What Are You Currently Reading Right Now

I'm a reader and I'm always on the look out for new and interesting books. This got me curious on what kind of books mylotters are reading at the moment. So please share what book/s are your currently reading, and maybe include a brief description. Looking forward to your answers, and maybe I'll be able to find a book or two to add to my TBR (T0 be read) pile.

I assume this is one of those biographical inspirational stories. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Right now I am rereading the cat who played post office, which I been working on rereading for some time but it is going slow as I been spending every minute online. I also been reading a lot of cook books lately trying to fix my cooking deficiency lol. [Apriljess]
"The Cat Who Played the Post Office?" Who wrote that and what type of book is it? Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

At the moment Ive just started a couple of books because i can't decide. Neil Gaiman's 'Anansi Boys' and Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love and Shadows I think it's called, and perhaps another. But that's because I just finished 2 great book sin a row - Isabel Allende's 'Daughter of Fortune' and then one of Amy Tan's. The former was really good. About a british family in Chile in the 1800s, and then the Californian gold rush. I enjoy books like this because it's full of facts yet the whole story is fictional so it's easy and enjoyable to read. there's loads of culture in there - from england, to chile, to china and the USA. [bojangles88]
That's cool then we have a similar taste in books. I also love Khaled Hosseini if you know him - Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. And Shantaram is a one hit wonder by Gregory something-or-other Smith. And Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Adichie. Hope you like some of those too! [bojangles88]

I am also addicted with reading . I always read some thing and its part of my life . Now these days I am reading a book written by Christopher Hitchens and name is "God is not Great". This book is based on atheism . I like reading spiritual books more than others , but it doesn't mean , I don't read novels. I have just finished reading "pale fire" by Nabokov . That was really a very good book by him after "lolita" . Thanks !!! [sincere4frdship]
I'm not big with non-fiction. I've read "Lolita", but haven't tried Nabokov's other works. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Now, I am reading books on "SHERLOCK HOLMES and the case of the Hound of the BASKERVILLES" by A Conan Doyle. Very interesting and exercited in reading this type of detective stories. [curious888]
I enjoy the Sherlock Holmes' stories. You will enjoy "The Hound of Baskervilles." Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I am really into autobiographies. I am not reading anything right at this moment. I finished two books this weekend though. I read them out loud to my husband too. We were on a really long car trip. I read one on the way there and one on the way back. They were both about Mixed Martial Arts fighters. The first one was about Tito Ortiz. His book was called; This is Gonna Hurt. The second one was about Jens Pulver. His book is titled Little Evil. They are about to be packaged up and sent to my brother is Iraq. happy [moneyandgc]
I totally agree with you, GreenMoo! Thanks for commenting! [wayz12]

Right now I am reading Wednesday Night Witches by Lee Nichols. It's a really good book so far. You should check it out. That author's ancestor was executed for witchcraft during the Salem trials. [ayumitakashi]
It is a fiction book. [ayumitakashi]

Today I began reading a historical novel my neighbor loaned to me. It's called The Pillars of the Earth and was written by Ken Follett. It's set in the Middle Ages, and begins with the hanging of a man wrongly accused of stealing a jeweled chalice from a cathedral. I haven't even finished the first chapter, but it already has me interested. I was stuck in a rut of reading detective novels, mysteries, and true crime. This should be a pleasant departure. Although it looks like there will be plenty of grisly events! [MoonlightSerenade]
Yes. I hope we can exchange lots of reading ideas. [MoonlightSerenade]

I'm currently reading "After Dark" by Haruki Murakami. It's different from the books I usually read but it's good so far. [tasteofink]
Hmm...What genre does it belong? Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Oohh... good idea! I am always looking for some good books to add to my que. I am currently reading "The Pillars Of The Earth" by Ken Follett. It is really good so far, I just really want to get to the end already! I have limited free time so it's taking me forever. It's a pretty long book but I recommend it. [emma412]
Another book from Ken Follet... Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

