Is It Hard To Drag Yourself Off The Pc And Read A Book

I received a book I've been longing to read through the post yesterday and I sincerely want to read it but I'm here on the pc. I can't seem to bring myself to turn it off and read! When I think of logging off I have one more thing to do like checking emails, then there'll be messages from Mylot that I just have to take a look at. Then I see a discussion I'd like to reply to, then I want to start a discussion. The next thing is that I'll leave Mylot and just want to play a few games before I read, then it's back to emails............and on it goes, round and round in a circle. Do you have this problem? I'm going to read that book this afternoon, at least I hope I am! whistle

responses and comments:

Hi! :D I definitely have the same problem. Right now, I'm supposed to read a set of books more than a thousand pages for a licensure exam on November. But it's quite hard to get off the PC because just like you, I check e-mails, myLot, play games, and end up checking all the same things again after playing the games. I also have some books that I would really love to read but are just stocked in the cabinet. It stinks but I can't help it unless I really motivate myself.:P [EnslinPorter]
Lol Round and round in circles we go! [aslanlight]

Well b the time ive done my tasks for the day,and walked the dog, that seems to take care of the morning, then there are always a lot of other little bits that need doing, then I love to sit and Mylot for a while, then there is the tea to get ,and maybe by then I have read the newspaper, but I dont seem to get around to many books lately! [ruby222]
I know what you mean, I broke myself away yesterday in the afternoon to read my book, this discussion helped me to do it and someone said they read at night before bed so I also logged off early and read for a while before I went to sleep. I think we need to wind down before bed and the internet is a stimulant. [aslanlight]

I do not have problem in dragging myself off the PC and read a book. I do check my email everyday and read online news. When I come across a good book I minimise my time with the PC and continue to read my book. It is a matter of time management and discipline. [maryrajam1962]
Good for you! I'm getting off the pc....after a few games! Cringe. No really, I'm going to read in a little while. [aslanlight]

I more often than not read them ON the PC. I've one open at the minute on this one, another halfway through on my PDA. [Wolfechu]
Lol well I can read emails and comments etc because they're not one long piece of writing. I play games inbetween too so there are images to look at etc. My eyes are moving around as oppose to staring intently at very long stretches of words. [aslanlight]

Yeah I have that problem. I can read fast too so the only thing holding me back is my addiction to runescape which was my reason for joining this site in the first place so I could pay for a membership in hte game. [newar18]
My son loves playing runescape, in fact I think he's playing it now! It does look like a great game but I haven't got around to trying it yet. I hope you make enough money to pay for it, you should be able to. [aslanlight]

I do read books and magazines regularly, but I have to make it a ritual these days... Go to the library or take a walk to the nearest park and bring along your book, sit down and read while making mental notes of what Life was like before computers, and then look up from your book every once in while... Completely ignore amy folks that are using their laptops, and look around for people reading books... Kind of acknowlege them and you'll be sort of supporting your good habits, too! :) [peaceful]
Aye avoid the mobile phone brigade too, and dog owners (that's personal), police men (they're just creepy) and politicians (in case you get infected with wanting to take over the world). I have nothing against police men folks, my dad was one, I'm just messing about. If you're a politician you won't care what I think anyway! rasp [aslanlight]

I had this problem, but now I basically get over it. After I had this PC, I was addicted to it. You're right, there are always things to do when you turn the computer on. But from another angle, why not use computer to read. I have read a lot of ebooks up to now. Of course, we cannot use computer for a long time, as it is harmful to our health. But the good thing about reading on computer is that I can gradually get away from the PC and become interested in books. I think you can give it try. Hope it helpful to you. [baddying]
Wow that's interesting anything, I'll log off more often. My son's at his x-box and on the pc as much as he can be and sometimes his eyes are bloodshot but he's a tall 18 yr old so I can't really bully him into using them less. I'll be glad when he's back at college. [aslanlight]

Hi ya 'a' Yep I sure do have this problem and I can't remember the last book I read but then the pc is not the only thing that is stopping me from reading it would be the 3 little humbugs!! lol [Humbug25]
Thanks 'a' it's nice to be back and let me say that, that is a well deserved, new, shiny, blue star you got there!! [Humbug25]

while i like to read, i like to go on mylot and make some extra pennies too. i try to spend several hours on here, reading for me is just for fun mostly. i would rather be making money on mylot! [cher913]
Yes money is an incentive but then reading is so valuable to our minds. [aslanlight]

