First I look for the interests on the top. After choosing one from it (it depends from time to time), I just scan the topic titles before I pick one. If I feel I can answer it, I respond. Otherwise, I navigate out. My favorite topics are computer, internet, cooking, travel, make extra money, reading, music, people, cars, technology, cell phone and ...... many. I read all discussions my friends post but not all of them I am able to reply. I only reply to those I can relate and have knowledge of. There is no specific catagory that me. I will reply anything regardless of which catagory they are in. [zandi458]

i am not interested to respond the discussion which i was not interested.I will serch the discussions and i found that if any discussion is interesting and that is related to me i will click on that and i go on typing to that discussion, and if it is not interested i will quit it and search for another one.If any topic is seems to be nice i will first add it as my interest.And i usually the discussions in my interests,My interesting topic is RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE.This is my interesting one. I can get a bit obsessed with individuals and tend to focus on them for a while, but don't worry, it does pass. wink I also tend to stick to my other friends discussions, as I don't have the time to trawl through the rest and I rarely go into my 'so-called' interests. If someone checked up on me they could actually accuse me of NOT being interested in my interests, and I would have to hold my hands up and admit it. blush [Scoop_Dogg]

I tend to just look aimlessly although I always start with "Friends Started". I certainly don't answer all theirs though, nor they mine. Sometimes I look, see nothing of real interest and walk away. Next time I come there might be ten discussions that grab my attention. Like this one! No, I would never permanently change my avatar. I have temporarily changed it: Once for my now infamous bra pic and once when a friend photoshopped me into a dress and court shoes. Well I get email notifications when a friend starts a new discussion so I check those out. (That is how I got yourshappy) Then I check out the current discussions (usually 8) at the top of the screen. Next mylot sending my the top from my interests group and from there it is just hunt and pick. I forgot how to change my avatar but it is time so i will have to try to figure it out. Sometimes..yea..I do reply even though I have no idea what they are talking about. I do that because others might follow me and then that friend will get more responses...hopefully. First of all, I would just like to know what you were doing up at 3:30 in the morning!? Are ya nuts!? Secondly, I do respond in friends discussions sometimes when I don't really have anything to say. Pop in, throw up the ninja and leave, or tell them I was just letting them know I had read the discussion. Sometimes. Sometimes, if I don't have anything to say, I read them then go on my way. I look thru my notifications, and when I see an interest on top that I'm really interested in, I check it. I do tend to mostly respond to the notifications, but I also tend to find something in the interests that I will respond to. [ElicBxn]

Sometimes it's alot....I respond to my friends if I have something to contribute...but if I don't then I don't comment on them. I check out all my interests after I go through my friends' discussion. Hey makingpots, I have seen me read plenty of discussions without feeling I could add to it or just not into the topic and pass. But then there are times I am a blabber mouth and find it very easy to find things to talk about. Now that I have become more active as of late I tend to hit up my friends discussions first. I read only the interesting discussions, I see here on Mylot, if it be my friends discussion or no mater whos it is, If it is something I want to answer I am going to reply to it, but it has to hold my interest because, if it doesn't I am not going to send a reply, I hate boring discussions, and I have seen a lot of them on here in Mylot,happy [notlistening2]

It often takes me ages to find anything to respond to on Mylot I look at discussions my friends started first, then at whatever has been recently active in the bar along the top. Life and people tend to be the most active and have some of the best discussions as well as a lot of crap. [nancyrowina]

