Just Cant Put It Down

What was the last book you read that you just couldn't put down? That you either read in one sitting or put it down because you had to but then finished it as soon as you could the next time you grabbed it? I'm asking because I haven't had that happen to me in so long. I want to read a book so good that I just let all things go while I'm lost in my book. What was it about your book that kept you gripped? Do you like books that keep you turning pages or would you prefer to take a little while to finish a book?

Oh man! I'm glad i saw this discussion! I want to help you find good books to read! Because there are a few books that I couldn't put down; in fact they are the books I have in my "to read again" stash! lol. One book is My Brother Sam Is Dead by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier. I've already read this book twice and I'm still saving it, just in case. It basically tells the story of a family during the Revolutionary War who have to cope when the oldest son goes to war and leaves the parents and younger brother on their farm/tavern. Another book is Crazy for You by Jennifer Cruise. This book was really fun for me, and I loved all the characters! It tells the story of a woman who realizes she's been living a pretty dull life (perfect boyfriend, perfect job, perfect house) and she wants out. She breaks off with her boyfriend and moves out to start working on a new life, but Mr. Ex doesn't want to lose her... Yet another book is The Contest by Matthew Reilly. I finished this book in 2 days, this is one i LITERALLY could not put down. It is 448 pages of pure...everything! lol. It tells the story of a man and his daughter who are "brought" to a large library, where they have been unwillingly entered into "The Contest." This book has a HUGE plot shocker that you find out about pretty quickly. I won't give it away here! :) Last but not least, Riptide, by Catherine Coultir. Another really fun book about a woman being stalked. She moves to her home town to try and out run the man, because people are getting hurt where she had been living. I really loved the characters and action in this book! I coud give you a WHOLE bunch of other recommendations to good books if you'd like...but I figured this was good to start you off! :D [LilyoftheThorns]
My Brother Sam Is Dead defeniatly won't disappoint! It's really well written, and it kept my attention :) I'm glad my recommendations for you might work! :D If I can get another list of titles together I'll defeniatly let you know! Enjoy! [LilyoftheThorns]

I'm working on the Harry Potter series (I got a really late start) and they are holding my attention pretty good. I want to finish this one to get to the next one but the only one so far that's kept me totally riveted was the Prisoner of Azkaban (which makes sense since it's been my favorite of the movies up to this point). Before that it was the Dresden Files. There are ten books so far and since I hate hard cover books (they're big and clumsy and hard to stretch out on the couch with...they're okay for text books but not pleasure reading) I have to wait until March to read the tenth and it's kind of making me crazy. All nine of the ones I've read, I've finished in between 3-5 hours, collectively because I sit at Starbucks for about a half an hour each week and read. [crimsonladybug]
I am finding there are actually a lot of similarities between the Harrys. Potter has the Ministry of Magic, Dresden has the White Council, both are orphans with deep sordid mysteries surrounding how their parents died. They even both have a werewolf to protect them LOL. I actually joked with a friend that Dresden could be Potter's future identity, when he grows up and gets out of Hogwarts. And most of the similarities are completely coincidental - Jim Butcher had been working on the Dresden story line for quite some time, months at least, if not a couple of years, before Harry Potter hit the public. [crimsonladybug]

The last book or series of books I read and could not "literally" put down is the Twilight (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn) series by Stephenie Meyer. Its not suspense, but an unusual romance between a vampire and human. A vampire novel without the fangs, gore and bloodsucking. I like the writing style of Ms. Meyer where you can literally relate to the feelings and sensitivities experienced by one of the main characters - Bella. Reading the book made me relive the nice giddy feelings of first love, and falling in love. I finished the four books last month, I think in a span of one and a half weeks because I had my work. I admit to feeling sad and empty after reading the fourth book. The fifth Twilight book "Midnight Sun" is still halfway through being written by Ms. Meyer. It is written from the perspective of the male main character, the dashing and dazzling vampire - Edward. I can't wait to get hold of that book. The first Twilight is made into a movie and I hope the movie brings justice to the novel. I am reading the Twilight book for the second time, before I watch the movie. Another book I remember not being able to put down is the seventh of the Harry Potter series - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. J.K. Rowling did not disappoint Potter fans with this superbly written book. I finished this book in one sitting. I did not read awhile after finishing this last book installment. I felt something died inside me, knowing there are no more Harry Potter adventures to look forward to. sigh [sunbeams]
Hi, sunbeams. Welcome to myLot. Thank you for doing a nice job describing the Stehpenie Meyer series. I have wanted to check these out books because of all the hype they are getting. But I'm not much into fangs, gore and bloodsucking... thanks for letting me know it is different. It sounds quite sweet actually. I'm like you in that I get sad and feel kind of empty when I get to the end of books I have been enjoying. We are just passionate readers. I'm sure that is a good thing. happy [makingpots]

