Do You Read

I am dealing with the aftermath of having the house decorated and am horrified and delighted in equal measure by just how many books we have and the fact that we don't stop adding to the pile. I have always been an avid reader, mostly of non-fiction, whilst my wife loves fiction. What do you read and when do you do it. If you don't read is there any particular reason? Would you like to read more.

Read a lot of fiction myself - have about 500 books at last count - really need to do a carboot sale. Mostly action thrillers, crime mysteries and westerns Have a few non-fiction books about history, probably about 30 [mrtimharry]
Hello all, new to this site. I am an avid reader but unfortunately live in a small flat so cannot keep all. I do keep my absulute favorite reads, give some to friends and then to charity also. I prefer fiction which has some factual basis. the last two books I read were Kite flyer - the story of two boys growning up in afgahnistan in modern times. It is riviting and would highly recommend. Also and an arabian princess - this is a shocking, fascinating insight into lives of Saudi women and an eye opener into the attitudes of(present day) saudi arabia - a must read. If anyone has any recommended reads it would be great to here. Many thanks j [byron_02]

From a very young age I have been an avid reader, I love anything from gangster books, to horror to period fiction. I have read a great many books over the years and everytime I had a spare few minutes I would have my nose in a book. But as my family has grown over the years I have had less and less time to spend on my passion, my youngest is 2 now so eventually I might start getting a bit more time. At the minute what I do is when I put my daughter to bed, I read my books to her as this is the only time I get to indulge. I censor what I read to her and make sure they are nice books, but she absolutely loves it which is great because I can get chance to read. I still read her little girl books too, and its really enjoyable. But I would love to be able to read more to myself. [gemini_rose]
I can remember reading and small children! Actually, when my daughter was small I was introduced to a whole new world of children's books. Some I remember from my own childhood and other, new authors. My daughter had a favourite story about a stuffed bear. After the first 50 odd readings I began to wear of the bear, but she loved it. I started to make up different endings, but she would always bring me back to the original story. Thank you for your response. [p1kef1sh]

Oh I love to read, I got bought a few new books at Christmas and spent my time off work over the holiday period reading them all. One was a really interesting one on 1001 Ways to Save the Planet which I actually started a discussion about yesterday. I don't have a favourite type of book, I have a pretty mixed cupboard full really, from crime thrillers, to autobigraphies, to self help, romance, The Bible and theological books, supernatural mysteries and upstairs a room full of childrens books too because of my little one. I have always encouraged my children to read and two of my 3 loves books also, the eldest not too keen only reads on holiday flights really unless studying and then its study books. I think I spend as much time reading as I do on the computer so I have still got the balance right. Always good to lose oneself inside a book eh! Ellie :D [ellie333]
Knew what you meant! You should see some of the typing mistakes I make on here. Yesterday on my baking soda one i spelt deodorant - deordorant and it was in the discussion heading OOOOPS. Will search out the book you suggested and read. Many thanks. Ellie :D PS: I too like you come home with more than I take if I do car boot sale and books I have got rid of in the past I usually end up buying again as I miss not having them. Ellie :D [ellie333]

When I decided to sell my apartment and move, I realised I could not take all my books with me, and I had over 300 books. The only ones I had not read were a few of those given to me as presents. I read all the books I buy myself. I donated my entire library to a charity which has a chain of bookstores, all except for 5 books I had to keep. I have lived in my new home for less than a year and already it is filling up with books. [paid2write]
I have heard of those exchange book services but I recycle mine by buying from and donating back to charities which sell books to raise money for good causes. [paid2write]