I definitely have this problem. In fact, I still have not finished the last Harry Potter book because I end up spending time on the PC. And generally I am not a person who puts down a book once I start reading it. I think that the PC is one of the reasons fewer kids like to read as much as kids of prior generations did. If it isn't myLot, it's Sims 2 (another addiction of mine), if it isn't that, then I am looking something up online. One thing after another to distract me from my reading. [deem1977]
Someone else has commented about eye strain, my eye sight's getting worse very fast. [aslanlight]

Well i'm not on the computer that much at all when i'm at home but I do keep very busy at home with the house and yard and kids and supper... as far as reading a book, I just read one of my daughters books the other day called "The Snow Princess" it was a romantic teenage novel and once I started reading I couldn't put it down and ended up sitting there just reading the whole thing from start to finish in 5 hours. I couldn't put it down, it was like I was starved of reading or something :) [moondrop824]
I know what you mean, I turned the pc off earlier today after I started this discussion and read a few chapters of my book. I was reading fast and almost gulping it down! We must need to read. [aslanlight]

Hi aslanlight, I find it difficult to get off the pc to do anything! Ye, I understand the vicious circle of the internet world, Im in it all day every day. But reading I do every day. I tend to keep reading for bedtime, its what helps to make me sleepy. I think its the distraction from what has been spinning round my head all day, I just have to bury myself in some fiction in order to clear all that muddle from my mind. Sometime I am that tired I fall asleep with the book on my face. lol [Ritz100]
Lol Thanks for the great idea, I could turn off the pc an hour earlier each night and wind down by reading. Being online makes me hyper so I'd probably get a more relaxing sleep. Brilliant! lol [aslanlight]

Actually, I am online all day at work. I used to get on in the evenings too. I put a stop to that myself. I only get online on weekends and evening occassionally now. And I love to read. As long as it's something I am interested in that is. I like to just pile up, usually there is a cat on my lap, and let my imagination go into overdrive with a good book. I used to spend a lot of time reading, prior to owning a computer mind you. I could tune everything out around me. I'm more easily distracted now. I'm used to having to stop and snag the phone, order parts, write up a car, make statements while I'm in the midst of something else. In the evenings and weekends are the only time I can really focus on reading, less distractions. Good luck with the reading. [Carolyn63]
Thank you. I have my moments, lol. Sometimes I'm wise, sometimes I'm silly, and other times I can't locate my brain. I'm just me. [Carolyn63]

I have bunch of "e-books"... I download them onto my Memory Card & carry them in my palm pilot... I can take it out & read it whenever I want to... Some books I just read them right out of the computer screen... I usually have my outlook express opened in the back ground... I have it set up to check for emails every 45 minutes... Not only that, my blackberry phone is linked to my email address as well so I don't really have to check it all the time... All I have to do when I realize I have an email is just click over & glance over quick then go back to my reading... [sk66rc]
It sounds as though you have a very good strategy going on there! I can't read large chunks of writing online though so I'll have to keep logging off to read. [aslanlight]

oh yeah i find it hard cause i have a bit of a addiction to the pc i find it hard to get off of it. And when i am off i dont know what to do with my self which is bad. but i made myself a plan on how to spend my time on the computer now though so that i am not on it all the time and i have started making my own crafts ans things so i now have sometihng to do when i am not on the computer now. [wadeys]
Oh that's excellent, what sort of crafts? [aslanlight]

No I don't have that problem. As much as I like being on the computer I also love to read. So I allot a certain amount of time for reading and at that time that is what I do. I have a long time love of reading. [sunshinelady]
I also have a long time love of reading but I let the computer eclipse that, I think it's time to get reading again! [aslanlight]

I am always on Mylot, and I am always doing thing here on my computer, I have a Knitting project that I do, but I haven't worked on in awhile because, I am always here on my computer, I have books I ordered, but I am not into them like I am into my computer. [notlistening2]
You can change that though surely, for your health, mentally and physically? [aslanlight]

Harvest the herb and chill out sweets! LOL Takes a lot less energy to read than it does to mylot! ROFL [sparkofinsanity]
Thanks chia seeds sound great but they're too expensive. I'll keep an eye out in ebay though. [aslanlight]

This sounds exactly like me. I used to read a lot more. Darned internet! lol However I haved tried harder to make time for reading. I am currently reading two books. [rae777]
Two??? I can't do that, sometimes I've had three or four books on the go and I end up not finishing any of them, I have to stick to one a a time really. It's good that you're reading, keep it up! [aslanlight]

