Well, after cleaning out the car this morning, we decided to take a trip downtown to the main library. We had to return the last trip's audiobooks and needed some new ones.
Well, while the roomie looked for audio books, I organized the "to be filed" book trucks. By the time she was done, I had finished 1 truck and one side of a second one.
I had the non-fiction on one shelf, and fiction on the next and then the books on tapes on the bottom.
Now, granted, if I had time, I would've gotten all the fiction books together and in alpha order and the non-fiction in order, but as it was I only got them the carts in order on each side.
So, do you ever do that? Its not the first time I've done this, just the first time in a long time.
Do you like to go to the library?

Hi ElicBxn, I have not been to a library for years, all the books I have is what I have bought, I don 't like going to the library as I will forget to return the books back. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
Same here. I don't live too close to a library anyway. [1gidget]
Hi there! I haven't done that but I really want to. It's because I am always in a hurry when I go to the college library because I do some studying in between classes and after I have read, copied, or got my pages photocopied, I rush to my next class. I was actually thinking of putting up an organization for library volunteers but that would be a lot of work to organize. [nanayangel]
believe it or not, I majored in library science in college, but never did anything with it. [ElicBxn]
I have yet to do this in a library, but if I'm bored in a store I'll re-hang things that have fallen off of racks or put things that I notice are out of place back where they belong. I haven't gone to a library in a while, actually. I've been meaning to go, but just haven't had the time. (Or the motivation, really. If I don't have time to get to the library, what makes me think I'll have time to read a book? :P) [CheshireKat]
lol These are all audio books, I listened to one in the car and the roomie listens to them too. Read? what's read? [ElicBxn]
I used to go to the library a lot, as I love to read, but between my family and friends giving me books, finding them at thrift shops, yard sales, trade sites and amazon.com and ebay, when I am looking for a specific one, I have not been there in so long. Before I had internet at home that is where I used to go on the internet. I was allowed 2 hours per visit and always reserved my time so I was assured to have my full two hours. That was maybe two or three times per week. Now I am on everyday, a lot! LOL [nanajanet]
its part of the talking book program for the blind [ElicBxn]
Only library we go to is the one in our small town. It's pretty big and high-tech even thou it's as old as the town, which is over a century old. My daughter loves going there to check out books but then ends up forgetting to return them so ends up paying a small fine each time. lol Never put books in alpha order thou. [blackbriar]
Well, if she is paying a fee, it is still cheaper than buying and she is supporting the local library, so it is not all that bad. But, you could have a basket by the door or in the hallway that says, "Library books to return." Maybe that will help. [nanajanet]
I go to the library every 1-2 weeks and get from 5-8 books at a time. I LOVE to read and I read fast. It's my pleasure and relaxation. So do you work at your library or volunteer there? [Irishfrndly65]
Ha ha ha ha, I bet ours would thank me too! LOL [Irishfrndly65]
It's been ages since I've been to a library however, I used to enjoy it quite a bit but since I've been buying my books, I've not been. I'm a slow reader anyway and with life being so hectic lately, I haven't had time to read anything. Even my Readers Digest magazines have piled up. Now that's bad! lol But life in a real sense came first but I'll eventually catch up. Now when we go through town, we go right past the library so I do know where it is. I'd like to try going there again since I did enjoy it in the past. Besides, the books are free, a lot cheaper than buying them! lol [CatsandDogs]
Because of your vision problem, you might be eligible for the talking book program in your state. You might be able get the books on the program. [ElicBxn]
I bet they were happy your were there today Elic. I take my son to the library once a month because he has to get a book to read for English class. [OURDEW]
I'm not real fond of the local branch of the library, but I remember when they were building the "new" main library, now they are talking about replacing it. [ElicBxn]
I love to take the kids and go to the library. They have a lot of things that they do with the kids while I can find a few good books to read. I take the kids and go every Thursday and while they enjoy crafts & story time I enjoy some story time myself! LOL [fasttalker]
I'd probably would have been to the library a lot more if I had kids, but the cats have no use for a book unless its tasty.... [ElicBxn]
I'm long overdue for a trip to the library. Since I've moved up here with my daughter I need to get a new library card. I think that I will take care of that Monday. [savak03]
That's a good way to start the new year! [ElicBxn]
I have not been to the library since I was in high school. I am not much of a reader. I love the atmosphere of a library though. [stephcjh]
I love to read, but since I now have to have glasses to do it, its harder to read in bed, and the cats are so much help. [ElicBxn]
I have not been to the library recently. I'm in 2nd year college and I must say that I just don't feel fascinated with the library anymore like I was back in high school and elementary. I really love books but I really don't like going to the college library. I think it must be with the ambiance the college library has. Although the library is spacious, there are so many students who uses it that it always seems to be crowded and that I can't even concentrate while I'm in there. Also, the books are not really updated so I am not able to find what I'm looking for in the library. Plus, our college library is not that organized that if I really want something there I can't find it. [jmcuaycong]
I seldom studied in the library myself, but mostly because it was on the other side of the campus from my dorm. I mostly studied in my room. Mind you, I was studing LIBRARY SCIENCE!!! [ElicBxn]
I live in a very small neighborhood... of~800 people and therefore our library is just as small. But what I have found is that I can go online and I can 'reserve' movies (DVDs or VHS) from the library and if the movie is in on of the other libraries I can get it from them within a day or two. I use Blockbuster mail program for my new movies and then I use the library to watch movies that I would rather not pay for... I have been able to cut my Blockbuster bill in half. What I have also done is donate books that I do not use anymore to further the reading and the size of my local library... more people should find out what is available at their libraries... some even carry games (PS2/3, XBOX, etc...) Thankshappy Zelo happy [zeloguy]
Our library system just started carrying Wii games... long wait for the games but COOL! Thanks happy Zelo happy [zeloguy]
