The Book You Are Currently Reading

What book are you currently reading? And what book did you finish before that? I am reading Girls Guide to Witchcraft by Mindy Klasky... Its very good so far and has gotten my interest right off. Before that I started Morrigans Crossing by Nora Roberts.. It took me quite awhile to get in to this book, but once I did I was hooked and found it really good.

Well, i just got done reading "Spy High" and it was an amazing book. If your looking for a good book, you'll want to try the Alex Rider series. It's about a teenage spy, who saves the world. The first book is called "Stormbreaker" and is in a series of 6 books. Anthony Horowitz, the author, is my all time favorite author. [Alexanderrp]

Im reading Plato's Republic to raise my IQ a bit hopefully and Im also reading a book about the history of coffee called Black Gold, by Anthony Wild. I just finished reading Only Human by Tom Holt, which was a major disappointment as I was hoping for something as good as Douglas Adams but it was more at the level of Terry Pratchet even had a joke in it about him and it wasn't very funny at all [Bartolin1980]

I am currently reading The Fellowship: The Untold Story of Frank Lloyd Wright & the Taliesin Fellowship by Roger Friedland. It is about Frank Lloyd Wright's life and the fellowship he started. My husband bought me the book from Christmas. I ama huge fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and his architecture. The book I read before this one was Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. This book is about the Wicked Witch of the Wests son and his life after she died. It is almost a sequel to Wicked by the same author. [sedel1027]

I am interested in what you are reading. Is it a fiction or an actual guide? :) I just finished Dark Fire by Christine Feehan. The sixth book of the dark series about Carpathians. Very erotic!!! Now I am reading, Skinny B!tching by Jenny Lee. The title does not have the ! in the word, I had to put that for censorship on myLot. One would think that if it is okay for the public library to carry this book...it should be okay to say on the internet. Anyways, it is about a thirty-something woman mouthing off about age angst, pregnancy pressure, and the dieting battles you'll never win. ha ha It's pretty cute so far...but I just started it today. :) [brokentia]
And you are doing great! You never quit...you started to, but that is not the point. You stuck it out and now you are almost done!! Way to go! :DD [rsmith512]

At the moment I've just finished the Michael Palin Diary (Monty Python), which was really good and very long -almost 1000 pages- but which probably wouldn't be of much interest to anyone who doesn't know much about comedy at that time (1970s). I received it for Xmas and so interrupted the book I was previously reading as I couldn't wait to read it! So now I've gone back to the other book, which's a series by Robert Jordan that my friend recommended to me. I'm up to book 8 - I think - of 11, and I'm really enjoying them, although Book 6 was a little slow. [morris_minor1958]

I am mostly attracted to fantasy novels, Belgariad series are one of all time favourites, not to mention Lord of the Rings. I also enjoy Anne Rice's Witches and vampires chronologies. I haven't quite finish Blackwood Farm yet... well, quite a lot more to read for Anne Rice. I am also caught up with Dan Brown's Davinci Code and Angels and Demons. i am reading the amulet of samarkand currently and it is a great book in my opinion, it has alot of description which really allows my imagination to draw me pictures and play scenes out in my head which is what i like. it is a fiction, sort of similar to the harry potter books but is at a slightly higher level in the case that a younger reader might not get the full effect form the book and wouldnt appreciate it as much as an older reader could. whereas with the harry potter collection i think it is great for all ages, and the onle thing it does have going for it that otehrs dont it the huge support and large continuation into 7 books with the plot still attracting the reader and drawing them into the books. i think the books are much better than the films, as the films miss so much out that it is twice as much of a story if you read the book as opposed to watching the film. khris [jonezy]

I am currently reading The Innocent Man by John Grisham. As far as I know it is his first work of non-fiction. I've read and enjoyed his novels. This tells of crimes committed in the early 1980's where the investigation was very much mishandled by both local and state police. I will finish the book but it is not easy to follow, lots of characters and lots of repitition. I don't think the book will have any impact on my thinking in the future, except to stick with this writers fiction and avoid the non-fiction. Iam reading this for "pleasure". [Chiriac]

I just finished Sorcer by James Byron Huggins and am browsing through Outdoor Survival Skills by Larry Olsen. [DeepMystery]

i am reading Blue Oceans. Before I read a compliation of three books by Norman Vincent Peale. [aquariancore]

