Hey everyone..happy
If I start reading any book, I will just sit in that for the whole day. I can read any books in the maximum period of 5 days. At the same time I read that with interest. Will read each and every line. How about you???
Some people will like to read books slowly. Which category reader are you?? If you are a slow reader how long will you take to finish a book???happy

I am actually a very fast reader. I even took a course on speed reading so that helped me improve even more. If I start a book I usually finish it within a few hours if I have the time. Stuff I enjoy reading I slow down and take my time but for stuff I have to read I manage to get through very quickly without missing the important stuff. happy [mscott]
I am usually a fast reader. I complete a book of Harry Potters size in one day. I just cannot wait to finish a book once I get startedhappy [pkraj111]
hi vidhya!! well to say! i am totally not a book worm!! i usually don read books!! as you know the text books of our college are so big that you have got to read it some how!!! there is no other go!! other than that i don even touch books!!! i my view.. we usually take some time to read the books only if we are not interested in that subject!! otherwise we would read it fast!! [magna86]
I pride myself on my being a fast reader. I usually finish my books in just one sitting because I get so deeply involved in the book that I can't get my mind off it untill I finish it completely. Once, While waiting for my train at station, I started to read a novel and I just did not know when the tratin arrived and left. I had to cancell my trip altogether. By they way which all books have you read? Have you read sydney sheldon or science fiction books? [cybersoft01]
I am a fast reader. I could finish a book for 3 days. Like Harry Potter books. I read books that I am interested with. If I am not very much interested with it, it takes me weeks even months. So it really depends on the book. [trishasantos]
I am a fast reader. No actually I am more of a browser than a reader. I can finish a Grisham novel in 2 to 3 hours. but don't ask me to retell it to you I can't. LOL [pehpot]
i don't believe in wasting time so i read fast but if i need to memorize some thing i go through it over and over again. To tell you the truth i have never finished reading even a single book in my life.i don't know why i just leave it in the middle. [shav9292]
It seems everyone here is fast reader, but I'm definately an exception.Of course, all I read is English novels nowadays, most of which classics.I'm very keen on them, sometimes, they are so amazing that once get started,I just can not put them down,so in the process of reading,I just don't want to miss anything, you know. It's a good feeling, and once finished the reading,I can not help being kind of proud of myself, hehe. And how long it takes to finish a book I think it just depends on what kind of book you read. For me,if I read an English novel in a short cut edition, then I will certainly finish it within a day or just a few hours. But if I'm to read an original edition like Gone with the wind over 1000 pages, then I will need many many days to finish,I'm afraid. But I believe no matter how fast or how slow you read, the most important thing is you are interested in what you read and you will both learn and enjoy certain things during this process. [dannie0821]
I am very slow reader.Usually I choose one hour or less than that to reading in a day.If i had no mood to read then I skip reading .So the completion of book depends on my mood and no. of pages. [hbmavuri]
another fast reader here. i read especially fast if the book is very exciting but when i reach a good part, sometimes i take the time to read it slowly. if i like the book enough, i can finish it in a day, staying up till the wee hours of the morning. [shadowlurker]
i am a fast reader..usually i dont prefer reading books..but when i do read them..i do them really fast.. [venuschd]
I'm a slow reader. Always have been. I like to read, just read pretty slow. My daughter though is a very fast reader. I'm glad that my issue didn't rub off on her. [stacysmomstl]
Hi everyone, I am a slow slow reader. Even here on MyLot, I hate posting on discussions that have three or more pages of discussions because it take me so long to read them and I don't want to repeat others responses. But, I love reading mystery and suspense novels like those of James Patterson, Dan Brown, Sue Grafton and Steven King. I even love the romance novels of Mary Higgins Clark and Danielle Steele and the funny hijinks of Jannette Evanovich. And I have read hundreds of them, but, some of these have taken weeks and even months to read. Besides being slow, I can't read for long periods of time without getting distracted even when the book is very interesting. wink [Browisn]
