I have been wearing eye glasses since I was 19. I took the driving test then at the age of 19. I failed the first time because I couldn't read the road signs correctly. I was advised to have an eye test and get the right eye glasses. I passed the test after I got them. Do you wear eye glasses ? At what age did you start wearing them ?

Hey greenline! I have been wearing glasses since I was in my forties. I started to not be able to see things close up and I need reading glasses. As each year went by the prescriptions got stronger and the vision got worse. I now need glasses for distance too. That is not fun at all. I actually need two different prescriptions because I am farsighted and myopic! If I take my glasses off and put them down I need a pair to find them! lol [Opal26]
no...i dont wear eye glasses right now. although i had an eye test and told me that i have astigmatism.i dont have to wear it right now but i have to be cautious in using the light at the right angle when reading or writing. but sometimes i had this weird feeling after an hour in the computer (headaches and quezzy feeling)... so i'd better make an appointment again with the doctor. When I was a kid in like Kindergarden I had to wear eye glasses because I had a lazy eye,and I had to strengthen it,and then I did not have to wear them anymore,and now I have to wear glasses when I drive because I am nearsighted,so I have trouble seeing signs and things that are far away,and it even says on my license that I have to wear glasses,and if I get pulled over and I am not wearing my glasses I could get a ticket. Hello Greenline, only my reading glasses. I think that was only 5 or 6 years ago. But i can still read without them though, only big letters. Having glasses on sure helps a lot for me to read but i just can't keep them on always. When i a reading books, i can only wear them for an hour or so, they give me pain on my nose bridge. I don't remember how old I was but I was in elementary school. I am near sighted so when I am home , I don't need to wear them. but when I gp out, I need them. since the age of four. I remember my grandmother chiding me for not telling them sooner that my vision was off the mark, but as far as I knew, this was the way the world looked like. Contacts were not an option in the 60's, and even as laser operations became available, the risks are still unacceptable to me. If there is a chance it does not work, I am not spending thousands of dollars for the chance. I am not a rich person. and I do not want the chance to have to live my life as a blind person either. I'll just wear a pear of big lenses in front of my eyes. I have absolutely no problem with that. [Qaeyious]

I always had great vision until the age of 20, when I started working at the phone company and sat in front of this horrible computer screen that was a dark grey with green for the characters...don't know if that is what did it or not, but then I became nearsited and it has continued to get worse with age. I got my first pair of glasses when I was 8. I hated them and could see without them (though not well), so I often forgot them and left them around. After awhile I broke them and it was years before I got another pair. My vision has gotten pretty bad and I don't think they should have passed me with the vision test when I went and got my most recent driver's license. She kept saying can you repeat that line. Can you repeat that line. How about the last two letters. I wondered how many times you could get it wrong and still pass...apparently quite a few. Yes, I have worn glasses since the age of five. I have had a few years in there with contacts, but I made sure that I still have my glasses as a back up. It was hard wearing glasses at the age of five. I had those glasses shaped like cat eyes and the children would call me cat eyes. That is kind of rough on a little kid. I was 6 months (yes that is months) when I started to wear glasses. I was told that if a babies eyes are not lined up straight by the time they are about 6-7 months old, they should get checked. I have a lazy eye and had to wear a "patch" for quite a few years. That actually saved the sight in my right eye. I basically was legally blind in the right eye when I was born so the patch worked. I do wear a patch every now and then (I am 46) so it keeps that eye strong. I haven't worn the patch in a few years so maybe I might start doing it again. I still have my glasses to this day. I had to wear glasses when I was in 4th grade. During that time, I was actually excited. Wearing glasses in my school is not exactly a taboo. After a year, I started not to wear them anymore. I mean i can still 'see' without it so it's not a necessity for me. I only used it whe my eyes start to hurt. Until I had cataract surgery on June 1st I wore glasses, and had been wearing them since I was 6 yrs. old. So far I am still not having to wear any as I had cataract surgery on my left eye July 13th, and I can see pretty well except for small numbers up close. So unless something happens between now and September 4th when I have my next eye exam I think if anything I will just need reading glasses from time to time instead. [KrauseHome]