Hey pots! I love to read books that keep me so gripped that I don't want to put it down! In fact, I was reading one just like that! It is called "Sleight of Hand". But, unfortunately I did put it down and haven't picked it up for quite awhile. It is a great book, a murder mystery which is my favorite kind! I had gotten really into it and was reading it every day. But, I tend to be a slow reader and I went into the hospital and when I came out I just didn't pick it up again and now months have passed and I started mylotting and never picked it up again. I know once I start to read it again I will get back into it because it really is a great book, but I just don't seem to be able to find the time. [Opal26]
Hi, Opal26. I can relate to not being able to find the time. MyLot is a big contributor to this problem for me. lol [makingpots]

Yes, I had this one book recently that I was so engrossed with. I kept a collection of Sweet Valley High and Sweet Valley University since high school days and if I feel like reading, I just browse them over again although there's no mystery anymore because I already know how the story will end. One night, I was yearning to read something new but it was already midnight to give a friend a call and borrow something so I decided to go through my pocketbooks that were long kept in a box and was hidden up in the upper cabinets. And I found this novel pertaining to the true life story of an American serial murderer. The first chapter kept me up the entire night and when I did put it down to sleep, I was imagining every details in my mind that brought shiver down my spine. I couldn't believe they all happened! And when I'm too engrossed about something, I just put it down to eat my meals and then resume it right away. [dianavarro]
Hi, dianavarro. I remember when I taught 4th grade, the girls in my class loved that Sweet Valley High series. Hee, at least you stop reading to let yourself eat. lol [makingpots]

Since I read a lot of books that are really good , it's kinda hard to say which is the best but one stands out above the rest, "The Appeal" written by John Grisham The reason it was so good was it really does show how politics works. It was about an unknown lawyer that got caught up in becoming an appeal judge. He was manipulated and put in this position so the other lawyers and judges could control him.It was exactly what was going on at the time with Obama, he too was bought to fulfill a position where he can be controlled. Then there are the Dean Koontz books about Odd. These are great page turners. But then all his books are hard to put down. I also like the books by V.C. Andrews even those written by someone else but under her name. Happy reading [Kowgirl]
Hi, Kowgirl. I used to really like John Grisham books. But I haven't read one in a long time. The Appeal sounds like a good one to get when I pick his books back up. My sister devours everything V.C.Andrews! Thanks for the suggestions. Happy reading to you too. [makingpots]

It was hard for me to put down all of these. Tales From Margaritaville Where is Joe Merchant? A Salty Piece of Land A Pirate Looks at Fifty Easy to read, hard to put down. [parrotheadJim]
Hi, parrotheadJim. Welcome to myLot. I have read all but one of those books. Fun reads. [makingpots]

I had just finished a book, that kept me up the whole of last night (luckily it was Saturday). A Dark Adapted Eye , by Barbara Vine (Ruth Rendell) - this is a psychological thriller about a woman who murdered the sister that she had adored and idolised. A very gripping story - I can't even let go of it to sleep! [lazeebee]
It sounds very gripping. Thanks. I haven't read a psychological thriller in a long time. [makingpots]

The title of the book "No time to say goodbye" was a really good book that I read a few weeks ago. It is about a story of a fourteen year old girl that wakes up and could not find her mother and her brother and father. She grows up and wants to discover what happened to them. [ronaldinu]
Thanks, ronaldinu. [makingpots]

I checked out a romance from the library. it was an sf romance, but it was kindda fun and the fellow... now, he sounded yummy.. he was a cat alien with extra gifts.... [ElicBxn]
Well, as they've learned that historical romances were good, and then suspence, now they do sf ones... don't think I could write one, just not too romantic. [ElicBxn]

