Don't you just hate when you are almost at the end of the book and your eyes keep closing .I often read late at night and will be so into the book that I hate to put it down and I get sleepy but I want to read just a few more pages and it really bugs me when I'm almost at the end and I can't keeps my eyes open.I will read it and the next day have to read the end again because I was so sleepy that i couldn't remember what I read.
Anybody else have this problem?

It happens to me all the time. But, I have a health problem that sometimes makes it difficult to read for a long time. My brain wants to shut itself down sometimes. [desertdarlene]
I fall asleep every time I start to read the book at night. And its very hard to read, because you wake up for a second again and try to read but then fall asleep again etc etc etc.. [kissthesys]
That's the reason why I rarely read at night anymore....I can't read more than 3-4 pages. I love to read early in the morning, when I wake up on weekends! [songbirdnaimh]
I sometimes read in the am also but I usually have to deal with my pain and get under contral so it's too hard to sit then. Thanks for posting. Raydene [raydene]
I do hate it. However, something I hate even more is falling asleep and having my book close...grrr..drives me crazy trying to find the spot I was at again ! There are just not enough hours in the day for reading, writing, and everything else I want to do...So many books, so little time. [cyclonewriter]
That happens to me sometimes and I'll wonder where it was or how much I really read. But then, sometimes the problem I have is that I'll be reading a book for school, and drop it down the wrong side of the bed! My bed is really really heavy, and there is no way to get it back without moving the bed. [Pigglies]
Ohhhhhhh, yeaaaahhhhhhh, lol. [jbrowsin66]
Yes, I agree, but I don't have much problem about it. What I hate the most is that if I'm reading a novel, I can keep my eyes open. On the other hand, if I am studying, I just can't keep my eyes open. I always feel sleepy. I wish some school books are made like novels so that it will be very interesting. [langGa18]
Funny how that happens. Try to take subjects you are interested in whenever you can. [raydene]
Oh I hate to fall asleep reading or to be so sleepy that I have to go to sleep before I can finish the book! And I have fallen asleep with a book in my hands and had creases in my fingers from the book! [Melizzy]
Yes,I've done that and had my hand fall asleep from it.Thanks for posting [raydene]
I have the exact same problem. I'll be so sleepy that I'll only remember parts of what I've read. It makes it so hard to figure out where to reread from. I'll usually find a spot, then realize I need to still go back a few pages because of everything that I'd missed. [cjthedog64]
I know what you mean.I sometimes have to read a whole chapter over to catch up.Thanks for posting. [raydene]
What I hate most is getting all involved in a TV show & falling asleep on the last 10-15 minutes of it so I never know the outcome. Either that, or I wake up as they're rolling the credits. Bummer! Blessings, JoannH [JoannH]
I know what you mean.I do that and it bothers me until the next night when I do it again and I have a new tv show ending to worry about.LOL I do this too often [raydene]
I actually kind of like it. Some nights I have trouble sleeping,a nd it's nice to not have to think about falling asleep, but rather just doing it. [cutepenguin]
That's another way to look at it.Thanks [raydene]
I love to read when i`am in bed late at night, it helps to relax and to fall asleep, however sometimes when your are close to the end, and your eyes are getting heavier, itīs an awful sensation dont being able to stay awake. [kogiro]
Thanks for posting [raydene]
I hate when that happens too. Your eyes are drooping and your saying just a few more. I also do that with my sudku puzzles. I got to finish this one before I go to sleep. I wake up in the morning with the book underneath me. Then I have to get a starting point again in the puzzle. [linda345]
That's a good way to ruin a good book isn't it.It tend to crumple the pages. Thanks for posting [raydene]
It's a quite normal phenomenon at all.Because you need to have a rest and excessive reading will lead to low efficiency and waste time.Perhaps seven adds one beyond eight at times. All the best and good health! [mike13531]
Thanks for posting [raydene]
Well, it happens to me most of the time. But i dont really hate it when it happens. But, its ok when this happens because your body also needs some rest and if it chooses to sleep than do some reading then there is no problem with it. [cyclops_online2004]
I read every night in bed just for this reason! It helps me fall asleep. It's only frustrating because I only read a few pages before I start dozing off, so it takes me forever to finish a book!! I usually remember what I read. As soon as my eyes start to flicker, I put the book down and go to sleep. I don't try to fight it to keep reading, or I will forget what I have read. [cassidy22]
whenever I can't fall asleep I pick up a book. It only takes a few minutes and my eyes begin to droop and my head bobs. I put the book down and drift off to sleep. Like you, in the morning I can't remember what I've read. Must be a common problem [my3angels]
It happens to me, but i dont mind because i know i can catch it up, i just hate when im watching tv, a movie and i fall asleep, coz in this situation the only why to catch up the movie is by going to block buster, something i dont like to do.... [milagre]
Well yes this is a very common occurence that is there with everybody almost. I would suggest you that rather thinking of it as a problem, take it a bit positively that you atleast get a good sound sleep doing that, there are people who struggle to sleep at nights due to their own health shortcomings and crave for this most of the night. And, moreover when you do get the occurence of this overpowering sleep, just do that as it is more benefitial to your overhealth too, it is a well known fact that you do always sleep when you feel like, not just for the sake of it, so i feel nothing wrong in it. [nitin23]
