What Is Your Choice.... The Book Or The Movie

Alot of us has read a book and years later they are turned into a movie version of the book. In some cases, the movie may be viewed as better because it really visualizes what the author may have been trying to get across.... wink however, alot of times we miss alot of the meanings that are in depth written in the book and you really feel as though you are experiencing it when you read a book... happy I love to read...hence my name here... and I really experience a book more than the movie because as you read it you visualize it in your head your own way... but everyone perceives things differently... so do you prefer the movie or the book?

responses and comments:

I prefer to read the book first. The reason I prefer this is because I'd rather read the book and get a picture in my mind before actually being "shown" the story. I like to use my imagination and create the characters and setting in my mind. My imagination always comes up with something better than the movie! haha And then I'm often disappointed in the movie. [Jennlk84]
I havent read very many books before the movie comes out, as I tend to stick with romance books... and historicals... but I am going to start looking into expanding what I read... thanks for the response. [bookreadermom08]

I prefer to books too. When read the books, all the words apear in front of me,there is the moving pictures like a moive in my mind. The moive was direct by myself ,no super star,no super director. It is my moive. [111flylcx]
that is so true, and I agree with that too!! it is your own personal movie when you read a book!! thanks for the response. [bookreadermom08]

I prefer the book, myself. The book tells you more than the movie does. When you read the book before seeing the movie, you know more about what's going on in the movie. It makes the movie more enjoyable, too, I think. There have been times when I saw the movie before I read the book. That was because I didn't get a chance to read the book for one reason or another. I really do like to read, too. I used to own a bookstore, as a matter of fact. Kathy. happydroolwink [cyrus123]
I don't blame you. I don't like to get rid of my used books, either. There are so many good stories I like to read over and over. I'm the same way with my records. I have quite a record collection, lol too. Kathy. [cyrus123]

In my opinion, I think it depends on what we read or watch the first. If we read the book and then turn to the movie, we usually find that the movie is disapointed. In contrast, if we watch the movie first and then read the book, we often find the book is not as wondeful as the movie. [wanghui0210]
oh thats a very good point... I havent read many books that have been turned into movies... but I have read alot of them that I would love to see as a movie, but it would have to be exactly like the book or they would ruin it....LOL lol thanks for the response. [bookreadermom08]

if i see the movie before i read the book it is a good movie but if i have read the book than the move is not good because it leaves out so much that the book covers [anniefannie]
I know, because in the book you know exactly what the characters are thinking, or it will give you a brief past detail that goes along with it and if you are watching the movie, you may not get that info!! rolleyes thanks for the response. [bookreadermom08]

i like reading book more than watching movies.movie is just for entertainment but book give us lots of knowledge and idea about the things which are unknown to us before reading the book.so i prefer book but also i like to watch movies.i go for movie twice or thrice a month. [rehan_andaman]
oh that is very cool you get to the movies that much...good for you!! I know alot of people are usually disappointed with movies after you read the book... LOLlol thanks for responding. [bookreadermom08]

It depend on interest, reading the book is something like gaining knowledge and it is treated as a habit and movies are basically seen for entertainment purpose. [pawan80]
that is very true!!! I agree, if I read a book it is for myself, but if we rent a movie it is for the family to be entertained...thanks for the response. [bookreadermom08]

It's difficult to tell whether liking reading or movie. you know, some book is more wonderful than movie, but some is in opposition. Sensitive movie or book is better than ones that be done by stunt in computer only. Those arouse our sympathizes is reflected from real life which ,maybe,we can come across. Reading a good book or movie are all set my heart at rest. [betsyhu]
that is true, they both have there own purpose... thanks for the response. [bookreadermom08]

Well my choice is book, i agree with you that some written words that needs explanation are not all visualize in the movie. It's better to read the abook first before you watched the movie. [macor07]
yes, it helps to have a little background from the book so that the movie has more meaning to it. thanks for responding. [bookreadermom08]

Due to my busy schedule, I prefer to watch movie if I want to catch up with any latest book titles. Since, it will instill in my memory... Afterwards, I will read the book about that movie, in that way, i will read faster and will expand my views. For me, it is easier for me to do that, so it will improve my vocabulary in english. [itsonlyndream]
I think that is great you do it that way and yes, what a wonderful way to help improve your english... good for you!! thanks for responding. [bookreadermom08]

i prefer reading the book and then watching the movie. just recently, i got a chance to re-read the Jack Higgins book 'the eagle has landed'. after that, i inciedently got the same movie and i must tell you that it was a total disapointment. somehow, the characters in my mind were totally different and the fact that much editing had gone to the movie made it very unsatisfactory. a book for me anyday! [pree70]
thanks a lot for the 'best response' tag. have a great time at mylot. [pree70]

hi bookreadermom, i prefer to read books rather than watching movies.but if i like the book and if its released as a movie i watch the movie too. [vnrsud]
Yeah, I think reading the book first is more important, but then there are times when I dont know about the book until after I have seen the movie....LOL Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

I choose book first because its give knowledge and entertainment both books are very imp parts of our life.its give a lot of moral things and useful knowledges. [ankitnavgwal01]
I love to read the books... all books... they open us up to so many things and lets us use our imagination to what the movie may be like... and then when we see the movie in someone elses view we are disappointed... confused Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