I am finishing up Douglas Coupland's Eleanor Rigby. A book about a woman i her 30s who has a very so-called sheltered life. Most consider her a wallflower but with a dark secret. She suddenly gets a call saying that her 20 years old son is in the hospital quite ill. The story goes back and forth from when she got pregnant to the present and adds a little dysfunction of her family life. Her son has a illness ad when he gets his "spells" he sees visions. The previous book I read was Feline Aids: A Pet Owner's Guide to FIV. This book was written by Tom Hapka after his 16 year old cat Jac was diagnosed with full blown aids and how he turn Jac's dish rag limp state of illness to complete health by using natural and homeopathic medicine. Running a rescue shelter for feral cats and that I am always up on reading books that deal with cat illnesses and vet textbooks. [feralcat]

I bought this book from Amazon just about a month ago, in the hope to slowly recover from depression, because it seemed like my medication alone ain't 100% helping me on this. but i'm still in earlier chapters. i hope to share it with other ppl on the net too, visit my website http://hitthenet.org/depressionblog if you are a depressed. tq. ;) [nufoundglory]

I just finished, "The Magic of Shirley Jackson," edited by her husband. It contains her short stories ("The Lottery" is probably the most famous) as well as two novellas/novels, one entitled, "The Bird's Nest," which gives a great portrayal of multiple personality disorder, so much so that I found it disturbing, and the hilarious, "Life Among the Savages," which I had heard of but never read before. If you've read some Shirley Jackson short stories but not the latter novella, I would strongly recommend it. It gives an entirely different perspective on the author and it's VERY enjoyable. It was one of the books that I was sorry to see end. [snivelbec]

I am currently reading Walk On: The Spiritual Journey of U2 by Steve Stockman, which is, as a biography of U2 with a more spiritual/religious slant. I'm also reading Ghosts of the Molly Maguires? by Betty Lou MacBride. I picked this one up when I was on vacation in the Poconos. It's about the strange experiences visitors to the old Carbon County Jail have had and raises the possibility that it might be haunted. I just finished The Bernini Bust by Iain Pears, a mystery novel. [DreamOn01]

I am currently reading Fever 1973 by Laurie Halse Anderson. I was reading before that Fahrenhiet 451 and just finished reading that not to long ago. I had to read it in the summer and I read it at least three times. I had to read it because I was getting into Pre-AP English...but they said it was too full, so I was put in regular English. Therefore, we jsut started to read it in regular English. I practically have that book memorized!! But, it was a really great book. And so is the one that I am reading now! :D [rsmith512]

well recently i have started to read Emerson's Self Reliance...just to receive moral and spiritual knowledge. As Emerson was well known philosopher ahd seer.Reading his essays are like reading holy scriptures.i realised while reading his essay that self reliace is a uality of great practical value.the man who has well grounded confidence in his own power can effect far more than a diffident and timid man of superior ability to shrinks from tasks for fear of failure.the self reliant man thus gains in power and influence and guides the destinies of others. [istpreet]

I'm currently reading 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter' by Kim Edwards. I'm about 1/3 way through it and I'm really enjoying it so far. Prior to that I read 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven' by Mitch Albom. I quite liked his book 'Tuesday's With Morrie' so I thought I'd give this one a go as I'd heard good things. I didn;t think much of it though. It felt as though it was trying to hard to be meaningful and I found it a bit over simplistic. [seewhy]

i just finished readind a book dance with me about reconciliation, faith and marrage a good book that tells us there is hope even in the most hopeless situations [sholsky]

I am reading CROSSING OVER by John Edward. It is so good. I love him and am constantly amazed with the information he gets from the other side. [chaygylmommy]

I am reading this wonderful book called Joseph and Mary by Robert Marcum. I purchased the book on CD to listen to while we were traveling at Christmas time. I enjoyed it so much that I then purchased the book to read. It is so good. He usually writes supense novels so I was hesitant about this book at first. It starts out with Joseph asking for Marys hand in marriage and the customs back in biblical times. It really brings new meaning to me concerning the way Jesus was raised. I cryed so many times in this book. [villageanne]

I'm not reading one currently, but the last one I read was Cell by Steven King. I'm not a huge fan of his, but the book was really good! [mndygrl78]