LOL I can SO relate!! Whenever I rearrange my house I get SO frustrated at the amount of books that have to be moved around but at the same time I'm thrilled by it...And also like you, I never stop adding to the collection..I LOVE to read!! What do I read? Lots of nonfiction/spiritual/self help books but also lots of fiction (horror and the classic gothics are my fav) When do I read? LOL that varies....some weeks I'll read daily if not a few times a day but then there are times that I just dont have the time to read anything more than a magazine ya know.....I'm working on getting back into reading more often though..There was a time when a day wouldnt go buy that I didnt read a for a couple hours...I miss that LOL [Ravenladyj]
I shall be moving the vast majority of books into my study upstairs. Removing all the books from the hallway. My current dilemma is, what if people drop by and think, "don't these people read. There are no books". I know I shouldn't care what others think, but I have been in so many other peoples homes and there is not a book to be seen. Perhaps there's a self help book on the subject! [p1kef1sh]

I own far too many books. I can never ever seem to get rid of them, even if it's highly unlikely that I'll ever read them again. There's just something about owning a lot of books. It feels like a wonderful richness. I suppose I have quite a romanticised view of books. I wish I had my own library room! I really enjoy lending books to people when they're really good and I think they'll enjoy them. That's another reason I hang on to them. [Phaedra_Scythe]
It's talk like that, that can turn a girl's head. [Phaedra_Scythe]

I love to read and sometimes I like a book so much that I read and re-read it until the book is worn out, but I don't buy books too often new, I usually buy them used....there was one time I bought a huge stack of discarded books from the library, and we had phone problems and internet issues, in that time, I read 7 books in 7 days, and my husband just shook his head and wondered how I did it, for when I wasn't doing anything else, I was curled up in a chair or on the couch with a book. Mooch [oneandonemakesix]
I can easily understand the attraction of a chair and a book. I do re-read, but I usually have to have 6 months in between. I love the sensation of a tranquil summers day, a light summer breeze, a chair (better still a day bed) and a book. No phones, no interruptions, pure indulgence. [p1kef1sh]

A lot. I love reading and it's more than a hobby. Aside from sitting in front of my computer, my next option of what-to-do is grab a book and lie down on my bed all the time. I wish I could bid something from your books over there. Maybe I like something from your collection. I love reading fiction too. One of my favorite. If I don't have hard-bound book in hand, I'm taking online articles. :) [MGjhaud]
I think that reading and computer use are entirely compatible. Thank you for replying. [p1kef1sh]

I could read almost anything, especially when I find the story interesting. I haven't read any as of late yet, though I still have four novels and a history book that are waiting for me on the shelf. But if time permits and I could buy some extra time, I'd be glad to put my imagination to work again and travel on some parts of the world by simply reading.. [raijin]
I hope that you find the time. I find that once I start I have difficulty stopping! [p1kef1sh]

I have always loved to read. I like fiction. I do read some non-fiction, but reading has become and outlet (how some people watch tv all the time). Anyway my favorites to read are fantasy, right now on the Wheel of time series and the noble dead series. I like mysteries and michael crichton style books. [musicofthetiger]
I confess that I have always struggled with fantasy. I loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was younger but not much else. My father keeps trying to get me to read Terry Pratchett, but I find him difficult , even tough I like surrealistic humour normally. [p1kef1sh]

i dont buy books for that particualr reason. i (and the rest of the family) visit the library every other week and if it is a book that i absolutely love, i will then buy it, but not before. i too am a non fiction lover (mostly history!) and rarely read fiction... [cher913]
I think that the library is the most useful public resource. I spend a lot of time browsing in my one locally. Thank you for replying. [p1kef1sh]

I love reading but I don't have much time to read anymore due to working online. I still do read a couple of hours a week. I have read the whole Left Behind Series, and on the last one now.. that will finish it. I like fiction mostly. My favorite author of all time is Jude Deveraux. [OreoCookie3]
I am not too good on American authors. I think that Jude's books have been set in the late middle ages in Britain, but she has now moved her plots back to the US. I hope that you find some more time to read them though. Thank you for your reply. [p1kef1sh]

