responses and comments:
It does not always speak the truth. It depends on the writers. Sometimes the data they gathered are not that reliable or if it's reliable, sometimes they are being misunderstood by the writers. But most of times, they speak the truth. I am hoping that the news and information that are being released by the meadia are reliable. We cannot deny the fact that there is bias. Anyway, that is normal for the media. [don_naces]
Well said my friend. You are right...but can you please elaborate on "they are misunderstood by the writers"...how can articles be misunderstood? Thanks for responding friend.happy [excellence7]
In my opinion not all news published in the newspapers speak entirely of the truth. Yes there maybe truth in some but there are some sensationalism or lies in others. Most news writers if not all have the habit of making a mountain out of a mole so we should not always believe every news in the newspapers. It is the news that keep these papers alive so they will dig every single opportunity to come up with news and too sad sometimes they are alreay publishing lies. [salonga]
I would ask this question differently. Do Newspapers EVER speak the truth? I think they are more truthful than television but that is not saying much. [drannhh]
I think it is not possible all the news paper have been always speaks truth. But news papers are trustful when compared to tv news channels. But all the news papers didn't speak truth. Happy to share your discussion. Happy myLotting. [adihindu]

Unfortunately, no. Being a medium, newspapers ARE SUPPOSED to always convey the truth. However, that's not the case. Some things are still kept from the public eye. Especially if that has anything to do with politics, the political system of a country, the government. Probably because some people, the "higher-ups" so to speak, don't want to expose their real selves and don't want to risk tarnishing the reputation they have established for themselves. Being powerful, they can control the newspapers if they deem it necessary to conceal the truth from the people. [crazyoverpurple]

I am not sure. now newspaper, news channel all have become much more entertainment basis. that day they was discussing something about poterntial job cut and it was going beyond limit. [subha12]
Potential job cut? What does this mean dear? Thanks for responding dearhappy [excellence7]
I hope or trust that the local newspaper do. Maybe some can have incomplete facts, but as long as they just report and present facts, and not go into conclusion themselves, there is nothing much there to hate. Personally, I don't like reading "Opinion" section of some local newspaper. I don't want to hear them rant and biases, because I don't know those writers. [JDy116]
You are right dearhappy Thanks for responding dear [excellence7]
I dont think so.Now a days,it is very difficult to get a correct news from the news paper. To get the correct news we have to read different news paper. The same news is interpreted in different ways in different papers. [sreejithsreenivas]
You have said little but exactly the way I think. I am very happy to mark you the best response because it is indeed true that we need to read different newspapers to get a better point of view. Thanks for responding dearhappy [excellence7]
Having had articles written about me by a newspaper and having had worked for one, normal newspapers tell the truth but can twist stories to make them more interesting, sort of making the real facts muddled. Now, those 'rag' papers, like the Enquirer, etc., do not as sometimes they will even make up stories if they have no story. Here is a little fact I learned when I was in Alaska in 2002. During the Gold Rush, there was this camp along the Yukon River, in Alaska, leading up to where many gold diggers were heading to places in Canada. This village, now known as Liar's Village, where newspaper men would wait for the miners to pass through, tell their stories, and then write a story. They would send these stories down to the paper they were writing for in the big cities. If no one came along and they were in need of a story, they would make on up. Of course, the papers did not know if it was true or not, but I guess the word got out and that is why the camp was known as Liar's Village. Of course, I can only speak for the newspaper I used to work for, that they only printed factual accounts. I could not say for other papers, but as my grandmother used to say, "Don't believe everything that you read." [nanajanet]
You are totally right dear....Your grandmother rightly said that we must never believe everything that we read. Thanks for sharing such a good response dear.happy [excellence7]
I think newspapers today have to tell the truth, because if they do not they will be taken to court for not telling the truth or making things up. I see a lot of celebraties today sueing newspapers for different things, so they must still do it. I think they do most of the time 'tell the truth' and I love reading all the news from around the world, I believe them to be true stories and I think it leads to a lot of chat through out the day. [hildas]
