I am reading Sidney Poitier's "The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography". I saw him discussing it on Oprah a few weeks back; Although I had the book, I didn't get to read it but now I am working on it and so far, so good. I am also reading Adrienne Ellis Reeves, " Sacred Ground" which is an Inspirational Romance. Please tell me what you are reading and a brief thing about it.

At the moment the book that I am reading is called Don Joaquin's Pride written by Lynne Graham, this book is about how this man was coned and lost a lot of money and now the sister has gone back as he was supposed to be dying and Don Joaquin wants the sister who he thinks it the one that coned his friend into losing his money but this book that you are reading also sounds wonderful as I would love to read a spiritual autobiography, I watch Oprah but must of missed her talking about this particular book. [kathy77]
Yes, I have read Sparks and find his books pretty romantic. [Savvynlady]
I am currently reading 'Lisey's Story' by Stephen King. It's about the widow of an author, who is being 'haunted' by ghosts of their past. I seem to be having trouble finding time to read as often as I would like, so it's taking a while to really get into it. [muscare]
Thanks for sharing; I dont' read a lot of King, but I have head his "The Last Mile" and found it interesting. matter of fact, I read it after the movie for curiosity sake. thanks. [Savvynlady]
i love reading during my spare time at home... my officemate lent me his book "chariots of the gods" which i started last night... i like books that are about history and also sci-fi... ;) [shadowcat_018]

I read Stephen King's "Different Season". I just started one page last night..actually i bought this book a few years back.. but i just don't have time to read. So, after finishing my website, i plan to finish this book. [alfonseelric]
I just finished "Blue Mars" by Kim Stanley Robinson. I'll be starting "Green Mars" shortly. At this moment, I'm reading Head First into HTML so I can learn to make web pages. It's actually quite interesting. [MrCoolantSpray]

[MGjhaud]
I'm currently rereading Bram Stoker's Dracula using my mobile phone. Very fascinating book, it's timeless. It's a dark horror classic and that's very unusual, because there are very very few horror classics around! In fact, the only other horror classic that I can think of is that Frankenstein book by Mary Shelley. And Frankenstein was a loving monster. Count Dracula was just plain evil. The book is creepy, and I love how bram stoker manages to give you that ghastly feeling just by reading his descriptions. I love how he wrote the book, it was brilliant, by presenting the story in the form of journal or diary entries by five of the characters, with some newspaper cuttings. This really allows the reader to know everything that happened, not just from one character's point of view, but from everybody's point of view. It's really a brilliant novel, it's got me gripped from the start! [eriennenadine]
I was in my teens when I read Dracula, and it was the first and only book that has ever really scared the pants off me. It really arouses a sense of terror, though I think it probably wouldn't have the same effect on me now that I'm a lot older. I enjoy vampire novels, but only if they're well written. They don't have any punch of horror for me any more. [unusualsuspect]
I am reading the second book in the Dalriada Trilogy, The Dawn Stag by Jules Watson. It's set during the Roman Invasion of Celtic Scotland and brings a banished Prince of Ireland to the shores of Alba just when they need a warleader. It's a bit romantic, tying together his story with that of an Alban high priestess, who becomes his wife much against her will. So far the whole series has been really good. The third book is due out mid May. [jennybeans]
I bought this book last week on how to get started with your business but until now I have only read two pages of it because I need more quality time to really read it. I don't know what got into me lately but I am now a big fan or reader of books or magazines that feature success stories in business or simply tips on how to start your own business. Do I really want to start a serious business one of these days? I am still on the lookout for a very good location and backup capital for this business to take off. I also bought two inspirational books two months ago but until now they aren't read yet. [funny52f]
just finished reading "the confessions of a shopaholic".. and started reading "The River Piedra, I Sat Down and Wept" by Paulo Coehlo. We no longer pay attention to those miracles and signs God has sent us.. The book will help us realize the valuable things in life that are forgotten. [missy30]
The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography". I saw him discussing it on Oprah a few weeks back; Although I had the book, I didn't get to read it but now I am working on it and so far, so good. I am also reading Adrienne Ellis Reeves [meeradevi]