I used to think that I could never have too many books but I'm rethinking that one. I recently went to an estate sale with 15,000 books for sale. It was a huge house with a library but there were books everywhere else too with no cataloging. It was overwhelming and it made me take a hard look my own books. I probably have close to a thousand. When I went through what was in the attic, I got rid of about 50 books and I'm going to be thinning the herd a little more. I find I really do outgrow certain books (Not children's books. I'll never outgrow those. You should hang on to the Biggles!) [irisheyes]
Hmm. I like a good index and 15,000 is rather a lot of books. Must have been fun looking through them though. Funnily enough I retain a real affection for children's books. I think they transport us back to a time of safety, no real responsibilities and imaginations that could quite happily turn a bed into a tent in the woods, or a car driving down the Highway, or a plane or .......... Biggles will stay on the shelf, next to the Just Wiiliam books that vied for topmost place in my boy's adventure world. My favourite, then as now though, has to be the Wind in the Willows. [p1kef1sh]

I seem to go through genre phases. For the most part, I'm either reading self help (psychology and sociology type books) or fiction. After being introduced to the fantasy science fiction genre about a year ago, I have stayed on that course. I'm currently on a Douglas Adams kick, and found that "The Time Traveler's Wife" has become one of my all time favourite books. Of course, I was already in the fantasy genre with the Harry Potter series, and read through the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and enjoyed comparing the two to each other. I was in a smut phase years ago, and read a lot of Jackie Collins' books, and the phase that immediately followed that was my horror phase, where I mostly read Stephen King, and anything that was comparable to him. I don't read much in current affairs. That is a personal choice because there tends to be so much negativity involved, and I want to keep only positive in my life. And yes, I do want to read more. I have this "thing" of wanting to read through a number of the "classics". You know, the books that everyone has heard of. A few examples that I've read are The Diary of Anne Franke, Les Miserables, Roots, The Thorn Birds, LOTR, the Hobbit, HP series, etc. I tried reading Bram Stoker's Dracula, and just couldn't do it. I also struggled through Anna Karenina... but hey! I can honestly tell people I've read Tolstoy! :) (war and peace is another I'd like to read, but after AK, I don't know about that.. I think it might kill me). [CanadaGal]
Thank you for the best response hon. :) [CanadaGal]

I always had my head in a book, it was my escape, and I read tonnes of books, I love detective novels, horror stories and autobiographies, I would borrow a handful at a time from the library or support my local charity shops by buying them. Then the internet took over and book reading took a backside seat and I started to read less and less. This year I have made a resolution to start reading again, and I set aside quality time each day to read. I am reading a book by Ian Rankin Hanging Garden about Inspector Rebus it's excellent and I am really glad I've got back into reading again, I didn't realize how much I missed it, it's relaxing too. [wolfie34]
I admire your devotion in managing to set aside a part of each day to read. I wish I had that resolve. This internet thing is a mixed blessing isn't it. It provides us with hours of absorption, and if you are on this site you cannot say that don't ever read; but it stops us from getting on with other things too. However, it is a self inflicted injury so we cannot have too much sympathy. [p1kef1sh]

I enjoy reading and read mostly fiction. I joined a bookclub and only buy when the items are on sale or offer specials. Sometimes I buy from thrift stores, library sales or from amazon.com. On occasion I will buy retail if its on sale too LOL My neighbor has tons of books and we swap now and then or borrow from each other. I also belong to a bookmooch club and have received two books from there too. I read when I'm in the bath, when there is nothing to watch on tv or if I can't be bothered going online - which is mostly 3 or 4 times a week. I have on occasion spent a whole day and night reading. My favorite author is Jodi Piccoult. [maddysmommy]
My wife love Jodi Picoult too. I can no longer read in the bath because we had it ripped out and replaced with a walk in shower. I am clean, but not well read now. The pages get soggy. A friend runs a book club but I am not allowed to join as I am the wrong gender. Who said discrimination is dead. But my wife goes and I read most of the books when she's finished. [p1kef1sh]