You are right but although all the cases in courts, many newspapers persist to write lies. Well people must become more strict against newspapers. [excellence7]
Do newspapers always speak the truth? Frankly I don't know. Also the answer to that question varies from country to country. At least in my country, the printed word in the newsprints is more trusting than in many other countries. I won't say that newspapers are out to purposely tell people lies, and not report any truths. But the nature of newspapers is such that they are usually a commercial entity, and they need their newspapers to sell in order to make money. So journalists and reporters are inclined to resort to sensationalism in order to achieve sales of their newspapers. Some are peppered with a large dose of gossip, raunchy articles and pictures. Also newpaper companies can suppress news, or tell readers half-truths and hide some news from their readers. Sometimes these acts can be politically motivated, or the companies may disclose some of the news in one paper, and the rest in another, in order to make people buy their different papers. In articles which express opinions, writers may give biased views of subjects to influence how people view certain topics and issues. Again, such tactics may be politically motivated because newspapers are powerful mediums that can influence the masses. Some news reported may also be incomplete or distorted, maybe not on purpose but because reporters may not have done a reliable job finding out the facts or not getting the right sources of information. This is made worse if the reports are based on hear-say only and not facts. Of course, there are also cases where lies are spread in the reporting, although I don't think it happens to any significant measure in my country's newspapers. So you see, most of what I've said about the way newspapers report may not be untruths, but the manner in which the news is reported may make people skeptical and wonder if newspapers actually report things truthfully. [lexus54]
You are right friend. I really like your views. I think the best solution to all these would be for the newspapers to speak the truth directly and after lots of research into a particular topic.happy Thanks for responding friend. [excellence7]
newspaper is a business . they just want to earn money . so they write in their own way what people like to read , which is half truth rest made by them self [inder86]
You are indeed right friend. Thanks for the response.happy [excellence7]
no it doesnt.. and i believe that there always time that infos there are sometimes less or more... there are times that news are exagerated [fajert]
Thanks for responding friendhappy [excellence7]
Newspapers like all forms of media can be manipulated in so many different ways. In fairness to those who are our friends in the media, they are just doing their job. The media always seeks truth in their work. Yet the truth sometimes elude them and are hidden behind a myriad of puzzles. There are known forces greater than the media world. These can use their power to manipulate information and yes sometimes the media is given the wrong information. As they gather their information the first one that comes out in the news isn't necessarily the final say. Sometimes we all find out in the end that the truth has been twisted and more often than not some things have never been solved fully. It's just like a detectives job. Series of clues and information doesn't necessarily point to the criminal. That is why in some cases the wrong person has been convicted. Cheers!! [wolveren]
Sorry for the repeat. But I made the error of replying to your 2nd question onto another response. So I'll just repost it here where it is more appropriate. Manipulation of truth has been goin on for hundreds of years. Even history has some sort of twisting. Not really telling the real deal. And to rebel against them is such a huge task, that I know if we are not strong and willing to work together you can kiss that rebellion goodbye. It is only possible if we can achieve that bond and set aside our differences globally. Tsk tsk. Just think how impossible that can be at present. We are all divided by creed, language, culture and government. In a single country alone like the good ol' US of A, there are many religions, for sure that takes some time to gather them as one for a revolution. What we all need is a true leader, one that doesn't use religion, language and culture or even politics to get us all together against all the barriers that are ahead of us. happy Actually what lies ahead is bigger than everyone really think it is. Cheers! [wolveren]
I do not think newspapers always speak truth. Sometimes it is intentional with some motive behind and sometimes due to the lack of true information from reporters or failure to analyze correctly by the writters. If newspapers speak always truth then all the nwes paper will write exactly same thing, ther will not be differences in opinions. [mokbul]
Yes but sometimes they manipulate truth for the sake of increasing sales but on the other hand, convicting innocents and tarnishing their reputations. Don't you think this is unfair?glare [excellence7]
