In This Fast Paced World, Do You Still Have Time To Read Novels

Before I could read 3-4 novels a week. But now I could hardly finish one book per week. I spend more time at the computer writing. The internet kept my hands full with mylotting, writing for sites, reading blogs, writing for my blogs, surfing and reading my mails. I could hardly sit down and continue my paperback novel, which is "second chance" by Danielle Steel. What about you? did you altogether gave up reading for your internet activities? happy

responses and comments:

Oh yes! That is my escape. I love to read for hours.I may not get to do that as much anymore but that is the best way for me to relax. You are right tho, I have given up reading time because I am online more. What is mylotting? Is that used for this site? [mrscubana]
he he he, yes used for this site..lol..happy mylotting dear. and thanks for the comment. [Jenaisle]

Not just the internet... There are entirely too many distractions to read at home. I get started and have to go looking for a snack or play with a kitty. I have gotten to where I prefer sitting at a table in Starbucks because there are far fewer distractions. When I was a kid I could read a novel a day, if I didn't have anything else to do. Now, no way I could do that. [crimsonladybug]
Oh yes, I entirely agree. One book could be finished in a day. But now, tsk, tsk, that's not the case anymore..oh they have audio books now, perhaps, I'll buy one. [Jenaisle]

Yes! because of the hectic schedule nowadays, I read fewer books per week than I used to do earlier. I have a habit of reading books at a stretch rather than reading 3-4 pages whenever I have time. I think this habit of mine is the prime reason why I cannot read more novels now. Also earlier I used to read more novels in printed form. Nowadays I read more of ebooks. Carrying them around on a laptop is much easier. [prasanna201]
Yes, that's right. The laptop is where everything happens. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

Hi, only if I don't find a book that keeps my interest. For the most part I can read a few pages on a book I might buy before I make a decision, usually at amazon.com.The Internet is good for seeing what books are out there. [ds6413]
Wow , you shop online, do you save more when you shop online? I'm planning to buy books at amazon.com, but I just can buy the book at a local bookstore which maybe cheaper. I plan to browse over amazon to compare prices. Thanks for that significant input. [Jenaisle]

Hi Jen, it's true that there's hardly any time left to read. So before I sleep, I would try to read, until I doze off. But during the weekends especially on Sundays, if I don't have any work or appointments, I would have more time to read!happy [lazeebee]
That's good...on my part, even during weekends, I tend to stay more with the computer too..lol...I guess, I'll try your suggestion, read before I sleep. My eyes suffer though..thanks for that vital comment. Happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

I cannot find any time to read novels, as like you, most of the time is consumed in working on computer. Writing on mylot and Associated Contents. I do not write blogs, but love spending my time on mylot. To read Novels is definitely a different kind of pleasure and it cannot be compared with working on computer. Reading is a kind of mental excercise. But I wish I could read more novels. [dpk262006]
You're welcome. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I have reduced the number of books but haven't left reading altogether. I have to spend lots of time for commutation daily and I use that time to read ebooks...Its true though that most of my time is taken up by the internet...Lets hope we get the worth of that time...Have a nice day! [arthi_88]
Have a nice day too arthi and thanks for that vital input, Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I read one or two books a week. I really enjoy reading and I look forward to the end of each day when I have time to settle down and read. I don't have a television. Reading is my main indoor leisure activity, after completing my daily tasks and have turned off my computer. [paid2write]
That's good Ruth, TV adds more to the confusion..lol... I guess your eyes are not failing you, like mine does. lol...thanks for that good input. God bless. [Jenaisle]

I really don't have much time in reading novels now because I spend much time in the internet. One thing also is I seldom read novels but I do read magazines sometimes in the morning. I do read many things in the internet like discussions here or in some of the blogs in the internet. [keanusuke]
That's lots of reading too. Magazines are one of my reading materials too. Thanks for that good comment. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

No, I still make time for my reading. I love to read so I don't think the internet will ever have me stop reading. I may not read as much as I used to but I still make sure and read for at least an hour. And a lot of times I read longer than and hour once I sit down and start reading. Danielle Steel is one of the authors I like to read. [sunshinelady]
That's what I call self-discipline. My internet activity is taking all my time. I just can't stop..lol..in fact time is not enough even for my internet activities. Thanks for that good suggestion,. I'll try to follow your example. cheers. [Jenaisle]

