Both actually; but for the most part, I like to read for the stuff thats available and I have a deep love for reading. Keeps me out of folks lives and business and thats the way I love it. [Savvynlady]

I love reading and I do a lot of reading. I am mostly interested in metaphysical topics and psychology. Therefore, most of the material that I read is to learn. I am always satisfied with what I read, because of the simple fact that I don't read for fun or passing the time - I read to gather information. I also like to read more than one book at a time because I can combine everything together while I read and this allows me make sense out of certain subjects more easily. If I find a particular passage in a book that I absolutely want to remember, I copy it in a little notebook and re-read it several times to have it committed to memory. In the past month, I have learned a lot about lucid dreaming and I have started to practice what I have read - it has been a wonderful experience thus far! [ButterflyEs]
I think you are reading for increasing your knowledge. If you get som thing new then automatically you are satisfied otherwise you are unsatisfied. [neerajpandey_13]

I read because I love doing it and because it has become an innate activity over the years. My eyes automatically moves to reading the back of cereal boxes when there is nothing in the vicinity to occupy my mind. Our society has moved us towards a constant need for entertainment, and I happen to be attracted most to reading wherever I go. Generally, academic readings are very unattractive to me. But if it happens to be a topic I am interested in at the point of time, I could easily devour books of the same topic without any problems. [leepeiyu]

Reading is just amazing. It has affected my life in so many ways. Well, at first I didn't really like it that much but when I read a book that was so interesting and engrossing, I've taken a serious liking to reading books, particularly fiction books. I can't explain how it affects me really, just that I feel great whenever I'm doing it. At the same time, time passes really fast whenever I'm reading. For me, reading is even better than watching a TV and movies. [austenfan]

according to me I don't involve much on reading but I still read and like to read all those stuff that are of my interest and related to my profession so it gives me knowledge and satisfaction, due to reading I am satisfied that I have knowledge and I am updated from others which are in my profession....so I feel glad but I some time do some different reading job to know the different activities happening in the world and to enhance my knowledge. [megh4u]
If you don't like reading much then how can you attain satisfaction from reading. Satisfaction comes only after need and need is result of wish. [neerajpandey_13]

It is both for me. I like reading coz its good time pass and of course some books are so interesting I remember the stories long after I have finished the book. In fact, I would love to re-read such books again and again after some gap. Apart from books, I love reading anything worthwhile from glossies to informative magazines to the newspaper daily…its such a huge world out there and are so many incidents to catch up on. Reading refreshes my mind and also keeps me abreast of things around. [sudiptacallingu]

It really all depends on what you are reading. Personally, I don't read all that much. I'm more of a Manga kinda guy. But, when I do read, I do it for fun, or entertainment. Rarely to pass time. Thats what the computer is for. Anyways. Yeah, some stuff isn't fun to read, but sometimes you have to read things you don't like. For things such as work, school, Etc. I think individual reading should be done solely for their entertainment, and shouldn't feel like a chore or anything of the sort. [FluffyDoomKitten]

I've mostly only read when I've been forced to (homework or studying for an exam) but recently I've been borrowing library books purely out of interest. I like to read books for knowledge, so it's been philosophy and science until now. Unless I find a really good novel/fiction book that I can finish within the two week borrowing deadline :P [gilly5490]

reading mostly depends to materialise into timepass or satisfaction depending on the situation in that u are when reading... see ... if i am travelling and then i am reading it would be mostly for timepass... but when i am at the comfort of my home and then i am reading it would be for satisfaction.. even my choice of books is different when i read either for pleasure or for timepass.. in timepass i like to carry comedy, light hearted books... whereas for pleasure or satisfaction i prefer novels that may be of genre thriller, suspense, fiction ! [vipuljainind]

if i read something related to my intrests it gives me satisfaction, but when am getting bored or something and their is nothing good to read around i can just read whatever is avilable to pass time, but i read only for satisfaction i got a tv,the net and many more ways to do time passing:) [sameeer]

Reading gives satisfaction to me. Everyday , I spend some time on reading. The news stuff make me informed what's going on. [zhangfzoe]

Hi,neerajpandey_13 Reading gives me satisfaction.I love reading, reading has been a hobby for me since I can read...I read books for knowledge, for idea.I want to learn from books.SOmetimes I was upset by something bad happened to me,and I will turn to books to calm myself.Books keep me stay postive and tell me many useful tips. When I get some desired material,I usually will stop everything I am doing and focus on the book till I have read it through. After reading,I will think about what I have got from the book and what is useful in my daily life,it is helpful I think. Have a nice day and enjoy reading! [hxstar]
If it is hobby then may be it is only time pass foe you. If you get satisfaction then definitely you learn lots of new thing from reading. What's you learn in past one week. [neerajpandey_13]

Actually i will get both satisfactions. [dhanishvijayan]

