to all you readers out there, what are you reading right now?
currently i am reading the autobiography of Richard Branson. for those of you who dont know who he is, he is the creater of Virgin Records, Virgin Mobile, Virgin in Space and so forth.
my brother and my dad read it first and thought it was a very inspiring book so i checked it out. its about 600 pages or so but from THE first page you're already sucked in LOL
the way he wrote it is like hes actually talking to you in person, very interesting book, amazing stories and its one of those rags to riches stories.

I have finished the twilight Saga and I am now reading the pdf version of Midnight Sun. Bummer! It has only 5 chapters. I will need to start rereading the first book all over again. happy I'll be reading also my harry Potter collection soon. [jammyt]
thats nice that books can bring people together through discussing the characters and plot scenarios!! my dad and i have that, we recommend books to each other and talk about them if we've read the same book :) [cndn420]
Well, I was reading through The literary allusions of the suburbium of Rome and their social implications and now I'm looking at a bunch writing from Catullus only because they mentioned Catullus 44 as a reference and so I being the curious sort looked it up and yeah. Thats whats happening. [cupkitties]
is that book good? okey i will read that book soon.thanks for your information...do have a favourite book and you read it more than once time [magnifico19]

Hi Cndn, I'm currently reading Rope by Michael Newton, a rather disturbing story about a serial killer in the 1950s. [lazeebee]
sounds like it would keep you reading, is it a true story? [cndn420]
I have just finished reading Suze Orman's 9 Steps to Financial Freedom. This is teh kind of book I would read more than once, but since it is a library book, I have to return it soon. I find so many great advice from her books. I intend to read all her books, if I could find them at the library. It has set me thinking about my finances, or lack of it. Many succesful books are written in this kind of conversational style, like they are really talking to you. Rags to richs stories are always popular too. [SydneyHazelton]
ive never read any of Suze Orman's books but i have seen her on Oprah, shes a very passionate talker so i can see her writing style to be good. wow, library books, i havent checked out a book from the library in forever!!! that brings me back LOL [cndn420]
currently i am reading Natural OrderMage by L.E. Modesitt Jr. it is the first book of a new "adventure" in the Saga of Recluce series, one of my favorites i might add lol! i already cant wait for the second book to come out and im not even halfway through with this one! Modesitt is great writer. he can give details to point where you can easily visualize everything he is talking about. though i have been told by others who have tried to read his books that they find it annoying or overwhelming. he is also a great creator in a "new take" on good and evil, and the both the differences and the balances require by each in order for both to continue to exist. not to mention well thought out characters with rounded personalities. [CinderInMySoul]
ive never heard of the Recluce series, is it a trilogy? i like things that have a little bit more detail so you can really visualize it, but i can also see how people can think it would be annoying, because you can't use as much imagination with too much detail. [cndn420]
Currently I'm reading this post :D But before that I was reading an article on Adobe Flash... I like Animation a lot so am interested in flash movies which rules the net today.... [dhoomagain4u]
LOL well i hope this post had entertained you and kept your interest for the 2 minutes it took to read!! LOL you want to have a career in flash animation? [cndn420]
I'm reading "the monk who sold his ferrari", finishing it soon. I just bought Snowball (about Warren Buffett) and will read it after this. I might get the book about Richard Branson after this, depending on my budget. My favourite book so far (for 2008) has to be Last Lecture. [daydreamer20]
whats Last Lecture? so far the book is really inspiring so i recommend reading it if you can [cndn420]
Right now I am reading The 3 mistakes of my life. It is almost going to be finished. Its a nice story about three friends.3 mistakes of one of the guys. [parulg]
for some reason reading your post reminded me of a book and im not sure why LOL but i'll suggest it to you cause its a good book. its called 5 People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom [cndn420]
my answer is Oscar Wilde's 'Paradoxes'; he's a genius and mastermind of literary art [Gorzata]
can U possibly remember the name of that book that U were forced to read? maybe it was one of his minor works [Gorzata]
