How Many Books Do You Read In A Month Or In A Year

I loved reading as a kid; my Mom would have to check on me at night to make sure I went to sleep instead of reading with a flashlight. But now, I seems like I never read at all. I am either working or feel that starting a book would be too much of a "time commitment" and then I turn around and waste time surfing the net or watching TV. Do you still read as much as you used to?

I go through probably four books a month ... I love to read and read everywhere I go. [lizlibelle]
i cant imagine if u read 4 books a month, what kind of book that u read actually? [yakabe]

It all depends on mnay things, but usually I read about 2 books a month, sometimes more, sometimes less, so in average I'd say I read around 18 to 20 books a year. Of course there are times when I read a lot more because I have a lot more time. Reading for me is essential and I am always reading... but sometimes I don't have the time to read as much as I would want. [berlinlife]

I try to read at least 5 decent long books a year. Although i don't often finish them because i have better things to do. I love reading but only when i'm 100% well and 100% calm which is hard when your wife wants you every five minutes! joking a side, i should read more. I surf the net way more than i do reading books and it's the same for tv. ~Joey [joey_matthews]

Not including things read for school, I probably read about 5 or 6 books a year. I know, not much, but it always seems like when I start reading a book, my free time for it seems to disappear. I wish I had more time to read though because I love doing it. It's a great hobby and it's also a great way to learn about things you might not learn about in a classroom. [alantae]

I have always loved reading, I normally read things on the net more than an actual book. I keep a book on my nightstand and read each night before drifting off to sleep. It takes me about a month or more to finish a book, depending on the size and how tired I am. I usually fall asleep after about half an hour or so of reading. To me it is the perfect ending to my day. I used to finish a book a weekm (or less) when I was a youth. Now with the responsibilites of being an adult, I just don't have the time. [saigonwarrior]

I usually read about 3 books a month. I try and finish one every week, but I am a magazine junkie, so I read a lot more of those than I do books, which is kind of a shame. There are so many great books out there that I started to keep a notebook with a list of all the books I want to read. Needless to say, the notebook is quite full. I think that people should try and read more. I do watch too much TV and then end up thinking there are better ways to spend my time. [AnythngArt]

When I was working on the road I read every day at some point and always read on while traveling from club to club on sundays so I read ALOT...these days though I go in spurts...some days I'll sit and read for hours and I try to read every night before bed but then days will go by and I wont read any books at all or I'll only get in 5 mins or so...I'm workin on changing that though..I also seem to read WAY more in the summer/warm months than I do in the cold months for some strange reason (seems backwards doesnt it) [Ravenladyj]

I used to read a lot, between 5-10 books in a month. I sort of burnt myself out while I was in college, and it's been cut down to about three-four books in a month now. I was the same way as a kid, always up with the flashlight, or reading by my nightlight behind closed doors. I am a cha-cha guide, so I read while I'm waiting for searches. [jennybeans]
That's a good use of your time, to read while waiting. I carry a book in my bag for such occassions, even though it takes me forever to get through a book that way. [theproperator]

I try to read as much as I used to. It's just that I don't have the books I want to read here. I used to read three or four books in a week if they are large. Sometimes I could get two books done in one day if I tried. I just couldn't put them down at all. [k1tten]

In a month about 4-10 books and in a year about 100 books. [zenmachado]

i dont read that much i only read when i need to learn something and study something, also when the book is interesting [mastergkage]

i like to read but only if found a great book, i read da vinci code, devil n angel, eragon, eldest, etc [yakabe]

i do not keep any specific number of books to read.Which ever book is good and I get hands on i read. [sripriya]

I have the same problem with you.Every time when I sit in front of the computer,it is hard for me to read books then.Though I realize it is not good to surf net too often and I have a lot of things to do,a lot of books to read,it is really difficult for me to get away.I always hope that I can have a healthy way to live and can get down to some professional books through the winter vocation.I made schedule for myself every day,but it is hard to complete.Do you have a good way to get out of this problem? [peggypeng]