Well, I must admit that eversince I started busying myself with online programs, the time I should be devoting to my 2nd love, which is reading, has diminished. Now, I can only finish around 2 or 3 novels a week which is a far cry from my former quota. I've relegated my online activities during the day, even when I'm manning our shop (in which case, I bring my laptop). The 2-3 novels are normally read in the evenings, when all else is quiet in the house. Night time is my "reading time".happy [crazyoverpurple]
I hope to read one of Higgins too, haven't read one yet. thanks and happy reading.lol. [Jenaisle]

I definitely still find the time to read. I don't read very fast, am a full-time student and part-time retail assistant, but I still manage to find time for one or two books a week. I write for a couple of music websites, keep my Facebook page up to date, and book swap online, but I still ensure I have time to read every day! My favourite place to read is in the bath :) - though there have been some wet book incidents...ahaha. [stowawaygirl]
he he he...I thought no one would say that. At times I do that too, yes wet books lol... It must be exciting to write for music websites. Why don't you share your good fortune with us. I love to write for music but don't know where to start. Thanks for that funny comment. I appreciate it. God bless. [Jenaisle]

I couldn't live without reading, although having said that, if no books were available, I'd be bound to start writing my own, which might be a good thing. Like you, my writing and internet activities have curtailed the time I have available to read, but I always read in bed, in the morning and at last thing at night. I also have a book near the table and read at the same time as eating when I'm alone. I usually have at least two books on the go, and at least one of them is always a novel. The other might be a travel book, or self-help, or something about writing, if it's not fiction. [jakill]
Wow Jean, that's quite a feat. But I guess reading will always be part of our loves. I can't read in bed though, I could if I'm sitting down. I'm curious as to what type of books you read. Thanks for that very informative comment. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Life may be busy but I love reading so much that I always put a little time each day to kick back and read a good book! [angemac23]
That must take a lot of discipline. I guess you don't have much internet activity Like I do? Thanks for responding. Happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

I try to read my novel book for at least half hour to an hour a day. But the internet does keep me really busy. Thanks. [chunijole]
half an hour would be good enough. Thanks for the input. [Jenaisle]

This question has been bugging me since last few days. I've been trying hard to complete one book, Justine hardy's "The Wonder house', but writing here on internet is keeping me so occupied that i am unable to complete reading this book. I am an avid reader but now I don't understand where the time flies. Many times I feel guilty that I am not able to give reading it's due time. [comfort55]
I feel the same way. Time flies when I am with the computer. I need more time..lol..thanks for the input. [Jenaisle]

It has gotten to the point where the only time I really get to read is on planes or vacation. I did finish one book last year while I was visiting my daughter and I did read a small one during the Christmas holidays....but not like I used to read! [jillhill]
Yes, it seems we are all experiencing the same thing. Here I am mylotting and not reading..lol... I hope I could read later. I guess we read the same genre of books. thanks for the comment. [Jenaisle]

Oh, yes, i have the same problem with you. I like reading novels in my leasure time before, but now if i have time i will go on internet, turely, there is much imformation than books, but reading is another taste and nothing can replace. So from this winner vocation i decide to reading more books. [yichuhehua]
only your own thought ,you would not efficiently implemente in fact [chinalong21]