Umm I am reading the discussion you posted there lol (jkjk) I'm not really reading anything, I usually don't read books too much. But the latest book I have actually read was a foreign book written by Japanese author (the korean version). I know the title and I know what it means, but I don't know if there is an english version of that book. Basically it's about how he talks about his entire life as a disabled person (not mentally, but physically) his arms and legs are like 3 to 4 inches long and he talks about his own life with that kind of body. I really enjoyed it, and I think it'd be nice if there was english version of it. anyway, yea that's the latest book I have read. Before that, it was probably "Tuesdays with Morrie" if you know what it's about.. happy mylotting :) [animeniak]
the book about the disabled guy sounds good, if there was an english version of it i would read it. books like that make you look at things/people in such a totally different way after your done which is a nice, making one think is always a good thing [cndn420]
At the moment I am reading Wideacre, a Philippa Greggory book. It is OK, but not as good as some of the other books from her that I have read. It is pretty weird, it is one of three so I am not sure how the others are going to be when I have finished this one. [gemini_rose]
i love books that don't end the way you thought they would, predictable books aren't fun to read [cndn420]
Right now I am reading "Lili" by Annie Wang. I read it once before many years ago and found it while I was packing to move and decided to read it again. It's about a 24 year old Chinese woman living in 1980's Beijing. She is labeled as a "hoolagane" and tends to be a free spirit....she meets and starts dating an American Journalist which could mean more toruble for her. It's really good...and goes into great detail of Chinese colture in the '80s. [trudyanndac]
i love books that bring in the true culture of different eras in different years. really makes you think about what changed or didnt change in a country over years. i may head to the book store today so ill check that book out and see if they have it. thanks!! [cndn420]
Right now I'm struggling to finish a book by Nelson Demille - The Charm School. I don't know what your opinion is this way but this book was not what I expected from the begining. Then it became drawn out for a good way through and now that its finishing I find its definitely not his best. I thoroughly enjoyed The Gold Coast by this same author and wrongfully believed this book would be just as good. You live and learn. [Bluepatch]
for a while i was into murder mystery books and i was reading a lot from the author Daphne du Maurier and the first book i read of hers, called "Rebecca" was incredible, couldnt put it down and i was talking about it for days. so when i was done, i went and bought 2 other books from her with huge high hopes they were gonna be incredible like the other ones...little did i know they sucked and i was extremely disappointed LOL like you said, you live and learn and share your experiences with others [cndn420]
I'm reading a novel about the life of elizabeth the first, i'm really into that time period so i'm really enjoying it! I already know the story but nice to hear it from a different perspective! I don't often read autobiographies, although it sounds as though richard branson's is quite good! I read russell bradn's autobiography a while ago, i liked that, it was written just the way he speaks and you could imagine him sitting there telling you the story - which is a nice thought! lol xxx [Munchkin547]
hehe i do lke biographies when they're about people that i am really interested in|!! xxx [Munchkin547]
A booked called "Truth or Dare" written by Jayne Ann Krentz. I'm now in the middle chapter two and I must admit It'd has keeping me on my seat wondering what going to happen to next. It's a wonderful book and I am enjoying it to the fullest. happy myLottinghappy [snowqueen2008]
books that constantly keep you on the edge are written wonderfully!! thats what a book should be, always keeping the reader wanting more [cndn420]
right now I am reading new moon book 2 in the twlight serries its a rela good book [enola1692]
my daughter had to do abook report on it at school an we read it together now both my daughters an I are hooked [enola1692]
Now I am reading a autobiography of Johnny Cash. I have always enjoyed his music. The book seems to be good thus far. I have just started the book. Johnny Cash was a good and decent man.He is greatly missed. [SuzyQ12]
Johnny Cash...great musician. His autobiography would be rather interesting, even though we know the jist jist of his career and life, getting more in depth would be even better. he will be greatly missed [cndn420]
I'm reading a book by an internet friend called Invisible Hand. It's a fictional book about a society (the US) that does away with the "physical object of money." [kenzie45230]
wow!! i cant imagine that EVER being true LOL but its definitely an interesting perspective [cndn420]
i have recently read Alexander the Great by Vallerio Massimo Manfredi, i think that's how his name is written, it's a really wonderful book, it starts from when Alexander was born, then to his childhood to manhood and to his last moment, the ending was very touching, at least for me. [SylverDeimos]