People that say "I like the book better then the movie" have acctually never seen/read movies/books that this would apply to. "A Movie is based on a book" true "But a book is in practice never based on a movie". There are these books but as I see it the people reading these book are BIG fans of the Movie in coustion and I will bet my bottom dollar that these people would think the Movie is better... I can only base this on ONE book and ONE movie i have read/seen... And then my "true" answer to this is the Movie... [Buzzman007]
I can see your point... very well put!! Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

i love movies and reading but i prefer movies. it makes ur eyes and ur heart beats faster!! more excitement because of the visuals!! [marites31]
lol yes much more excitement!!! Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

For Accuracy's Sake, I'd choose the book over the movie..though sometimes, I choose the movie for the theatrics. :) [Tonton01]
that makes sense...you have to give credit to the movies that puts things into visual perspective... LOL happyHappy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

id rather read a book than the movie..your right, in movies we miss the true meaning of the whole story, sometimes they even add something to spice up the movie but when we read the the story with a book we see the real meaning of the story and what it gives to inspire us rreaders. [angel_of_charm]
Yes, it is easier to let yourself become part of the book since you get the inside story with reading, vs. watching the movie and not getting that personal information that tells the story. Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

I like reading the book but I guess I can relate more to the movie.I know that someone visualizes the story events but for me,I cant visualize much.Im having a hard time understanding some words and Im lazy to check it out in the dictionary,or in the net. As of now I prefer movies,I also like reading but movies can make me understand well.Maybe I should widen my vocabulary. [sagapo121845]
no, you are right...there are those that need the movie to clarify what they dont understand about the books... Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

i prefer the book, as i love reading too. for me the book give's more in depth of the story than that of the movie because in the movie, it's like fast paced, because it should only take 1.5 to 2+ hours from beginning to ending. while in the book, the author can really express everything that he/she wants with her story. and when i am reading, i visualize everything what i am reading. i have seen some movies that are adapted from a book, and quite honestly i was not impressed by it compared to what i have read from the book. [jayrene]
Yes!! the books play out in your head the way you think it should and then when you see it on screen it isnt at all what you invisioned... for me I choose the book toowinkhappy!! Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

For me I would like to read the book first, because you can imagine about the storyline, the place, character (like face) and many more after that I watch the movie. Some time the storyline in the book is better than storyline in the movie. Just like Eragorn, in fact I just like the story in the book better than in the movie. Well... this is just my opinion. [meisters]
derlila....for me as well...I feel more connected to the characters when I read the book and envision them for myself that way the story is more alive and my own personal world vs. the movie. Happy mylotting!!! and have a great day!! [bookreadermom08]

Hi,I think movie is more better than book. Book is just like worse thinga man who get boring. But movie is that way man always enjoy. [Appu333]

Me really like to watch it in the movie first because I am really lazy when it comes to reading books. My friends are really in to book reading. They have already I think finish the "Twilight" book in just a few days. I am the person who has really no patience in reading books but one time I have red a pocket book because that time I have nothing to do and I was just surprise I already finished reading the book. [rrdelacruz84]

I have always preferred the book over the movie. A really good writer uses words to help you use your imagination to bring the story to life. Sometimes a movie ruins the story and doesn't portray characters like the book does. I haven't read anything in years, I have been too busy for fiction but many books I have read stick in my mind because of the adventure it was to read them. That is thanks to a good storyteller and to me watching a movie doesn't compare. [NuttyMomma]

Read the book first if i can so i can visualize it myself. If i cant watch the movie and then read the book and compare the 2. But that doesnt really help because I cant really visualize the characters orginally because my imagination has been taintedd. [lenamariee]

Hee, I would have guessed you loved reading books. I do too. I always prefer a book over the movie. I don't like feeling like a director has spoon fed me the exact vision he or she had for a story. I like reading and perceiving things as I have come to appreciate them. [makingpots]

For the most part, books are usually better then the movie in my eyes. A good examples would be "Interview with the Vampire". That is both my favorite book and movie as well. However, the book was better. And then later came the movie "Queen of the Damned", that was nothing like the book. Anne Rice Rocks by the way!! [tabsnlos]

I'm not really a big fan of books turning into movies cause most of the time I get disappointed. Movies of today are so commercialized that most if not all get tweaked just to fit a certain criteria even if it's miles away from the book. sigh. it frustrates me, so I think I'm gonna go with books on this one. [maanrodriguez]

i am happy we are the same! yey! i love reading better the book than the movie version. I love book. I am the type of person who would rather read and visualize it on my own inside my head. Like when i read Harry Potter series, the movie was great but there are facts and details in the book that you cannot see in the movie and you will barely understand it unless you really read the book, so i really prefer the book. Like the twilight movie, i also love the book better, it is more romantic plus the movie lack details as well. hehe [jazel_juan]

In most cases, I like the movie far better than the book. Because in the movie it is all put together, it doesn't last forever, and it's just a much easier format. But in some cases, such as that of Brave New World I just felt that the movie wasn't really all that good. Same thing with 1984, not a good movie. And in the case of Bridge to Terabithia, which is one of my favorite books, I was really afraid I wasn't going to like that movie. But I can say I liked the book and movie equally well. And it turns out when I read the book on audio later, that the movie was very close to the both since the author's son worked on it. It was truly a masterpiece. [Pigglies]

I read the book first though it is long when you read the story its amazing also because i can experience and visualize what the author wanted to tell the reader. In the movie sometimes the highlights in the book was not the one you expect it to be. [Ronina]

i like reading books and also like looking movies, in my opinion, this is no conflict,if this book is more interest, i am very like to see the movies, if the movies is vivid and i like the author very much, i will see the book according when the chance coming. good movies and best books are all attacted for me.