My dear my all time favorite is the Bible, I hardly do not have anymore time reading other books because I have found the Bible as the best book to get indulge with. I have already loved the Book because it is the word of God and it has become my meditation all day. Meditating on the word of God led me to really fear the Lord and rever Him and this gave me the understanding of the right and wrong. As written in Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path". There is nothing wrong reading other books because it really do help us get entertained, gather information and facts and a lot of other good benefits but if a person has read already lots of books but has not read the Bible... then he is a missing the best book ever! [salonga]
I've read the Bible twice. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Patricia Cornwell "Cause of Death" very interesting and the series of books should be made into a show. [taface412]
yep, and I never was into those before. But like I said it kinda reminds me of a tv show like CSI....Scarpetta is the main character and she is a Medical Examiner....so pretty interesting. [taface412]

I am actually reading a huge book on Mahatma Gandhi. It consists the autobiography of the Mahatma. The Great Gandhi is my idol. I admire Him a lot, his courage, his principles are simply outstanding. I am actually reading this book which is a very good source of inspiration for me. I encourage you to read Mahatma Gandhi's books and apply His great principles in your daily life. You will feel how beautiful life can be. [excellence7]
wow that great kevin. Disciple of Gandhi ji:) [jyoti_medha]

I love reading too. I like novel reading and I can no longer count how many i've already read. I'm not reading anything now though but I just finished a book from Judith McNaught last week. It's a romance novel entitled Whitney, My Love. I like the book. [MGjhaud]
I've read that book a long time ago...and I enjoy romance novels. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I have to ask ... are you a bookcrosser? They're the only people I've ever heard refer to a TBR pile! I'm a voracious reader and am only slowed down by my difficulties in getting my hands on enough books here. I'm currently trying to read my hardbacks as they take up more space than the paperbacks and I'm consdering a house move! Sounds like an odd way to organise one's reading, but no odder than some other systems I've heard! Anyway, that means that the current book on my bedside table is an Inspector Wexford mystery by Ruth Rendell. I can't remember the title, but it seems to be shaping up OK so far. Prior to that I read Good Behaviour by Molly Keane which wasn't something I'd necessarily have chosen for myself but I really, really enjoyed. [GreenMoo]
Check out www.bookcrossing.com. It's a superb idea. [GreenMoo]

Im reading an inspiratinal book right now entitled "I kissed dating goodbye". [bestie]
I assumed its a book about relationships? Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

The last book I finished was Dracula by Bram Stoker. I am ready to start The Strange Case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. I've been into the monster stuff lately, although I tend to read a bit of everything. Before Dracula, I was reading some George Orwell and Voltaire. I love to read and will whatever catches my eye. [vicneedscoffee]
You sound like you are into the classics. Pretty good reading lists you have. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Hey, I see you made it to the 500 point level! I am aspiring to to make it to there by the end of the weekend! As far as reading is concerned, I love to read and read contantly. I am currently reading the 'Left Behind' series (am in book 5 of 12). It is a Christian narrative of the last days. Pretty cool stuff. I am also reading business books, web development, historical and other types. If I may recommend a book, I would steer you toward 'The Automatic Millionaire' by David Bach. He has some easy ways for average people to save/make a million dollars! Very interesting stuff! Any recommendation from you? Please share! [kingcrapper]
Yes, I'm pretty pleased to have reached 500 points. I have a copy of "The Automatic Millionaire" by David Bach. If you like books like that you can try Suzie Ormand "The Courage to be Rich." Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I like to read very much and most of all I like to read fantasy, science fiction and horror books. Right now I'm reading 'The city of dreaming books'. Some kind of fantasy, rather interesting I should say. [INGA832]
I don't do much horror, but I fantasy or paranormal books. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I am currently reading a book about folklore and ghosts of the east coast and a magazine about adventure travel. [angemac23]
I used to be fascinated with such topics. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Currently I'am reading The Hound of the Baskervilles is a crime novel which involves suspense, Holmes intelligence show in his detective profession. Every chapter has a new pin point to a character. I've mot yet completed the novel, 2 more chapters to go ..I'am enjoying to the fullest... [sriki2526]
Second person to be reading "The Hound of Baskervilles." The stories of Sherlock Holmes are always entertaining. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Hmm...second time I've had James Patterson recommended. I will definitely check him out. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Now I began to read "The Secret".I heard that is a good book, well I hope so. [as2006]
I've seen the movie, but I haven't picked up the book. Let me know if it's worth reading. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Right now I am reading "Her Father's House" by Belva Plain. I am actually re-reading it, not because it was so great, but I couldn't find anything else. It's not bad, an interesting story but could have been written better. [fluffysue]
I've read Belva Plain before, and I would say she is okay. Nothing that will make me run to the bookstore and buy though. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