I have never file or organized the books to be filed in the library. I do not go to the library I should though. I do love the library. I do not even know their hours of operation. [teapotmommommerced]
i usually don't go to the Library to make researches when i was still studying. But last year, i worked in our Municipal Library as an Assistant Librarian.. Lol [royce22]
i haven't visit the library for a long long time now... i think i am just too lazy to do it and i am afraid that i will forget to return the items that i borrow... i borrow books often when i was still studying in uni... but not after i graduate... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]
when i was in high school i like visiting library but this time never ever since i am getting old and never done visiting libary anymore. [bombshell]
I like to go to the library. I usually take out books - a couple of novels and one or two books about something I'd like to learn about. [cutepenguin]
I very much enjoy visiting my local library and getting a bunch of cool new books to read. I will probably go to the library today actually because I've got some late books and I need to turn them in and I need to recheck out some new books. A library is a great thing for knowledge and learning. [jambi462]
I use the internet for research these days, I'm so bad! [ElicBxn]
I love going to the library and used to go alot. Our library was closed down for about a year, due to lack of county funding to keep them open. It was really very sad. Finally when they reopened under private management, I was unable to go, because I live way out in the country and I don't have the ability to get to the library anymore. I miss going though. [creativedreamweaver]
Our local library has also had to cut back on the hours because of funding. [ElicBxn]
no I can't say that I ever did that, I wanted at one time to work in a library but I never had the chance to do it. [winterose]
I went and looked briefly for a name, but then grabbed 2 chairs (one for me and one for the roomie) then started alphabetizing. I did work for the library once, a long time ago. [ElicBxn]
I have my own little library and I am so far behind in my reading that it's scary. And now I have just gotten 6 boxes of books from my dad so I will probably never catch up! [dawnald]
my roomie is visually impaired and while she gets the talking books from the talking book program, the audio books are also good to have - and on cd so I can listen in the car [ElicBxn]
I always love to go to the library and "browse" around to see all the different stuff they have in my different interests, unfortunately I'm usually too busy and I just don't get to go very often! sad [sagesunicorn]
I finished Moving Targets and other tales of Valdemar yesterday, but it can be hard to find time to read [ElicBxn]
The Library, what's that?, haha. Goodness, I haven't been to a Library in many, many years. I probably should thought because I always did like it. So much information there and I'd love to start reading again. I miss that. The only time I ever pop in there is to find tax forms for filing, which is coming up soon. Well then, I guess you can say I go once a year, lol! [Kashmeresmycat]
I get mine mailed to me.... and then there's an tax office near me, I guess I never thought of going to the library for tax forms. [ElicBxn]
I used to go to the library all the time, before having kids. It was a place of relative peace, entertainment and inspiration. Actually, that sounds really good- note to self: Join the library and escape the kids! Being a rather non exciting person, the library offered an escape from the four walls of my flat (back in my late teens)where I could be safe from the weather and the lousy music of the guy living upstairs ( I'm not into rap or hip hop). Many assignments for school were completed at our local library, even when I didn't need to be there. It just felt like the place to do some academic pondering and scribbling. These days, a trip to the library would probably result in the riot police showing up to try and take control of my often over enthusiastic kids. No, they aren't the type who's parents just let them run riot, they run riot to upset their ever vigilant parents (what a way to increase your blood pressure). Not only is there the out of control, noisy kid factor, but there is also the problem my girls seem to have with paper. Or should I say the fascination they have with the sound or ripping paper. I suppose I could dump the kids on my husband for a couple of hours and sneak in some 'out of the house and kid free' time. Who knows, I might actually manage to finish writing one of my books. I don't think I have ever tried to order the book trolleys though. I know that I have spent time fixing the books on the shelves that were in the wrong places though. I'm sure the library staff were very grateful to find that half their job had been done for them. [newzealtralian]
Well, then it is practically running in your veins! lol. [newzealtralian]
During my high school days, I love going to libraries. I read books there and enjoy the solitude. As of now I have not visit one for a long time. Maybe I will try next month. I miss it.happy [reckon21]
I do find libraries really interesting, but since I don't have much time to read - too much mylotting - I look forward to our next trip to the library. [ElicBxn]
You are not supposed to reshelve books. I guess you didn't quite do that actually! But any library I've been to have signs on the "to be filed" carts to not reshelve the books. I suppose it's to keep people who don't know how to alphabetize from putting the books back wrong. Well, I have not been to a library in a long long time until two days ago, so maybe things have changed. I went to a little branch library and I got a library card and took out a book and two DVDs. It was kind of fun. I hope I remember to bring them back! The library had a lot of those audiobooks you wrote about. I have never listened to those before. How do you do it? Do you listen in the car or what? I've heard lots of people listen to those. [1gidget]
Oh, and I do listen to them in the car, my roomie will listen to them at work or when she goes to sleep at night. [ElicBxn]
Hello ElicBxn I went to library the day before yesterday, I start to visit the library regularly again after I have stopped going there for almost 5 years. Actually, I like to go to the library, but I always forgot to return books so I prevented to go after I have paid too much on late charges. I began to revisit libraries last year, as I made up my mind to organize myself better which including to manage time and can return books on time. I finally recognize that it is not that difficult to manage my time effectively. I borrowed a book about Pilates this time. Good day and happy myLotting! [HelloMickey]
Yeah, I had a problem with returning them for a while, because I just was also disorganized. but we are doing much better - only missed the week I was in the hospital and the car was in the shop [ElicBxn]
i visited library 2 years back and till now not seen the library.I don't go to library if i want to read any books then i just surf on net and read that book. [chimrani]
