Good choice. I still enjoy watching Cinderella even though I am married with 5 children and 2.5 grand kids. It's a story that will never lose its charm. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I love fairy tales! my favorite was and still is ...Thumbelina. [sid556]
I had 2 favorites Kitten. Beauty and the Beast and, Sleeping Beauty. I think it was Sleeping Beauty. The one where she slept on 100 mattress's and felt the pea that was under all of them. [Goodie123]
That's how long it has been since I read fairytales. I was trying to picture in my mind who was who. You are right it was The princess and the pea.lol [Goodie123]
I like lots of fairy tales. Some like Cinderella just aren't the same when I learned the original Grimm's fairy tale version. I guess my favorite would be Jack and the Beansta. When I grew up I had the Mickey and the Beanstalk by Disney. [Ruthep]
I agree, sometimes the original can seem harsh compared to the children's version we grow up with. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I would have to say that The Little Mermaid was my favorite fairy tale when I was growing up. That is partially because I loved the Disney movie of The Little Mermaid, but it is also because of the less-popular non-Disney version that is a more tragic version of the story and tells the actual fairy tale rather than the sappy, happy-ending, Disney version. The other version was so tragic and sad that it really stayed with me. [phoenix25]
I would have to say repunzel was my favorite. I love that fairy tale. LOL!!!! As I have grown I know have many fairytales that I enjoy. I would suggest you see or rent the musical Into the Woods it's great it puts all the fairy tales together and it's really funny. take care and have a nice one. [bellaofchaos]
My favorite fairy Tale is Cinderella. [PRIYANK1992]
its kinda weird for a guy sayin this but wht the heck..lol...my fav was cinderella..lol..hehehe...ok ok the laughs n ll and come..ok ...but whtever u say...it was a mazing story ...reallyyyyyyy good...heart touchin !! and i used 2 hate her step sister.. used 2 get like real angry lol [cyberkunal]
Good for you my friend, nothing wrong with a guy loving Cinderella. The tale shows how good can win over evil and that's what we believe as children. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
Hello Kitten, My favorite was Cinderella. I think every girl that grows up in less then perfect circumstances dreams of marrying a rich handsom prince! Huggs, Tianna [Tianna2]
I was crazy about fairy tales when I was growing up and I read all fairy tales from different countries that I could find. This is how I discovered that people are people wherever they may be from because there are very many similarities in fairy tales from different countries. [underdogtoo]
I don't remember the name of it, but my favorite was about a king who had 3 daughters and asked each how much they loved him. The youngest said she loved him more than salt and he was insulted and exiled her. Then salt disappeared from the kingdom and his food was so bland he wished for salt. Somehow, a salt mill began making sea salt that covered everything until he brought his daughter back with a new appreciation for her. Or the one about the princess who worked in a kitchen and had beautiful dresses, 3 of them, each in a walnut. Of course, they all ended up "happily ever after". [dragon54u]
You can send me a message with the link in it if you want to. Private messages are okay for that I think. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I don't think I had a favorite fairy tale but I always loved the little golden book called "The Pokey Little Puppy." [muscles4me]
Yeah, I loved that too. "now what in the world is that poky little puppy doing" was always the question. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I always liked Rapunzel, with her long, flowing hair out the window. I was scared to death of Liitle Red Riding Hood with that mean witch in it! [awonderfullife]
i really like the stories of cinderella..the rag to riches thing you know...and i still know some friends who are like that i mean she got married to a rich man.. [vanities]
I don't really remember what my favorite fairy tale was....BUT knowing me, I'm sure there were dreams of a princess in it somewhere. happy That said, I'm guessing it was probably Cinderella just waiting for the white knight to come along. [katiedoubleu]
For me it was Snow White and The Seven dwarves because it is the earliest film that I can ever remember my mum taking me to see, the cinema is still there some 30 years later! I loved that fairy tale and I remember having the book and wearing it out through reading it so much! I loved those dwarves and I used to sing hi ho, hi ho, hi ho it's off to work we go! Fond memories indeed. I can remember standing in the queue with my mum, I can't remember how old I was but I kept talking about it for ages afterwards. I think I was sleepy LOL! Either that or Dopey! Amazing isn't it at that age you always think there is a happy ever after. How quick the illusion is shattered when you grow up! [wolfie34]
I remember seeing a stage production of that show. I must have been quite young at the time because my mother passed on when I was 11 years old. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