Mine is almost the same story as yours. I used to be a voracious reader, and could read 200-250 pages in a day. I completed many many novels, and stories, and dramas, and collections. But now I am completely away from books. i do not have the patience to read one page also in a day. I feel impatient, and cannot turn through pages, and instead try to find some other work. In my case also internet, TV and other house work has kept be busy, and if don't find something else, I pay computer games, but seldom read books. [moumitamazumder]
He he he. can we say that the internet has changed the way we perceived books? even ebooks are now available from the internet. Do you read ebooks? Thanks for the input. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Yes, I don't read novels at all. I used too, back when I was in high school and those are Tagalog pocketbooks. I have a feel that English novels that would be the same, I am tired of it. If not, probably I can not relate to it, as I rarely watch foreign movies too. I read not novels, I would rather watch movie whether it is Tagalog, English or in any other language that I can understand. I like reading but not novels, I would be interested in non-fiction, or those explicitly based on it. But your question, do I still have to read on this fast-paced times, NO. I have a lot of computer, tutorials, science/business, religious books saved sitting waiting to be read. It's because information on the internet is fast, we prefer to read articles and people opinions, and to make quick decisions. [JDy116]
Wow, those instructional books give me the headaches. lol...I could relax more reading fiction, as they entertain me at the same time, sharpen my grammar. You express yourself well, you could be a freelance writer for writing sites, like helium, associated content and triond. Just a passing thought. Thanks for the reply and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

I like reading novels. It helps us exposed to a larger world, timewise and spacewise. It broadens our sight and enlightens our mind, meanwhile serving as spices to our dull life. Over centuries, novels have changed in the extent of details authors describe the scenes, characters, activities ... But whatever the changes, we can hardly be good in caring about details without reading novels. And attending to details has become more and more important for every and any body. Therefore, no matter how busy you are, spare some time for reading novels, as fun and as enrichment for your career development. [zhuhuifen46]
That's a sound advice Zhu, I guess you're into writing too. It indeed improves our writing skills and allow us to learn various things. Thanks for that well thought of answer and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

I still read but as correctly mentioned by you it is really difficult to read the novels. You are already preoccupied with so many things that you can not spare so much time for these things. I think your speed is still quite good. I am reducing on my grip day in and day out. [dropofrain]
Thanks. I will have to read if I want to succeed. Thanks for that encouraging comment. Happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Well lets see, before I had my two children I was sometimes able to finish 3 or 4 book a week too, now I am lucky to get past the first chapter in a week. There are just so many differnt things that need doing throughout a day here. I always make sure that my children have fun activities to keep them busy, then there is the cooking, cleaning, laundry and the ten million other little activities that I do on the internet. I guess that just happens, as time passes we find things that require more attention. I hope that you still find some time to read, I know that I read while I'm in the tub or while I'm waiting in a doctors office, pretty much whenever I can possibly find the time. [CRIVAS]
he he he, yes that applies to me too. There are many responsibilities for mothers, waiting for the doctor...lol...that's a good idea. I just did that yesterday, and I got to read the first chapter. Thanks for the important input. cheers. [Jenaisle]

I see to it that I have a book to read while inside the train. It takes about 20 minutes to the office, double that and i could finish a 400-page novel in 5 days. At home, I use the internet often. Yes, my reading decreased by 75%. [g_aileen09]
That's difficult for me, reading inside a moving vehicle. Good for you, thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

Few years back, after joining my present office, I developed the habit of reading novels. Reading a 'Novel' is a special charm. You can view the pictures of characters, and happenings around their world while reading a good novel. Besides, occasionally, I would be surprised to find a character quite similar to me in those novels. But I'm afraid to say that there are all the golden things of the past. Internet has virtually robbed me of my time. I need to manage so many things within a short time. Virtually, trial and error is the only method for anyone to learn the best in respect of Internet. I have to spend some useless time in trying different things. So, there is no time left for me to read books anymore. But I believe, I'll find sometime once my Internet journey finds a more solid plinth. And during that time, nobody can resist me from reading books. Cheers!!! [nilzerous1]
Yeah. I agree. And that's a good demonstration of time management. [nilzerous1]

That is so truly said. I used to read a lot when i was at college. The reading habit is literally dying down without any practice. The job,the family & the responsibilities keep no time spared to lie down & have a go with the books. I have started DOCTORs by erich segal two weeks back & am still on halfway. Yes internet is also taking a lion's share of the free time that i could use in reading. But i find this mylot more interesting these days. [uditpanda]
Mylot is still internet, lol..That book is good , so my friends tell me. Can I borrow it after you're done? lol. thanks for the vital comment. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Hi! I have not actually read a book in months! I really wanted to get back to reading at night before I go to sleep because this eases me. I could not do that anymore because I have been having a very busy day from my job and when I get home, I am just too tired. I would rest a bit and do my take-home work from my job. When I finish all this, I retire to bed with so much readiness to sleep. I could not even get to the internet because of my job. I hope I could read novels again in the near future. Happy myLotting! [ag_abscruzmd]
That's all of us wish for. Based on the comments, almost everyone wants to have more time reading. Thanks for that vital input and cheers. [Jenaisle]