that sounds interesting. love when the books really hit you personally [cndn420]
Right now I'm reading 'The Waste Lands' by Stephen King. It's the third installment of the Dark Tower series. I've tried to read this series for years but I could never get into it so I finally just made myself plow through the first one. After I got past that one I started to really get into the series. I would definitely recommend it! [jesssp]
thanks ill keep that in mind [cndn420]
Hi-Im into Paolo Coehlo's books right now. Quite interresting. [chingbeem]
never heard of the alchemist... [cndn420]

well i hope my post has been different in nature for you LOL [cndn420]
I'm currently reading Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer. It's the #1 best selling book worldwide and very enjoyable to read. I am currently upto chapter 13, confessions. People say it's the best chapter in the book, and I do find it interesting. [pweety_princess]
you're among one of the many readers into that series! the more i see/hear about them the more interested i get cause nothing about it really interested me to begin with [cndn420]
well i am reading a PDF softcopy of a scouting book which i downloaded from scoutscan.Well i am a scouter myself, so it is particularly relevant to me to read such books on topics which interest me.I regularly read such PDF books simply because it is free and rather convenient. The content in such books is also relatively good so its a plus point. [soccnut]
i've never read a book on PDF, i prefer to have the book itself, and i like to have them on my shelf :) thanks for your response [cndn420]
I'm reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I loved her Twilight series so I immediately got the ebook version of the Host. But I haven't been able to finish it. I started reading the first few chapters and it's so complicated. I get lost. I don't know what she's saying so I might just discontinue reading haha. [mimico]
haha ive discontinued a read before because i was trying TOO hard to get into it or it was a horrible book. but i suggest to keep reading it because ive ONLY heard good things about the series :) [cndn420]
I just read Stanley Karnow's "VIETNAM A HISTORY" interesting and very detailed information about what went on behind the scenes. It kinda matches up with today's war in Iraq. [AcreativeMind]
Your welcome, have a good weekend. [AcreativeMind]
What is the autobiography called? I love reading autobiographies and yes, it is very inspiring to see where these successful came from and how their life began. Currently I am reading 'Irish Peacock & Scarlet Marquess' by Merlin Holland, who is Oscar Wilde's grandson. It is basically a recount of the trial that led him to receive two years hard labour for having a relationship with the Marquess' son. [coffeeshot]
the autobiography is called "Losing My Virginity" and so far so good. the way it's written is just great because i cant put it down, and its a pretty hefty book LOL the book your reading sounds extremely interesting, the perspective from his point of view is probably really interesting! i think im gonna go pick that up..thanks!! [cndn420]
Some days ago, my foreign colleagues brought me some english, because he knows that i like english very much. They are Ok magazine,Hello magazine, but most of all is "newsweek" now as long as i have time I will sink in it and can't get myself out of it. Because it can improve my english reading and bring me more and more. [LingoWang]
good luck on your english!! thanks for your response! [cndn420]
I just started reading The Golden Compass. I loved the Narnia books when I was younger, and had just thoroughly enjoyed re-reading them when The Golden Compass movie came out. It was mentioned that it was similar so I figured I'd give it a shot, so far so good! Before that I read "The Barmaid's Brain", which sounds like a horror story (lol) but is really a compilation of stories about odd scientific studies, like how waitresses can memorize a room full of orders or how a single species of birds in a small town all learned how to open the caps on milk bottles back when people got there milk delivered. I had never heard of the Twilight series, but so many people here have mentioned it, maybe I should check it out! [kimny72]
i never read all the books in the Narnia series, only the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in grade 5 LOL that was a ways back but i still remember it. good book! [cndn420]
I am reading "Sleepers" by Lorenzo Carcaterra. It is an interesting autobiography about a boy who becomes a man in a home for juvenile offenders. It is said to be a true story. The movie is fascinating to watch as well. [celtickid]
never heard of it, sounds like an interesting biography, ill check it out. thanks for the recommendation! [cndn420]