I love to read, and constantly cart home more and more books. Way too many to fit on the shelves, so they're scattered about the living room, bedroom and my dressing room, and that's just the way it is. I'm sure you haven't read her, as you're not big on american authors, but my favorite is Louise Erdrich. She's half native-american, Ojibwe, to be precise, and her books center around the people in and among that tribe in the northwest and their day to day lives and histories. She weaves the most lyrical, intricate stories, and the same characters show up in several of her books, and you get to really know them, and love them. I don't know how she does it, but I LOVE her books and look forward to each new one. Buying the new Louise Erdrich, bringing it home, looking at the jacket, smelling the book, giving it a bit of a hug, then opening that first page. Oh, my. What a gift. I read tons of other things too, way too many to name here, else I'd go on forever, and I mean forever. I just love to read and get swept up in the motion of the story. I want to be carried away, and into the book. The places I go............ No surprise that you're a reader, really. You're so well spoken and you write beautifully, and I'm loving reading your stuff, darlin. Keep it up. Um, I mean the reading. Oh, and the writing. Yup. [novataylor]
Well, I think I love you. ;) [novataylor]

Yes quite sometimes but not about politics i hate that. I read any kind of interesting books like related to science "the study of life", physical fitness, Health Books and romance novels. [Leigh12]
You are going to need to keep fit for all that romance. Thank you for your reply. [p1kef1sh]

I love to read. So many books and I love them All. It all depends on the content of what im reading. [ayou82]
Books are a great escape aren't they. They can take us to places that we could only dream about otherwise. Thank you for the reply. [p1kef1sh]

I read both myself. Whatever catches my fancy. Self Help, Inspiration, Auto/Bio, Fiction, some mystery. I have gotten into swaps to get rid of some and that was cool. lately, haven't had time due to my car alternating between working and not working. If I could I would read more if I had time but don't. [Savvynlady]
I( am afraid that it always comes down to time doesn't it. We have so many other responsibilities these days. I quite envy Mr Bennet in Pride and Prejudice. He spent his whole day reading and doling out wisdom to his brood of daughters. [p1kef1sh]

I love to read due to my Mom instilling in us the love of books. I always make time in each day to read. I set this time especially for reading. I don't have books in the house because of our house being small. But that is no problem because I can walk out off the front door and look to the left and see the library which I use a lot. So I have easy access to the library and use it on a continual basis. It keeps me in books and I love going over there because not only is it a place where I get my reading material but the librarian and I have become good friends. So a lot of times when I go there and find the books I want to check out than I stand there and talk with the librarian. [sunshinelady]
I agree, if books are around you as a child, you develop an interest that lasts for life blessed be [ESKARENA1]

I did a heck of a lot of reading between the age of 15 and 30. Most of it was light reading... and a lot of fiction. Until the age of 21... I would buy piles of novels on spy or detective stories. I would read a novel in two evenings. Then came the video recorder... and in the following years I copied a thousand hours of video tapes from the television. That was followed by the computer and the DVD player. There is simply no time to read anymore. I don't even have time to read the newspaper. I was just telling a friend about my collection of DVDs. I am counting 800 of them so far. It is my latest hobby. lol Yes I would like to read more. I would like to re-read many of the books I read over 20 years ago. I even have a dozen that I bought 10 years ago... and never read. [Aussies2007]
I know what you mean about the DVDs etc that we all accumulate. I do find myself watching DVDs but I always head back to the bookshelf before long. Since coming on my middle aged gap year I have found it a lot easier to find the time to read. [p1kef1sh]

I read just about anything it is possible to get my hands one, with a particular liking for historical novels, especially on eclectic subjects such as the life of Pope Joan. I also love all sorts of how-to books. Since the Gutenberg Project and other awesome online resources became available, I've done more reading online than on paper, though. [drannhh]
Funny, but I was going to ask you if you had seen that Amazon device! I looks so cool, but is rather pricey. It is http://www.gutenberg.org and there is another interesting one that a member here posted yesterday called DailyLit.com that you might want to check out. [drannhh]