I do read an awful lot of non-fiction stuff so yes I read to learn. Though there are times when I feel the need to have a little holiday and fiction books are good for that. They can take you totally out of the world you live in,only if it's a good book though. [moondance61]

I love to read because this activity keeps my brain healthy.it's an exercise for the brain. It's also a good source of entertainment because you get to use your imagination and picture out the characters.you can impress a lot of people when you share the knowledge you acquired through reading. [my_name_is_coco]
Ok, it means it is way of satidfying your mind. If you feel satisfied after reading then you learn lots of things new after each type of learning. [neerajpandey_13]

I like to read a lot of good books and novels because besides developing my mind they also help me to improve upon my vocabulary also. I get to know a large number of new words and writing styles form these books. I also really enjoy them a lot. It also adds a lot of ideas in my mind and refines my thinking. I generally try to read a good book everyday but these days I am finding it hard to find time for these co-circular activities. [firstsite2008]

i think reading is good because you can large your vocabular and in the same time is relaxing, but is really that reading is good for the pass the time [cosmin008]

I love reading and I read all the time. Now, I don't have much time to read and most of the stuff that I read is for work. Reading is like a new world, a new adventure with a great book. I don't feel like reading is something that I would ever deign because of everything that it has done for me. Good luck and read more stuff. [blion23]

I love to read, and I have always read a lot of books. I read because it gives me pleasure and satisfaction and because I am in interested in learning new things. Ever since I was a child I have loved the library, and I still like to borrow lots of books whenever I go there. I am often too optimistic and I tend to borrow more books than I can read in one month, but I just get so excited when I see so many interesting books at one place lol Reading is a big part of my life and I would miss it a lot if I couldn't read. [Porcospino]

I don't do anything just to pass the time. Passing time happens quickly enough without me trying to force it. I love reading audiobooks while I'm working though so that way I can do two things at once, enjoy reading something (or if it's a textbook, learn something) and get my work done. I'll read them at other times too, especially textbooks to learn, but normally I don't have enough free time for reading. I cannot read much in paperbacks, maybe 5 minutes. A couple sentences. [Pigglies]

i think it is for both purposes but it depends on how am actually feeling at that moment and i will to also specify that it depends on the kind of book i want to read, it might be fiction or otherwise but that really matters. [Shynepapin]

I have many books in my room, and sometimes I borrow books from the library. I love the feeling after reading books full of knowledge. mybe i do like the satisfaction from reading and the state of thinking. but often, i just read novels and magzines for passing time too. [guoyanyunyanty]

I love to read. 99% of all books are better than the movies based on them. It leaves more to the imagination. It keeps you sharp, and it helps you to continue to grow throughout your life. Reading is definitely an enjoyable activity for me. I've been reading since I was a child, and I never had to be made to do it (unless it was a history book!). [cobra1368]
According to you reading is source of satisfaction for you. Since you are saying that your imagination power is increased by reading then definitely, yo learn lots of new things from learning. [neerajpandey_13]

I love reading. It helps me relax and at the same time, it helps me exercise my eyes and my brain (it's quite different when you read and when you work, the brain and the eyes work differently). I feel satisfied whenever I finish a novel and I look forward to the next novel I could get my hands on. I'm currently reading Narnia series :) Thanks for the response on my discussion! [oyenkai]

I read because I love reading. I always take a book with me whenever I go somewhere in case I have a chance to read. [dalelynn21]

well the way i have to respond to that is both because i love to read nad i will take a book with me when i leave the house say like if i have to wait at the doctrs office or something like that or if iam riding with someone else and dont have to drive sometimes i will read and the most i have ever spent on a book is tnew moon from stephanie meyers i paid 8.00 for a soft cover i read the first one fromthe library but i cant make it to library right now so i had to buy it but thats okay my husband had all the harry potter books and when the last one came out we were in line at our local walmart at midnight waiting on it and he got it. [frygirl]

I love to read it is an enjoyable way to pass the time and learn something most of the time. New things magizines are good to read for me but I also like to read some books more than once. Especially if it's a good mystery. I write articles now but I hope to write a book soon. [sunshinegirl1]

Well it depends what im reading..... If i am reading my college Notes, I would feel a sence of satifaction that atleast ill pass....hehe And if i am reading a novel.....it increases both language skills and also it helps you in passing your time....specially if you are on a long journey [John4Christ]

I would not read just to pass the time. I look forward to reading and never find enough time to do it! I would waste my time on mylot if I didn't feel like reading. I only get to read some nights at the end of the day before I fall asleep. Reading is like the dessert of my day. [csrobins]