I have the same problem too.Getting away from the pc and reading a book is quite a great task. [sumiirajj]
Aye it is but it's worth doing. I notice you're quite new, I recommend three or four sentences at least because you'll get better ratings, happy reading! [aslanlight]

I love to read, but I do it usually at night when I go to bed, where it is quiet and no interruptions. There is nothing not even the computer that can replace a good book. I read Patterson, Woods, mostly. If I have a doctor's appointment or have to go to the doctor with hubby or anyplace that I know there will be a wait I take my book. [bdugas]
You're so right, the computer can never replace books! [aslanlight]

I can really relate to that.. haha.. its like going in circles. Actually since the time we got our own internet connection at home I've been missing to read books.. right now I have five novels that I want to read but computers just keeps alluring me.. I can't stop it. I don't know either if I will be able to read it. [lossforredwords]
Yes you will, I'm the same as you but yesterday this discussion made me get off the pc and read, its was so enjoyable so just force yourself to do it and it'll get easier because you'll remember how great reading is! [aslanlight]

Nah. I'm thankful cause I'm sharing my PC with my wife causing me to be limited. I'm actually reading "The Cost of Discipleship" by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. [jaypeemanuel]
That sounds like an interesting book, I'm sure I've heard of that author but can't place who it is. [aslanlight]

Yes, I am experiencing the same thing now. I've bought a book weeks ago and I'm still on Chapter 13. Haven't turned a page after that one night of reading. I waited for that book to be available again for months, and now that I have it I can't drag myself to read it. I am so hooked with House and my laptop that I can't set them aside just to read.happy [marababe]
I've got a book I've been waiting some time to read and I'm reading it, sod the damn computer, our life times are only a certain length and I want to have read a fair few books by the time I die. [aslanlight]

well, i think so... i am having the same problem too... this PC is really addictive and once i get into the internet, i am hooked... then when i finish, i am too tired to read... so at the end, i am not reading at all... :-( sad, isn't it??? i have to set aside a really special time to read a book now that you remind me... hope you will get to read your book this afternoon... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]
Yes I did read my book yesterday afternoon and again before I went to sleep. It's morning now and I can't wait to pick it up again, I'm going to use the internet in moderation and posting discussions on internet addiction and this one have really helped me! [aslanlight]

Yes, it is hard to drag myself away from the PC. It is so easy to spend hours here without even noticing it. I've got a huge stack of books to read, and if I would just give up the Internet for a week, I could probably get caught up or at least make a little headway on it. I even watch less TV because of the Internet. It's just so all consuming, and one thing leads to another. Books are so important to me. I even spend a lot of time online writing book reviews and reading about books. Still, that's no substitute for the real thing! [AnythngArt]
Oh you must get into reading again, it sounds as though it's a passion of yours so please don't neglect it! I'm doing it I've decided, I read twice yesterday and I'm itching to get back into my book now. lol [aslanlight]

In sense,I share a lot in common. From the bottom of my heart,I made it clear that put myself before the pc did do more harm than good, though pc is the best way to communicate during the hot day. As a student,I can put more time into my study, the truth is told that reading can fulfil the possibility of two things at one time, that is relaxing and learning. Somehow when you stare at PC for more than 1 hours, you'll get tired. Also, the older u get,the more tired you get. So,we shouldn't give up reading, whether you're rich or not, books are our best friends forever. With more books, the many things from the world you'll understand and experience. [Englishprince]
What a fantastic reply and I utterly agree with every word! Are you a Brit like me? [aslanlight]

At home books don't have many chances as the computer is a too strong competitor. So unless the family computer is busy, the baby is sleeping, and there is nothing else to do, then I can read something, which is almost never. If I want to read it must be at work when I have a quiet moment, and there it is mostly newpapers what I read if I find the right ones, otherwise I study something. It is ages I don't read a proper book, of the ones I like. [overwings]
Well this discussion has made me read and I'm remembering what a magical experience it is and empowering when you're reading the right books. I urge you to make room for reading because our lives are short! [aslanlight]

I have this problem too! I find it difficult to put my laptop away once I have turned it on! I spend a lot of time here on mylot as well as on facebook, it's just so addicitve! I do love to read though and I do this at times when I can't be on the computer, for example I read books while I am in the bath, it's one of my favourite ways to relax, or I read in my lunchbreak at work or in bed! I can't read in the livng room where my computer is as it's just too tempting to switch it in and see what all my friends are up to! So you're deifnitely not the only one that has this problem! I hope you enjoy that book when you get round to reading it! Happy mylotting x [Munchkin547]