I know just how you feel. I have books everywhere, on shelves, in boxes, piled up on the floor in all the rooms and I still add more to the collection even though at the new year I resolved to put book buying on hold for this year until I could dispose of some books. Well, that never was going to last! [jwfarrimond]
That's it exactly. I start to sort out books that I've not looked at for decades with a view to boxing them up to take to the charity shop and then I start to read one of them so the sorting comes to a halt and never gets finished. [jwfarrimond]

I love reading too but lately I only do it occasionally. But like you we have also accumulated piles of reading materials that make it hard for us to move around. These books and other reading stuff accumulate like garbage and very often they do end as garbage. [veganprince]
No, I just cannot throw a book out. No matter how much I want to have more space in the house. [p1kef1sh]

oh my, i estimaste that between us we have the accumulated collection of over 100 years reading, at least three book cases full of books. To0 be fair, our lives have been domminated by books and learning but it still continues blessed be [ESKARENA1]
I love to read. Anything but non fiction and westerns. [whiteheather39]

I do very little reading in paper form. But I got about 75 differnt e-books on my computer, mostly for poker. I tend to spend a hour or so every few days reading something. Usually I like to read two to three chapters at a time. I understand why some people read if they've done it for a long time in thier life, personal habits are hard to break and bring a certin joy inside even if you don't don't enjoy the subject that time. But for me, being a relatively slow reader, I'd much rather learn stuff from online news and videos. I tend to trust online more then I do TV, provided I trust the website. [2EarnMoney2]
If you are happier watching vids or DVDS, or learning stuff on-line the that's OK. Thank you for replying. Hope that the Poker goes well. [p1kef1sh]

I love to read anything from crime stories and thrillers to love stories and history. But I suppose if I had to choose then I would go for the more dramatic crime stories. I use to read all of the time, it was nothing for me to read a 300-400 page book in one day but now it seems as though I never get to read unless it is something that I am reading on the computer as I work almost 20 hours a day on the computer and those extra 4 hours I sleep! Right now I am just taking a few minutes for myself to do something that I enjoy before going back to the grindstone, if I picked up a book instead I would never get back to work! [sagesunicorn]
You? Smug? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's very nice work if you can get it!! All I can say to that is that some dogs have all the luck! Not that I'm jealous or anything!! Who am I kidding? Of course I am! But my advice to you is enjoy it while you can! [sagesunicorn]

I'm an avid reader, where my husband really isn't. I read everything that I can get my hands on. Currently, I'm reading alot of dark fantasy (vampires, weres, witches, etc.) I tend to read fantasy when I need a complete and total escape from reality. I also read alot of non-fiction, and philosophy types of books. Not big on all the self-help crap, since it is basically all a one-sided opinion. My husband will occassionally read some philosophy books and books on baseball. I read whenever I can find a spare moment, granted with five kids, those spare moments are pretty hard to find! [quiltedblessings]
5 Children and you still find time to read? I am in awe of you and your husband. [p1kef1sh]

You can go to www.shelfari.com and can get to see the books that I have read recently. I'm quite interested to know your tastes also. It'll really make things go great I hope. I am a daily reader of The Times Of India. What do youu read daily? What profession are u in? Will be waiting to get to hear from u either here or there. Cheers! [aparajita]
I much prefer non-fiction to fiction, but I do read both. I am pleased to ready that you enjoy reading too. I find it very relaxing and will read anytime that I can. I read the BBC news and New York Times in-line and a variety of UK papers at weekends. Thank you for your reply. [p1kef1sh]

I read sometimes but the books that intrest me are from a company called Zebra they are historical romances. [sweetaspie52]
I don't think think that it matters that much what you read, just so long as you do. Hope that you continue enjoying your books for years to come. Thank you for posting your reply. [p1kef1sh]

