I was looking for a new topic for discussion and was
struck by a similar discussion on reading habits
'and so I just wondered if I am the only nutcase who
reads in the bathroom while on the throne so to speak.
How many of you are guilty of reading a magazine or
a book you just cannot put down while doing your
'business in your bathroom?

Lol I don't but my Mum used to My Son used to as well but the thing was he was ages because even though he finished he forgot where he was and carried on reading till we starting shouting because we where bursting lol He would come out with a big smile on his face and say sorry the Article about cars was very interesting and I forgot I was on the Toilet [gabs8513]
Hi gabs my best friends son does that too, and sometimes'she gets his pals on the phone, and has to tell them he is on the throne and will come out in a minute..so his pals all know he 'gets into something in a magazine and forgets where he is.lol. [Hatley]

No, I do not read while "doing my business" although I did used too, any excuse to pick a book up back then. Now I just do not have the time to get too comfy! [gemini_rose]
I sort of got out of the habit for a long time while I was workiing at the library as I had no extra time to fool 'around or I would be late to work. [Hatley]
I read all the time while im in the bathroom. Hell when I was a teenager and would go to the library all the time, I kept my books in the bathroom that I hadnt read yet lol. [darkjedi]

I do not, nor have I ever read in the bathroom. My husband, however does all the time. Matter of fact you would think he couldnt go if there was nothing to read. Amazing [melissaruth1]
its funny but you either do or you dont, now myhusband used to get ticked off at me for reading in there but once I caught him doing the same thing, and did I ever tease him about it. [Hatley]

I read in the bathroom. I have a few magazines in there right now, and I sometimes even have a book in there. My 17 month old daughter even grabs a magazine every time she plops her tiny little booty on the toilet. I guess she learned that from me.rasp [lilybug]

Actually, I often bring a magazine in the bathroom when doing my "business". It keeps me occupied. And without noticing it, the business is done. I don't think it's a weird thing Hatley, haha, one of my aunt even has a stock of old magazines in her bathroom for her to read while doing the business. [ucancallmedissy]

I have to admit I do read in the bathroom, as it is boring if I don't. My son also reads in the bathroom, my daughter however did not pick this up from me. [irishmist]

i don't read there, i'm just don't like it being there for too long of a period. :p When i'm totally hooked to a book, it happens always that i wait till the last minute, run to the toilet and get as fast back as i can... i'm a professional runner at that moment ;) , really worth olympic gold. Oh I'm so guilty of that. And when I'm done doing my business in the toilet I just stay there for a while reading. I do it all the time. It's rare if I don't take a book with me to read in the "throne". ^_^ [ayumitakashi]

NO! Your not the only one that reads in the bathroom. I have a fill in puzzle book, magazines, and a book in the bathroom for those moments that I have to be in there for a while. That is all that they are there for. So when I'm there I'm not sitting looking at the wall while taking my time. [twallace]
I can't say that I've never read in the bathroom while taking care of business. But I can say it has been a very long time since I've done that. I'm always so busy, that I go in take care of business and go about doing what I was doing before I had to stop to take care of business. [terri0824]

Gosh I have read in the bathroom all my life. It is not just because I can not put the book down. Reading helps one relax . And of course you know that helps the machinery work better . [bigpinkmomma]
I do some of my best reading in there. I even have a magazine rack. It's filled with joke books...might as well have a laugh while you can. There are a couple of computer mags too and an Australian Geographic...it's the current one and I'm about half way through it. They come out quarterly so there's plenty of time. [MsTickle]

I used to do this before I had children, and I found it quite a luxurious, relaxing thing to do!! My mum used to always get so annoyed with me for staying in the bathroom so long because I was reading my book, lol! But now, sadly, my daughter's always wanting me to do things with her and it's just a luxury to be able to go to the toilet lol. [liquorice]

I only read magazine, whenever if am in the bathroom, you know what, i mean, the all time favorites of all time "playboy". The bathroom is a good place for reading this kind of magazine, come to think of it, what woould others would think of you if someone sees you reading a playboy magazine in crowded or public places? man, such a pervert!!!.. hehehe ;) [jules1977]

No! That is really one of my pet hates. And I know I'm probably in the minority because I've read some of your other responses and its a very common habit, but I never do it. I have loads of friends that say they do it, in fact one of my friends has a bookcase in his bathroom! I know I'll probably sound like a nutcase now, but years ago I read an article about bacteria found on library books because people had probably been reading them in the bathroom and I've never used the library since lol! I'm not a clean-freak or anything like that, it's just that particular thing that I'm squeamish about. [Stiletto]
