Do You Wear Eyeglasses

I'm still a young adult but I think that my eyes are getting dim. I can't see clearly objects that are afar off from me. The last time I went to have an eye check-up, my vision was not 20/20 but went up to 75. I think I need an eyeglass. How about you, are you wearing glasses? How can I choose the right one? Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated!lollol

I started wearing glasses about 10 years ago. It was getting harder and harder to focus on small print or small objects. Threading needles was becoming difficult. Now I can see very well with glasses. It makes life more enjoyable. I also have a lot less headaches because I am not adjusting my focus as much. [royal52gens]

I started wearing glasses pretty young - when I was in the third grade. Any symptoms in vision and eye should be checked up thoroughly. I would suggest you have a complete check up and see what the problem is and get correct glasses prescribed. Ask the doctor if contact lenses will be OK - they are a little more expensive but more convenient and dont affect the way you look! [pitstop]

being in your 30s, it might be better (and cheaper in the long run) to get lasik surgery. your eyes do the most of their changes from age 15 to around 30. so for most people your age, what you have now is what you should have until you get into your late 50s. lasik is getting cheaper and more widespread. if you get it, you won't have to worry about losing your glasses, or breaking your glasses, or buying contacts. like i said better and cheaper than wearing glasses. [sparky4641]

I agree with the above responses. I only use reading glasses because the muscle in the eye becomes weakened to see close up when you get around 50 years old. This condition, though, should still be looked at by an eye doctor to confirm what lens best fits a person. I love going to our eye doctor because he is such a happy person. He has helped my daughter out very much who does wear glasses and has poor eyesight. It took her a while to get used to the contact lenses. We made sure that she could put the lenses in and take them out on her own before making a full purchase of contacts. She switches between glasses and contacts depending on things like reading, computer work, driving, etc. I think having glasses makes a person look smart in more ways than one. [sysdexlicwriter]

young adult?!! hahaha neevr mind,i wear glasses too...in fact i've begus to wear lenses too... specs only create a prob when u want to wear goggles [zui_strumming]
OMG ! Is that so ?! [:P] and who are you ?? His chum !? i guess so ! [zui_strumming]

Well I am wearing eyeglasses. I am working most of the time on Computer. To avoid damage from this light from monitor I would prefer to wear it. It has anti-clear glass which reduces strain on your eyes. Bye [rakesh284]

I don't need to wear eyeglasses anymore. There were two different periods, during my teens, when I did need to wear them. I'm not saying that I have perfect vision. All I'm saying is that my vision is good enough that I don't need to wear glasses. [dodo19]

I've been wearing glasses since I was 18 months old, and to decide what glasses you need you should go to an eye doctor. as for types of glasses that's up to you and the style you think you will look good in. you should be allowed to try on any pair of glasses in a store to check to see how you look in them. either that or you can get contacts :) [Shawchert]

I don't wear any sunglasses. I used to wear them many years ago. I started with a big dioptry. Luckily after some years I could get rid of them as I was treated well from the younghood. If you want to choose the right ones, go to an eye specialist who can help you measuring the problem. I think this is the best way to see if You need any sunglasses or not. [mahjonggg]

I having been wearing glasses since I was 11 so that's a very long time! I was like you, Icouldn't dostinguish things far away. Then over the years things changed. Now I can see things far away but i can't see to read doh So I have to keep changing my glasees. If you are having problems don't wait too long. You never kow what you might be missing wink [mysdianait]
w00tw00t Yeah thanks! [learn2earn]

Yeah, i must wear it. I have one D&G model [alehell]

there used to be a saying that said 'men dont make passes to girls who wear glasses' this is no longer the case! there are so many great looking glasses out there these days. they are like shoes, you cannot only stick to one pair! :-) [cher913]

I started to have shortsighted when i was like sixteen years old, i first notice it when i was unable to see my teacher writing those words on the blackboard while i was sitting a distant from the blackboard. I was suggested by a local doctor to see an eye optometrist. There i was been introduce many types shapes of eyeglasses. Eyeglasses has many types of shapes and style, you may take your time to choose one. If you are driving or riding a bike, i would suggest you to get a multi coated lense. This type of lense is what i am wearing now, it will turn into dark color like a sunglasses when you are under the hot sun. And when you are in a shade place or indoor , the glass begins to turn into normal again by itself. I do not know latest technology of the lense lately. But you may ask the optometrist about what lense type do they have. Do not forget about the price too. [heehaw78]

My eye sight is and always has been really good, i must have ate my carrots when i was younger. I don't need glasses at all. [marc1874]