I answer my discussions, then i do my friends, then sometimes i'll just pick a friend i'm feeling is being piticularly interesting at that time, and i'll follow them around on all their discussions they responded to.. I used to do it to the bear pretty often, i dunno where he used to find some of those discussions, but they usually where pretty good ones. and funny ones too. Well for now it seems most of my time spent here is trying to make responses to my own discussions I've started and it's taking me forever since I've started quite a number of them lately...but as for discussions to respond to...the only ones I really don't reply to are political ones or if someone is discussing a TV show..since I don't watch much TV I just can't relate. As for changing avatars...I've had this same avatar for about four years..I use it wherever I need to use one...I've only gotten into making a "theme" version just recently, first by making a Christmas version with a little X-Mas tree and candy canes, then a New Year's version with Balloons and champagne and now this one to suggest Valentine's Day..the only time I did change it was sometime ago, when a whole bunch of us did the puppy brigade thing--do you remember that??? You probably remember all those sndcain avatars also. I was one of those who saw the entire situation as it happened. Someone flamed another member in a discussion, & sndcain jumped in, & asked the flamer to pike down & pointing at the guidelines. The flamer started in on her, & sndcain got banned instead of the offender. Many discussions got started that gave the MyLot moderators a run for their money, too, & I started that interest group. I believe out of maybe 25 or more different discussions that got started by several people she had helped, only two survive. [KrazyKlingon]
First thing I usually try to look at those who have responded to my discussion. And try to respond to those who have posted responses that warrants response feedback as well. Next I try to see those that I have responded to because sometimes those who started it makes a comment that I can give back my response. Next I try to look at the posted discussions and see if they interest me. I seldom look at my interest first. I don't reply to friends discussions just so i have something to say. I have been trying to support my friends discussions first. I have tried to respond to many of my friends posts, but most of them haven't responded to mine. It seems that I read at least 10 posts for every 1 that I respond to. I may not always have something to offer, but I have enjoyed learning new things. I find myself looking at new topics a lot. Yesterday someone told me about similar discussions beside our posts, so I'll be looking on the side of posts more from now on. I like the vessels in your picture, but the bear is cute, too. I spend a lot of time looking for the discussion that I will answer. I like to answer discussions that I can answer with a good answer. What I do first is come to the home page and see what discussions are there. I answer those that I feel I can answer with a good answer. From there I go to the page where my friends discussions are and choose those that I can answer with a good answer. I don't reply to a discussion unless I have something to say. My favorite catagory is the life catagory. I would not change my avatar because the picture there is very dear to my heart. It is a picture of my husband who I love very much and myself. We have been married for 36 years and this is the avatar I will keep always. [sunshinelady]

I will just respond to topics of my friends that interest me. I am responding topics of my friends so that I can help them earn while I'm earning for myself. I won't waste my time writing anything without any sense. Regarding on changing avatar, it is normal that someone would change his/her avatar in accordance to his/her mood. But as much as possible avatars are very useful because most of your friends are getting to know you through your avatar. You can easily be remembered. Thanks for the discussion. God bless. I have so many discussions read every day and mostly they are from friends and newbies. I don't have specific discussion interests but areas that I can relate most are life, parenting, sports, and relationship. But I also respond to interests which I can relate such as mylot, religion, spirituality, etc.blush [mjmlagat]
when i first started i used to go by my intrests too.. but then i got bored cause they were all the same topics over and over! if you go by your friends, they may have different topics theny o have and you can add even more interests! [Sissygrl]

how many discussions do I read before I post....all depends on the day, some days I can log in and right away find 2 or 3 discussions that catch my attention and I post right away then there are some days I log on and it may take me 20 or so dicussions to go through before I find something that I can contribute to...LOL, and then there are days that my brain wont stop and I start discussions right away. Sometimes I find a lot and sometimes I have to search for awhile to find something to respond to. I normally go through my friends started tab and try to find friends discussions to respond to first. I read most of the discussions my friend's start since I do receive email notifications. If I don't understand a discussion, it has to do with politics or religion most often I'll skip it. A few times I've gone to an interest or read the daily email myLot sends out to see if there is something that catches my interest. For me it could be either way. I don't have a pattern when it comes to replying to discussions. Before I seen this discussion I was searching through my friends discussions trying to find one that I'm able to answer well. Sometimes when I first hop on Mylot I would go straight to my friends discussions first and respond to several of those depending on how many I can find that interest me. Most of the time I check my email to see what my email notifier friends are talking about. I usually respond to those discussions before anyone else's. no no no, it is not really my thing to give a response to all the discussions around. this is why I am not a very active member really. I usually look for some discussions which I can say at least a few lines of things. giving one line responses is not useful for anything as you already know.it won't help you to earn more and it won't help the discussion starter also. I simply open my friends discussions and read their headings, if I find that heading is an easier one and I can contribute something on the discussion, I go for it. I just cannot afford to read some 5-10 discussions and then decide, which one to respond. I avoid only those discussions, which I see that cannot be responded by me at all, due to my lack of knowledge on that subject. Otherwise, I try my best to respond. If there is no discussions in the category of 'discussions friends started', then I look for people, life, mylot and relationship kinds of interest to check some interesting discussions. No, I don't hit up my friends to respond to my discussions. There are only a few discussions that are of interest to me, but that's not why I use MYLOT. I use it to hone my writing skills, as I write on another site for $. This site helps me with my vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and typing skills. So it really doesn't matter what I respond to. I have only changed my avatar once and have not changed anything since. [freefogging]

