Do You Respond Discussion For Which Best Response Has Been Selected

I have noticed a lot of people choose best response among the first three responses they recieve for their discussion. Or that they choose the best response from the first page itself? Do you think it is right? Also, how many people read responses from other other than those on page one? Also, please discuss if you click respond to the discussion on page one or read till the last and then respond? Also, Do you continue to respond the discussion having read that the best response is already selected? Also, do you answer it with interest knowing the person has already got the answer he expected and rated best?

responses and comments:

its doesnot matter the discussion which likes me i give them the response. [fakegod]
Yeah!!!! This is the same in me too I respond any topic which I like [frankyy]

If the topic has already got a lot of responses I always read them all to see if somebody has already said what I would have responded with. If so, then I don't bother to respond. I would still respond, even if the best response has been selected, if I can provide additional information, although I think the poster should wait and read most of the responses before selecting a best response. But the, I suppose everybody has their own way of doing things. [Alexandria37]

If I have something to say on the topic of the discussion, I always give a response. [sweetlady10]

well i do not really care if i am 100th person to respond and weather a best response is selected or not...i prefer to publish my point of view in any case, if i like to the discussion...it is really difficult to find good discussions on mylot anyways so it would not heart to respond to the one's which exist.. [amgupta]

There are some cases where people jump the gun in rating the best response. In other cases, such as one that was brought up earlier, a discussion had been posted weeks before but only a couple of responses had been posted. How much longer was the discussion starter supposed to wait to see if someone else was going to respond? I try to wait a week or so before rating a response. There is no reason why I should not rate a response from a choice of 2 or 3 when the post has been there for a week or more. I will respond to a post that has already been rated. I'm not in it to get rated best response (that's just a bonus). I am here to provide my input. If my response is good, then I would hope I would get a + since best response has already been rated. I do read through all the other responses first because I can comment on other posts as well as the original discussion when I respond. [patgalca]

It all depends upon the expectations of the poster and the purpose of his posting the response that when should he go to announce the best response. Well the poster gifts excellence to the response which contains the best resolution to his post or which has some valuable information in pursuit of the post's purpose. And such response can be any whether it is from the first page or the last page or even from among 2 responses only. Before electing the best response, the poster knows well how best the other future exepectable responses could be. Well it is a clause under Dont's of response section approved by the myLot.com that nobody should respond a post before going through all existing responses to that post. So how many of us obey this rule, nobody can say except the poster who goes through all the responses to his post. As far as i am concerned, i dont respond before viewing existing responses. And where there are large number of existing responses ( say above 80 or 100 ), i dont respond as it is very time consuming to go through all of those responses and also probability is very low to post a new matter in our response to such posts having that very large number of responses. No matter whether the poster has selected the best response or not, if i have some valuable information regarding that post to include in my response, i will definitely participate in that discussion. As far as my interest is concerned while responding such a discussion already having the best response, i am very exciting to respond when i have enviable matter to say in my response. [Enticer]

Yes I still answer questions with the best response already chosen. I mainly will respond to a discussion because I am interested in what they are discussing and have something to say about it. When I start a discussion, I usually wait about a week to allow others to see it and give time for more responses before choosing the best response, sometimes the discussions get "burried", and it may have just been posted today, but 10 pages later you'll find it. I just like to respond to things I like to talk about or are interesting, being chosen for the best response isn't my main goal. [Kscott]

I read every reply to a discussion before I reply even if it's five pages long. I look to see if someone else might have the same reply that I would have-then I don't reply. If there is something that I can add then I go ahead and reply. Even though the discussion might already be marked with a best response I still reply. The person that posted the discussion still might come back and read any additional replys after they marked best response. I have seen many discussions that are only a few hours old and they already have a best answer marked but if I feel that I can contribute in any way than I go ahead and reply. [enchantedemerald]

i do respond to the discussion with the best response selected infact i dont actually see if the user selected a best response or not i just respond depending on the discussion if it is an interesting discussion i respond and if it not that interesting i do not i donno if the best response matters or not but the rating matters responding with the best quality of response should be our aim i have responded to a similar discussion with the same question before so please search guesss the search engine will work properly now with the new feature of mylot [guesswhomsa]

Sincerely. I hate the numbers, I do not do case to the numbers of one discusssione. I answer the not long requests of my interest. I do not like lediscussioni a lot long. If I see a friend's avatar I often read. Read the answers, not all to the maximum about twenty, and do not make case to the best. [miryam]

it upto them.i do read responses in the other pages.i sometimes respond to discussions which had already have a best response.i do read the discussions fully.i have no problem with responding to discussions as long as they interest me. [casper20]
yes but while reading all the responses you can easily get bored after reading for x time the same and boring anwser! [korek222]