Please do not laugh at me. My question is: does the Bible count as a Book on your list? You see once I got past Deuteronomy and started on Judges I could simply not put it down until I got to Job. It was fascinating and rolled along like any of the books you have mentioned here. It was full of romance, murder, action, suspense, drama, and all of the other things that any good book has. So does it count? BTW I have finished the whole thing a couple of times and there is even some pretty steamy love scenes in there. [cathyisgodschild]
The section I was referring to reads very much like any other book except maybe the part of 1 & 2 Chronicles. Just start and you will soon find yourself lost in the world of Bible times. Before you begin pray God would give you understanding and enthusiasm for your reading. In no time you will have read much of the Old Testament which will give you courage and background information for your reading and study of the rest of the Bible. Much Love to you as you begin your journey through the greatest Book ever written. If you have questions just ask. PM me if you want or go to http://godschild.today.com Post your questions there if you like. [cathyisgodschild]

I devour pretty much any book I start reading. If I am not myLotting, I am reading something. Right now I'm reading an old Perry Mason book between posts; I post for about 10-15 minutes and then read for about the same amount, check my emails and then post some more, so on and so forth. [myklj999]
I used to devour any book I started too, before having a child. Then myLot came into my life and my reading has been all downhill from there. I wish I had a routine like you. [makingpots]

i love one i can't put down but mylotting is interfering w/my reading. i'm reading a fern michaels book right now . it is one of a series & they are all good. it's called hise & seek. [ANTIQUELADY]
Yes, yes myLot interferes with my reading too. Can you believe I have never read a Fern Michaels book? [makingpots]

Most of the books I've read have been like that. Many books I can finish in a day if I have enough time to read it. I have been known to stay up all hours of the night working on a book. The only book that took me longer than 2 or 3 days to read was one of the Harry Potter books. We went to Hershey Park for a weekend and I was in the middle of the book when we left. I thought I'd have some time to finish it, but I wasn't even able to read 1 chapter while we were gone. [katsmeow1213]
Hi, katsmeow. Oh, I hate when I look forward to a get away for all the reading time I should get out of it, and then it doesn't happen. Hee, I've been known to stay up all hours of the night working on a book too. [makingpots]

My favorite author is Mary Higgins Clark, so any of her books are hard to put down. I also like Dan Brown, James Patterson and several other authors who write mysteries and espionage. I am also a big fan of books about the supernatural, biographies and auto-biographies. I cannot say which books were hard for me to put down because, if a book grabs me after the first chapter, I will only put it down if I cannot keep my eyes open or have to do something else. [nanajanet]
I love being so into a book that I read and read until I cannot keep my eyes open any longer.... more often I have to stop because I have something else to do. [makingpots]

The last book I read that I really enjoyed and couldn't put down was "What Do You Do All Day?" by Amy Scheibe. It's a really good book about a stay at home mom. I've since been waiting patiently for this author to write another book. I have a hard time finding a book that really captures my attention lately. [Shar19]
Isn't that fun, to be so into a book that you just can't wait for the author to put out another one. Hee, there are some authors (tend to be the ones I like) who will go years and years between books. [makingpots]

The last book was "The boy in Striped Pyjamas" by Irish writer John Boyne. It's about an unlikely friendship between a Polish Jewish boy in Auschwitz and the Camp Commandant's son. A very simple book, but quite powerful too. My all time favourite book is The Wind in the Willows. I will read that sometimes and go straight back to the beginning once I have finished it! [p1kef1sh]
I LOVED, loved, loved "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas", p1ke. I thought the authors clever use of literary devices was one of the best elements of the story. (OutWith, Fury) And so respectful of him to use the naivitee' as a way to tell a difficult and over told tale. We all know how this story ends, yet I was gripped right to the end. A friend accused me of being so gripped, hoping for a happy ending. I knew better. [makingpots]

Hi I just adore reading ! The last book I could not put down was the notebook and this was before the movie even came out . One morning when my fiance left for work I started reading the book and never put it down . Read most of the morning ! There are some books that are so good I get them done with in a couple days . I really lately have enjoyed Nora Roberts books . [metschica25]
Hi, metschica25. I adore reading as well. I've heard others say that about the notebook. I long for a morning like you describe here. It has been too long for me. [makingpots]

For me it is a book that I am reading in English Class called "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. It is a very interesting memoir and the only reason I have to put it down is because I would get in trouble if I read ahead and I have other homework to do. I love books that make myself want to keep reading. The reason I really like The Glass Castle was because it is just a very interesting story and gives you a new perspective on life in my opinion. [Purtle]
Another responder mentioned "The Glass Castle". I think I may need to check that one out. Thanks, Purtle. [makingpots]