I read every chance I get. I love mostly fiction of all kinds but on occassion like a little non-fiction as a change of pace or if a particular subject interests me. I carry a book with me everywhere and always have another by my bed or chair and use a lot for research when I have a project. I have a great many books and love adding to my collection. [sageivyberyl]
Don't feel guilty. A few years ago we were moving and my husband said that if I got rid of some of my books he would replace them later. I asked him if he would replace the paperbacks with hardbacks and he said yes. I got rid of over 360 paperbacks. It made no difference. I still had more then 33 boxes of books left. I have since replaced about half of the old books. My husband did not realize what he got himself into. I am reaping the rewards. [sageivyberyl]

hi p1kef1sh. I love reading books. I don't have a lot of spare time lately, but still I try to find a moment to read. I like to read before going to bed. Generally I borrow books, sometimes I receive them as gifts. I rent a flat so I don't want to have many books on my own. It would be difficult to move with tons of the books;). I like to read novels. Generally non-fiction, but lately my boyfriend borrowed me fiction book, and I like it very much. I'd liek to read more, of course. I think the only way to do it is to quit my job LOL. have a nice day, jazgottt. [jazgottt]
hehe I won't quit my job, because I don't want to come back to live with my parents at the age of 26;). I'd liek to work only from home, but it is not possible now for me. I hope I will work only from home in the future. cherrio, jazgottt. [jazgottt]

I like to read, but more often, I am writing. I did most of my reading when I was younger up to my thirties, and now when I read it is slower, a chapter or a few pages a day so that I can digest it, and I do not have time. Not only that, I have to have plenty of light and also if the print is not dark enough, my reading glasses. I love fiction, love mystery and suspense, and science fiction and fantasy, but I am also a Jane Austin fan. If I could read fast, and remember all that I would, I would read more. [suspenseful]
Have you or are you writing a book? I am not an Austen fan especially but there is no doubt that she is a fine exponent of the art of romantic writing. [p1kef1sh]

I have hundreds of books back at home, waiting for me to return from working overseas. I'm fairly certain that if I sat down to work out exactly how much I've spent on books over the years, I would find that I could have paid off my house with the money I've spent. I will read anything and everything - science fiction, fantasy, crime, horror, classics, romance, chick lit, reference, biographies, journals ..... the list goes on. [kriszelunka]
LOL. Oh yes I am sure that we could all have paid of our mortgages if we had given the money to the bank rather than the bookseller. Glad I didn't though. [p1kef1sh]

I make a habit of giving away my books when I finish. Sometimes I drop them in the book return slot at the library, even if I didn't get them there. I sometimes leave them on the reading table at doctor's offices, which is usually a good thing as it makes English reading material, which is rare here in Quebec. Most offices have only French things. This also works really well with overstock on children's books, just leave a few here and there at clinics, offices, or ER waiting rooms, regardless of whether your living area has a language problem or not. [kbkbooks]
That's very generous and a great idea. I struggle to get rid of books, but if they are going to a good cause it must make losing them a little easier. I have some French friends that have moved to Quebec, they are always saying how lazy their English has become since they moved. I must point them in the direction of your Drs etc! Thank you for your reply. [p1kef1sh]

I read everywhere and all times of the day, sometimes I'll just read all day. I read fiction almost exclusively, I've read some biographies but can't see why someone would only read them. All non fiction is reference to me so I just look at them when I need to find out something. [Foxfire1875]
There is usually a good story, you're right there, it's just facts and figures make me switch off when I read, so I find it difficult to read a non fiction completely, it's the same problem with biographies. [Foxfire1875]

I love reading and only wish I could spend more time doing it. These days I spend a lot of time on the net (on sites such as this) and don't spend as much time reading as I once used to. I have well over 500 books though and have read pretty much all of them. I love crime fiction such as Agatha Christie and have about 40-50 of her novels. My husband only reads non-fiction but we don't have much of that as he's not an avid reader at all. Thanks for starting such a cool discussion pal. x [anonymili]
It's important to maintain a balance I think. You are clearly a real Agatha Christie aficionado. When I was young she lived in our local town in Oxfordshire with her husband who I think was an archaeologist. She was pretty much a recluse from the town, but occasionally we would see her out and about. She was quite grand looking, but unless she was pointed out to you, I don't think that you would have thought "there goes the Queen of Crime". [p1kef1sh]