I try to read as many responses as possible before responding... I hate repeating what others have said (although, in some cases, it seems appropriate). It's irrelevant to me if a best response has already been selected. If the discussion is really interesting, then I enjoy being able to participate along with everyone else :) [thinkingoutloud]

it does matter for a discussion to respond if best response is already selected as we our awn fellings for any topic and we have the right to express it i definitely read all respones for my discussions and then select the best response from among them [ten_tons35]

I response only the discussion who for me are interesting for response. IT doenst matter if the discussion are not been selected as the best. [anja31]

irrespective of best response is chosen i respond with full intrest if the topic is of my intrest. i wait for a for few days and then go through all responses and select best once. i feel user should read all responses before selecting best response [arpita_onlinejob]

I always respond whether or not the best response "award" has been given if it's something that I want to talk about. Even if the original poster doesn't read any more responses, there might be someone else out there who would like to have the information that I have to offer. I only started yesterday so I haven't rated any of my discussions yet. But when I do, it will be after they've been cold for at least 2 or 3 days, and I will pick out of all of the responses. If I feel like a discussion is one that I want to respond to I always read all the way through. I hate reading the exact same thing over and over again so I don't like to just add to it. [carlaabt]

best or worst I always respond to topics of my interest. You are true in the sense most of them want to speak out and never want to hear others.at least the back benchers. This is not right. Our voice may be feeble but the ideas may be strong. Give an ear to us also!! [raveemenon]

I'll still respond even if the best response was already picked. I don't usually expect to get it anyway, it's just nice if I happen to. I don't like it when people choose the best response so quickly, but I can sort of see why they do it. I choose the best response after I feel there is one and there are a significant number of posts. But sometimes when I go back weeks later I realize I never chose a best response for a certain discussion. So I guess if you start a lot of discussions, you might want to hurry and pick so that you don't forget. I'll read all the responses in a discussion I find interesting, and always all of the responses in my own discussions. But generally I think people do tend to look at the first page the most. [Pigglies]

I think it's an optional thing. For me, i would think that the discussion is free to choose which they think it's the best response. But it's not fair if the owner choose the best response to soon. Those late comers could not get it even though their response is among the best. But i think we shouldn't focus too much in getting the best response. It might help our reputation in mylot but if we are too concentrate on this, we will lose fun and miss oppotunity to read interesting discussion (coz you might just don't want to read further if you found out that the best response had been chosen) [cheongyc]

No we can still continue our responses to the discussion... still our responses are taken into count.. i have made it sometimes.. i think they will consider that too.. [flower3in7]

ya. i do. i dont mind if the best response has been already selected. If i feel i have a point to make then i will certainly respond to it. [suhail22886]

That's quite stupid, cause the chance you get (when there is no one yet rewarded for best response) to have the best response is very little mostly, and most even forget I think. And mostly they just appreciate the response, so often the fastest response gets rewarded, which is a bit wrong I think. You have to wait till there's no more reaction on your topic and than look out for the best one. [jajatisalgoe]

I think it depends on the person, maybe that person has a personal favorite. Sometimes when you already got the best answer, you will have to mark it as bes respons because some are just copying the response of others. [faylinn_chaeli]

it does not matter to me tht the beset response has been accepted or not..i reply to those discussions tht my mind n heart asks me tu do..money is not everything in life..one shud not betray his mind n heart for money..so i reply to all those discussions tht make me feel like [07011987]

Yes, I respond to the discussions where the best response is already chosen. It does not matter if the best response is chosen or not, I think it is more important to express your views and participate in discussions than avoiding the discussions where the best discussion is chosen. It does not mean that the responses after choosing the best response are not good enough, there could be a number of good responses coming in even after a response is chosen. The spirit to participate and contribute is important, I think. Thanks. [neo2neo]

I just keep on responding even if there is already selected as best response to give my view on the subject matter. I occasionally read responses for is we do, because of the huge number sometimes, we can no longer post our response as we might consume the whole day reading responses. It's up for the one who posted to select the best response and so if he has already selected, that is his own right or prerogative, we can't do anything but to say what we want to in response if we so desire. [whacks]

If the topic is good, yeah I'll still reply. [Jemmifire]

I still give out my opinion no matter. If someone already said almost the same thing with me, Il just i agree with her and that we have the same idea of what we are talking about. mylot isnt just earning money u know. Its also a way for us to exchange ideas and let other people know what we think. [sechsey]

I choose discussions based on what I'm interested in posting about. Also, it takes time to read the responses. I have only selected one best answer on one of the discussions that I initiated. I had quite a few responses and I read all of them. But so far I've only done that on one. I do plan to read the responses to all of the discussions that I have initiated but it's going to take time. [phantsy]

It doesn't mean whether the discussion is top rated or not the most important thing is that whether i like the topic of the discussion or not? If i like it then i will definitely give my resposne. [fakegod]