I read a novel in a couple of days. Once I start a book it's hard to put it down. I wish I was a slow reader but I get absorbed in any book I pick up!!!!!! I want to kick myself once I'm done because I don't want it to end. [flowerpower5]
I love to read and I am a fast reader for the most part. I can finish a book, a large book within a week. I had the time to sit all day and read I would finish within a day however with 5 kids and a house to run I never get that pleasure. [Ithink]
I think I am a slow reader because I always start out reading and theres usually something scurring around in my mind that Im thinking about, well it takes at least an hour for that to quiet down where I can really focus on my book, I dont mind this quieting period because its like winding down. After thats done I speed up in my reading and its full speed still I don't like reading a book in one sitting and I think three weeks is a good time for a book but I usually read things simultaneously and that includes a book, some magazines and skimming the newspaper. [revellanotvanella]
I don't exactly what is my category. Now I rarely read a book again, because everytime I start read the book my eye will quickly get tired. so I become hate reading a book, then i choosing to play a game. Previously, I like to read book, My favourite book is harry potter, I read from the first book to the sixth book. I read it averagely finish in 3 days and spend 4 hours per day. [winzpc]
I am a fast reader. There are times when I don't get to read too much in a day but I am able to make up for it the next day or the next day where I have some free time. If I didn't have to do so many things I would probably be able to finish a book in two days. But it depends on the lenght of the book too. I do read every line when I am reading because I want to get the most out of it and I want to understand the book. [ayumitakashi]
I think that it depends on what type of book it is and how much I know about a specific theme in the book as to whether I will read fast or slow. If it is a book on a topic I am familiar with or a slang or culture that I am familiar with I can get done with it in two days if I so wished. If it is a book that I am not familiar with or with wording that I am not familiar with it will take me more then two days but as for the proximate about I am unsure. [SomeCowgirl]
If I find a book I like, I won't put it down and can finish it in 2-3 days usually, depending on length. However some of the books I was required to read for fast that I wasn't too interested in... those would take forever. Weeks and weeks. So it really depends on the book for me. I wonder if there is any software out there online where you can test how fast you read online. That would be very cool! [TheHawkBat]
In the summer I am always reading by the pool . If I love the book I am a fast reader and can have the book done in a couple days . In the winter I read much slower and at nightes before sleep and will take one week or 2 to read a book . sometimes , if i dont like the book i will speed read it . [metschica25]
I am fast reader. I can read a thick novel for at least half day. College books are longer than usual. If i want read carefully, I will do it slower and learn more. Otherwise, I like to read fast because i want grab information fast. TV closed caption helped me to read faster. [rshartist]
I'm a fast reader. I just read really fast by default. I try and slow down if I'm reading a book or something that I really like but otherwise I tend to read pretty fast. I usually remember what I read too so I don't worry about reading really fast either. [highflyingxangel]
When I am enjoying a book I don't want it to be over too soon. I don't have time to read for more than a few hours in a day, and I have never read a book in a single sitting. I prefer to read one in three to seven days - or more (some of the books I read are 600 to 800 pages long). I want to get to the end to see how it all turns out, but I like having time to get to know the characters, think about the plot, enjoy the use of language and appreciate the skill and craft that went into producing the novel. An author may spend several years researching and writing a book. I don't think it would be fair to skip through it in a few hours, when I can take time to think about it, as well as reading it [paid2write]
the number of days it will take me to read will really depend on the kind of book am reading and the purpose for reading,if its for academics i am slow but if its just a novel it will depend on how interesting it is and how engaging and the number of pages but i read more relaxed, when it comes to the bible i read in suc a way to grasp every meaing of each words [BYOLA2871]
I'm quite a fast reader. I can finish most books in a day, sometimes two if I have spent part of my reading time for the day finishing up another book and have started late on a book. The only book I have read so far that I couldn't finish in a day has been Lord of The Rings. [iakulchen]