I was horrified when I heard on the news that only 57% (or was it 47%) of American adults have read ONE book in the past year. I just can't imagine that. I read hundreds each year. I read both fiction and non-fiction. I usually have several books going at once. I really don't stick to one genre or subject, though I do have my favorites. I read whatever piques my interest at the time. Lately I've been reading a lot of crime fiction and non-fiction. Other interests include neuroscience, anything culinary related, literary fiction. I recently saw a commercial that said if you love to read, and your children see you reading, your kids will also be avid readers. I must be in the minority. When they were little kids, they were avid readers. Now that they're teenagers, they only open a book if it's assigned to them by their teachers, and even then, they might refer to Cliff's Notes or the like. I hope one day that will change. [KATRINKA]
I think I will fall over dead if one of my kids asks me for money to buy a book, and not one that is assigned at school. You described my kids to a t. I'll join you in fantasyland. [KATRINKA]

Oh I love reading. I am a voracious reader of fantasy fiction (and some science fiction) and I always have a book with me. I can't imagine what my life be without this important component!:P [lordwarwizard]
Reading is such an adventure. I confess that I am not much into fantasy but I can see the appeal. [p1kef1sh]

no... umm.. wait.. what? sorry, haven't slept in two days.. [posham]

Yes I read a lot. So does my husband. We both like to read fiction books as well. Our favourites are mystery books. I probably read about 4 books every month and my husband probably reads about 6 a month. He reads more than me because I am in mylot a lot and since that takes up some of my time, he ends up reading more than me. When we are finsihed reading a book, both of us, we either trade them in at the second hand book store, we get one for three, or we give them away to one of my sisters. I always let my sisters look at them first and then if none of them want the books, we trade them. We also buy all our books at the second hand book store or at garage sales. I will not pay full price for a book, they are way too expensive. [chrislotz]
I agree, books can be very expensive, although when you compare them with magazine costs they seem a little more acceptable. My problem is that I cannot get rid of my books, trading wouldn't be an option. BUt I hope that you enjoy many more years reading. Thank you. [p1kef1sh]

I read for pleasure, dude. :) I'm a sucker for books and literature. I don't know but I'm really satisfied once I have my own share of pages for a day. Well, I'm collecting books of my own rather strange taste in books which would eventually add up for my dream library. [cr0ssf41r13]
Eclectic surely, not strange. Good for you. The more you read, the better read you will be. [p1kef1sh]

I love to read. It's my passion, although since discovering myLot I don't read as much as I used to. I am a fiction reader. I primarily read romance and comedy fiction. Sometimes I wil read suspense or mystery, but there has to be a good romance tied in. I also love historical novels and many of the classics. [dfn12968]
Since I found myLot I seem to do nothing but read. Other peoples posts! LOL. I know what you mean though. Shall I just read a page, oh no, there's a message in... [p1kef1sh]

My husband and I are both avid readers and writers, with our own books published. I have a cookbook out, and he has three science fiction novels published. I like to read non-fiction, but if a fictitious account is read enough, I'll read it. I like stories that are very realistic, if I choose to read fiction. [danishcanadian]
I have been know to go to bed with a cook book too. I love non-fiction although at present I am reading a little more fiction. [p1kef1sh]

I love to read. Mostly, I read at night before falling asleep....actually it helps me fall asleep. It started soon after i was married by reading harlequin romance because they were at every yard sale that i ever went to. It didn't take long to get itred of them...they are pretty much the same story. I then started going to the library...and OMG! I had to control myself and not take an armload of books. my neighbor sent over a huge box of book before Christmas, so I am making my way through them. My mother also likes to read, so when she finished a book she gives it to me to read as well. I have 2 sons 17 and 11 and I only wish they loved to read as uch as I do. It's like pulling teeth to get them to read. Nadine [Nadinest]
That's great that you are reading so much. Don't worry to much about your sons. Just make sure that they have the opportunity. They will when they want to I have no doubt. Thank you. [p1kef1sh]