I'm reading Meg Cabot's "Size 14 Is Not Fat Either". It's chick-lit. She wrote "The Princess Diaries" series so you know it's very light and doesn't require much thinking. But it's cute. It's a mystery.. kinda, but very girly at the same time. I've been trying to read it for two months now but I just haven't had the time. [xxidriveastick]
Iīm reading "Iīdonīt Know" thatīs a City cronic. [Dmitrizhirkov]
This discussion comes up now and again. I am sorry to say I still have N.O.W. No Opportunity Wasted sitting on my desk. But that is because another book has taken priority. I am frantically reading Elizabeth Ruth's "Ten Good Seconds of Silence" before I meet with her on May 11th. And it's due back at the library April 27th but I can always renew it. I fell asleep reading it last night. Will probably have to read the chapter over again. [patgalca]
For One More Day by mitch albom. [chiyosan]
Right now I am reading one of the classics "What Katy did" It's a very interesting book which tells the story of a young rebellious girl who becomes paralyzed due to accident [uniqueme20]
i am reading 2 great books : Embraced By The Light The account of Betty J. Eadie's near-death experience. The Awakening Heart Betty J. Eadie's 2nd book describes the author's struggles and continued spiritual awakening after her near-death experience. really enjoyable ! [dubaibab]
I just finished reading "Life As We Knew It " by Susan Beth Pfeffer. It's about when the entire world sees a lunar impact that hits the earth and shifts the earth causing damaging aftermath. It was a very good book but something like this could actually happen and that makes it scary. [stormygrl]
The book am reading presently is "The power of positive thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale. This is a book that is challenging my life now. [gbaben]
I have read it years ago, and now was able to get a copy and start again. Norman Vincent Peale to me, was a bit ahead of his time by writing this book; And he lived to be quite a ripe old age(95) when he died on Christmas of 1993; His books are very good. I remember once when I was a little girl someone suggested going up to Pawling, N.Y. where he lived and getting his books, but no one acted on it; I felt then that whatever they were, they would appeal to me even then and my intuition didn't fail me. [Savvynlady]
I am reading 'Perfume' by Patrick Suskind which is about a man with remarkable olfactory sense. It is quite a well written book reminding me just a little bit of dickens. I mostly read biographies and fantasy novels so this is a little bit different, it is recommended by my daughter. [mihimolly]
I'm reading two books right now. A Man Without a Country, by Kurt Vonnegut, which is a collection of his short essays and talks. Also Foreigner, by C J Cherryh. I've never read anything by Cherryh before because she seems to concentrate on fantasy, but this one is hard science fiction, as far as I can tell, so it might be interesting. [unusualsuspect]
I just picked up a book called In Defense of Globalization by Jagdish Bhagwati. It was published by Oxford University Press. Just read the first part, but it seems the book is trying trace why people are against globalisation and then show the positives and negatives of globalisation. But finally he seems to be inclined to make a case for globalisation. [headhunter525]
I'm reading Ovid's Metamorphoses. I have an interest in art history, especially with art that was made in the Renaissance period. I was told by my art history and English teachers in order to gain understanding of the art, I should read Metamorphoses and the Bible. Once I'm done with Ovid, I'll be hitting the Bible, even though I'm not that religious, my family is so I can just borrow one of their three copies XD [Wyayenjee]
wow i am reading his book too. my mother in law said she heard it was a good book so i picked it up. i have always admired him, but now i respect him more then ever. it takes a strong and special person to over come and keep is head and he did it with out backing down and always keeping his head. i am looking at him with new eyes. [34momma]
I've just started reading "The Kindness Of Strangers" by Kate Adie. She has been a war correspondent for the BBC for years and this is her memoirs. It includes her experiences from covering the troubles in Northern Ireland, the student protests in Tiananmen Square and the Gulf War in '91. As I say I've only just started reading it but I think it will be interesting. [Stiletto]
Larry McMurtry's Telegraph Days finally bubbled up to the top of my ever-burgeoning "to-be-read" pile and I'm enjoying it very much thus far. [MKWillis]
The Love Teachings of Kama Sutra, by Indra Sinha [lesnan]
I'm re-reading "Master and Margarita" by Mihhail Bulgakov, because the mini-series based on this book are on our TV now. The book is brilliant, and the series are also. [kiiizu]
