This is a very common question in this present day of Internet and cable TV. These two systems take away most of my time in a day. For reading books, I find very less time at present. What about you friends? Are you finding sufficent time for reading books? Please discuss...

I read every nite before I go to sleep...I read a 400 page book in a couple of days...Reading helps me relax.. [Feona1962]
w00tWoow! You are a good reader indeed! Reading is the traditional key for learning and lerning properly boosts our confidence! Thanks for your nice response!surrender [Mitraa]
I'm not much of a reader at all. I stay too busy working online to have much time for reading other than things I have to read while on the internet. [stephcjh]
w00tThe samething is also with me! My reading time is mostly taken away by surfing! Thanks for your nice rsponse!surrender [Mitraa]
I find quite a bit of time for reading. I always carry a book with me every where I go. I hate waiting in line or at doctors offices. When I am in a position where I have to wait I get my book out and start reading. That way I don't feel like I wasted my time by having to wait on someone else and my nerves don't get frayed. [savak03]
w00tGot a very good idea from you Savak! I shall have to follow this like you in similar situations! Thanks and have nice reading and have a good day! [Mitraa]
Nothing to discuss. I got no time. lol But seriously... I am in the same boat. But it is a matter of choice. I obviously prefer to watch DVDs and spend time on the internet than reading. If my favourite hobby was to read... that's what I would do. And I do quite a bit of reading on the internet... which teach me a few things that I would not learn while reading a fiction novel. [Aussies2007]
happyI hope, deciding few minutes for reading regularly can be a good solution! Thanks for your nice response! [Mitraa]
Not very much these days. I agree that the tv and the internet, plus my nintendo ds are very big competitors as to my attention, and I must admit that reading has lost out to these three for quite some time. I remember just devouring book after book while I was still in school. Although I was also addicted to the tv then, it was no competition when it comes to reading. The last time I probably made time to read a book was last week when my sister got her twilight paperback. I was really curious, and so I read it, but I think I like the movie better LOL! happyThanks for your nice response! Have a good day and nice mylotting!w00t [Mitraa]
I am a student an I read books for around 10 hours a day! [ishansharma001]
happySo reading your text books is a must for you! Thanks for this nice response! [Mitraa]
I don't find as much time reading books these days, but I recognise the value of doing so and so now I schedule in time during my day (usually about mid-afternoon) to catch up on my reading. I have always read a lot and cannot remember a time when I did not have a book I was reading. It's just that these days, they are getting read slower! :-) Derek [derek_a]
happyYou are then a good reader of many books Derek! Thanks for this nice response!w00t [Mitraa]
Hi Mitraa, I try to make time; I would read an hour or so, before sleeping on weekdays. And on weekends, if I don't have any appointments or work, I would stay home, and therefore have more time to read, besides watching TV or spending time on the internet. [lazeebee]
Read more to feed your mind more! Thanks! [Mitraa]
Not as much as I used to because I do spend more time online and also doing projects around the house that I used to put off. I see my friends a little bit more now that I am retired but many of them are still busy and that makes it hard for them. At least email helps me keep in touch. [nanajanet]
Thanks madame for your nice response! Have a good day! [Mitraa]
hello buddy, i do agree with you. internet, cable television and video games take a lot of time away from us.... that we could have used to get some physical activity and also at the same time read books. well actually i do not watch mush of the television or play video games. most of my extra time goes for the internet. but despite that i take some time out that i find to read some interesting novels that my sisters bring to read. they always get the latest books and all and so i get some time to read them. have a good day and happy postings over here at my lot. [praveenjena]
happyThanks Praveen for your nice and well thought response! Have a good day and nice mylotting! [Mitraa]
Hello Mitraa I don't read books as much as I used to read them, and I miss that. I enjoy reading books. I have been spending more time reading online, but I plan to do more offline reading. [Transdisc]
Thanks for your nice response! [Mitraa]
I love to read, and I read almost everyday. I carry a book with me almost all the time. I usually finished 2-4 books a week, depending on how busy my schedule is. I'm not fond of watching TV. Although I'm online most of the time, I can only stay for long, before I'm picking up a book. I don't think I'll ever change despite how busy things can be, I will always have time to read even just a few pages of my current book. [wayz12]