I can honestly admit it has been a long time since I have even tried to read a book of any kind. It just seems like I never have the time to do so anymore because if I am not at work or Church, and around home, I am either sleeping or online or watching TV. So this does not really give me anytime, and as I am also busy Writing stuff to display in Writing sites, or posting here, this also leaves little time to read, and most of my reading is now spent online as well. So I would think Book sales would be on a huge decline as well. [KrauseHome]
Your observations are correct. I wonder what writing sites you write to. Church and home would indeed take much of your time. Thanks for the significant response. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Hi Jenaisle, I don't read anywhere near the amount I used to, and I love reading, my books are my "brain-candy". But now I find myself doing this and that either on the computer, or phone, or working on church and sunday school projects. I miss it alot, I used to go to the library once a week, but now I have almost forgotten how to get there LOL! I have discovered books on cd/tape and use them when I am doing mundane household chores, cleaning, ironing etc. The only book I remain faithful to read each day is my bible, I feel that reading the bible is imperative to a good life, what I really love about the bible is that you read a passage once and you get one thing out of it and the next time it reveals a different perspective to you. Happy Reading !!!!! be happy, be joyful, be safe, be strong! oohcute2340 [OOHCUTE2340]
That's a significant contribution, the Bible, I guess , yes we should do more spiritual reading. It enriches our souls. Thanks for sharing and I wish the same good things for you too. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I didn't give up reading and I don't think that I ever will, but my internet activities take up a lot of my time, and I read less than I did a couple of years ago. I still borrow many books at the library, but I usually don't manage to read them all. When I am at the library, I am always very optimistic, and I am always sure that I'll have enough time to read every book, but the truth is that I spend lots of time in front of the computer and that leaves less time for reading. [Porcospino]
he he he, exactly like me. I borrow ten books and I can't read them all because I'm usually at the computer. Good luck to you and thanks for that vital comment. [Jenaisle]

First of all, you are right about the time I would devote to reading has dropped because of our fast paced world. Nowadays the only time I read is during my breaks at work. But I have not given up on reading. I think it is important to read not just for information and knowledge but also for imagination. To keep our thought processes going, so we do not stagnate or degenerate. [benhilo]
I agree, stagnate and degenerate are two words, I would like to avoid. Reading also improves your writing skills and vocabulary. Thanks for that vital input. I wonder what books you consider to do this for you. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Like you, I write for many internet sites and read work written by my fellow writers and they also read mine. I love to read all kinds of books. However, I try to balance my time with my internet work and my reading of the books whose stories and other writings I enjoy. I don't spend as much time reading books as I used to, but I do manage to do a little bit of reading at least three to four times a week, four hours per week. However, as long as I'm doing the things I thoroughly enjoy, I'm okay with it. [Keola12]
What a positive attitude. Others should emulate you, me as well. thanks for that vital input. [Jenaisle]

Yes I do. I am not in a fast paced lifestyle no longer, but even when I was at my total busiest, I still kept a book or two or three in my purse at all times. Because I would be on the bus, or have breaks, and if I didn't want to hear no trash and I got something I can get into, that's what I did. I gotta be super busy with a job that is consuming so much of my time that I cannot take the time to even read a page. Thank God my life is not at that type of pace. There are things that I take the time for. Maybe that is why I am on a break. For the most of 2007-2008, I went between two jobs and worked an average of twelve to fourteen hours a day. When I had a day off, I would regroup and keep moving plus had to deal with two teenaged daughters. Somehow, I made the time. [Savvynlady]
That's good to hear. No more baby sitting for you. Thanks for that significant input. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I do let myself get caught up with things online and other things that keep me busy in life and often let my reading hobby go by the wayside. Mylot is my biggest distraction as far as this goes. I just returned from a vacation where I got a lot of reading done and gave a lot of thought to my priorities. As much as I like myLot, I think I enjoy reading more. [makingpots]
I's good you had a vacation. Thanks and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Hi Jenaisle! I am very sad to say that I just don't read much anymore! I spend way too much time here on mylot and I just find that I haven't been able to get myself to pick up a book like I used to. And it isn't that I don't like to read because I do. I started a mystery and I do intend to finish it. Alot of it has to do with the fact that I like to read in bed. My boyfriend goes to bed earlier then I do and has to get up to go to work and I don't. And he doesn't like the light on. I did buy one of those little book lights that you attach to the books. I have to try it and see if it works! I love to read mysteries and I love Danielle Steel too! I am going to try to get back into reading the novel that I started! I think that reading is a great way to relax and nourish the mind! [Opal26]
Yes, it is indeed relaxing and nourishing. Thanks for the valuable comment. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