I love to read...it is more of a passion with me. But there are phases when i simply do not touch a book....and then there are others when i just can't stop reading!! I feel, every time one reads a book, one learns something new. I have learnt some things from books that I have read. There have been books that have left an impact on me. It depends on the reader what he/she wishes to learn and keep. I have learnt about places, people, even history of some places from books.I can read for hours and forget about other things. Finishing every book gives me satisfaction. [opinder]

i read because i love to read. i learnt a lot of things from reading. mind you, it's the fictional books that i learnt the most. it has coem to my attention that fictional writers employ a team of researchers to research on everything in the book. that's how we are able to visualise the details in the book. because everything in the book is closely related to the reality. it is especially interesting when the main character of the book has a rare occupation. jobs like coroner or medical specialists are very interesting because it offers a glimpse into a job that i would otherwise never have seen. [applefreak]

Reading give me satisfaction in what I am reading ,I read because I like to read and it does pass off time like when you are waiting in the doctors office. When you are trying to get sleepy enough to go to bed.You can keep on learning about things when you read different topics. You can find books on anything you are wanting to know. [anniefannie]
Overall, I can say that you love reading. But think that is you can feel complete without reading. Reading always gives you lots of new information. [neerajpandey_13]

Oh wow. I love reading. I have ever since I was a little kid. I read for fun, not just to pass the time. I can't imagine not having reading in my life. I think it's a great way to expand my mind and to have a great source of entertainment. I read all kinds of books. The only ones I don't particularly enjoy is sci fi, not sure why, just never have. [cortney09]
I read any type of book that I can get my hands on. I read true crime, romance, biographies, and everything else. My first choice when I have time to read would have to be any mystery type book. [cortney09]

Both - its something to do but its something i love. Sometimes if its a sucky book its not "satisfying" But i enjoy reading. [saundyl]

well, reading always gives me satisfaction since i have a fertile imagination , every time i read a book it is like the first time, even if i have read the book several times before, i can still feel the rush of reading a book for the first time, then the sweet sensation of savoring every word the second time i rea, and the times after that, reading is a pleasure to me, i like it...very much [s8tern]
If you achieve satisfaction from reading then there is chance that you learn lots of things from reading only. Reading is always teaches you new thing. [neerajpandey_13]

like many, it's actually both for me, though if i did have to choose one, it'd be satisfaction. if it's newspapers i'm reading, i feel satisfied or rather happy i guess that i am updated on the recent events that is happening around the world. if it is storybooks, then the new words that i learn make me happy and smug (grins) also, i love the stories and so when it ends, i'm usually so satisfied with the ending, it kind of makes me feel sated you could say hehe same goes for manga (japanese comics) that i read online daily. including the pictures, it allows the romantic in me to dream of things that would never ever happen in reality. [sminut13]
well, i guess it's more like i prefer being updated about things rather than outdated. also, i like to read aloud to improve my pronunciations and all, so it's kind of an interest to me i guess. [sminut13]

In my opinion, reading for doing time pass is pointless. If the goal is killing time, thinking in nothing, watching television is a good choice. If the fictional universe of a novel doesn´t catch me, the solution is simple: I don´t keep reading. But before making such a drastic decision I always give the book a chance. I usually read the first quarter of it because I am fully aware of the fact the author needs some space to built his (or her) dramatic premises. But if I don´t like the novel beyond that limit, I put it aside and turn on the TV. [mano5chi]
You are probably right! But even under those specific circumstances I would choose another way to kill the time. Laptops seem to be very popular in places like airports, offices, train stations and so on. [mano5chi]

I read every night before I go to bed. It helps clear my mind and relax me after the day is over. I guess it gives me a little satisfaction. I figure it's more informative and better than just watching TV all evening and it helps me sleep better. [harmonee]

I enjoy reading because it gives me satisfaction (which, to me, is the only real reason to do things in life). I love to learn, and books provide a ready source for knowledge. In the past month I've learned things about human ancestors (including that there is apparently a heated debate in anthropology about whether or not our ancestors were prey to other animals? And to think I thought it was a no brain question and didn't even realize it was such a highly debated issue!). Through reading, I've also learned a lot about poetry writing, too. Reading poets like Mark Strand and Stephen Cushman helps me recognize what is universally good for a poem and what things I simply don't like in poetry. It also keeps me up to date on what contemporary poets are doing and what sorts of things modern readers like. [phyrre]

i am not a bookworm. so reading books doesnt give me a lot of satisfaction. though story books do keep me engaged, and i enjoy reading them. if a story is that touching then i may keep pondering over it for a few days and then it goes away from my mind. i read because i have to read. i do it as a duty. thats it. doesnt hook me at all. [samirsamal]

"If I am reading it, then why not enjoy it." this inspires me to enjoy what I read. I make sure what I read should add to my knowledge whatever small fraction it may be. I usually get very little time to spend time for reading, but I make sure it is of value to me. So, I would like all to gain from it and not just do it for the sake of it. [dev21lucky]