I am currently reading several books at a time. One being 'The Host' Stephanie Meyer, who is the author of The Twilight series. It is about aliens. I know that seems weird in of itself. But it is well written. I am also reading 'World Without End' by Ken Follett. It is the sequel to The Pillars of The Earth which was a really fasinating book. I learned alot about the history of Cathedrals. I am not a Roman Catholic but it surely has made me appreciate all the work it took to build these beautiful old Cathedrals hundreds of years ago. [SketcherD]
Oh yes they are both really good books. [SketcherD]
Now I currently reading "Little Indiscretions", a novel by Carmen Posadas. I enjoy the plot, but sometimes I get confused too. [Sherlockindo]

That sounds like a really cool book. I'll have to check it out sometime. Currently I'm reading "Expensive People" by Joyce Carol Oates. It centers around a child being a murderer and also explores class, affluency, the suburban life, and other issues. [thinksf]
child murderer? interesting, psychology was my major in university and its funny because most murderers start when they are young and usually practice on animals by torturing them and such :( [cndn420]
I am also reading an autobiography! I'm reading 'ME' by Katharine Hepburn. I bought it at a garage sale, didn't think it would be all that great of a read, but I was so wrong! The book is written as though Ms. Hepburn is speaking to you, which makes it absolutely fascinating. It is really a very great book to read! [rowantree]
Ms. Hepburn had an amazing life, id love to read that book sometime [cndn420]
I'm still on "Further Along the Road Less Traveled - The Unending Journey Towards Spiritual Growth" by M. Scott Peck. I'm almost done. It has become quite clear to me that the problem of pain lies in our focus on religion, and yet we so need it. We need a faith, a belief in something, and yet we realize by doing so that our suffering is a result of our very desire for enlightenment. A koan, a story, may help to illustrate the point: A student comes to a monastery, after much travel and weary as all get out, he knocks on the door. This is a large wooden door, that has a small window. After a while, the window opens, and an old man peaks through the window. The old man, who is in fact the teacher, says, "What are you seeking?" The student says, "Enlightenment." Then the old man says, "Have you eaten today?", and the student says, "Why, yes." The old man says, "Go wash your pots, then.", and quickly closes the window. So the student does as he was told. He scrubs his pots, though he had already washed them, and goes back to the door, and knocks again. "Very well, then," says the teacher, "you may enter." "Did you wash your pots?", asks the teacher. "Why, yes, I did.", says the student. "Let me see them.", says the teacher. "These are filthy!", says the teacher after examining them, and he throws them onto the ground. "Go wash your pots!", exclaims the teacher. So, the student, faithful as always, goes and washes his pots. He scrubs every last little bit of grime and dirt from them, and presents them to his teacher once again. The teacher looks at them, and says, "These pots are filthy. I said to go wash them!" The student then turns to his teacher and says, "You are no teacher! You cannot teach me anything!" The teacher then, calmly, tells him, "Now you are ready to learn." This koan, or story, teaches many things: we can acheive enlightenment by mundane duties, such as washing dishes, or changing a baby's diaper, or dropping off a child for a soccer match. We can find that certain inspiration by living a very boring life in many people's eyes. We can walk along the path of the saints, themselves, by just doing what we normally do. We don't have to be special, and we don't have to be "big-time". We just have to do what we know to do, and yet, then the teacher comes along, and rejects all that we have done. There is another old saying, "If you see a Buddha, kill him." Western culture does not accept this. It is like saying, "If you see the Christ, kill him." But, there is a lot of wisdom in that saying. It is not a call to violence, it is a call to find wisdom from within by not seeking enlightenment, or spiritual growth, from outside. Rather, from the inside, we find that which we seek. No one can answer that for you, but you must answer it for yourself. The teacher was right - if you are seeking enlightenment, or spiritual growth, then go wash your dishes, or go change you baby's diaper, or go feed your cat. Take out the trash. Mow your lawn. Fix the holes in your fence, or run a mile or two. All of these things will eventually lead to growth, and ultimately, Salvation. I am a Christian, not a Buddhist, but I can recognize the lessons that it teaches as being valid, and helpful. The Buddhist may have it over on the Christian because he has learned the simplicity of life, whereas the Christian makes things too complicated. To meet a teacher, and to still find inner wisdom - that is the art of real spiritual growth, of enlightenment. We're not talking about physically ending someone's life, but rather talking about being whole and feeling safe and secure. Whenever you meet someone who is outside of yourself that claims to be a teacher, and perhaps is, you must, as a matter of further growth, elect instead to reject their initial teaching. Your pots are clean, you matters are taken care of, your lawn is mowed. Your child is dropped off, your appointments are kept, your trash is taken out. And if the teacher, whoever he or she is, doesn't accept what you have faithfully done, then they don't deserve to be recognized as a teacher. Then, and only then, can you be ready to learn. And grow. Mundane things do count, but if we are to spiritually grow, and find enlightenment, it must be from within. [keymandan]
