAZNEM]
I don't know. I read both a lot. I am keeping all of my Runner's World magazines. I go back and read them. They always have good information on diets and training. But some I guess do get outdated. But then like REader's Digest and such doesn't.. I guess it matters which you are reading. Science mags will be out of date quickly! [macdingolinger]
I will read magazines if they are handy, but I'm not going to go out of my way to have magazines to read. I am more of a book reader. I've been this way since I was a young girl. Now that I am an adult with two children of my own, I still read at least a little bit every single day. I am also working with my children who are seven-years-old and three-years-old to also be readers as well. I read to my son and my daughter reads by herself now. Hey, she is in first grade and already reading on a third grade reading level as of the first quarter of the school year. [dorannmwin]