Personally I will always take sometimes to go through all my responses to my discussions which normally it will take longer time for me to donates a best responses mark for that discussion. To me the contents of the responses and does respond right to my topic was the only things I judge for best respond. I will still responses to any discussions topics even the "best respond" had been selected provided it can attracts my interest. [dellion]

Well, there are some of my discussions I have been able to pick a Best Response from right away because of something someone might have responded with, but then sometimes it has taken me going thru all of the posts to pick one. It just depends on who I can connect with the most I think. And as for responding to a post, I feel a lot of times, it depends on what my feelings really are on that topic whether I read to see how others respond, or if I respond first, and then read some others later. And as if Best response has been picked, Yes, I still respond if I feel I can give something to that discussion, as a lot of people do read and care about the way others on here feel. [KrauseHome]

Yes I always do,as it doesnt make a diference if it has or not,if I like the discussion I put in my response :) [Tynnac]

It is not right to select best response from the first page or from first 3 responses, not wrong also if got a realy best response.Response should be selected best according to the quality or one should feel yes this i wanted, then only it can be choosen best.I do the same i read all if i feel yes this is what i want then i choose that the best [hegde_parvathi]

i think is depending by ourself. We want to respond back or not. But, the best is give a respond to anyone. Thanks. [kostar07]

ya i never cared for that.. i respond to discussions i feel i can [jayaramayodhya]

It really does not matter if I get the best response or no. Yes I do respond even if the User has marked the best response if I feel like giving a response to the discussion. [raveena]

HONESTLY SPEAKING YOU NEVER KNOW WHICH ONE'S GONNA BE THE LAST RESPONSE... BUT I WAIT FOR 4-5 DAYS BEFORE MARKING THE BEST RESPONSE... [saswat_13]

i still post my response even if there is already a best response chosen by the threadstarter. by the way, what's the purpose of rating which is the best answer? for rating or additional earnings? [jeb083079]

Yes sometimes i do answer for question which have already selected as best answer but i reply if i think there must be something to be filled which is not answered completely becouse the asker is not the one who really know about it but there are many people who might not feel setisfied with that answer which have been selected as best........ [deepestblue]

Well i do answer to the discussions the user has selected the best answere, coz it does not means that the discussion is closed its just means at that time the owner found it to be best suited but he may get a better answere, how will he know until we respond... [abhax123]

i mst say it depends! in the begininning i read all replies. But after like 2-3 pages i et used to what people say so i just skip the short ones and focus on th long replies and always post + ratings. And by reading long ones i try to get to the end of he discussion what is sometims hard especially while reading there are tons of new posts so i just skip like pages above 10 or 15 and them reply :) Even if best response have been selected i just repond to show my opinion aout the problem about wich the discussion is about! [korek222]

I would know I dont take the time to rate a persons discussion. I find there is no time for that. I try to answer 70 to 80 discussions in a day. So therefore no time for that. [TerryZ]

I made a couple mistakes early on where I accidently pushed the wrong button and picked the wrong response and where I inadvertently picked a cut and paster. So now I'm more careful. I usually wait a week to see what comes in and then pick a best response. [irisheyes]

infact i donno with all ppls bt i ll study all my topics responds then only i ll respond them as the best ones [vnssmart5]

Well that is a lot of Questions lol and I will tell you yes to all I am not just going for best response on here if I see something Interresting I will respond no matter wether best response is gone or not and yes I will always put my Response in as everyone has different views on things [gabs8513]

When I'm reading a topic of my interest and I think that I can contribute in some way, I usually answer even if there is already a best response selected. I always consider all the responses for picking the best one, not only those from the first page. But I understand that some people may need a fast answer, so they pick it very soon. And yes, I read the responses of other users before replying, in order to avoid repeating things (and this is recommended according to the myLot guidelines). [jotace]

ya why not if i think i can help my friend on that topic i will post my reply on that topic and i think all of us need to do that right [SACH4ISHA]

Yeah i do respond the discussions even when the best response has been selected. I Response the best i can and i do it not to get the best response Award but just to put my part in the topics that concerns me. [dareformore]

I will respond regardless of whether best response has been given or not.I will respond if the discussion interests me. [ausnikki]

you may be true but be yourself in responding [kmgupta]

I haven't chosen any best response yet from all of the discussion that I posted yet... I don't know maybe someday or any day from now I will... I would just respond to discussion that has appeal to me... It doesn't matter if they are marked as best response or whatever... As long as the discussion is good I will put some comment... Just like this one... [yenoh03]