yeah.. i really hate that.. honestly, i did that last night. lol. i was supposed to read my reviewer for my final exams then i fell asleep! when the exams came awhile ago.. i didn't know what to do!! i did cramming! lol [Mishi_Bente_Tres]
My problem is that I can't get to sleep - when I read a good book it makes it harder to sleep so I usually end up staying up all night to finish the book! [mummymo]
Yes sometimes I will keep waking myself up so I can read just alittle more. Thanks [raydene]
this happens with me also i am also a victim of this when i open the books and start reading i just can`t do that i feel asleep i also hate this [ten_tons35]
It's not a problem for me...actually, it's how I fall asleep! The light emitted by a computer monitor or the TV inhibits melatonin production, necessary to fall asleep. So I have to re-read some pages--makes the story last that much longer for me! [scorpiobabes]
Thanks for giving another view. R [raydene]
Sometime yes, I love reading and have not really fallen asleep while reading cause I get too caught up and dont realise the time, of course after I finish reading I really feel sleepy and crash immediately. I have the ability to read a book a day, and I am talking about best sellers [afreddy]
It usually takes me a couple of days R [raydene]
i totally feel the same way and yeah, i guess our eyes just grow so tired. so even if our imaginations are out there, we just have to give in and rest. [diannebcrs]
I do hate it when that happens. More often, though, I don't have any trouble staying awake to read something I'm really interested in. Take last night, for instance - I was so close to the end of a very good book, and although it was 3 a.m. by the time I put it down, I finished it. Knowing that my daughter would be awake in four and a half hours. *sigh* But it was so worth it. :) [ragmama]
Oh yes I remember when mine were little and were up at the crack of dawn R [raydene]
reading while sleeping is my bigest problem at the university during prep time i tend to concetrate in to my book but try as i may, i just doze all the way till its time up and i would like to believe we are not alone.this is a big problem ithink we should give sleep plenty of time in order to settle in books after. [rpebad]
actually, if i can't sleep i read so i could get sleepy. so if i ended up sleeping while reading, it's a total success for me! =) [mssawyer]
I'm so much lke that these past few months. I just gave birth 4 months ago and the lack of sleep makes me sleepy all the time. No matter how much I try to stay awake I still fall asleep. It's irritating because I can't finish just one book when I still have a couple of books more that I want to read as well. [michele_villasenor]
Ohhhhhhh to have a sweet little one to snuggle to.I have grankids now but I don't see them in the middle of the night sleeping or in the morning with that sleepy smile.I miss those days.Enjoy them R [raydene]
Reading makes me sleepy so I know what you mean. Sometimes are worse than others. One time I had a particular book that I was starting to read just before I went to sleep every night. I kept reading a couple of sentences and then crashing. I finally had to catch up on my sleep and start reading earlier in the night. I finally got through the first chapter or two and it was smooth sailing after that. [cayennepepper]
When I started reading Diana Gabaldon's books the first of the series was boring until I got through the first couple of chapters but my friends had all said to stick with it because it was a great book and I was glad I did. Know what you mean R [raydene]
even i have also faced this situvation where i feel sleepy when i read books and goes alseep when i reach the end of the book. a better solution for this is not to lie down on the bed and read. sit and read. start reading a bit earlier so that you can complete reading the book [nehacherian]
Because of illness I can't sit for long periods of time. Thanjks R [raydene]
hmm i didnt experience that yet.. but i really get sleepy hate it when my eyes just shuts down.. lol and when i wake up i like im completely lost. [webbuff]
Of course, this is just one of my most hateful things that actually happen to me. Especially at night when I just love to read newspaper and magazines, I tend to get sleepy so before I know it, I just drop my magazine because I really doze off accidentally. Even during my praying time at night when I say the Holy Rosary, it is so unfortunate that I sleep in the middle of it all. [ernst111]
God will not hold it against you I'm sure [raydene]
I have another problem. I usually read the words very fast, but I often don't understand the meaning, because I'm thinking about something else. I read some pages many times, but can't concentrate on the topic the book is about. [littlekitty]
I only do that if it's something I am not too interested in R [raydene]
i always fall asleep when i am studying. ill have a big test or something the next day and im really tired and tell myself to stay awake, and i cant stay awake. i wake up really late that night or the next morning and ill be screwed for that test. this always happens to me. [tinam13]
I used to do that when I took classes. R [raydene]
I have the bad habit of reading right through the night and then being wiped out the following day. I know what you mean though, sometimes you just have to finish the book. [drakan291]
Oh yes Been there done that R [raydene]
I do that all the time!! I usuallt read in bed afrer I get the kids in bed and I just love reading so it is hard to put a book down just to sleep =) My husband usually comes home from work to find me asleep and my book on the bed somewhere!! [Michele21]