That would definitely have to be the Harry Potter books! I just loved reading those and I found it very difficult to lay each book aside! I kept on turning the pages and I forgot everything that was happening around me. I guess you can become a school kid once more when you turn to the Harry Potter books! You can also escape into the world of magic and high adventure! I love a good book that takes me on a long jouney! Anyway, I've yet to find a book that matches Harry Potter! Andrew [AndrewFreyne]
Hi, Andrew. Many people feel the same way about the Harry Pooter books. So well written. O love a good book that take me on a long journey as well. [makingpots]

The last book I read that I could not put down was The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls. It's a really good book and you should definitely check it out. I think you would love it. happy [steflane]
That is the second time The Glass Castle has been listed. It has officially just risen to the top of my to-read list. I might pick it up for my thanksgiving holiday read. Thanks, Stef. [makingpots]

I would have to say Twilight. It is just so good. I like the fact that it was about something out of this world and non existant. I did go see the movie and i had to say I did not like it as much. It was a very teeny bopper book, but its ok because im just a kid at heart anyways. [jessicapark7435]
I understand. Sometimes I decide I want to read something very out of this world. I want to not be able to relate to anything, once in a while. [makingpots]

My problem alas is I have a bad tendency to fall asleep now whenever I try to do some serious reading...(or am I being an idiot..LOL). I often read while stretched out in bed before going to sleep...often my one cat Pyewacket must think reading is boring and sits on my book, so then heaven forbid I disturb him. The very last book though that I did read practically non-stop was The DaVinci Code..must have read that book in record time..only two nights...don't ask what time I went to bed reading it. [pyewacket]
That's what happens to me...I fall asleep for a bit while reading and then wake up with my face crammed on top of the book...LOL [pyewacket]

If I could have my way, I would like to be able to finish a book in one sitting. But because my time does not allow me to, I try to finish a book as soon as I can. Sad to say, I am not much of a bookworm as I was before I got married. Back then, I already have a list of books that I plan to read after I finish the one I am reading. Sometimes, I stay up late at night because I just couldn't stop reading and my mind won't let me sleep anyway. I read all sorts of books, novels, self-help books (though these ones you have to read more slowly in order to digest the content) and business books. [silverglint]
If I had my way I would finish all books in one sitting too, silverglint. [makingpots]

while at work, I came across a copy of "Memories of Midnight" by Sidney Sheldon. man, I read this book a long time ago and just wnated to read it again the next thing I know I finished the whole book and my entire shift was over. I however don't like to read books all the way through. I would like to comeback to it from time to time til I finish it. [anaknitatay]
How great to be able to read while you work. Green with envy! I know many people who feel that way about savoring a book over time. [makingpots]

As far as I can remember the last book that I couldn't put down was a romance novel book. My mom even scolded me because I'm reading it until the morning the next day because the story was very beautiful and very touching. Godspeed... [Llonorra22]
me too many times!!! We had the same experience ..lol Happy posting! Godspeed... [Llonorra22]

Hi dear i like readinghappy and whenever i start my book, i like and want to read it in one sotting or with out break so i can enjoy the fluency of it, unless it has chapters in it. And sure when i am reading i am Lost in it and some times feel in same situation.wink But now life us getting busiers and toughr , so its hard to get thsat much time, but still i try and loook for ithappy Take care [cupid74]
Yeah u r right i try to do the same [cupid74]

most recently, the 'Twilight' because it is my last acquisition, i've been waiting for my copy for a while and i finish the book in two sittings... anyway, i'm already re-reading it since i don't have book 2 yet... but actually, that's how i read stuffs, i read it as long as i can i don't have much in my collection that will bore me... [Mathurin]
Peope love the Twilight books. I need to read one, I think. [makingpots]

it has been a long time since I found a book like that. However; if I read more than an hour at a time my eyes start to burn. I always look for any mystery books and if I find one I really liked I look for another book by the same author to read.blinkrolleyes [muscles4me]
I has been a long time for me too, muscles4me. I anxious for another one soon. [makingpots]

Memoirs of a Geisha, a great book. Lame movie but incredible book! I just had to read it on and on. Also, David Copperfield is another great book that kept me reading on and on. I remember I used to sleep 3-4 hours a night because of that book. :D [lilisor]
Memoirs of a Geisha was a real page turner for me too. I haven't read David Copperfield. I have been meaning to. [makingpots]