Well resonding to the discussion depends on the topics and not on whehet the person has selected the best response or not.........and i think it is lot better to respond to the discussion and not to think about whether the best response has been selected or not [prashantbhargav]

i will still respond if the best answer has been chosen but do always feel a bit silly doing it. I do try to read all the responses but will not respond if it is a straight forward question and the answer has already been received best of luck keep posting [ESKARENA1]

i dnt worry bout getting the best response. so even if bset response has been chosen, i would respond to a discussion if it is of my interest or liking. And as for others, i dnt think people have the tendency to mark te best response in first three pages. [anc350]

Well, if what you say is right, it's a sad situation. I think, people should wait for at least one day before choosing the best answer. Others need time to read and respond to their discussion. I only respond to discussion I am interested in and don't care about the best answer is chosen or not. [loitran]

First of all,I don't think that we have to choose best response from the first three or four responses we receive at our discussions.I use to read the responses till the last, but, mea culpa, not always. If I really have sth to say at a discussion that has a best response selected,I do it. [Lylyana]

I do response to discussions whose best response are selected ,I mean what difference it makes. Youu cant be such diplomatic and materialistic. If you are on mylot just for makking money then.........you wont respond but I am here not only for money. [shivampanchal]

To be honest i donot even thing of that Maybe because i seldom post a topic for discussion .I am responding 95percent of the time here....Problem is that a topic sticks around it seems for months I have responded to topics and noted that it was launched 4 months ago I have several responses that rated a + didnot happen so no big deal I think this form of evaluation is ridiculous and am not supporting it I was a teacher and spend a career evaluating and it was the toughest part of my job One year some time ago i marked a entire set of English papers and my average mark was 66 I handed the same papers to the other English teacher and he marked (I left no indication of how i graded ) His average mark for the same papers was 76 .....It would be interesting to see the stats for for how many positive rated + 's were given for an entire different viewpoint/opinion to what of the member posted in his topic discussion When i say i am against the rating system and it should be abolished do you think i would even get a sniff at receiving best response It does not matter because i will survive If i see a topic with 50+ responses i pass but because i am sure after 50 responses i can not add to anything that has already been said not because the best was likely already handed out Good Luck and Have a Great Day [maddy37]

actually if i get some good posts then i see all the responses..i also respond if the best respond is also choosen.. [ppssmm]

Some times yes and sometimes no. It all depend on the discussion. If I want to response to it even if the best response has been given, I will response to it. But if its a discussion I don't like, I would just skip it, and look for other discussion. [omega007]

i do see that trend also that those best responses are those among the first three.sometimes i dont botehr to see if there's best responseas long as the topic is interesting i do asnwer them and post a quality response ofcourse. [angel_jean]

I always choose the topic I'm interested in and will carry on from there. [6sa6an6]

Well... I'm fairly new here, so I don't really know much about the whole "best response" thing. So yes, if I have something to say/add to the discussion, I'll respond regardless of whether it's been selected. I'm not sure how everyone else decides the best response, so I can't really comment there. I do try to read every response before I post. Sometimes, though, there are over a hundred responses and I simply can't get through them all. I do try to at least read the first 3 or 4 pages, though, to get a feel for the discussion, and I try to read the last few posts. Sometimes, though, I do post after reading just the first page. That's because I have thoughts going in my head about responding and what I'd like to say and I'm afraid if I read all the responses, I'll end up forgetting what I wanted to say! If I do that, though, I will try to read as many responses as I can and comment on them if I have something to add. [reindeerpaws]

I read what I have time for, and if a best response has been selected it doens't bother me, because I'm not in it for the ratings. If a subject line catches my eye I'll read the conversation regardless of responses . [danishcanadian]

Some have done this including me. Sometimes the discussion has been sitting there for quite a while so the topic starter had to choose the best response. But also sometimes, when the user has chosen the best response some users still want to post to that discussion as they are interested in it. If a discussion has gotten a lot of response say 100 responses or more, I don't usually read all the posts as my computer is a little bit slow so it eats up most of my time so I just read the first to second pages of the discussion and hit the respond to this discussion button. It doesn't matter if a discussion has a best response or not. I still do respond to discussions with best response as I'm interested with the topic or I would like to add an advice if it were seeking for advice. [profcentral]

i use to do so... but very few,.. [imakella]

yes, that's really anoying when they do that choosing the best response among the first three and not reading the whole responses but I don't respond discussions just to get the best response if the topik interests me then I respond and this is a nice discussion by the way, keep it up :-) [Nahara]

I usually read and entire discussion if it's not like 15 pages long. I really don't mind if the best response has already been selected. I have noticed the best responses usually do fall on the 1st page. In some cases I have seen the best response selected in a matter of hours. [trouble4u2avoid]

i still answer the discussion even if the user had already selected his or her best response. if i want to answer that discussion then i will answer it, no more things taken into consideration. i'll just go straight to the idea that put me to that page - to answer. [mskzalameda]