AH I wish I had time to just sit and read books. Books are expensive and I've been lazy to go to the library because I don't know what books are good or which ones I like. I think when the spring semester starts I'll try to spend less time on the internet and more time studying and reading. I haven't been able to focus now because I've been trying to find a job to pay all the bills I have. It's been really hard, but hopefully this week I will have a good interview and have a job so I don't have any more major worries for now. - vanonas www.thelendingstory.com [vanonas]
Good luck with your studies. Thanks for taking time to comment. All the best. [Jenaisle]

Well at this present, no. Human inventions makes a lot of people (including me honestly) lazy. So I'd rather by a DVD of it and watch the documentary. I can comprehend the novel very well, I'm relaxed, and at the same time, I can have snacks or some bottle of beers while watching it.. LOL [paoxav]
I see, yes that's an option too, like watching the DVD of twilight instead of reading it. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

Sigh, I actually have the same sentiment. sad I even created a post about my "laziness" on my blog. Like you, I have been a novel addict. "Have been" that is. I haven't read a single novel since November! And I know the reason why. It was on November when I started working from home. I got so "addicted" with my PC then. Sigh... I miss reading you know. But I don't have much time now even if I cut off some time spent in front of the PC. I recently joined the motherhood club and oh boy! My little angel is taking most of my time I guess I won't have time with this computer next time! lol [maple_kisses]
Well, good luck with your mothering. It's the greatest responsilibity in the world. and thanks for the vital input. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Reading is my favourite. So i won't give up. Althought i often surf on the internet, i never forget to read a novel before i go to bed.Sometimes i will read novels on the net,but i think reading novels with books is more interesting! In this fast paced world, time is less than before, but if you pressure your time ,i think you still have time to read novels. [lazygirl]
Good for you and good luck, Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

The same is happening to me. I used to read a book in a week in summer. Now I take much longer. I used to read a little before going to bed. Nowadays since I spend longer time on the computer I am usually dead tired and end up sleeping immediatedly. I would be so tired that I would sleep like a log. (c) ronaldinu 2009 - the more people I meet-the more I love my dog [ronaldinu]
Yes, it seems we all have the same experience- the internet takes much of our time. thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

same here too jenaisle....due to the internet i seldom read books now...but during the night before sleeping i manage at least to read one chapter of the book im reading now ... [vanities]
That's good at least you have set aside a time to read. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

I used to read a lot. I used to have a book in my car, so if I arrived somewhere too early, as I usually did, I would park the car and continue reading until it was my appointment time. Now, I seem to do so much reading on the Internet, that there is not a great deal of time to read real books with paper pages. I will make time this year though.. :-) Derek [derek_a]
Lol, it seems the internet gets all the time from us. Thanks for the input.cheers. [Jenaisle]

I think I mostly used to read novels when I was in high school.. Since I stepped into the glories of motherhoodlol and with working, I am unable to concentrate on reading a novel even when I borrow them from the library, I have returned them uncomplete..whistle But one of these days...wink [marina321]
lol,,yes, me too. one of these days , too I'll read all those books that i have always wanted to read. [Jenaisle]

If you love reading, you will make time to read. I have just finished reading the novel, the white tiger. I catch up reading while traveliing. I travel a lot & catch up on my reading during these travel hours. Reading is a pleasure on readers know.I do not intend to stop this this habit anytime soon. Happy reading. & happy myLotting. [srijshm]
Good for you. Yes, while traveling one can read a lot. Thanks for that idea and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