Beach Girls by Luanne Rice. I got so lost in the characters and in Rice's vivid descriptions of beach life on the New England coast that I couldn't put the book down. I spent summers at the beach when I was growing up so this book had a lot of meaning to me. I love books that I can get lost in but then I'm disappointed when I'm done because I want the experience to continue. [LaurenInLA]
I bet I would like Beach Girls a lot. I don't know how I missed it. I have the same disappointment experience when I am done with books I have really gotten into. [makingpots]

I read the Twilight Series and flew through those books...well until I got to #4, it wasn't as good as the others. [sedel1027]
I'm hearing a lot about that series. Really must check it out. [makingpots]

If I have to make a list, it would be pretty long. Since I read about 2-4 books in a week, I usually have plenty of books that keep me gripped and pushed me to keep reading even if its way past midnight and I have to work the next day. I guess I could share the latest one that has captured my full attention, making me spend most of my day off reading instead of doing my chores. That would be Into the Storm by Suzanne Brockmann, Book 10 in this Troubleshooters/Seal Team 16 series. I just enjoy the way she writes, andshe captures males POV. Caught myself laughing quite hard in some parts, and the tension was gripping. It's a suspense/thriller romance novel. It was a great read. [wayz12]
I am absolutely green with envy that you read 2-4 books in a week. I do good to read 2 in a month. [makingpots]

I can think of three books that have affected me like that. Bear in mind that I generally read a book in a day or at most two days, so to find a real page-turner is brilliant. I'll read anything, too, so I go through some real crap! The three books: firstly, Imajica (Clive Barker). I remember sitting up in bed at 3am with this one telling myself that "one more chapter won't hurt" and with my alarm set for 6:30am for work... Secondly, Whiteout (Ken Follett). Totally not my normal genre, but very, very well written and a really gripping story. Stolen viral agents, betrayals, annoying reporters, it has everything - even a cute puppy. Finally and most brilliantly, Lord Demon (Roger Zelazny & Jane Lindskold). Zelazny is, by far, my favourite author. I own every book he's written, except one. Lord Demon is wonderful: humorous, intriguing, beautiful and a stonker of an adventure. [SpikeTheLobster]
I am green with envy of anyone who can read a book in one day, SpikeTheLobster. Thanks for sharing these three books with me. I like know the favorite author of anyone who reads as much as you. [makingpots]

There have been two books lately that I have been unable to put down. They are both by the same author. One is called My Sister's Keeper and the other is called Nineteen Minutes. Both of these books are kind of long, but so very good. They also both have endings that you would never expect. [cortney09]
My dad sent me both of those books and he said he has read pretty much all of her books. The book Nineteen minutes does not end how I expected it two, but according to my dad, that's how her books are. [cortney09]

I haven't read any books in a good while but, the last book I read was really good. It was called Sleeping With The Crawfish, I can't remember the authors name and I loaned it to my mother, sorry but, it was an awesome murder mystery. In this book it's the person you least wxpect, I thought I had figured out who the killer was but, I was so wrong!!!! [Ina926]
Thanks, Ina926. I haven't read a murder myster in some time now. The one you mention sparks my interest just because it has crawfish in the title. happy [makingpots]

it happened while i was reading lord of the rings for the fifth time....i knew everything abt it and almost knew it line to line cover to cover but still i could not put it down.... [karthiksank642]
Now see, I want to find that book which will make me want to read it five times..... and especially the one that will still be a page turner the fifth time around! [makingpots]

Wild at Heart by John Eldridge, its for guys to discover the warrior in them, you know the one that was lost and is still in there, its a great book. [gitfiddleplayer]
Sounds like a good one, gitfiddleplayer. [makingpots]

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett was an incredible read. This book was hard to put down. I didn't read it in one sitting as there were about 1,000 pages to this book. [ElusiveButterfly]
I know others who felt that way about The Pillars of the Earth. I kind of like to savor my books as well. [makingpots]

Stone Cold by David Baldacci. Most Baldacci books are hard to put down for me, but then I like a good detective/mystery story. I think my favorite by Baldacci is "The Winner". [silvatungfox]
It is great to have an author you feel that way about. [makingpots]