Thank you for asking. I'm currently reading two books. The first, is ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE: Everything You Need to Know. I picked it up because my father was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Though this book is a slim volume, it is packed with more information I'll ever remember. If you want to know about Alzheimer's, I suggest starting with this book. The second, is a novel called MAD GIRLS IN LOVE. I can't remember the name of the author. It's a hilarious southern novel about a mother who is in a mental hospital and her daughter who was accused of murdering her husband. [KATRINKA]
Hello Katrinka, I love that name and how it sounds. The first book you talk aout sounds real interesting; I have a father that is ill and that sounds like something I would love to read. Interesting. [Savvynlady]
I'm reading "Gone" by Jonathan Kellerman. It is a Alex Delaware murder mystery. I enjoy reading fiction, mystery/suspense. [1983tyler]
As always, I am reading quite a few books. I always have like 4 or 5 books going at a time. I don't know the authors to these books but I am currently reading the following: Alicia: My Story, Hissy Fit, Everything She Thought She Wanted, and See Jane Date. So far I really like all of them. They are all chick lit except for the Alicia: My Story, which is a story about a girl who survived the Holocaust. That one is very depressing! [dopey22girl]
I'm reading "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. It's the same main character and author as Davinci Code but a much better book in my opinion [xtothez]
Right now I am reading "Strange HIghways"by Dean Loontz.I have read it before but it has one of my favorite stories in it so I thought I would give it a whirl again. [66jerseygirl]
I am reading The Narrows by Michael Connelly. It is a detective/police novel. This is the thrid book I have read by him. The detective in his books is named Harry Bosch. They are quite interesting and fast moving. [lightningMD]
I am actually not reading a book at the moment but have just finished a crime/mystery novel by James Patterson who would have to be one of my favourite non fiction writers. The book was his newest one - Cross. [14missy]
I am reading one of Dan Brown's books right now. I really like it. [nangel78]
I'm reading Wuthering Heights which is a classic of English literature.I just read it for studying English,so far I just finished one fifth I have been reading it for over 2 months.Quite slow cause every page I can meet a lot of new words and I have to look them up one by one using E-dictionary.You guye must be very familiar with this book since it's a classic,I feel it's fine. [mailovee]
I am reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. I love the Harry Potter series, and that one is my favorite. I'm visiting my mom, so I just had to take it out and read it. When it gets closer for the time of the last book to come out, I will have to re-read them all, which will only take a week. Umm, I like it because of Umbridge who is from the Ministy coming to teach and everyone defying her wishes by starting an illegal Defense against the Dark Arts group and the Weasley's using their joke shop things on her. I love to imagine, and that's one of the best series. I am also reading a book called Freshman, and I'm not very far in it. But, the gist is this boy gets into college because another boy's dad pays for him to go and take his son's classes for him. Don't know much more than that yet. [silently_screaming]
Marley a history of one dog, labrador...is funny not a best so........ [miryam]
I am currently reading 48 laws of power by robert greene which is about power, how to gain power, how to go along with it, the misconception of power and the advantages and tricks of having it. Its a national bestseller and i would wanna recommend it for everyone. I am also reading cain and abel which is a classic. [fellowlife]
Yes, I have read some of that book; interesting. [Savvynlady]
I'm thinking of getting a copy of Sidney Poitiers book as well. Let me know what you think of it after you've read it. I have just finished reading Jody Piccoult's "Nineteen Minutes" and I quite enjoyed it. Its about school violence, bullying and is similar to what happened at Virginia Tech over the last month or so. I like that fact that she talks about real life stories in a fiction context. The other book of hers that I really enjoyed was "My Sisters Keeper" - a young girl with leukaemia and how it affected her siblings and parents. I had a cousin in law that died from leukaemia so it kind of gave me a bit of an insight into what she may have gone through and how the family were trying to cope with it all. [maddysmommy]
Sidney Poitier's book deals with his moral and spiritual values and how it has guided him throughout life. I really enjoyed it because at time he can be brutally honest on things and I like that. Please get it when you can. [Savvynlady]
Right now I am reading Dune Mesiah by Frank Herbert, book two of like 8 or something. It's pretty good. Honestly the Dune series has been on my "to read" list for about 20 years, I'm glad I finally took the time to read them. [filmbuff]