I could hardly find time to read any serious novels nowadays. Perhaps time is just an excuse but most important of all is that I don't have that kind of enthusiasm and interest as I used to have now. The Internet is one major reason that keeps me from reading paperback novels and my 11-month old is another lol. I hope I could have more time to enjoy reading. [shinymood]
The 11 month old is worth all the time. Yes, indeed, the internet has eaten most of our time. Thanks for that good reply and cheers. [Jenaisle]

If we aren't careful, computing will take over our lives! I have reviewed books for a long time, but haven't done much recently. I love to read and have many books I haven't read. I was taking a book I was reading to the beautician's and read under the dryer. But I haven't even done that lately. Maybe I need to get back to that in order to get back to reading like I once did. But the book has to be interesting to me to keep my attention so I will read it through. I cannot read just to say I've been reading. I like to enjoy my time of reading. [Barb42]
that's true, the computer takes most of our time. Thanks for that significsnt comment. [Jenaisle]

When I was younger (pre-kids) I read several novels a week, but now I rarely have time. [kellys3ps]
Yes, the kids now are the priority. don't worry when they'll get older, you'll have more time to read. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

Anyway, with the emergence of modern technologies, i firmly believe that most people are doing life in an easy way, it just a band with you can access anything you know withe used of internet, thus, some are indulge with internet activities, in doing such, our hobbies of reading novels are often neglected, as for me before i do read novels 1 to 2 novel a week depending on the novel i got interested with, as i got a a Harry Potter last series oh my as just finish it in one day since i want to know what happened to the last minute in the life of Harry potter. As i arrived home from work since i do not open my personal mails during my work day at work, i just spent too much time to it, and often i enjoy online game which give me a relax when im playing. Lastly, our internet activities may give us convenient, relaxation or sometimes kill your time of being alone. [kurtjames]
You're right, I too sometimes play wordgames like bookworm and boggle, and many others like you do. Thanks for the vital ipout. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I gave up reading but not for the internet instead I gave it up to focus on school. [ronnilynn]
At least you're focusing on school.good luck and thanks. God bless. [Jenaisle]

I read all the time. I usually read a couple books a day. I can do without the internet, but not without my books. I wish I could do both at the same time. cry [Bd200789]
wow, couple a day is good, keep it up. thanks for the input and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Great question, but unfortunately "no." Most of my reading time comes from typing and responding to discussions on mylot or proofreading my work that I have put together for written reviews or blogs or articles. Usually I'll type up my response and read it at least twice to ensure I haven't made myself to sound illiterate. I am still breaking free from that perfectionist in me. [hdjohnson]
That's the reason why your comments are so impeccable. lol . Thanks for the input and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

I do agree with you. I am not a big blog or internet reader (probably because I work and research on it, so that is enough reading most times), but I know I don't have the time I would like to have to read more books. I really love to read and read quite a lot, but "so many books, so little time" rings true for me! [quinnkl]
Yes, so little time...thanks for that valuable input. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

No way would I give up reading!! I am an avid reader. You give me a good, spine tingling murder mystery (J. Patterson, J. Kellerman, JD Robb, etc) and I will have it read in 2-3 days. I work full time, but I work nights and occasionally have a little down time. I read then. I also read on ANY break I take. Then at home, once I get changed from work clothes, it's coffee and my book time. For at least and hour or two. [juvinurse]
That's good, go go juv. Any break, now I'll have one as I'm going to the doctor..so while waiting, I can read. Thanks for that vital comment. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Before i have a baby,i will spend part of the salary to buy the novels.i like the feeling of reading paperback novels. Now i spend more time sitting in the front of computer.if can ,i hope i can spend more time reading the paperback novel. [Tinna_He]
Let's take the hint of others , let's read in the john.. and while waiting...lol. Thanks for the input. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

Like you, I am also engrossed with the net nowadays. I am online from the moment I wake up till I sleep. But I still make time to read a good book every now and then. Breaking Dawn took me 5 days to finish. [mauieflores]
wow, was that any good? It sounds a good read, Breaking Dawn. Thanks for that important input. [Jenaisle]