I did that when the kids were little too R [raydene]
hai their, i love reading novels i start reading with an great swing and when i fall a sleep as i dpnt keep well and take heavy dosages of pills and the next morning wake up and see means dont remember the whole story so again have to start form the start to read it....... [suraj5747]
Pills I hope you are not ill R [raydene]
i dont really read books. But i do hate it when i fall asleep while watching a good movie.Im a night person.I like to sit and relax after the kids are in bed and watch movies.By like midnight i will find a good movie and then id fall asleep. [desimanero]
they keep you busy I bet? That's why you need that sleep R [raydene]
no yaar i don't hate it it only gives me an exuse to sleep [justin_frndlake]
If I'm tired, I just give up and stop reading. I'll read it again later after a nap or what not so I don't have to go back over it again later. [highflyingxangel]
That's probably the smart thing R [raydene]
NO actualyy its opposite in my life i read to fall asleep as its make me get a lovely sleep whn iam alone and its hard to sleep...why do u hate that infact dont hate anything,,,,and if u want to just hate,,,,,,,the hatered. [mywords18]
i never fallen asleep with a book... lolz [Gabrielle1609]
Oh yes I hate that too but I also read just to fall asleep anyway. I have troubles to fall asleep sometimes and reeding helps a lot to fall asleep. I read romantics books than becaurse they don't interest me that much. Exiting books I keep for during the day or the weekends so I can read them without faling a sleep or being woried that I have to wake up early the next morning. [Raissa1967]
I know what you mean Thanks Rayden [raydene]
LOL.. It happens to me all the time. My other half likes to bug me because if I go upstairs to lay down and read while he's finishing up on the computer, 9 times out of 10 by the time he gets up there, I'm fast asleep still holding the book. He'll take the book out of my hands (and usually lose my page while he's doing that) and put it on the nighttable for me. [imsilver]
What a sweetie you have [raydene]
I often fall asleep reading. I won't even be tired, I'll just start reading and I'll be full of energy. Then, I'll keep reading and after awhile I start getting a headache. If I'm in any kind of position where I could fall asleep, I might end up falling asleep. Otherwise, I'll just keep reading and end up with a headache. I've never really read something that I just couldn't put down, but usually this will happen when I'm forced to read something for school. [Pigglies]
I only read what I want to now and it is great. Thanks [raydene]
Yes, this has happened to me many times. The book is so good, and I just cannot quit reading, even though I am tired. But, the body always wins out. [margieanneart]
tahnks for sharing R [raydene]
i also had that experience before, i was reading this book and i fall asleep. when i woke up, i need to read again the previous chapter to refresh my memory... [marky14]
Thank you for posting R [raydene]
Hello raydene...I actually entertained the thought of reading then falling asleep. At times, when my body is tired from the day's work, but my brain will still be functioning. Reading is one thing that really helps me to sleep. :) [charms88]
Thanks for posting R [raydene]
I hate fall asleep reading due to i think that it's low efficiency, which in actual fact is only a waste of time, and you would be better to go to sleep and get up early the next day to read. But as a matter of fact,i extremely admire your hardworking and diligence.Don't you gain a lot!All the best! [mike13531]
oh yes...i used to do that a lot...now i have a worse problem...i often fall asleep while chatting online with my girlfriend...its so frustrating really...but im up all day and sleep very little so that wew can be together most of the day so when night comes im usually too tired and keep nodding off on the laptop...and this happened in some important occasions too causing me not few problems *sighs* [valyushah]
Oh yea, it happens with me all the time. But sometimes, I try to fight it and later I overcome my sleepiness and continue reading. It just happens for a few minutes, but later you become fresh again and start wondering, if you were really feeling sleepy. But there have been other times when I've been really sleepy while reading and would be wondering where I stopped reading the next day, and would realise, I've been reading 10 or 15 pages back. Haha..! [cobradene]
I've been doing that lately. I've been reading the Harry Potter books for the first time through and I feel like not stopping, but then my eyes get tired and I drop off to sleep. When I wake up, my hands are still on the book. Its a very weird experience R! Love always, Wiiguy [Wiiguy]
Do what I do next time that happens R. Leave the book open and put it nearby you before going to sleep. That's what I do and it works. That or just leave a bookmark! [Wiiguy]
this happens to me alot too. i have to agree that i really hate doing that too. especially if it is a great book and i want to see how it ends, but alas, i start getting tired and start getting a headache and then i know its time to quit. [cher913]
Oh that is totally one of my pet peeves!! I will look forward all day to getting to read my book at night, and then 3 pages into it, I am falling asleep. NOT because the book isn't good, but because I am just too tired to read. And I completely hate it LOL [Lillith]
I never experienced falling asleep while reading. I just fell asleep when I am in my favorite position in my bed, but I never experienced falling asleep while sitting on the bus, reading or watching tv. I dont know how others could do taht, but I never experienced doing that. And once I am reading a good book, I never experienced feelingh sleepy without finishing what I am reading. [lucky_witch]