A book on the justice system of the medieval times, the bible, and a cookbook for kids (so I can teach my daughter to cook.) [DaddyOfTheRose]
nice!! justice system of the medieval times? now thats interesting! [cndn420]
well i'm also reading but it's not a book. hehehe i'm actually reading manga online, japanese comics for those of you who don't know. and i'm reading lots of different ones at one go, as most of them need to be updated now. that's how i usually pass my time online, besides mylotting and playing MMORPG of course. i'm just really addicted to them, not sure if it'll still continue in the future but for now, they're the deal for me. i'm too busy to go to the library to borrow books hehe [sminut13]
thanks for your response! [cndn420]
I Am reading, Earth in upheaval, by I.Velikovsky. very interesting indid! with all this talk about global warming [ nowadays] it really make you think! the world is and will be for ever changing, I don't think man and it's technology can stop that. [alottodo]
man and technology can make a difference but what people need to know is that it isnt gonna happen overnight, if we start now it'll take like 50 years, but everything goes in a circle, so whats happened before will happen again ya know? [cndn420]
I'm currently reading a book called, Fifties Flashback, a Nostalgia Trip. Its a look into the life and culture of the 1950s. That Richard Branson book sounds very interesting. He is quite an inspiration. I'll definately have to check that one out. Thanks [ThirdMillion]
awesome! thanks for your response :) [cndn420]
I am reading The Redeeming by Jennifer Ashley. It's the fifth in a seven book series. It's paranormal romance; vampires, demons, etc. It's very good so far, but I'm not all that far in to it yet. It's a great series, though. [itsmefaith]
it seems like the series and books including vampires and paranormal romances are the in thing to read these days. ive never been into the vampire paranormal type books, but ive heard good things. thanks for your response! [cndn420]
Thanks for the recommendation. I've several books going. Who The Hell is Pansy O'Hara is a hilarious book about authors and little-known facts about well-known books like Gone With the Wind and The Cat in the Hat. Also reading Secret Lives of Great Authors. It's along the same vein as the first book. I used to write an American Fiction Authors column where I researched similar topics. Too bad someone beat me to publishing books on them. I'm also reading Money and the Law of Attraction. Right now night reading any fiction, which is unusual for me. [KATRINKA]
Katrinka! You wrote right now I am not reading any fiction. That is my position most of the time. I read fiction by recommendation. The non-fiction books I pick up by myself.Nice to know you are the exact opposite of me, and you rcurrent position is the opposite of your usual self. [GADHISUNU]
I am reading Schindler's List. I saw the movie years ago, but only now was able to get my hands on the book. Loving it from the very first page [gtdonna]
ive never read the book but i saw the movies years ago just like you. i can imagine the book being more descriptive and more in depth. let me know how it goes :) [cndn420]
Hello cdnd420, It looks like a book worth reading. I am reading the Bible, the old testament and I am learning a lot. I am reading it as a novel and not like as a faithful but it is making me more faithful. There are a lot of questions that race to your mind and it make you look for the answer which is I think is very good for my faith. I am also reading a novel by John Grisham, the Brethren and so far read the first few pages. Regards. ninjaninjaninja [robert19ph]

Right now I am reading "The Autobiography of a Yogi" by Yogananda Paramahamsa. It has been acclaimed one of the most inspiring original and experiential account of a very esoteric science like Yoga. For my interest in the subject it is really surprising that I did not read it long long back. [GADHISUNU]
normally something like that wouldn't interest me to pick it up and read but surprisingly it sounds like i would enjoy reading it so thanks!! if i see if ill definitely take a look at it [cndn420]
I am reading a book for my college class Human Growth and Development. I dont really have much time for reading other books right now. [my2boys]