surrenderi am currently reading my bible telling about loyalty and faithfulness and it is from the book of matthew 25:14-30, and it says: 14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talents[a] of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money. 19"After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.' 21"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' 22"The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.' 23"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' 24"Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.' 26"His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. 28" 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. 29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 30And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'rasp [okwusman1]
Second vote for the Bible. I've read it already. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

hello...nice discussion currently i am in a process of moving from E quadrant to B quadrant...hehehe. kinda hard to understand, if you haven't read Robert Kiyosaki's book. I highly recommend this to anyone who is bored and not bored about their job, to those who want to start their own biz, apparently to everybody. Why? Just read it and you will know why, it is awesome.. Book 1 Rich Dad Poor Dad Book 2 Cash flow quadrant If you are done...i have more...good luck! [sapphire_b]
He is pretty popular among the multi-marketing group.. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I'm reading Seventh Scroll by Wilbur Smith. The follow up to River God. Hadn't read any of his books till a few years ago and now i would have to say he's one of my best authors. Always incredibly difficult to put down. Have read maybe 15 but not a poor one among em. [Lee768]
Sounds promising...I'll check him out. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Hi wayz. Time to time I like to read books that can relax my mind, so now I'm reading an Aghata Christie's book "The Clocks". I like this author and this story is a Hercule Poirot series. cheers [teka44]
I used to read Agatha Christie's books. I like those with Hercule Poirot or with Miss Marple. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I am currently reading "The Woods" by Harlan Coben, who happens to be one of my favorite authors right now. He has written some very good suspense thriller: Gone for Good and Tell No One, to name 2 of them. The Woods is about a states attorney who's teenage sis and her b.f. disappeared from a camp when the main character was a "camp counselor" as a teen. A total of 4 kids disappeared that night, although only 2 bodies were found. Now, it's 15 or 20 years later or something like that and a guy was found murdered. Well, it's emerging it might be the boyfriend of the states attorney's sister--in other words, he was never really killed, just missing all those years. The plot thickens when it becomes apparent that his parents refused to identify the body as their son, even when the states' attorney later confronted them about it. I am about 3/4 of the way through and there's alot of stuff happening in the story. I highly recommend this book! Happty reading! PearlGrace P.S. I recently finished "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert, and it was fantastic!! [PearlGrace]
I have always heard such great things about Harlen Coben. i'm going to have to start looking in to reading his stuff. [dfn12968]

right now im not reading any books...i read usually here on the net but not novel but some newsletters i have subscribed in my emails..got no time in reading i guess at the moment..but loves reading books ..that is my favorite pastime before the emergence of internet.. [vanities]
Though I'm a self-confessed internet addict, I will always find time to read my books. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Im reading actually a book from Francoise Sagan, a french author comes from Frances. The title is : A certain smile. Really good for the moment. I read a couple of her, and was pretty good in general. [julie85]
First time I've heard of her. What genre does she write? Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I love mysteries set in the past. From ancient Greece, Egypt, Rome and England just to name a few. Of course I expect them to be accurate in there history. Ann Perry is a very good author when it come to facts but then I find most good authors make sure their facts are as right as they can be. My husband and son were policemen before they retired so it was a shock to me to read that the police in England had to use the back doors to enter a home of the rich. When you read about those times you understand how far we have come it solving crimes. [patms1]
sorry add comment at wrong place it was just before you lol. I was speaking about Sagan [julie85]