the same to you! almost two days. [crazy101]
I think I'm a fast reader if the books in my native languange, I could read about 250 pages for a day and still taking care my 2 kids. But if I read in English, maximum per day is about 75 pages, cause I don't just sit there and read books all day long. I really enjoyed novel, especially Dan Brown and I'm a curious person so I want to know the end of the story as fast as I can. [HiLia2008]
I started reading when I was three, and thanks to my mom and grandmother I developed almost an insatiable love of reading. I'll sit down with a book and read it in a couple of hours if I am not busy with something else. I don't read as much as I used to, but when we did reading comprehension in school, I was always finished with the reading the fastest. And I remembered what I read for the tests we took afterwards. I credit the love of reading to my family which they passed on to me. [AmbiePam]
I think I am in between. If I have to read something because I really need to know what is inside and it is important to me, I would go a bit slower to make sure I catch every word. Otherwise if it is just something I read for entertainment, I will go fast and try to catch every word nevertheless if the plot is exciting. If it is boring, I would still go fast but that is more like skimming over the words. rasp [lordwarwizard]
it depends on what im reading but if its a nicholas sparks book i read it pretty fast because i can put it down.... [headbanger21]
In elementary school, I was always a grade or two above my other classmates. I can read fast, but when i'm frustrated, of course it will take me extra time because I have too much on my mind. [trashMONSTER]
I'm a fast reader. I have no idea how I came to be one, though. I never really thought about it until someone mentioned it to me. They asked if I had taken a speed-reading course...I haven't. I just naturally read fast. Years ago, I went through a period of about 6 months where I had insomnia. I just could not sleep! Having insomnia will drive you crazy if you don't find something to do besides sleep. I read more books during that period. I don't remember all of them, but I do remember reading "Trinity" by Leon Uris. It was almost 800 pages and I read it in one night. I remember that the sun was just beginning to come up when I finished it. lol [CherylsPearls]
Fast reader, a simple trip of 8 hours by plane could see me completing 2 books...I am a speed reader...I do read every line of the story cause it is the only way I enjoy reading, but nevertheles I read fast [gtdonna]
I am a fast reader, I sometime wish I wasn't, I go through too many books. I learned to speed read in school and have not be able to do away with all those things I learned. Some times when i really want to learn something new I reread the same book several times, I don't do that with fiction, all I have to do is read the first sentence and I remember the whole story. I don't remember titles or Authors. I think that's a little strange don't you. [savypat]
i am a fast reader! i remember once i want to reread the harry potter series, from 1-3 i read it one per day, and i read 4 in 2 days. and i'm proud to say that i can comprehend very well with what i am reading. [karakiks]
if i like the book...i finish it in some days. but if i don't like it...i take several days...or weeks... sometimes i take the book back to the library without reading it :D [puicuno]
i would put myself in a fast reader group too. i can read books quite fast as well. if nothing disturbs me or if i am able to read to my heart's content, i usually finish a book within 3 -5 days maximum too. i am similar to you in that i read with interest and read each line. sometimes i feel as if i'm just skimming the lines but i notice that i read all the lines. [sminut13]
I'm a fast reader. If I start a book and really enjoy it I can finish it in a couple of days. I have been know to start and finish a book in a day. When I was on vacation at the beach I starting reading a book that was at the beach house and got very interested in it. I took it down to the beach with me that morning and read the whole time while down on the beach. Then I read more after we had went back and had our showers and all. Then I finished it before we went to bed that night. I love reading and have been reading since I was 4 years old. [sweetgirl_k1]
I read pretty fast. It takes me about an hour to finish a book. [Bd200789]
I am one of the fast reader so that is also one reason that I could also type fast if it is really needed and when finishing a book is much more different in me because i only do it when I do not have something to do.. [iyah10]
I read a bit fast now compared before. But I still feel the need to improve it. I've been reading several things nowadays about a topic to improve myself in that field. I want to read faster and finish many books as possible. [nengs10]