I'm actually reading two books right now: 1: Hannah Keeley's Total Mom Makeover: A Six-Week Plan to Completely Transform Your Home, Health, Family and Life. I started reading this book because I'm in serious burn out mode and am in need of some considerable changes. I'm a mother of three (a five, six and seven year old), I'm a writer, I'm an artist, I'm a homemaker, I'm a college student and I'm a girlfriend. I'm having a hard time balancing it all and am hoping this book will teach me how to do all of this better. 2: A Teenager's Journey by Richard B. Pelzer This book is a memoir and, from the cover, it reads: Overcoming a Childhood of Abuse. I started reading this for work, initially, but it's quickly becoming one of my personal favorites. [explorations]
I am currently reading three books, alternating weeks btween each. The first is THE STAND by Stephen King, the second is Passionate Thirst by Cameron Dean and the third is the second book of the "Left Behind' series. I wonder who out there is reading my book published at AuthorHouse ? sharing the light, Erica, the Enlightenment Advisor, M.A Transpersonal Psych http://www.enlightenment-psych.net [sojournseeker]
I am reading the Laws of Thinking and Laws of Attraction both are very good books. I am always looking for good quality books to read and I did not see that show when it aired but I will pick me up a copy, I really admire Sidney Poitier and would love to read his autobiography. [billionaire5]
I have Bishop Jordan's book The Laws of Thinking; I got that at the beginning of the year, and still haven't read it yet. Got The Secret too. Yes, Sidney's book was very good and sorry you missed the show because it was a real nice warm show. a dinner with friends and what have you. [Savvynlady]
i read that book and i tell you it is an amazing story. he has lived a long life, and has learned so many lessons. and reading his book, i too have learned some lesson. i really loved it and i recommend everyone to read it. i am reading the bible, the law of attraction, and the secret mind of a millionaire. [34momma]
Right now im reading The Godfather by Mario Puzzo, if you like the movie you should try the book, its better than the movie, i like reading books and then if three is a movie i watch it, its better than watching the movie first and then reading the book. [charlieman99]
The Godfather huh? couldn't watch the movie much; but I guess I'll try the book; interesting and thanks for your input. [Savvynlady]
hi Savvynlady, Thanks for asking. I have completed a novel titled "A wish upon a star" by Kimberley Comeaux, is quite a time filling, interesting, fictitious, medieval romantic novel, the narration revolves around a wish made by two desperate women to escape the agony of thier present state at two different time bounds. kristy, the heroin of the novel is a popular model of new york 20th century out of betrayal and Cristina of cranbrook 12th century in fear of losing her freedom if she marries a barbarian makes a wish to be in some other better place than the present. These two look alike so their wish was granted by a gardian angel called jubal. They trade places in no time to find them selves in quite different and yet interesting situations. How both women finds their distinations and how their respective wishes comes true is the theme of the novel. The author's strong imaginative narration, will make the reader jurney through the medieval times. If you wish you can read this novel online, visit WWW.kimberleycomeaux.com/wish.html. I enjoyed reading this novel. Hope you too find interesting. [venous]
I am reading Samuel P. Hungtington's book The Clash of Civilisations and the Remaking of World Order. It is little old now, but I thought it would be important to read it because I have come lot of people quote that book, either as part of their critique or support. But I have just finished few chapters. So far the author has been trying to make the case that the world is getting divided based on civilisation/culture. The hegemony of the West is on the decline and there are different regional powers coming up to challenge and displace the Western power. I have not read the later part, but I think he went to say the world will eventually experience based on civilisations, and not on the basis of ideology which the world once witnessed when Western Liberalism was challenged by Communism. I hope to finish it in few days. After which I thought of reading In Defense of Globalisations by Vishnu Baghwat and Globalisation and it's Discontents by Joseph Stiglitz. [headhunter525]
I am reading philip yancey's "soul survivor". It is great and a synopsis of great people who have influenced his life. oh dear, this doesn't do the book justice. perhaps i should get a proper blurb from amazon. Ah there you go - how thirteen unlikely mentors helped my faith survive the church. written in a very readable style. he's a good journalist and interesting writer. [squaretile]
Lasher by Anne Rice.I know it's one of her old works but I really love her stuff. In fact I'm always reading sci-fi,goth,fantasy or mystery novels.I very, very rarely read anything non-ficton.Unless of course it's a cook book.;-) [vhansen]