I've been reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It's pretty good. I've not read it before and I'm 54!! My sis loves the book. I recently read a book by Valerie Bertinelli and one about a lady who used to live in the Fundamentalists of Latter Day Saints. It's called Escape.....I believe her last name is Jessop. It was very good. I read that book about 3 months before the children were removed from the FLDS "compound" in Texas. I have a few books waiting to be read. One is The Hope by Herman Wouk. I read his Caine Mutiny. That was a very good book. [bluerubymoon53]
I prefer Wuthering Heights of Emily Bronte over her sister's Jane Eyre. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I,m reading "The Plains Of Passage" by Jean M. Auel. It is the fourth book series of "The Clan Of The Cavebear" Jean M. Auel returns us to the earliest days of humankind...and the captivating adventures of the courageous heroine called Ayla.Jean M. Auel's enthralling earth's childern series of Ice Age Europe. [julyspring]
BlueRubyMoon, I love your avatar. Those kitties are so cute. [wayz12]

I am reading Twilight by Stephenie Meyer! Sorry! I can't be original in your discussion because you have already seen what I am reading! LOL! But, I wanted to touch bases with you and, maybe open the world of Stephenie Meyer to anyone who may read the responses in your discussion! [cortjo73]
LOL! My pleasure and, there really are no words to say how great that series is! I finished Eclipse and now I am anxiously waiting for Breaking Dawn to be released August 2nd so Bella and Edward's story can continue. I swear that it feels like someone cut off my arm now that I don't have them to read about until August! LOL! [cortjo73]

I'm currently reading Blood Canticle, by Anne Rice. It's a part of her Vampire Chronicles. It's the last book in the series, which makes me sad, because I feel like I know the characters, and I just want to stay with them! lol. It's okay though, I'm going to read her other series, Lives of the Mayfair Witches, next. I love paranormal genre books, as well as horror, mystery, and suspense, and every once in a blue moon a good romance (Nicholas Sparks is great for those!). I have so many books to read though, my TBR pile is probably approaching 100 books, or it could be over that for all I know, lol. Bad enough, I keep getting more books in the mail from paperbackswap, sometimes 3 or 4 packages a day that have anywhere from 1-5 books in them, lol. [jenni7202]
To be honest, I have not read a single Anne Rice book. I've heard great things about here, but I don't know which one to pick first. Any recommendations? Also, how does paperbackswap work? Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

hi wayz. i'm re-reading james clavell's "the art of war". just brushing up on some war tactics. it's a good one, i'd recommend it if you haven't read it yet. [allen0187]
I've read his "Noble House" and "Shogun." Great writer. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Book two of the Tielmaran Chronicles: by Katya Reimann Right now I am reading the second book in this trilogy. It is called A Tremor in the Bitter Earth. It follows the life of twins who have magical powers, and as the Heroines they have to keep an unfriendly territory from invading their homeland. They must compete with cruel rulers, assassins, and spies. [jer31558]
Not familiar with the author, but sounds intriguing. I'll check it out, since I love book series. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

This morning I just finished reading God's Secretaries: The Making of the King James Bible by Adam Nicolson. Now I'm reading The Greatest Baseball Stories Ever Told. Should be a fun book, but since I just started reading it this morning, I'm not very far into it. [AmbiePam]
I assume these are non-fiction books? Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Right now I am reading Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz. It is an easy light read. I am enjoying it and find it oddly funny. If you like Dean Koontz then I think you would like this as well. [vicki2876]
I've heard good things about him, but I haven't read any of his books. I'm adding him to my list of authors to check out. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Right now I am reading a book called Spooker, by Dean Ing. I am 55 pages into it. It defeniatly isn't bad right now...but there has really been a *gasp* moment lol. There's been action...but just nothing that really made me intrigued. Sometimes when I read a book something will happen that, quite literally, makes me unable to put the book down! It hasn't happened yet with this book, but it still has a lot of time to do it. It's about people who kill government agents, their "clients." And they kill one agent that has a few friends, who'll stop at nothing to kill them for it. [LilyoftheThorns]
Not familiar with author. Is this an espionage/thriller book? Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I just finished Jim Butchers, Harry Dresend Files. Its about a Wizard that lives in Chicago. If you like adventure stories that are different this is the series for you. I am next going to read Lee Childs Jack Reacher book. [patms1]
I've added the Harry Dresden series to my TBR list. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

rolleyesHey there I am about to start one of my Goosebumps books. [loveyoohbaby]
A quick, easy read can fe fun, too. [wayz12]