Well, I must be a lot older than you because that show doesn't go back that far, when I was a child. I don't think I have ever had a favourite fairy tale. I like Beauty and the Beast, and a lot of the other ones but I am not crazy about those kinds of kids movies. When I was a kid we didn't have a TV since my parents had 8 of us and couldn't afford one. But we did get our first TV when I was about 12 years old and it was actually a color TV, not a black and white, which was pretty new then. [chrislotz]
Morning Kitten! I still love Thumbelina and play it and sing it to my grandaughter alot..she loves Beauty and The Beast like you! She's 2 1/2 whats your excuse..LOL [Rosekitty]
Sorry, don't have one LOL HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I had a lot of favorite fairy tales. I liked cinderella A LOT and sleeping beauty too...I also liked the story of Hansel and Gretal for some reason, though I can't really day why! [vera5d]
Hi, kitten1954! Oh you have touched on a subject close to my heart. A lot of my childhood memories are tied to fairytales; I love them still today. I suppose if I had to pick just one I would good with "The Little Red Hen"; she was the ultimate single mom, I mean truly awesome! What a chick in the true sense of the word. I still draw inspiration from that story. Thanks for taking me back to a very good place in my life. Chio! [roberten]
The message of the "Little Red Hen" is still poignant today. Mother hen was an inspiration to us all, she stood her ground when everyone else ignored her but in the end she and her chicks had the last laugh. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I guess You would say I as a Robin Hood fan. Not sure if this was fairy tale or not but I would say robbing the rich to give to the poor was exciting to me. As was slaying dragons to save the damsel in distress. [knucklehead123]
Hello my friend kitten1954 Ji, Long ago, mu grand-mother used to tell me till we went to sleep. It started with, 'There was a king and had seven queens, and a princess.....' Now exactly I do not remember. have a nice time. [chintoo07]
Where is that tale from, I don't think I have ever heard of it. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I love fairytales, kitten. In fact, as I am a writer, I play a lot with their different meanings. I specially like Little Red Riding Hood. For me, the little girlīs wish to gather flowers and step away from the known path symbolizes what every generation does: step away from their fathers tranks to make their own roads to future taking risks ( the wolf). Beauty and the Beast shows what is really important behind superficial beauty. Take care [atacamaval]
As a writer you get to look a little deeper into the stories and have a different look at what the writer was trying to say. Little Red Riding Hood shows us that good can win out over evil HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
Little red riding hood Thats the best of all times [mogant]
Mine was always Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and also Cinderella. I remember being just a little girl and having the story books. I loved them. [OreoCookie3]
Shrek is my all time favorite. I don't think I had a favorite when I was younger. I was into boy things more than girl things so I don't remember things like fairy tales or Barbie that much. I remember cowboy and Indians and fast cars lol. [travibabiesgirl]
Shrek is a wonderful story. The message that the writer was giving was about accepting people no matter who or what they are. we are all different, all unique in our own way and we should be accepting of others as equals HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
hi kitten my favorite fairy tale growing up was Snow White and the Seven dwarfs. I used to beg my mom to read that to me over' and over and then I got so I could readit to myself. I learned to read before I ever went to s chool and was always at least two or three grades ahead in reading, and finally skipped the sixth grade entirely. [Hatley]
Cinderalla is one of my all time favorites. Althouhg the plot of the story is kind of sexist in a way, I kind of like the idea of a rags to riches in the story. Not that i am counting on prince charming to sweep me off my feet and make me an instant millionaire! LOL [alindahaw]
Interesting you should make that comment my friend. Several years ago I took a class on Women's place in this world, can't recall the name of it but it was a really good class. We looked at women's roles and how they have changed through the years. The story of Cinderella was a typical example of how women believed that they needed a man to fulfill them as women and that women were created to look after the home and have children while it is the man's role to provide for the family. How one eyed could that theory and belief be? What would the world be like if Florence Nightingale hadn't stood her ground and bought hygiene into the practice of nursing. Joan of Arc would never have led the French to victory and Madame Currie would never had made the advances in science that she did. Thank God for women who had the pioneering spirit and continued in their beliefs against unsurmountable opposition. Where would we be today if these women had stayed 'barefoot and pregnant' instead of making intrusions into what was known as 'a man's world? HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
My favorite Fairy Tale was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I did think she should have gotten help doing all the housework. And I did think that stepmother queen witch was evil and so dumb. Imagine her thinking that she was beautiful. She would have cracked the mirror. [suspenseful]