I have the same feeling on this. I spend almost all my time on internet. But I want to read books in deed!!! You reminded me, I will be away from my PC for hours and take a book in my hand from tonight!! Happy my lotting! [srainow]
Yes, we do have to read, really , thanks for the input.Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I have time but I spend it on the net so that I can earn in that time and so I hardly read novel these days.. [joystick7]
Yes, I understand as I do the same. Thanks and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Yes, why not? Since I have got a passion for reading, I always manage to spare time for reading novels like while traveling in train, lunch break and holidays, of course. I love reading while traveling the most. When I don't have a novel, I take some technical book on computers or web development. [cybersoft01]
That's good, at least you've got to read too. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

I used to read 2-4 books a day since I didn't work or go anywhere. But once I got Internet and started Mylotting and other sites I have joined I rarely have time to pick up books. I still love reading though. I just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows this morning but it took me 3 days to read it because I was doing other stuff and getting online. I also read romance but haven't had a good book romance book to read in months. [mtdewgurl74]
The second chance is a good romance book, I've read too Harry Potter. Thanks for that vital input. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I use to read 3-4 books a week also. I don't have the time now. But, I love it. I get so into the book it becomes a live screen (like watching a good movie). That's what makes a good book. Bringing your characters to life on the pages you read. When I do have enough down time, what am I doing? Online typing on discussion boards, emails, surveys, games. My favorite books to read are horror. Just like my favorite movies. [MZKUMA]
lol.I haven't read it yet., thanks for the great comment. Thanks and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Oh, yes, I do. Because my school ask us to read a novel in the morning and we have half an hour each day for reading. I think reading a novel is very good, especially for those people who are learning second language, like me. Becuase lots of reading is the best way to expand their vocabulary. [angel16108]
That's good, schools should do that to encourage students to read. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

No I still find time to read and carry a book EVERYWHERE I go, even to the bathroom, that is how serious my reading habit is lol. I try to make time for myself and a good book, it is so easy to get caught up in the fast paced world and have no time to do anything but chores, eat, work and sleep, we can forget what the simple pleasures of life are like. [gtdonna]
Yes, you're right , the bathroom is a nice place to read.lol..cheers. [Jenaisle]

Hi frnds, We can paced the world still we can read novels.By planning we can read daily 2 to 4 hours a day.I like reading novels.I will read daily novels books. I will read one novel book in one week.i will spend on reading also,Reading is my habbit. [23uday]
Good for you. I barely have time to read. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

yes i do read a novel one in a week not because i have no time but because i cud afford to buy a new book always and there's no one near to borrow from..wink well about u thats is cool that u do such a work at a time! [re2809]
Yes, I'm used to it.Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

The priorities and responsibilities towards my family has put the novel reading in the back seat.happy [balasri]
Family is always number one, thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

Yes, I love reading too, and I've got a couple new books that I need to read yet, but since I've been doing my internet activities, I haven't done much reading lately. Usually in the winter months is when I do alot of reading, when its cold outside and I just want to snuggle up and read a good book, well since I'm on the computer all day, I don't do it anymore. I was just thinking that earlier today, I saw one of my new books and I thought to myself, I need to start reading it, but when I get online, I can't get off..lol. [walijo2008]
Lol,like most of us,. The computer rules. Thanks and God bless. [Jenaisle]

Try JOHNNY ANGEL by Danielle steel I cried so much reading this book (but then againg I am pregnant and very hormonal) anyway back to the post. As I said I am pregnant and spend a lot of time relaxing (not by choice I am very sick and suffer from back pain) so I read a lot. Tv is just boring and internet well at 26 weeks its hard to sit for hours and use the net. [violeta_va]
Thanks for suggestion, I'll buy the book later. cheers. [Jenaisle]

It seems like there isn't time to read a novel. I am reading a lot of non-fiction books at the moment, and it is hard to get the time or mindset to finsh them. I have not given up though. [UtopianIdealist]
We are in the same boat. LOl. thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