This would depend on your definition of "truth". Any given set of facts can offer up opposing truths, it just depends on how those facts are presented. Truth is only an objective point of view; it is not an absolute. [myklj999]
No, its not true. Newspapers are not always right. They always have their own opinion mixed with the news. And give it a new face. Sometimes they are true. But most of the times they exaggerate the news. [parulg]
Thanks for the response friend.happy [excellence7]
Well writers are also humans, and humans commits mistakes. So there is still this small percentage that newspapers sometimes doesn't speak the truth. This is sometimes possible. Really depends on the writers. Its best to read articles from a writer with high reputation in terms of speaking the truth. In my own point of view, it must be noted that when discussing some public matters there must be neutrality or balance. There should be no bias with regards to news. [ideamanx6]
Truth must be spoken whatever the situation is friend. Because lies can be harmful to everyone. Thanks for providing your views.happy [excellence7]
In my opinion,no...Most of the time, they speak the truth. But if some writers find something that the govenment don't want people know, they would take action to prevent the dissemination of the news. They hide the truth, just let us know something which does not matter. [061234217]
You are right dear. Thanks for the response.happy [excellence7]
I think most of them are biased.. like say for example the new york Yankees vs. the Toronto blue jays, the Toronto newspapers would likely side by the Toronto team and in new york they would go for the Yankees so they can connect with the people. [lion47]
Thanks for responding friend.happy [excellence7]
Most of the time they do.But sometimes to increase their sales they just exaggerate things. But you will find it as a reliable source of knowledge. [pinkfloyd007]
Thanks for the response friend. [excellence7]
Whether to tell the truth to twist a truth, I think the newspaper would choose the one which would bring them the most benefit. Of course there's some exceptions. Most of them, even they tell the truth, they would exaggerate the situation. Small case can be a hugh case in their depiction. Even this, I read news every day. [iamfine]
Well said friend. Thanks for responding.happy [excellence7]
the news don,t always tell the truth they don,t always have the information right so they have to print a retrackion.sometimes they give out to much information on the crimal making it hard for them to be caught.the news people don,t alway think when delieverying the news. [annjilena]
Thanks for responding friend.happy [excellence7]
I think not all of the Newspapers always speak the truth . For some certen reason [jieyanchen]
Thanks for respondinglol [excellence7]
honestly speaking, many newspapers teling some information that are not true, pure speculations, they tend to write anything to sell out their papers. :( how sad for the readers. [fgaloma]
Well said friend. Thanks for respondinghappy [excellence7]
Always, there are not the truth on newspapers,it's just an opinion of writers. They get the informations from someone or some place, and pass a opinion for those news, you can't equally opinion as truth.sometimes, the writer who work for politician write some article to cover up the truth. [armada8213]
Yes, this is known as 'manipulated truths'. Thanks for responding.happy [excellence7]
No I don't think so.Most of the news are biased or lack in details or the worse is feeding us with false details. [balasri]
Thanks for respondinghappy. [excellence7]

hi mylotters! in my opinion no media speaks truth whether it's television, radio or newspaper.i think 1/4th of the news is fake in newspapers but it's ok everybody lies so no issues. [figjam00]
u r ryt that most are fake, but its an issue friend. it becomes an issue for those who dont lie.. [excellence7]
I work in the newspaper industry and can say that newspapers don't always speak the truth. Often stories are biased and offer only one side, this in itself offers some untruth. This is a great discussion. Thanks for posting. [tammytwo]
Well said friend. Thanks for the genuine response. [excellence7]
We would be extremely lucky if we actaully received the news as it actually happened anywhere in the world. Newspapers often have notices served advising what they can and cant report, same with news on TV. Most media firms are owned by those with the most cash and therefore again are swayed to report as these people deem. If the news will affect their finances etc detrimentally then we will not see it either. I think that all the news agencies around the world are owned by around 5 media companies all with the government advising do's and don'ts. Interstingly being at the scene of something and seeing it for yourself, then watching the news or reading the report, you will see how much it differs from what you saw............ [dragonstar1]
One of the things that gets me most is that the important or interesting info is often lost on a sea of celebrity, which by no means at all is news! [dragonstar1]