I am reading Undead and Uneasy by Mary Janice Davidson. It's a romantic paranormal comedy about a vampire queen. It's part of a really fun series. I think this one is book 5. [dfn12968]
Already on my TBR list, although I haven't read any of her books yet. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm into PNR books, too. [wayz12]

I just started reading a book by Judy Conner called "Southern Fried Divorce" - supposedly a true story about Judy and her now ex, and the story is about how she still loves him and the things they do together, some hilarious, some sounding more like fiction, along with a few recipes throughout the book (one being a very tasty sounding recipe for roast beef she would make exclusively for "the brown dog" as a Christmas gift. I'm not even halfway through, but the way she talks about her husband makes me wonder why she thought divorce was a good idea. But, there's always things we don't see in every relationship, right? But, I hope I enjoy it - it sounds so far like a fun read. [jerzgirl]
Well, sounds like you are enjoying the book. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I usually read a bunch of books at any one time. Right now I'm reading "Wizards first Rule" by Terry Goodkind. It's not so great, so I might not finish it. Kind of too gross for me too. I'm also reading a science fiction anthology about sci fi short stories from the 60's to the 80's, but I can't remember what it's called. [karathrace]
Same here. Currently reading three books, Forbidden Magic by Cheyenne McCray, HotBlooded which is an anthology, and Mind Game by Christine Feehan. Plus I'm listening in my car Burn and Sizzle by Jayne Anne Krentz and on my laptop Laurell K. Hamilton's Blood Noir. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Hi Wayz12. I'm currently reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. The story is pretty good. It's about a girl who was raised by her aunt after her father died. The aunt did not like her and she sent Jane to a school for "orphaned" girls. Jane became a teacher at this school and then became a nanny to a girl whose father is raising her after her mother died. Anyway, it has been a bit hard for me to get through the book because of all the descriptive words that are used for places, people, and events. Finally, after about three-fourths of the way through the book, an event has developed that I was sure would happen. Jane Eyre is one of the classics of all time. My sister loves this book and when I finish it, I will give it to her. [bluerubymoon53]
Second reader for Jayne Eyre. I guess, you can never go wrong with a classic. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

Right now I am reading 'Junkie Pilgrim' by Wayne Grogan. It is the story of a drug addict and his life on the streets of Sydney. It is a very confronting story that colourfully details the life of a junkie and shows what it is like to live on the dark side. So far I've only read a couple of chapters and it is difficult to read at times but also hard to put down! It makes me realise that I have a good life and I'm very glad that I don't have to deal with the demons of drug addictiona nd everything that goes along with it including murder, jail and hopelessness. [coffeeshot]
Sounds like a emotionally difficult read. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I am reading < Sherlock Holmes and the case of the Hound of the Baskervilles > by A. Conan Doyle. It is adetective story, very interesting !happy [curious888]
Third vote for Sherlock Holmes. I guess the great detective never goes out of style..LOL.. thanks for sharing! [wayz12]

I'm currently reading The Zahir by Paulo Coelho. He's recently been added to my list of favourite authors after reading a couple of his books. I'm really drawn to his characters and the messages in his books. If you're after an interesting list of books, I recommend visiting www.geocities.com-misschichette-1001books_spreadsheet.xls The spreadsheet lists all the books and authors that make up the list of 1001 Books You Should Read Before You Die. This spreadsheet is actually where I came across Paulo Coelho, amongst others. Although there are many books on the list that I'm unlikely to read, there are also many that have caught my interest that I wouldn't have known about otherwise. [kriszelunka]
There is a discussion group on goodreads.com, that has made it their goal to read all the 1001 books on that list. Thanks for sharing! [wayz12]
