When I was a kid I did lose my glasses, and I have also broken glasses, just recently in fact. I don't prefer glasses to contacts it actually varies while I prefer contacts if I am going to be spending time out of doors, and at times because it is just easier, they don't get dirty and smudged the way glasses do, and being so light sensitive that I need to use a variety of levels of sun glasses, very dark to very light, to protect my eyes and still be able to see, I would spend a fortune on prescription sunglasses to get the level of shading I may need during the course of the day. On the other hand, I use my glasses for distance, so if I am wearing glasses and then decide to say read a book it is much easier to just take the glasses off than it is to take the contacts out. So at times contacts are better, at other times glasses are better. I have lost contact lenses and have such odd vision that so long as I have the left one in, I can still see quite well in fact well enough to drive, But if I lose my glasses or lose the right lens to the glassses I am not going to go around wearing glassed with just one lens, and if they are lost, I do not have the partial vision I have when I wear contacts and lose only one. [nowment]
Oh well... that has also happened to me some times. The first time I lost my glasses (found them again though) was when I was around 10 years old. Oh! I got really sad, because the glasses was new... and I lost them at my school, at the autumn under some large trees in piles of leaves... By the way, I prefer lenses, just out of vanity! And it's also fun being able to change the colour of ones eyes now and then... [JBorgL]
Hi maniapearl. Yes, once I lost one of my contact lenses and felt like a pirate till got a new one lol. have a nice sunday [teka44]
I have lost my contacts plenty of times. I agree they are heard to see they are to small. I have never lost my glassed but I have broke them before on accident [Shaun72]
I am so very dependent upon my glasses for vision that I actually sleep in them. As such, it is rare that I lose or misplace them. It has happened on occasion, however, that during my sleep I have taken them off and set on the stand - or think I am setting them on the stand they fall to the floor... in that case I need to have someone help me to locate them as I can not see to find them.... I try to find them by running my hand across the carpet, but that does not always work... being afraid I will step on the glasses and break them I scream for help before I get up. [Modestah]
I haven't lost my glasses. I have however broken them. It was embarrassing. We had a band concert at school. We had uniforms we had to wear. After the concert, I was in the bathroom changing into my regular clothes. While doing this, my glasses fell off my face. Instead of picking them up right away, I left them on the floor and finished getting ready. I finish changing and step to leave and I hear "CRAAACKKK". I had stepped on my glasses and broken the lenses. I then pick them up and go into the band room holding them. My friends are hanging out and I go over there and I hold my glasses out and am like "I broke my glasses" and they all laughed. They thought it was pretty hillarious. Some were still making fun of it a year later. [kel1483]
I wear daily replaceable contact lenses these days. If one falls out I can get another one out of my hand bag. I do need a mirror to look in so I can get it into my eye. I also require clean hands to do this. In the days I had glasses I had a normal pair and some prescription sunglasses. In Australia I was in the sea wearing the sunglasses and a wave went over my head. Someone grabbed my sunglasses but one of the lenses had fallen out. I found the sun too bright to go around in my normal glasses. I went for an appointment at an optician and got my prescription sunglasses fixed. [maximax8]
haha, my glasses usually suffer horrible fates under my care. - one was chewed to bits by my dog - I have stepped on, rolled over and sat on numerous glasses - once while i was on this boat trip, I dived with my glasses on (great way to lose your glasses!) - contact lenses usually just go suddenly missing sigh, I hate this condition but your dicussion about it eas fun. thanks! :) [anaknitatay]
I wear glasses, and i found out the contact lens could go to the back of your eyeball, and i dont wantthat. ive lost my glasses lots of times, mainly in my house, i forget where i put them and they are moved then i find themonly to lose them again. sillyglasses. they are pretty though [TrinaD72]
Yes I have lost my glasses a couple of times when I really needed them. Once I was on an airplane, and I feel asleep. I put them somewhere, either on the seat next to me or in front of me. Somehow they fell of the seat (I suppose) while I was sleeping and I never did find them. I can't much without them, including my mother waiting for me as I was getting off the plane. I had to call her from the flight to tell her we were going to have to go to lenscrafters immediately upon leaving the airport, or my trip would be pretty much ruined. I also last them once several months ago right before I had to go to work. I actualy drove to work without them, which was truly one of the stupidest things I've ever done. [dfn12968]
I've had a number of pairs break on me. Worst was whilst I was driving, especially as I didn't have a spare pair with me, as I wasn't in my own car. [egdcltd]
hi manya yep I broke my glasses once at work and had toask to go home and dig out an old pair. The rest of the day was really hard as I worked in a library and had to read shelves a lot and those old glasses just about did not cut it. I was so glad to get new glasses .lol. [Hatley]