I have read many books in my lifetime but there is only one book that gripped me so i couldn`t put it down until i finished it. I first read it in 1968 and then subsequently read it more than half a dozen times and it still had the same effect on me. This book is available all over the world and has been translated in all the languages of the world. This book is a standard textbook for students of philosophy and religion in Americam Universities. The author is of Indian origin but went to America in 1920 and stayed there permanently until his sudden demise in 1952 at the age of 59. His body was kept with the undertakers for twenty days without showing any signs of decay which was acknowledged by them as something unparalled.Even after this period the body was warm to the touch and the skin was smooth and unbroken. It looked as though he was sleeping and not dead. Finally the body was interred in the prestigious Forest Lawns cemetry in a vault where it lies till today. I am referring to that great yogi Paramahamsa Yogananda ,founder of the world wide Self Realisation Fellowship organisation, and author of the well known book and best seller written in 1946 " Autobiography of a Yogi ". I recommend everyone and to whichever religion he or she belongs to read this most fascinating book and they will never regret it, this much i can say. After reading this book the lives of millions of people worldwide have changed for the better. [veejay19]
I am familiar with the book and have read portions of it myself. Thank you for the additional info about the author. Fascinating. [makingpots]

I think I can honestly say 'A Thousand Splendid Sons' by Khaleed Hooseni is a beautiful book of a small girl in Afghanistan married to a man old enough to be her father and all the sufferings. Its a must read book for it shows life in its real form in strict Muslim countries. It tears your heartstings and you dont want to stop reading it. Another of his book is the Kite Runner. I also enjoyed Prissoner of Birth by John Grisham, Loves to dance, loves to sing by Mary Higgens Clark and so many more. But do read the first one wi thout fail. This guy is amazing. [ketybhagat]
I will read it for sure! I read The Kite Runner and loved it!! Can't believe I haven't gotten around to reading A Thousand Splendid Sons. He is an amazing author. [makingpots]

I have just finished reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. It is so suspenseful that i hate putting it down to stop reading and do my chores at home. But i also don't want to finish it soon because i want to really remember every single detail of the story. Finding who the killer was got me turning on the page continuously and i was so intrigued by the Illuminati. But when i realized that i am about to finish it, i stopped so that i could still enjoy reading it for a couple more days. [sweetie1026]
I am the say way when reading books I enjoy. I want to savor it for a few days. [makingpots]

I have finished " NO Time for Goodbye" It is a book about a fourteen year old girl who wakes up to find out that her family has evaporated in thin air. Fifteen years later she tries to search what has really happened on that night that stole her family away. [ronaldinu]
Sounds like a good one, ronaldinu. [makingpots]

A book about two mice getting together and making house etc. Its a book I brought for my daughter for christmas, I'm going to read it to her, but it looked so good that I couldn't wait until christmas so i started to read it and I just couldn't put it down until I read all of it. It is a chapter book so it took me quite a while, I hadn't finished it by the time she came home from school so I had to hide it and wait until she had gone to bed to finish it.... it was a very long wait [Anne18]
I can relate to that, I bet it was a very long wait. Lol [makingpots]

Its been a number of years since I've had a book like that. I was in junior high, and my grandmother had gotten a three book set of Terry McMillan's. I had already read the other two, Waiting to Exhale and Mama, the week before, so I decided to start the last one, Disappearing Acts. That book was so good I read it in one night! This was no short book either, almost as long as Atlas Shrugged by Ann Ryand (1081 pages) I stayed up to the wee hours of the morning reading the book, because I just couldn't put it down to go to sleep. That being said, I prefer books that allow me to put them down. Seems like when I do get a really good book that I can't put down, I can't do anything else until I finish it!!! I have things to do! [drknlvly6781]
I know what you mean. I like for a book to allow me to sit it down. I like to savor books over a few days. [makingpots]

I haven't had a book like that in quite some time, makingpots. For a real page turner, I am a fan of Greg Iles. A couple of weeks ago I read his book, Third Degree. I read it quickly, not so much because it was good as it is just so easy to read. I like to take the time to read a book in one sitting, yet I also get upset with myself for doing so because I like to look forward to a book, and once I finish it, it's gone. [Transdisc]
I am familiar with Greg Iles, he is a Mississippian. Friends of mine from college know him well. I can relate, I like to look forward to a book! I actually like the emotion of missing it when it is gone. I like to let it ruminate and enjoy the book again...... I'm odd. [makingpots]

There have been quite a few unputdownable books. But I will recount only the recent ones: Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. In fact I should call it as an unshutdownable book, for it was in the Ebook format; the other one was Allen and Barbara Pease: Why men don't cry and women can't read maps? The Dan Brown book I read through the night! [GADHISUNU]
I think the Da Vinci Code would have been fun to read in one sitting. I read it on a trip and wanted to savor it to have something to read onver the whole trip. I am unfamiliar with the other book you meantion, I'll look into it. [makingpots]