Yes, I do. As for your question, I suggest you save up your money and go to Pearle Vision. They can help you get the glasses that's right for you. Be breezy!!! M-DIESEL 30gS [eyeneed30Gs]

hi.. there are many computerized examination why dont you try.. its very difficult for me to see small letters but my doctor says i dont need to wear eyeglasses..i tried computerized eye consulting and they choose the eye glasses that i will going to wear.. i wear it when i cant see letters, [marketing07]

It is only your doctors can tell you if you need an eyeglass or not. I have eyeglasses for me. It is +.25 in power. I can't see things properly, suffering from glaucoma. A dangerous disease for eyes which can't be cured but only be removed by operating my eyes. I am hoping that the eyeglass and the eyedrops can avoid the operations. [sanuanu]

I am 33 years old and I have been glasses since I was about 6 years old. :) I think vision varies for the person. Your eyes are very important, and I think that you should definitely start wearing glasses or contacts. There is a website where you can get glasses around $8.00 with a prescription. I wish I would have known about it before I bought my prescribed glasses which were $154.00 with examination. This little site is http://www.zennioptical.com. You give them your prescription from a doctor and choose a frame, you get them in about two weeks. I hope this helps you save some money on glasses and hope you get to seeing better. Have a great day! [samafayla33]

No,I haven't wear eyeglasses.my right eye cant see clearly, but my left one is ok,so I think I dont need eyeglasses. You want to choose the right one,you should wear it and look through the eyeglasses,if you feel comfortable, that's the right one. [moneysecond]

I have a lazy eye and had glasses when i was younger but never really wore them... i think i probably need them now too but i don't know... i need to have an eye check up myself. i haven't had one in forever... and if you think you need them then talk to your eye doctor and try some? [sameroad]

I wear eyeglasses too though I hate it. If you must to wear eyeglasses, I suggest you go to a professional eyeglasses store and do the professional optometry. Finally, don't try to save money for it because a not good eyeglasses is also worse to your eye. [freerr]

yes i do wear eyeglasses... in fact, i wear it since i am still a young girl... i can't give you suggestions on how to choose for the right one though... just make sure that the prescription is right and when you wear it, you can see clearly... good luck... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]

i personally do not wear glasses. So i am afraid that i can't help you with the choices,sorry.. [ahslack]

Firstly I did not get eye glasses as I did not have the 'dim' problem but had head ache and made it my dear for the past 20 years or so. Now I an in the 'dim' state and can not read the small letters and I have not seen a doctor yet but I am sure I have some problem with my eyes. I am still with the old classes. Now I think time is ripe I went for changes. [krajibg]

I am wearing both spectacle and contact lens. If you are an active person who always on the move, involve in sport activities as well as leisure activities, then wearing contact lens will be useful and more convenience. But if you spend most of your time reading and staying at home, then wearing a spectacle is better. I have been wearing contact lenses for almost 16 years and I'm still feel comfortable wearing it now. [kaiwah]

I wore glasses since I was in junior high school. that's about 8 years already. I think there're some problem in the system of China's education, because a majority of students ,especially for college students, wear glasses.the situation is worse and worse.Seemingly that chinese students won't be able to attend college until he/she wears glasses, that is to say,to sacrifice their eyes. [gallantman]

oh,yes,i am wearing eyeglasses right now! it is true that when i was still a little girl.i saw somebody else were nice with the eyeglasses. so i bacame admired them and begun to read under the dim light. how happy i was when i eventually checked-up my eye and i was told to wear eyeglasses. that is ridiculous right? so it is! now my vision is bad and i just wear the eyeglasses when i need to look at the blackboard. i am regret for having done that before. [panmin]

Yes I do use reading glasses. [balasri]

I wear glasses ever since I was in 1st grade and I hate wearing glasses LOL. However the styles now are very nice and not bulky like they use to be. Because my face is more of an oval I find wearing rectangle glasses frame my face better.Make sure you being someone who you trust to to help you pick glass frames. [misslovelyfiles]

hey, if your degree is not too bad try practising some exercises for your eyes. Such as looking at more greenery. Eating carrot (but not excessively, cause it will cause your skin to turn yellow). Do not squint. Do not stare. Wear sunglasses (with UV protection). Avoid looking at anything glaring. I have known some friends whose eyesight got better and the degree actually decrease. Good luck! [bbtort]