I must admit, sometimes I have a similar lethargy. It seems almost insulting of the poor book to type on the computer and ignore it sitting there begging to be picked up and read. [DaddyOfTheRose]

it's hard to drag myself off anything and try to read a book these days.i just want to leave mylot and another email comes by "ding".here it comes. [xialinye]
Yes exactly it does drag you in with the emails but we have to be strong and put our health and relaxation first. Hard I know. [aslanlight]

No, im my case it's the exact opposite. If I'm reading something, I have to force myself to get up and do something else. [Bd200789]
Oh good for you, that's exactly what I used to be like before the internet. I woudn't even want to eat when I was absorbed in a good book. [aslanlight]

I feel exactly the same way. I was on vacation last week where I could not get an internet signal. On occasion I was able to go to someone else's home and get a signal... 3 times over the week... just to keep my emails from piling up (especially the spam). So I did more reading in the last week than I have in awhile. But now I should be focusing on my writing. I also like to play a few games as well but that won't happen until I catch up. I still have tons of writing newsletter emails to get through, and am way behind on myLot. I even have newspapers sitting here waiting to be scanned through. Sometimes, though, if I am clicking away on PTR's I can pick up a book and read while I am doing that. I am one heck of a multi-tasker but wish I could read more. [patgalca]
Yeah you sound like a busy person but I hope you can make time for reading. [aslanlight]

I am always telling myself I am going to read a book but I never do. It seems like my days are always busy and now I am trying to get my kids ready for school that once I have free time to myself I want to get some sleep. But I am going to join a book club because I used to love to read. [snoopy04]
Oh brilliant, the hubby's going along too, you must be doing a great job! [aslanlight]

haha~i think this is a common problem around us people who use computer, hehe~~ i always cannot tear myself away from the pc and go to read a book~~compared to books, i have a partial like for pc~~though i know this may not be a wise decision, but i just cannot get through~~ in fact i do the reading only if i am faced with an exam or something or when i dont have a pc at hand, haha~~~ [lijiahui]
I utterly understand, the pc is entertaining and there are lots of different things to do but there's radiation coming off it and it's really not good to be sitting here for so long day after day. [aslanlight]

Hi aslanlight, How can I say this in a nice way. OKAY STEP GET YOUR MOUSE OR USE YOUR FINGER TO SHUT DOWN YOU COMPUTER. CLOSE ALL TABS, DON'T YOU DARE GO LOOK AT YOUR EMAILS, STOP! I WOULDN'T IF I WERE YOU. SHUT DOWN YOU COMPUTER AND ONCE YOU HAVE DONE THIS, YOU WILL GET THAT BOOK AND START READING. DON'T MAKE ME SAY THIS AGAIN. NOW GO, GO ON, NO MORE CLICKING, STOP, GO GO ON. I know the feeling, I haven't pick up a book in a long time. I really enjoy being here. Have a great day. AND AFTER YOU READ THIS TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER. [kaleegirl45]
Oh okay, I like sci-fi and Stephen king, John Saul and V.C. ANDREWS. [kaleegirl45]

Honestly, I think it depends on the book lol. I've got tons of books on my bookshelf that I want to read and I usually pick one and read a little before I go to sleep. But if its something I've been wanting/dying to read then I have no problem with it. Example, I've been waiting for "Breaking Dawn" by Stephine Meyer to be released and delivered to my house. I got it this week and have been reading in the afternoons for a few hours take a break and then right back to the book because I really love this saga lol. [musiclover505]
lol yes it is :D I actually just finished it today and now I'm sad because its over lol...still want more, but it was a perfect ending to the saga =) [musiclover505]

Hi aslanlight, I do spend a lot more time on the Internet, than I do reading, but I still take a certain amout of time to read. Blessing [Pose123]
Good for you, I think it's very important to get off the pc and read, or do something else. [aslanlight]