When my dog was a little puppy, he decided to have a go at my glasses, he won, the glasses lost. it was near impossible to get an appointment so quickly, but lucky for me that I did. It was towards the end of the day so I couldn't get all the extra things I like on my glasses because then it wouldn't have been done. One time I had those contacts that you can leave in for up to 30 days, I still toook them out in the morning, made my eyes so dry, but one time, when I took them out, one of them was missing a piece! Never got contacts again. [thelastwolf113]
Hello my friend manya_pearl Ji, Like you, I have never lost, but broken 1000 times as saying. But i forget at least 10 times in a day, where i had left them, then my grand old lady will help me. You use disatnce , as it is missing from your face. Have a nice time. [chintoo07]
I do occasionally lose my glasses - but only near my bed (which is kind of a sty!). I tend to read, watch T.V. and relax in general on my bed. Sometimes I'll take my glasses off and put them "right over here" while I take a little snooze. "Right over here" ends up changing mysteriously! 'Course, if, when I move around, everything on the bed shifts (blanket, pillows, book, cell phone, fan, alarm clock, and the various wires and cords that go with each) I guess that's bound to happen once in awhile! Otherwise, I haven't lost my specs since late high school at around which time the glasses went from being my "driving, chalkboard, T.V" necessity to being a permanent fixture upon my face. And, I rather like them, anyway. I prefer my look with them to my look without. And contacts?? Ha! Picture a guy walking backwards away from his own advancing pointer finger! ;) [stanwshura]
I used to wear contact lenses for around three or four years but I decided to stop wearing it when I got eye irritation that I almost got blind. I guess it was due to the cleanser that I bought. Now I'm just wearing glasses. [dorisday1971]
I have once worn contact lenses, but I don't know, whatever I did, the lenses hurt my eyes. And my doctor said it is not suitable for me. I gave up the contact leanses, and wear glasses for more than 10 years. During my glasses years, I haven't lost any glasses, just broken them like you. But the other reason to change a new ones is my eyesight becomes poorer and poorer. So, I can not give up glasses now, but I do hope I won't change it any more. [sissi320]
My glasses are so attached to my face that it's hard to lose them. I've had my glasses broken a couple of times by either me or one of my siblings though. It's usually because one of us accidently steps on it or sits on it. [saizo6]
I've never lost glasses that I haven't found, usually one of my kids misplace them in my house, and when that is the case it just takes finding them, I have, however broken many pairs of glasses or had my kids, specifically my oldest daughter, so for me to have a pair of glasses that lasts a year is a miracle for me, otherwise I usually look at about 6 months before they start getting to the point of being fragile. Mooch [oneandonemakesix]
I have lost and broken my glasses. I lost them to the Ocean :( the waves where strong and they drifted away I even had found them but a wave knocked me off my glasses cause I found them with my foot and could never find them again. My other pair I was in the mosh pit area ot ozzfest front row and they got smashed to death because they where in my pocket ugh. never again has that one happend.. [teufelskind]
When my children were little my daughter found my glasses sitting on a shelf and apparently this little 3 year old thought they were garbage. She threw them away. Before we realized what she had done we took the garbage out and they had already taken it by the time we realized. We only knew that she had done this because my 4 year old saw her and told me later. [sisterjinx]
i dont wear yet any eyeglasses yet...im 46 ..but my husband does..and he often lost it...maybe forgotten where he put it or whatever...im not comfortable with eyeglasses how much more with contact lenses..happy [vanities]
I have lost my glasses in the sea once... was in the sea with glasses. Knowing that water can sweep them away I tight them well with my kerchief. Suddenly a giant wave came and knocked me down...when I got up my glasses were gone. I tried searching for the glasses inside the water, but they were gone. Came back poorer as I had to get a new pair of glasses. [headhunter525]
yes i do actually... i lose one nice one that my parents bought for me when i want to go to australia... i feel so sad... it is a very nice and expensive glasses and i lose it when i go to the beach with my friends because i misplaced it... i also broke many before... i never wear contact lenses before as i never like it... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]
when i was about 18 i was alway losing my glasses and then find them and losing them again,or breaking them by drop them,or put somewhere and forget it there and put something on them. i never wore contact lenses, but i know if i did end losing them, but i said i manage not to lost the glasses i got now for a year touch wood. [welshdai]
i have worn glasses for 37 years and i have never lost a pair. that is because they are usually on my face and the only time i take them off is at night when i go to bed. i put them right on the nightstand and when i get up i put them right back on again. [mikeysmom]
When I was in elementary school I lost my glasses one night when I was on a hay ride with the kids from my church. When we got back to the home where the hay ride started everyone helped me try to find them but we were not successful. It was awful!!! When I went to school the Monday after that my teacher had to sit me in the front so that I could see the board until I was able to get my glasses replaced. Needless to say after that I was always careful with my glasses and still am until this date!!! [SheliaLee]
