I have 3 favourite books that I usually read once a year - One is called "The Inn of Sixth Happiness" about an amazing missionary during WW2 in China; the next is (believe it or not) a Danielle Steel book "Message from Nam" (I like this one because I am very interested in the war and she tells it like she was actually there....) the third fav is a historical glimpse of the 20th century (hubby bought it for me!!) and it gives about 4 pages on each year starting at 1900
what are your fav and how often do you read them?

I've too many favourites to list!!! Some of them are Angelas Ahes, A child called it by Dave Pelzer(a true story and so sad!), Maeve Binchy oh can't even decide between them all in my head! The great thing is I have a terrible memory so if I have nothing new to read I can go back and read them all over again!!! [mummymo]
Have you ever seen the movie? It was made in the early 50's I believe and starred Curt Jergens, and Ingrid Bergman. I love that movie! It is such a great story. Although I am a huge fan of Nora Roberts, my favorite all time book and one whose pages are coming apart is Danielle Steele, Thurston House. I think it was one of her first, and I love that story. I am so happy someone else is familiar with Inn of Sixth Happiness. I thought I was the only one who knew the story any more. I haven't read the book, how closely does the movie follow the book. No, i have never seen the movie, but would so love to!! Its an amazing story of an amazing lady who totally relied on God! I hope you can get your hands on the book someday (come to canada, i will lend you my copy...as long as i get it back lol!!) [cher913]
I have some favorite books I re-read; one is Tajuana Butler's "Just My Luck" about a young girl who is born during the 1965 LA Watts Riots and have a roller coaster life of ups and downs. Along the way she meets some cool people. I also love Danielle Steel's "A Perfect Stranger" and I re read it for the first time in years. I lost my copy along the way and got another copy recently. I also like "Butterfly" by Kathryn Harvey as well as "Stars" very interesting books. I also read "Acts of Faith" by Iyanla Vanzant to get me going or through times I need a bit of guidance. I love Susan Taylor's In The Spirit; Someone mentioned "Message from Nam" I loved that book; I bought it when it first came out in hardcover for like $9.00 due to me being in the store's frequent buyers club and also having $5 coupons to it; I have many plus I read the Bible too. [Savvynlady]
I have two favorites: Enter the Zone, by Barry Sears and Chosen for a Blessing in spanish (Escogidos para Bendicion) by H. Norman Wright. I love to read them again and again. Enter the Zone gives me alternatives to choose the right foods and lose weight. [mimatexas]
I rarely reread books at all. I'm not sure why. I just don't care to read books more than once. Some books, like the Bible, I will open up and read snippets of over and over again, but usually I just... don't read a book more than once. [amusements]
You sound like me. [dopey22girl]
I couldent even begin to list all the books that i love reading! I can re read them all the time, with no issues. I feel bad for my mom because she cant read a book more then once, she says she remembers the rest of the story and that irritates her. But thankfully i can. Ill read them again and again, even memorizing parts of them. [silvermoonmyst]
I've probably re-read Anne McCaffrey's "Dragon" books most often. I've also re-read a trilogy called "Dolphin Boy" "Daughters of the Dolphin" and "Destiny and the Dolphins." However, I haven't re-read too many books lately. Too many books, too little time! [ElicBxn]
As much as I love some books, I can only read them once. Once I have already read a book, I cannot read it again. I think it's mostly because I already know what has happened and that makes me lose interest in the book. But that doesn't mean that I don't absolutely adore some books. I finished The Undomestic Goddess a couple weeks ago and I can't stop ranting and raving about it! [dopey22girl]
I usually read my favorite books about twice a year. My favorites are The Bone Collector by Jeffrey Deaver. I love crime thriller. Another favorite is Fade To Black : A Book Of Movie Obituaries, This is a fascinating look at the lives of people in the film industry that have passed on. [nlgough]
Like others, I couldn't list all my favorite books. Some are Little Women, Joy in the Morning, The Beekeeper's Apprentice, Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs, and a lot more. And, I read them whenever the mood hits. I get the urge to read one and I'll read it. Sometimes it'll be 4 or 5 times a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. [Angelwriter]