I do have a hard time these days finding time to read a book but that is only because I work on the PC all day long every day and I find it hard to get away from work. Every time I think I am caught up pretty well and can close down for the day something else pops up that I need to do and usually I work from early morning until well into the night. But if I didn't work on the computer I would definitely turn it off and go read a book. I don't play any games on the computer so that would definitely not stop me. [sagesunicorn]
Yes, I'm afraid so. Too bad I can't figure a way out of it at the moment! [sagesunicorn]

the PC is additive but then so are books, any escape you can name is that. But in today's stressed world who can fault you for a little escape. And the choice between the book or the pc well who is going to judge you. Is there a secret pc or book guard that's is going to shake his finger at you. If so I know which finger. So laugh and do both, I often read three or four books at a time. Of course that was before mylot LOL [savypat]
The pc is physically bad for us, it emits radiation, hurts our eyes and has us sitting in the same position for hours and hours on end. It raises our stress levels, the screen is bright, it's not comfortable and relaxing in the way that reading a book is. The pc makes my hyper, reading chills me out. [aslanlight]

just turn the pc off!we always have too many excuses for ourselves.if you really want to do some reading, just do the things that really important and then forget all about it.now some people just turn off all the digital stuffs like pc and telephone. try it!don't worry if you don't do something and the world will stop circling. [giantpada]
Yes I've been doing that, the trouble is I have very little money and am trying to earn some online doing surveys, writing articles, other things and here. I have to constantly check my emails for the surveys and when I log off I'm conscious that I might be missing one. It's rare that I qualify for them so I have to try as many as I can. [aslanlight]

I had a hard time to read a book rather than be on the pc. It was easy for me to get off the pc to do the housework, to practice singing, because I could do that while taking a walk and that got me out of the house and away from the computer. However with a book, I would also be sitting down the same as I do in front of a computer. So what I did was decided well I did not need to read the whole book, why not a chapter at a time, so after I read my Bible, and while I was cleaning out the cache, I would sit down at the dining table and read one chapter, have breakfast, and get on the computer again. [suspenseful]
I don't know what they're like because I've never seen them but I hope you can find some! happy [aslanlight]

very good word you used --drag ! for me, it is painful to drag myself off the pc and get to read though i love reading, and right now, i have dozens of article to finish. guess i have to burn the midnight oil again. ! but i just can't help it not to login in mylot. [gabbana]
If mylot didn't send emails I'd probably forget it's here but there are always emails there and once we're here I suppose it's hard to get out because just one more reply or discussion only takes a minute. [aslanlight]

I go through stages. There are times that I will read 5 - 10 books in a row, and then there are times that I won't read a book for months and I will spend that time on the computer. My reading sprees depend on a few things - the main being whether or not I have good books to read. When I finish reading a really good book, I get very disappointed that it's over and I need to find a book that is just as good. I am the kind of person that will abandon a book in the middle if it's not good according to my standards. Sometimes I will find an author that I really like and I will read a bunch of their books in a row (as long as they are not all very similar) until I start getting bored. But once I stop my spree, it is hard to start up again, because I only want to read good books and I get worried that if I start a book it won't live up to my expectations, so i won't start any in the first place. lol [reshadar]
Thanks so much - fantasy and science fiction are not genres that I have ever gotten interested in, but my mother and my son's father love them, so I forwarded it to them :-) Thanks again! [reshadar]

No, I always find paper a lot better than a high frequency electronic screen - I also think a lot of people feel the same. I remember when e-books were going to completly wipe out paper books, but it has still not happened and I don't think it will until computers become a lot more portable. [TheAuditor]
I don't think they'll ever replace paper books because there's something about being curled up with a good book that can't be beaten! [aslanlight]

I usually have this problem but a friend lent me a book the other day called "Chariots of the Gods?" and I can't put it down! I'm really sorry but I'm too tired to explain the book at the minute - it's past 1am and I need to get to bed yawn It's a fantastic book though. I've read half of it already in two days. I went to pub on my own yesterday and sat there reading it for four hours. I love it! I really would reccommend it if you're into reading about the history of our planet and the universe in conjunction with religion (quite a specific topic, I know lol). I puts some really interesting views across and every sentence makes you think [louise99]
No, I mean I didn't even post it! I wrote the reply (without posting it), then went to make some coffee, then noticed when I came back that I'd spelled some things wrong so I deleted the whole thing and rewrote it, then I posted it. But the first one had somehow posted itself! glareblink [louise99]

Hello aslanlight, well I am replying to your discussion a few days later, so you can tell me now, if you did start reading the book... I will say though that using the pc is convenient and makes us quite lazy, if that is the right word to use. I do not read novels very often, but I am often happy after I have read them and I find that my head is then full of new thoughts and ideas. I also think that by reading a book you are doing only only yourself a favour, but you can make a better contribution to MyLot or to discussions with your friends, using your newly acquired ideas. Have a good weekend. Umart [umart13]
Hi aslanlight, yes I wish that more MyLot users would also read a bit more. Imagine the collective knowledge that would or could be produced. It would be much better having informed discussions than writing about what I eat for breakfast. Have a great weekend and happy reading! Umart [umart13]