I know what you mean, I use to read all of the time and very fast, in fact it is one of my favorite hobbies but now I can't even remember the last book that I finished! With working on the computer all of the time I just can't seem to find the time to open a book any more. Danielle Steel is one of my favorite authors by the way! happy [sagesunicorn]
You're not kidding of course. How do you know all these? Then you're a true Steel fan. Thanks for that very useful information. I'll try..lol...do there is no try by master Jedi Yoda. I should do that. Cheers. [Jenaisle]

I read less since I can easily access to the Interent. But I never stop learning. [sweetyethot]
The internet has such great effects in our daily activities., Thanks for the input, cheers. [Jenaisle]

I love reading. I do it before anything else in the morning. I Exercise my brain so I remain mentally healthy and my memory to be sharp even at old age. Besides, I learned a lot while reading even novels. [izathewzia]
That's terrific, a few of those who really got time to read. I guess you don't use the internet much? Thanks for that valuable input. [Jenaisle]

i have always been a reader since i was a kid and even though my work keeps me busy i always try and make time to read a book. i have friday's off and i normally end up going to the bookstore to see what new books are on the shelf (even if i don't buy anything on that visit) on a rainy day ill curl up and read a book, and i like to take my friday's to open up a book i've started reading or finish one! [cndn420]
I see, so you don't usually blog. Thanks and cheers. [Jenaisle]

I am still reading novels, but I am discovering that my reading has declined a bit since I've discovered life online. I'm still reading, but much of my reading occurs online. I must discipline myself better so that I don't spend too much time online. [MonkOVision]
Much the same way as I am. yes discipline is needed. Thanks for that important comment and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Well I have not read a single novel in years. I barely have time to read them. Way back when I was still working with the rescue unit, I read novels from time to time. There are free moments when there are no emergency calls. Now my new works entails training and travel, I have not the time to read anymore. Most especially that I am now going crazy with internet online things.happy [jpso138]
Lol the internet seems to be the favorite hobby so far. Thanks for that input. happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

I wish I can go back to reading books as I used to do when I was younger. But it seems I can't keep my concentration anymore... must be those static giff images I've seen on the net... or maybe, it's just me. [roysville]
LOl...I am that way too, but I have to keep reading as it is a must for me..Thanks for that input.Cheers, and happy mylotting, [Jenaisle]

Hi Jenaisle, I have the same feeling just as you. After I graduate from my university I almsot have no time read book quietly . I have so much thing to do , work , visit friends ,look after the baby , and so on. I have some electronic book in PDF format which I download from the web , but I seldom read them . How I want have more time to read some books that I liked. [cici929]
We could read probably 15-20 minutes at the most, better than one at all. thanks for that input. Cheers. Happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

that is exactly my situation, because i spend more time on internet,so i only read about 3 books per term. [SmilingAngelia]
At least you didn't give up. reading should still be there . Thanks and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Since I bought my first laptop 5 years ago,I donīt read so many books anymore. Itīs a shame to say it,that I some days spend lots of time with my computer. But there are times when I can read 2-3 books every month [Twist_and_shout]
I only write here, write a little for Trion and a little for Ground report. Iīm glad that I can read a little at my part-time work. I think I must begin to read more frequently.Beacuse I have lot of unread books at home. Have a great Sunday [Twist_and_shout]

I make sure that I still have time to read novels. I would seriously go through withdrawl if i don't read a good novel LOL. I mainly read before bed, or on lunch break at work. I love grabbing a good book and taking a nice hot bath. I do do a lot of different things like write my own blog, mylotting write for some sites and work, but I make sure there is at least an hour a day to read a novel. [rmuxagirl]
That's great. You're lucky to have that drive to read. I would like to recommend a light but good read - "Battlefield Earth" . Thanks and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]

Your right about that, no time anymore. I used to read a lot too and a book would only last me about two or three days but now that I am in the internet world, I am too busy working online and earning money. So I have less time to read and a book now lasts me about two weeks. Sad really. I must make more of an effort to read more. It is good for the mind and the eyes. hehe I like just about any kind of book but my favourites are love stories and mysteries. Especially if the mystery book has a love story line in it. [chrislotz]