I LOVE to read! I try to keep a book in the bag I use the most incase I get a chance to peak at it. I did this when I worked too. It was thee best idea! I started reading when I was 4 years old. During the summer when my friends wanted to play they were upset at times cause sometimes I just wanted to READ AND READ! Thats why I love to write! I know they go HAND in HAND! I try to read and complete a book every few weeks or more than one book. Some books I draw out reading them only when I can which could take forever. Others I inhale quickly and fast as I can! Since school been harder to get into my books as much but I am TRYING to do it all. I love memoirs cause I am learning about all kinds since I am working on one. I read a few fiction and some other types of non-fiction. Writing books too! Sometimes teen books. I am ready Eragon but not always reading it since I got it before I saw the movie. Its a good good book but a bit thick :)) yes and I worked for a bookstore for 4 years and trying to get hired at one again. I used to spend half my checks or more on books *L* ;) [monkeywriter]

i dont have any books at home and the fact that im working theres no time of doing that stuff either. but i wanted to read some magazines and newspapers when i have time, the fact that newspapers and magazines has a little amount of page compare to books let me read it from cover to cover. [benedict1023]

I loved reading as a kid too. But I have slowed down a bit now. Between work, hubby, and kids I don't have the time for it like I used too. I think I have gotten a little pickier then when I was a kid. I stick mainly to the authors I enjoy and the subject matter that I like. I used to read anything I could get my hands on. [gypsylady28]

When I was still single, I used to read 1 book a week. But now that I'm married and have 2 kids, reading is a luxury. Books is no longer in my list, good books are always expensive, I have to prioritize my family's need. But given time and money, I would go back to reading. [jsae29]

that depends on the size, quality, content of the book. But i really like to read a lot and some times its 3-4 books a month. [subha12]

yes, i still read as much as I used [kamadi]

About five or six in the summer. [rogue13xmen13]

I've read a lot more books now than i ever did when i was younger. I have a bit more time on my hands, being a SAHM, and because my son and I like going to the library, i now have a chance to read a lot more books during my spare time. I also joined a online book club but that got too expensive so I decided to stick with the library. The next time you have "time to yourself" drop by a library and check out the "new fiction" section - you won't be dissapointed. [maddysmommy]
Yeah, libraries are great. I did the online club once, too, but I prefer being able to read part of the book before getting it (especially if I have to pay for it!). I am more likely to take a chance on a book from the library since it is free, if I don't like it, I haven't lost anything. [theproperator]

Holy cow me too! I used to get caught in my closet at night with the light on reading away! sometimes I would even stage that I had left for school and then go back and hide until everyone left. then I would read all day and go outside before mu parents got home and pretend I was coming home from school! Oh ok I read about 5 a month not great I know but, I read about 60 a year! So thats better I guess.... [flagbabygirl]
Wow, I don't think I ever met anyone who actually skipped school to read! You must really love books. And 5 books a month is really darn good compared to many. [theproperator]

I read as many books as possible as a child. Even one my mother was angry about. On many days, I chose to read a book instead of playing jumprope, or something else, with my sisters. Now as an adult, I do not read for pleasure nearly as much. Much of my reading is now done on the internet. I read to my 7 year old daughter. Or, I read along with her as she displays her reading talents. I still read as a hobby; but, not nearly as much. Life is now filled with so much more responsibilty. [Munira]

As a kid I alawys had a book in my hands ... everywhere we went I took a book ...now the last book I have read was puss in boots to my two year old this week ... I think in the past year I have read 2 books ..one was on relationships and the another was chicken soup for teenagers ... [lifeiseasy]
Yeah, being an adult can really cramp the freetime activities, can't it? :-) [theproperator]

When I pick up a book I find I can't do anything else, so I don't pick them up as often as I'd like., But yet I seem to spend endless ours on the net.... [design]
Exactly my problem; I could have probably read half of Angles and Demons in the time I spent on myLot today.... :-) [theproperator]

oh i didnt read any book is that apoor thing [ahmedmarz]

I am not much of a reader, it is something that I didn't enjoy doing at school much. So I guess it is something that has followed me as I have grown up. Although I will sit down and help my children out with their books to try and encourage them as much as possible. [Chele2k2]

I love reading books especially if it's something I am interested in learning about. I know a lot of people surf the internet and get the information they need. I do that a lot too! But , I really do enjoy curling up with a book and reading. It's more relaxing and less distracting.... I can't seem to stand one window open on the computer..I always feel the need to multitask, LOL [trouble4u2avoid]
LOL...I was distracted...I read at least 3-4 books per month. Mostly relating to genealogy or history. [trouble4u2avoid]

I'm not a reader. Have never finished any book really unless I needed it for school. I wish I had more time to read though. [marief2rnurse]