Hi my friend. Have a nice weekend. It depends. If i am bored sit in front of the computer then i will switch it off and go to study. But if i am playing games then surely it is hard to get myself off to read books. If examination soon then i wont have the mood to sit on front of the computer. Lol. Happy myloting!!! [lchiat]
Hi. Lol. Thanx. I must control myself if not surely will get bad result for the examination. Lol. [lchiat]

Hi OK somewimes the computer has the bigger lure than the book, because it is an interactive tool, and the book is a realxation tool for me.If I am feeling adventurous then the internet is a good plce to be,but if I fell like relaxing then the book option is the one for me,but I have no problems in logging off and moving on [LOULOU323]
I know exactly what you mean, I get hyperactive on the computer but when I read I wind down so much I often put the book down and fall asleep. We need a good balance of both I think. [aslanlight]

Not really, I just shut off the PC and go outside to the park or somewhere on the porch/veranda and read. [gtdonna]

Ah, two of my favorite things. Books and the computer. I usually have no problem choosing between the two. The computer is always on and I come back to it over and over during the day. And a book is always open, somewhere in the house, so it's a small thing to pick it up and continue where I left off. I usually have more than one book going at a time, in different parts of the house, to suit different moods. I, too, am doing surveys and whatever else I can find to make a few dollars so the computer is never left alone for long. I spend a lot of time online late at night and that works out well since I suffer greatly from insomnia. I always spend time reading before I go to sleep, no matter what time it may be. It is relaxing and a great way to unwind and let the world slip away so I can sleep. I find that if I'm lucky enough to be into a really good book I will read it until I come to the end. Let the internet and the rest of the world wait... they will still be there when I return. [justpeachie]
You have an excellent life-style. I've been reading more since I started this post, I've been really encouraged and you've just encouraged me even more! Thanks! [aslanlight]

Hello aslanlight. In the past, I've had trouble spending too much time on the computer and not enough time doing other things I enjoy. I have remedied this recently by either setting goals for number of responses I want to do in a day or by the amount of time I want to spend on myLot in a day. This way, I feel fine about stopping, if I reached my goal. Plus, it's so nice to get back to reading again. Plus, reading more books give me more subjects to discuss on myLot. Hope you set a limit for your computer time and stick to it. There is so much to do in life and it's nice to have the time to do it. [PearlGrace]

I was a voracious reader but from last year or so i have been literally wasting much of my time on net wheather it is in chatting or checking mail. I have certainly reduced reading since i have been on the web [lalchetian]
Yes me too but since I posted this discussion I've read a book! It's given me the push I needed to log off more. [aslanlight]

Not at all. I still prefer reading a book on paper than to read an ebook. Likewise, I prefer reading news on the newspaper or magazines than to read it online. I find it more tiring for my eyes to read things online than on paper. However, it's hard for me to leave the PC while I am in the middle of watching anime. rasp [poohgal]
Remember to rest your eyes (closing it or look at far objects) at least once every hour. happy [poohgal]

So now that 4 months have passed since you posted this discussion, did you ever finish that book? I used to read a lot but lately I am on the computer so much I don't have the time to read anymore. I have to stop working the computer so much and get back to my reading. I used to read at least one book a week and sometimes two. I used to read a lot in bed and in the bathtub while having a bubble bath. But now I don't have a bathtub, only a shower, so I don't get to have a bubble bath anymore which in turn means I am not reading as much. I now have a TV in my bedroom so now I watch TV instead of reading. Not a good thing, I need to start reading again, but I get so involved with mylot and the ptr sites I work on that I have no time to read anymore. Alrighty then, talk to you later, Your friend, Chris [chrislotz]
When you read in the bath didn't you ever drop the book in the water? I would! lol This discussion actually got me reading a lot more and I finished my book, the next one and am on the second triligy. Talking about it here really motivated me to do it and I find I'm a lot happier and more relaxed when I read, it gives me a feeling of well being and gives me food for though. I do hope you get back to your reading because the TV and computer are fun and are entertaining but there's nothing like reading! [aslanlight]

lol..my problem is the opposite. I love to read so much and it's hard to get me away from the book...and usually it's the pc which takes a backseat when I have a book to read:) [SViswan]