I'm not that fond of reading books. Since small i never developed the habit which i regret today. If i sit long hrs reading a book i start getting a headache and start dozing off to sleep sooner or later. My reading speed is moderate neither sow nor too fast. If i start a Novel (Not a big one though) it would take me at least a month at what rate i read lolzzz... I like reading Fiction and Thrillers. I just can't tolerate literature at all. When i start reading a book on literature after the first page the book is closed Hehe.. [razor123]
I'm a slow reader, I like to read, I read all the time, but it still takes me awhile to read a whole book. It may take me a couple weeks, maybe longer to read a book, because I pick it up and read it, then I put it down for a day or two, then I pick it up again later. I have a friend that can read a book in two days, I've seen her do it, I couldn't believe it. [walijo2008]
I read quite quickly. I really enjoy it and I tend to go through 3-4 books a week or more if i'm on holidays. I live Science fiction and fantasy books. [saundyl]
This is solely dependent on the book. If it's a good book then I can read it quite fast and have a hard time putting it down. Sometimes, I even end up staying up too late at night because I'm so into a book. Now, if I'm having a hard time getting into a book, it can take me forever to read it... if I ever finish. It's difficult to read as much as I would like to sometimes though. My husband believes that if you are reading, you should be learning something so reading should not be fiction. One of these days maybe I'll find something for him to read that he will enjoy without having to learn something with it. [michelyn]
i am a fast reader, cause my work demands. actually i teach reding course and i must train my students fast reading with skills like skimming and scanning. [gabbana]
Well, I already was a very fast reader, but nowadays I'm a very slow one. I explain: I can only read in total and absolute silence. Then, I usually sleep before going to sleep. When I was younger, I was forced to go bed earlier, even if I didn't feel sleepy. It was the rule. Because of that, I had much energy (and time) to read. Nowadays, I go to bed when I want to, and it usually is when it's kinda late and I'm pretty tired. Then, there's no energy to read.. ^^" [falassion]
Hi there! I love reading books so much since I was a child, even in the dark. =) That's not advisable. I'm a fast reader. If I find any reading material interesting, I really read up to the last page. If I don't have that enough time, I just bring the book so that if I have the free time, I'll just grab the book from my bag and read it. [angiemabute]
I read a lot although I used to read a lot more before I became a member with mylot. I used to read all of the time and very seldom watched TV. But now I sit at the computer when I have some spare time, instead of reading, and just read discussions here in mylot. But I still read before I go to sleep. It is the only thing that helps me to fall asleep at night. I have to get my mind off of the daily stresses and the only way I know to do that is to read. It takes me about a week to read a book now, but it used to take me only two or three days before, to read a book. I will still read before I go to sleep but I won't be reading when I can be here reading and posting and making some money. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good day, Chris [chrislotz]
I would say I'm a fast reader. I could usually finished a regular novel with say 300-400 pages in a matter of 2-3 hours if I do it non-stop, meaning in one sitting. Since I usually read during my free time like lunch hour or at night, I would usually finished 2-3 books per week. Also, when I read I rarely skipped pages. I read the entire book. Sometimes I get excited and want to know what happen next, that I would scan the book. However, I would still go back and finished reading the book. [wayz12]
For me it depends on if there is something more interesting than reading books. If yes it could take for ages for me to read the book. In the other hand if I got nothing other to do I can read it within 1-2 weeks. But lately I read no books because I spend all my free time here on myLot. I guess this is not very good but I think sooner or later I will return to books again. [dieorfly]
I also love to read. I don't finish my books as quickly as I used to now, because of the Internet and television. I usually read in bed for about an hour before going to sleep, and more on weekends. [SkippingStones]
With almost 15 years of education spent the just a reading and writing, I can call myself a speed reader for sure. Because the speed at which I finish my complete syllabus just the day before my exam is no match to any other person! Ha ha! Jokes apart I'm a vivid reader and enjoy reading fiction and magazines a lot. So a book of say about 600 to 800 pages takes me a week at most. [zeethegr8]