All my life I've had perfect vision. I would lay on my bed on my belly with my nose in a book reading with no problems till two years ago. I noticed I had to pull my face a little away from the book to see it better, then I had to move it further away, then further, and further till my neck started hurting having my head pulled up so far from the book. After a few months of this I found I had to start sitting up to read and finally when I discovered I had to hold the book far away and squint, it was time to see an eye doctor. Sure enough, I was getting far sighted! I needed reading glasses! When I put those glasses on I was shocked to see just how bad I needed them! Now I can again read like I use to. The doctor said it happens to everybody when they get past a certain age, oh well, I am close to 60! My glasses are just reading glasses but you sound like you'll need other kinds of glasses and I don't know anything about them, sorry. [xbrendax]

yes i wear. I also wear it from school days when I was in class 10th.My eye sight is bad and the power of specs are also increasing day by day. [subha12]

My vision is not good too..I tried to use lenses before but I quit coz I always forgot to remove it befor I sleep.. That's why I'm wearing eyeglasses [jangmihoney]

I done wear eyeglasses but well if you have sight problem its better to consult to the eye specialist and then go for a glasses just going for glasses of your choice will effect more on your eyes so well consult the doctor and take the glasses which he suggest. [vijayanandp]

I used to be very good in eye sight, but with aging, I have to wear glasses for reading and for typing in front of computer. People should take good care of their eyes by following good reading habbits. Do not overstress eyes either reading books or surfing online. Do not read under sunshine, or dim light. Take nutritious food like fish to help keep good sight. Check eye sight in professional lens stores and get glasses timely adjusted when needed. [zhuhuifen46]

I do wear eyeglasses because my vision is 375/350. That's how bad it is. If I do not wear eyeglasses I won't be able to read and my vision is very blurred. It is important that you choose an eyeglasses with frames that makes you look good. Lots of fashionable and simple designs are available. Choose something that will reflect your personality. If you are the trendy type, then choose a frame that are in fashion right now. [bubbletush]

Yes, I do wear glasses. I have been wearing glasses since I was about 10 or so. If the doctor tells you that you need glasses just try on a variety of styles. The people that work there will help you pick out a pair that looks good on you. Or you can do what I do and bring someone with you to help you find a good pair. I always bring my husband because I am so bad at making decisions.LOL [luvmysons]

In my young age when am studying 12th i had vision problem and wearing eye glasses everyday. After some days suddenly it came to normal so doctor suggested me to stop wearing glasses. After that i never wore eye glasses.I had oval shape glasses with gold frame and it was very beautiful one.I heard that eating raw carrots everyday in the morning and evening help you improve vision.Even now i am eating regularly.Do try... [mymytri]

i have worn glasses for distance since i was eleven years old. i still wear them everyday as i have to or else i cannot see well. my up close vision is pretty good still so i am grateful at least for that. i hate the way i look in glasses but over the years i have learned to buy smaller less obvious type glasses so you notice me and not my glasses. i would love to have that laser surgery but cannot afford it and even if i could i am not sure i would go through with it as i cannot stand anyone coming at my eyes. [mikeysmom]

Yes, I wear eyeglasses. I went to the Optometrist office to check my eye vision. He helps me to pick out a pair of glasses to wear and puts in the Lens for me. It's handy. Thanks. [chunijole]

I'm shortsighted for almost six years. But i don't like to wear glasses regardless of many people say it will hurt my vision sooner. You may try ,after all,you are the one who understand you best.Good luck [myskysky]

yes my friend . thank your message, i can't see clearly so i had to wearing eyeglass . take care our eyes [zhenghong]

I am wearing my eyeglasses since high school.I've tried also contact lens but i am more comfortable using my eyeglasses.I change my glasses every year and i notice that my vision increase yearly. [dong1970]

I have a pair of glasses, but I do not wear it usually,I wear it only in class. There is saying that if you wear glasses not very frequently, your vision will become better and better. In contrast, if you wear it all the time,it will be worse. You heav to change your glasses of a high degree. [lvyanyan]

If you made it into adulthood with no glasses that's better than I did. I had glasses since grade school. Now I go back and forth between glasses and contacts. Just try a bunch of different frames. Glasses can be a fashion accessory. [ersmommy1]

You should have a proper check up first and its better you start wearing glasses as soon as possible. As number goes on increasing if you have eye problem and you delay and avoid in wearing glasses. Don't you get head ache due to that as if you have number then your head aches badly daily. I do wear glasses and its very important to wear glasses if you have number while sitting on computer else it effects badly on your eyes. cool [parvezjs]

I've been wearing glasses for most of my life, so I'm pretty used to it. I occasionally get contacts, but glasses are a little easier for me as they require less work, lol! I do seem to recall being worried about getting teased for having glasses, but the truth is that most people don't even notice and everybody gets used to you having them pretty quickly. Sometimes when I wear contacts, my coworkers can't seem to figure out what's differant, lol! Your best bet is to see an optomologist, or eye doctor. They will check your vision in each eye and determine if you need glasses, if you are near or far sighted, if you have a stigmatisim, and so forth. They use this to determine your prescription for corrective lenses (eyeglasses), then all you have to do is pick out what type of frames you want and within a week or so (depending on the eye department, the type of frames, perscription strength, etc) the doctors will have your glasses all set and ready to pick up and start wearing. I hope this helps! [Awen_Eldorath]