if i would read a book, it would be an adventure type of book, coz it makes me boring to read books dont have much action, i think for me, it doesnt makes sense. [axe_effect]
i usually read my favourite books atleast twice a year. my two favourite series are 'harry potter' n 'lord of the rings'. so i can say that there r 10 books (6 from harry potter n 4 from LOTR) which i read atleast twice a year. [abhi333]
It is not easily to have time to read what you like~~ [figogary2005]
I mostly read all my favorite books everyday whenever i get any chances reading them. I just like to read books in my free time until i fall asleep with my books around my bed. [adlemi82]
I reread my favourite books quite often. They are: Of Human Bondage by William Somerset Maugham and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I also like to reread other books by these authors and by authors like Terry Pratchett. [cutepenguin]
I generally am the type of gal that borrows books from the library rather than buying them, but certain books I have loved so much that I have had to have them for myself. I would say that I read them each every two years or so. Every once in awhile something will remind me of a beloved piece of literature and I will get the urge to pick it up again. For example, I read "Memoirs of a Geisha" for the first time many years ago and although I loved it, it eventually faded from my memory. However, when the motion picture based on the memoirs was released last year, I went out and bought the book and read it immediately. I couldn't believe that I had forgotten it. I know that it is a book that I will read again and again. Another book that I have read several times is "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. I even like to return to my childhood favorites once in awhile, including "Where the Red Fern Grows" and "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh". You are never too old for such classics as far as I'm concerned. I think that the true mark of success as an author comes when your readers can enjoy your book over and over and never tire of it. [dillinger83]
I totally want to read 'Memoirs of a Geisha'...was it good? [cher913]
i dont like to read book over 2 times, because i was understand where the story ended, and whats the person in the book do [thanmeir]
to be a true reader i love reading books.for me its not the number of times but the matter you read must be carefully understood [kiranprasadm]
Not very often actually. Do not have much time to reread the books. To finish one book will require lots of time. I wish i have more time to read my favourite books like Desperation by Stephen King, While My Pretty one Sleeping by Mary Higgins Clark and Partners by John Grisham. [alfonseelric]
I have SO many favorites, but I think the one I like most is PS, I love You by Cecelia Ahern. I've read this book over and over again and it never fails to make me laugh and cry at the same time. Cecelia Ahern has a wonderful gift and it shows in her writing. Her stories flow smoothly and there are no breaks where you think "Wait, what'd I miss??" I love her stuff. Well worth the money for sure. [retardedrugrat]
i actually read something interesting like harry potter.. although i juz read 2 books.. [japboy]
Yes, I have favourite books, as well. My all time best one is Abra, by Joan Barfoot. It's about a woman who leaves her husband and two young children to go live in the wilderness alone. It's weird, but there is something about this book that draws me, I don't know why. It's not that I would do that, or would even want to, but it intrigues me. It's a great read. [feelinggood]
I too have quite a few books that I read often. It's a huge list, but I tend to re-read Robert Heinlen and Azimov's books all the time - yeah i do like science fiction :) There is also Utopia, that I read often and stepenwolf. I also re-read my collection of sherlock holmes books often.Gabriel Garcia Lorca is also on my list of the books that I read more than once. [arkaf61]
I have several favorite books that I re-read every so often. Normally it's about once a year but sometimes twice. That includes the entire Dune series, all 6 books. And I also re-read several of Urusla LeGuin's books every year. They are The Left Hand of Darkness, The Earthsea series, Three Hainish Novels and The Fisherman of the Inland Sea. I probably read several of her other books yearly too. I just enjoy her so much as an author. I also read alot of historical non-fiction yearly as well. Now that is way too much to list...lol! [MadameLaCouyan]
Unfortunatly even though I possess hundreds of books i have never even read one of them twice .I realise what a waste this is but i am an obsesive collecter of things like books and movies ! [revdauphinee]
From time to time, Social Dynamic books are awesome because you can see the theories in action every day. [Slashher]