w00tYou are a good reader indeed! Have your own reading time and enjoy well with the company of good books! Thanks for this nice response! [Mitraa]
well everyday i either watch a movie for oen n a half our or i just sit down n read a good book happy lotting and have a nice day! [thecrazyjogger]
happyRead regularly everyday and feed your mind with new ideas from the company of good books! Thanks for your nice posting and have a good day with nice mylotting!w00t [Mitraa]
These days am more on e-media and very less on printed media materials. Quick search on internet helps me much rather than looking for one book. In fact to look for one reference of item and I have to buy the related book(let say), I think it is no longer a pragmatic way for knowledge finding. Much more better on internet web page, whereby, I can read many comments from e-surfers on that particular topic or search item. It doesn't mean that I totally rejected those printed medias or book materials, no, but there are many quick ways now available on internet. It just like a printed location map, not an obsolete item, but people now would be much comfortable to carry along their GPS device. More convenience, so called. [michaeldadona]
happyThanks for your nice response Michael! Have a good association with printed media! [Mitraa]
I spend a little time reading each day. I am always reading an autobiography, and I still actually purchase and read the daily newspaper. I will go online and read the newspaper from my old hometown too. I guess I spend about 2 to 3 hours a day reading. I really enjoy it. [tarheel]
w00tMany thanks for your good reading habit and up to 3 hours daily! Have a good day and nice reading! [Mitraa]
I read every night before I sleep. I suffer from insomnia, and reading before bed helps me sleep :) I try to read for between 30-60 minutes each night. I really love reading! [sierramist]
happyReading before sleep at night is certainly a good habit! Thanks and keep on this good habit! [Mitraa]
Being an avid reader, I understand perfectly what you are saying. Our lives are so busy that it's getting harder and harder to set aside time for one of our favorite hobbies. I usually keep a book with me at all times, at least a paperback one that fits nicely into my bag. There are many times throughout the day where you have to wait in line, or wait your turn. I call these my 'stolen' minutes, where I can get a few pages in. You'd be surprised, if you try this, how much reading you can actually get done. Waiting has become a global pasttime...lol. I also read while I eat my meals and before I go to bed I like to take a nice hot bath with a good book. Good luck finding a few extra reading minutes! [catdla1]
You are quite welcome! I discovered another one yesterday. Where I live there seems to be a lot of road Construction going on. Pair that with a car accident, and sometimes you can be sitting in your car for quite a while. Yesterday I sat for 15 minutes waiting for traffic to move, thankfully the accident was a minor one! I enjoyed a bit of stolen reading time. It sure beats sitting in the car doing nothing! [catdla1]
I generally read for about 30 minutes to an hour each night during the week. Sometimes a bit longer on the weekends. It is relaxing and gets my mind off the insanity of the day. [Carolyn63]
happyGood! Carry it on better! Have a good day!rolleyes [Mitraa]
I am a bookwarm! :) I always spend huge part of my spare time in reading books. [kmkper]
w00tIt is a matter of pride to become a 'Bookworm'! Thanks and have good reading times!rolleyes [Mitraa]
I mainly read on the bus to and from my way to work. That adds up to about an hour a day. It's true that the internet has really caused me to cut down on how much I read, but I still manage to get that hour in. [onesiobhan]
Hi mitraa, how are you being? I read always before sleep, in my bed. I use to do this since I was a child and get this habit. I never could sleep before read at least three or four pages. And if I don't have a new book to read I take an old one to reread. Sometimes I can take a time during the day to read too and it is great for me. I have the habit even to read newspapers every morning. I really can't leave these habits and I don't try too lolbecause I love to read. Have a nice day dear friend. [teka44]
Hi. Ilove to read and have a night stand full of books. I read every night before I go to bed. I would like to have time to read every afternoon, but i never seem to be able to...there is always some kind of cleaning, laundry etc to do. Maybe someday we my kids are up and gone, I will have to read. Nadine [Nadinest]