Hi, learn2earn! Yes, I wear eyeglasses, I have been wearing them ever since I was 5 years old, I believe.. My vision is blurry when I try to see far away. And, it is kind of blurry up close too. But, I can make out things a little better closer than further. The best way to choose the right kind of eyeglasses is to choose one that has the perfect fit for your face. And one that looks good on you. Make sure that you are not allergic to certain materials. Metal can cause an allergic reaction. Pick a doctor that will give you a complete eye exam. And one that will give you an copy of your prescription if you ask them for it. You will have to be the judge of whar eye doctor will suit you. I think that Lens Crafter's and America's Best Contact And Eyeglasses are grea choices. Then they have many eye doctors that are good, but they may be a private eye doctor. It is up to you on whom you choose and what type of eyeglasses that you are looking for.happy [cream97]

I've been in distance correction since 7th grade and reading correction for the last 3 years you know, some people don't respond when people pick the best responses too quickly [ElicBxn]

I am sorry to hear that,I wear glasses, and I don't like wearing glasses,it is not comfortable in summer and in winter,I can't wear sun glasses in summer, and it is cold outside in winter, but it is warm inside,so when you come into the house, there is a layer of mist on the glasses,so I can't see clearly. I suggest u cherish your eyes!happy [kekexinfeng]

I wore eyeglasses when i was in highschool. It is very discommodious to wear eyeglasses!care your eyesight before it is too late.if you want to choose glasses just go to professional glasses shop. [Troy1987]

Friend i also used glass. My doctor suggest it and i sun glasses when i go outside because i fell better with sun glass in sunny day. [Shovon_b13]

I started to wear glasses when I was 10. When I turned 18, I wore contact lens. After wearing contact lens for over 12 years, I often wear glasses now, it is good for my eyes. Choose glasses in the color you liked. If a friend of yours can go with you, then it is much better your friend can give your opinion in person. Be aware of the size of the glasses, don't choose glasses too tight. Too tight will cause headache. [HelloMickey]

I was in the same boat as you when I was young. I didn't need glasses to read, but I couldn't see well enough to pass the vision test for a driver's license. They were right. I couldn't see a road sign well enough to read it until I was too close to make a turn when necessary. Wearing glasses when necessary seemed a small price to pay for safety. Being nearsighted when young does not always mean that you'll always have to wear glasses. As I aged, my eyes changed. My vision went the other way, and I didn't have to wear glasses at all for over 10 years. As to choosing the right glasses, were you asking about the right prescription or the right frame? [bellis716]
You need to see an optometrist to obtain a prescription for eye glasses. He or she will examine your eyes using special equipment. He will write a prescription for glasses, much as a medical doctor does when you are sick. He will direct you to the best place to get the prescription filled, where you will also select frames to fit your face. You may also want to ask the optometrist if you could get by with a pair of over-the-counter glasses. An honest doctor of optometry will let you know what is best for your condition. [bellis716]

i do for distance, but not all the time. if i drove i would legally have to wear them.but up close,it's fine. i would get glass lenses if you can.granted they're heavier, and a bit more expensive, but if you get plastic and they get scratched there's almost nothing they can do for it.glass you can have re-polished. [scarlet_woman]

Yes. I had eye laser surgery about 9 years ago but I now have astigmatism and need the glasses to drive etc. I'm hoping to have more lasek soon. [saffrondallas]

Luckily as of the moment my eyesight is clear so I really don't need an eyeglass. I think the most important thing for you to do is to refer it to the professional. Otherwise you might end up doubling your expenses or end up with more eye problems.happy [jpso138]

I am 54 and have had glasses since I was 9 years old. I tried contac lenses for a while, but stopped when I went to bifocals, since I couldn't do any of the bifocal lens and would have had to carry the glasses with me. Picking the glasses is always a chore, but the women at the examiner's office were always a help. When trying on the different frames, they were always very good at helping to decide what looked better on me. If not them, or if you wouldn't feel comfortable trusting them, take a close friend with you who you would trust to help "dress" you , and they can help you to choose the right style for you. [idowrite72]

Yes I used to wear glasses up till 26 yrs of age when I decided to make a laser eye operation. I used to wear contact lenses as well but I always wanted to get rid of the glasses. However there are modern eye glasses which are trendy and gives you a cool look. [ronaldinu]
Thanks and welcome back my friend!lolhappy [learn2earn]