That depends on my mood, If I am serious about being on mylot I start by responding to my mylot digest and from there to whoever I have notices from, then to my interests. I try to respond to all my friends discussions, unless I can't think of anything to say. Once I've answered all those, I check out the "hot" and "today's top" sections to see if there's something interesting in there. Then I try to find at least one "no responses" that sounds interesing to answer. I know what it's like to be the odd "man" out, and not get any responses. So I want to help them out. But sometimes it's hard to find one that's interesting! After all that, I dip into "watching movies" or another one to see if anything interesting has come up that I want to participate in. After that I will read the discussion that I am interest and the top discussion, If there is any discussion I like to response, I will go. My interest will be listening to music, watching movies, internet, food, drink, animal, computers, fruits, cooking, sleeping, health, friends. I seldom change my avatar, if I do, that would be just I want to change it, that's all, no reason. [my125125]
Actually I have no idea but it is quite a lot. I do have the notifications turned on for most of my friends so I read every discussion that they start. As I go through the emails, I delete the ones that I am not intrested in or maybe have no knowledge of. When I have finished those responses and if I have time, then I will browse through several other categories. Some of the discussions I just quickly scan and decide I cannot add anything to that one. Others I read through entirely and come to the same conclusion so skip onto the next one. When I think about it I would respond to less than a quarter of those that I actually read because I do spend a fair amount of time reading discussions before I even begin to respond to any. Yes the interest category is one that I check out as sometimes there are discussions that I can make a decent response to. I don't actually have any particular category as a favourite as it depends on my mood as to whether or not I respond. Now for the tricky questions you sneaked in at the very end to see if we read what you have written. lol No I would not change my avatar as I quite like the galahs. At first, I usually will go through the digest that was sent to my email and answer some of the ones that were featured from my interests. After that, I will browse some. Sometimes, I browse through discussions friends started. A lot of the time though, I try to just stick to my interests, as a lot of discussions friends start are ones that seem almost pointless to comment on. A common theme seems to be parenting. I can give my insight from when I was a child, or what people I know mention, but when the final question is something to the extent of "What do you do with your children in the situation..." It seems to be sort of cheating to reply a lot with a standard "I am not a parent" and then give some theory that might not be appreciated since it probably was targeted at parents. [UtopianIdealist]
I read about 10+ discussions a day. I use the mylot digest email to read the ten top popular ones. I usually respond to each and every one that makes it on the mylot digest. But now I've started picking and choosing which ones from the digest email that I will respond too. Next I try to start a couple of discussions, and respond to everyone that replies to my discussions. Then I try to look up a couple of discussions that the people in my friend list have started. After doing that I usually log off for the day and move on to my other online activities. Since I've already made well over the minimum payout for this month, I'm primarily just responding to, so that I can stay active. I'm not responding to all of the digest emails daily like I was planning to at one point in time. I don't respond to a discussion without first attempting to make sure I can at least respond with 4 to 7 lines worth of text though. [hdjohnson]
hello,, for me first i reply to the discussion made by my friends, one by one according to my interest and if the topics seem more outstanding or interesting. after that i look through those one in my interest. at the same time i make new questions. i seldom look around by interest catagory i prefer to answer questions under my friends section. hm i dont change my avatar that often.. :)happy [lovesummer]
I usually respond to all of my friend's discussions first, then I hang out in some of my favorite interests, like reading. Then I try the 'new' discussions as well as new users, because I like to support them as they begin. Yes, I would use that bear avatar if I were to close this account and start again. I like it. I think that it speaks volumes for the kind of person it represents. [mysdianasshat]
i usually read my friends discussions and i do give some input to their discussions but i donot think i will ever change my avatar to get more responses. [riyasam]
I don't really check the categories or who starts the discussion when I respond. I try to respond to all I get and see in the time I have to do it. I don't really have a favorite category. I find there are many discussions about subjects that are near and dear to my heart some days and some that I don't really have any real feelings one way or another about on others. I honestly do try to reply to 90% of my friend's discussions or sometimes a 100% but today when I had 58 posts it was too difficult to accomplish. so if a friend posted 4 discussions then I answered one. I tried to answer one from each friend. I seem to be hopeless at discussions as I do not get many responses. I suppose that I am better at responding than posting. However, I wish that this wasn't so. I just have to keep trying to think of something interesting that appeals to everyone - like this one! I first go through all my friends discussion. I respond to most of them, but there are a few that I just don't have nothing to say so I will pass them on by. I have all my friends on notify so my inbox is always full and I don't have enough hours in a day to catch up. I think right now if I went and answered everything in my inbox that would be 156 discussions! I dont think I can do that so I just keep them all on there and I will eventually get to them. Look at this one it's a week old and I am just now reading it and responding happy. But I got to it, thats all that matters right? I don't think we are friends, but I also keep all the digests too because there is usually interesting ones in there as well. [messageme]

I jus t go to the discussions started by friends, and then start.There is no specific number but it is essential that the topic should be such that I would be able to write a few lines.Some topics do not hold my interest even if it is by friends ,if I cannot contribute a thing towards this. I would not change my avataar for this sake. Soemtimes I also look at interests for responding to a discussion. [kalav56]