I try to find time everyday but it just depends. Usually i can read a bit before bed. there have been times like now when I am so into a book I read through dinner and before bed and wake up on a day off and continue reading until I finish it mid morning. it depends on the ease of reading material. I wish I had more time to read, but then again I would get frustrated with everything I need to do. So I set up a schedule of everything, even Mylotting. [taface412]
Hi! There used to be a time when I could just sit down with a book And finish a novel in one go.But now as you say internet more than the TV takes up most of my time.I do miss my reading.I do make it a point to read a few pages before I sleep. As a result it takes a very long time to finish a novel.I try to spend atleast one hour before I sleep to read. [biggerb]
Not enough- I wish there were more hours in the day.. I haven't read a book in months and I really miss it. [minx267]
Definitely, there is not sufficient time to read books. This is even with watching a lot less TV than I used to. But as you suggest, the internet takes away so much time. I try to ration the time I spend on it, but it's soooooo difficult! ninjaninjaninja [dreamhealer]
Long ago when I was in school I read an article in The Science Reporter- a magazine published by CSIR, India. The article was on J.C.Maxwell of the famous Maxwell's Equations- I mean, you would know him if you are an Electronic or electrical Engineer or a Physicist. Maxwell had a strange way of saving time. He used to work through the night and sleep from 7.00 up to 10.00 or so in the morning say stealing a 3-hour sleep. Then he used to continue working till 2.00 p.m in the afternoon, sleep another three hours and then start working. Between his sleep to wakefulness moments, in order to be wide awake he used to run up and down a flight of stairs, so that at the end of this exercise he would be fully awake! I recounted this story from my childhood reading only to throw in an interesting piece to quote how people find strange ways to find time, and stranger ways to be effective! Reading is an activity that must be done with concentration unless it is a film gossip mag that one is reading. Like, if I were to be reading a computer programming book, that can't be read unless I am with a computer and practicing! So, the ways one finds to read are dependent on what you are reading. How do I find time to read. There are times when I travel. If it is an overnight journey, I choose to travel by train. I carry a few books. Some times it would be 3 to 4 books. If fact my attache weighs more due to books than clothes! I may get to read all of them or some of them, at most. I read some part of a book put a marker there and continue from where I left in another book. This way by alternating between books I find time to read many books at a time. This thing I have started pretty recently. Otherwise I used to read books one by one. That way I was a lot slower. The new experiment is working. It also helps fight boredom. [GADHISUNU]
I try to read when I can. I can mostly find time on the weekends when I don't have to work [afdinki]
Yes, I love in reading many philosophy books, we get more knowledge by reading only.... we get more experience by reading books only..... [arunmails]
During saturdays and breaktimes or lag times when im not busy. i love to read, so even if there's little time (like 15 minutes) i still try to read especially if the book's really special. [kukaisiton]
I love to read however due to business obligations on the Internet and my part time job I find very little time to read. I could work some time in later in the evening however this would take away time that I like to spend with my friends. I guess if I am going to get any reading done that I am going to have to make it a higher priority. [keithstieneke]
I would like to have more time to read, though I find when I do have the time, I am not in the mood, or I lack the proper focus. Sometimes, it is just easier to zone out on something else. I dispise the feeling I get when I "froce" myself to read. I want to do so because I am looking for enrichment, not to do so just for the sake of knowing I read. [UtopianIdealist]
I totally agree with you. Reading habit is being vanished with effect of rise of TV, Internet, and such other visual and audio invention. These invention suffered our reading habits and we noted that people do not go to library and draw the books to read. I am a busy man and I also can not spare me to watch the TV and such other things. Reading a book requires much and more attention which is not possible for me and for the busy people like me. [sheenshaukat]
good question. i hate reading first off, but there is a few books out there that i love. anyways from school, mylot, tv and sleep i rarly have time to read. when i come home everyday i tend to get online and check everything that i have an account with and that alone takes at least an hour. then i get on mylot and spend the majority of my time looking for new disscussions to find out new things and posting to them, so the answer i from me would be very soldum i have time to read.