ya ...once i thrown my glasses...bcoz i got angry n not able 2 control so i thrown my glasses n it brokes into pieces...n once i sat down in my glasses...but i never lost my contact lense..i was very careful 4 my lense..but now i am very careful 4 lense n glasses too... [sweety10]
me too i just broke them and never lost them [eeelnagm]
I consider myself to be very blessed with this one. At times, it feels like I've worn glasses for just about ever. But in all the time I've worn them, I've neither lost or broken any. I can only imagine how frustrated you were when you broke your glasses those two times! I never like the thought of breaking or losing something that costly that I'll need to go out and replace! Personally, I've never gotten up the courage to try contacts. I'm very touchy about things being around my eyes, so I don't know if I'd be able to put contacts in or if I'd be too flinchy. blink [mamakat]
I lost two and i broke two also. The worst incident was when I had a vehicular accident and a screw of my glasses punctured the right lateral side of my eyes. No open wounds but blood formed in the part of my eyes. Since then I decided not to use rimless glasses. [chrysz]
I have not physically lost any pair. So far, my track record has been breaking my glasses during ball games, either the ball hit me and the specs dropped or when the ball hits the glasses directly. There was once I broke it when sleeping with my glasses on. [whyaskq]
When I was a kid I lost or broke my glasses on a regular basis. I hated them. Until I finally got eye surgery so I would no longer need them (Had to wait for someone to come up with a surgery) But now that I am older and have to wear them to read I have about 6 pairs sitting in all the places I am likely to need them to read. [sageivyberyl]
I lost one pair in high school, I had another pair break. I gave my last pair, that I had a change of prescription to one of those charities that find someone else who can use them. They were pretty ugly. [ElicBxn]
Not really lose it actually. :P But I often forgot where I did put the glasses because without glasses my eyes are just poor in recognizing things. And I would seek for the glasses around the whole place. LOL. I know how you feel, I ever sat on my glasses too because I just forgot that the glasses were there. LOL. [bongkarpasang]
Well, I haven't lost any contact lens ever since. I was just so careless that when I put it on its case, the lid closes to it and it was ripped! I was so dumb, as I remember. There were times that I drop them and fortunately, I found them. I both have lenses and glasses. I'm more careless about my glasses. I don't even bother if I sit on them. They're pretty strong and I have them for around 2 years already. That's the metal one. I bought another pair of glasses which was made in plastic and it's pretty durable though you can't adjust it's compatibility with your nose bridge. LOL Good luck manya_pearl with your future mylotting. :] [cr0ssf41r13]
I lose my contact all the time have never lost any glasses that I can remember [Cajunhellcat]
I am always loosing my glasses or breaking them. I guess that is why I buy my glasses at the dollar store or at the drug store. I don't want to spend a whole bunch of money on glasses and then end up breaking them or loosing them. [cortney09]
I don't hav contact lenses,so i will not lose them.I have two glasses, one is deeper than another.I have own them for a long time.but it is a pity that i lost one one month ago.I am so disappiont.I even don't know where to lost it.I only wear it when i at dorm.i search everywhere i could find. [moondan]
I never lost my glasses, and never have contact lens before. I just broke my glasses once before, when playing with friend(which I still 14 years old). [ycpgoldberg]
Boy, have I ever gone through a lot of glasses and contact lenses in my time. I have been wearing glasses since I was 10 years old and I am now 51 years old, so for over 40 years. I have broken way too many to actually put a number to them, and I have ripped more contact lenses than I can say, over the years. Most of the time that I have broken my glasses, has usually been because I fall asleep with them on and end up breaking the arms off. I have broken many a pair by playing some sport and got them knocked off or just broken right on my face. I had worn contact lenses for about 25 years and I have ripped more than I can say. I have bought a new pair and within a week I have ripped one of them and had to have it replaced. I have always bought insurance on my contacts but they don't offer insurance on glasses, I wish they did. In my 40 years I have probably spent 10 to 15 thousand dollars, maybe more, for glasses and contacts and solution for my contacts. So now I am hoping to get laser surgery on my eyes very soon. I am just waiting for my appointment for the specialist to see if I qualify for it. I sure hope so because I can't wait for the day that I don't have to wear glasses anymore. I don't wear contacts anymore because I can't, they give me a bad reation, flem in my eyes, since I wore them for way too many years, according to my eye doctor. My appointment is in September to see if I quailify and if I do they said it would only take a couple weeks before they can do them. So hopefully by the end of September I will see again and not with glasses on. I have sever back and neck problems now because I have to wear progressive glasses, like bifocals on can't see the line, and have to have my head tilted back to see the computer, so I can't stay on mylot too long, at a time.