Was "Three Little Pigs" A Fairytale?haha... I like it much hehe. i also like cinderella [myahw20]
My all time favorite is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.I have a record of it and I saw the movie. [sarahruthbeth22]
I am sorry to hear about your Mum. But at least you have some fond memories. [sarahruthbeth22]
Two of my favorites have always been Rapunzel and Rumplestiltskin (you'd think my favorite letter was "r"). The story of Rumplestiltskin always tickled me. The little troll guy was ridiculous and I always thought that the girl was silly too. I've read so many different versions of the story over the years, but I've always reveled in it's absurdity. Rapunzel was always sad to me and I liked to fancy myself as put-upon as she was when I was a teen. I guess I identified with the angst. [daffodilpixi]
yes the troll was an interesting fellow wasn't he. Just as well someone saw him dancing round the fire singing "Today I boil, tomorrow I bake. The next day the queen's child I'll take. She'll never ever guess the guessing game, Rumplestiltskin is my name" (I think that's what he said, it's been a long time since I read that story) HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
Mine was Snow White. The story was so compelleing in chilhood. The way she was abandoned to herself in the wilds by the hunter to flee from the hatred of her step mother drew me to tears in those days. I was wondering what I would do if ever I'm abandoned by myself in the wilds. Today, Snow White is still my favourtie fairy tale. [Ashbiz]
Snow White has been a very popular response. I guess it was because of the way she overcame evil and won out in the end. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
im really fun of reading lots of fairy tales,i enjoy everything,i don't really have nothing favorite in particular, sometimes fairy tales come true if you will only believe in it with your heart desire. [maquisa]
I like Beauty And The Beast, because instead of te typical prince saves the princess, it's about seeing the beauty within, and not full of superficial stereotype that lead to opression. [danishcanadian]
Beauty and the Beast id one of my favorites for this reason. Why do we always need to look for outer beauty when the heart of the soul is what makes a person real. I also like Shrek too because of the moral values the writer is getting across. We should all take a page from that book and get to know people before passing any form of judgment on them because they might be the very person who will stand by us in an emergency. If we pre-judge people before we get to truly know them then we may easily lose our best ally . HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
Hi There, I always loved fairy tales growing up. There are so many good ones it is very difficult to choose. I think Snow White would be one of the top ones for me. However, a close second would have to be Jack and the Beanstalk. Both of them always seemed to scare me a little! cheers, [golfproo]
Hi kitten1954! Yes, I do like Beauty and the Beast too. However, my favorite is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I remember that I have a collection of seven dwarfs before and I refused to have a Snow White in my collection because at that time I led myself to believe that I am Snow White. haha..I like Rapunzel, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty too. Take care and God bless! [faith210]
Good day... I always wanted to hear the fairytale of huckleberry Finn and some of the Jules Verne Sci-Fi novel. [blackmantra_x]
Jules Verne wrote "Round the World in Eighty Days" didn't he. I remember the first time I read that and his valet/manservant had a funny sounding name. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
My favourite fairy tale til date is still, Little mermaid.. lol ^_^ Is it too girlish for me?? haha.. BUt i just like the marine life as well as the whole storyline.. It's so sadz but touching too.. hehe [kun2349]
I think it's cool that you liked "The Little Mermaid", It's not a favorite of mine but I do like the marine life too. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
When i was young, i like white snow very much. [zhuxia]
Cinderella of course lol. I remember when I was in the third grade, I checked the book out everytime we went to the library. I would sit on my bed and just look at her, she was so beautiful with her blond hair and pretty gown. By the time the school year was over they probably had to replace the book lol. [SusanLee]
Yes she was beautiful wasn't she, so was Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Snow White. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
I like Beauty and the Beast as well. I've read and seen a whole bunch of different versions and have enjoyed most of them. When I was growing up though, my favorite was The Wizard of Oz and I mean the movie. I still love it. The message of how important home and family/friends are and how Dorothy longed to get back home really shaped my life. I've always thought of home as the ultimate safe place, sanctuary, the best place to be. Now it hasn't always worked out that way for me but I've always thought that's what it should be. [horsesrule]
I liked The Wizard of Oz too. The Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Munchkins and the Wizard were all interesting and even the Wicked Witch of the West who was sly and dangerous. I loved the messages that the story was giving about there being hidden talents in each of us, we just have to find them. HUGZ from Kitten1954 [kitten1954]
