What Kind Of Books Do You Like

I enjoy practically any type of book since i love reading, but i normally stick myself to novels. Among novels, i like many sorts: thrillers, forensic & lawyers dramas, science fiction, historical novels, adventures, etc. I like to mix between best sellers and some classics. What about you? which kind of books do you like to read?

responses and comments:

Thrilers, horrors, history, crimes, fantasy and the good old stories for children:-) The only books i really dislike to read are the sentimental love stories...soap types. [magica]
I think I'm with you magica. I hate reading sentimental fantasies. [eseomame]

I used to really like the heavy romance novels but as i get older i find them a little ronchy. So i have been trying to stick to reading fantasy novels. I am currently on the Harry Potter Series and after they are done i will have to find something else but something similar to it. [tina12679]
Yes the books are better only becasue they give you more of the story and backround. They have to cut the story way down to be able to fit it to a movie. The Goblet of Fire movie was missing alot of what the book had, some think that that movie should of been a 2 parter becasue of all the stuff they had to leave out. [tina12679]

As of late I have been reading a lot of teen fiction; the Darren Shan Cirque Du freak series is one of my favorites but there are a lot of really great writers out there that are targeting the teen and tween crowd. Horror, graphic novels and anything vampire related are usually at the top of my list but I am a sucker for mafia related topics and true crime too. [freak369]
I think i should try some horror like Lovecraft...never read anything by lovecraft...i've only read Dracula and i liked it. Any suggestions about that kind of books freak? [LightninStrike]

I love mysteries and suspense mixed with a little fantasy and romance. (He rode up into the sunset, oh sorry, He got on his space ship and they took off to Alegia.) I love historical novels, adventure, anything except literary or introspective fiction where the hero has a big problem, and thinks himself through it will all around him, the life of the town revolves in steady boredom of "mother cooking, father working, little brother got bit by a bee once, there was a salesman who tried to sell us Amway products' In other words, I do not like novels written as biographies unless of course, armed gunmen invade the house, and he has to defend him family against the brutes. [suspenseful]
I think our tastes are pretty alike when it comes to books suspenseful...suspense and historical are probably my favorites. thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]

I like sci-fi and fantasy novels, though I've been reading classics lately. I also enjoy storybooks and detective stories. [silvergrey]
yeah, detectives ones are great...I used to love Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie Novels when i was younger....they all had the same structure, but i would never get tired of them... [LightninStrike]

I love reading. I read any kind of books. Ome of my favorites are Sue Grafton books. They are about a private detective. The books go through the alphabet. I haven't found them all yet but given time I will. [us2owls]
good luck on your search us2owls! and it's nice that you like reading. [LightninStrike]

I also tend to read anything that interests me. I too stick to novels. I love reading those written by John Grisham which are mostly about novels. I also love most of the genre's that you mentioned above. Just recently I added some non fiction in my reading but they are more into personal finance. They are worth reading and I really learned from these books. [mari_skye]
One of the best non-fiction books I have read was about Ferdinand & Imelda Marcos - and how they became millionaires by not only ripping off their own people but also the American taxpayers - by using the money the USA had provided for the improvement of life for the poor people in the Phillipines for their own selfish greed. Often Imelda went to America to get more money. This book was a real eyeopener - I can't remember who wrote it but it was called Waltzing with a Dictator. [us2owls]

I like a lot of books too and I literally hoard them. I have over a thousand of them already that I had to start reselling them in ebay since I still keep buying a lot of them. My favorite though are those self-help and inspirational books. I also like historical, adventure, fantasy & romance novels. I like to read different books at a time. [cdparazo]
I used to give all my books that I no longer want or exchange them at second hand bookstore. But when I learned about selling them in ebay, it made me think that maybe I could make more money from it. Though I only sell a few books at a time but it did help make ends meet when I become short of cash. It takes time to post them too so I only post few books at a time. My ebay user name is bookwarmth in case you want to check out some of my books. he he he! [cdparazo]

I tend to read non-fiction books. I read a lot of biographies and current event books. Novels are great books, but I don't read them very often. The reason for this is because I can get my entertainment via television and movies. I feel that books give me a better opportunity to learn about any subject that I can think of rather than watching television or movies. [jessicalynmartin]
Biographies is one of the few genres i am lazy to read about really LOL. When i am interested in one, it is because i already know the person, so i don't get too surprised with what i read...really it's not my favorite. Also, people tend to forget about the bad parts and only underline how great they are or they were, and i don't like that much. [LightninStrike]

I am fond of reading books as well, my favorite sorts of books are mostly inspirational books that has more practical insights of it including those Christian Manuals. [add_im]
I don't read many religion books to be honest, but if those are the ones you like, go for it :)) [LightninStrike]

I like reading very much especially those about fashion and history, and I think novel is my favorite.and when read some books,I just like lying in my bed, chew some gums or eating some food,oh,I am the luckiest girl in the world. [angela2006]
about lying in bed, it's great, i agree, but better not do it at night, it's perfect for falling asleep LOL....well unless that's precisely what you're looking for, a relaxing way to fall asleep quickly. [LightninStrike]

I like and enjoy reading. The books I like are dramas, adventures, success, science fiction. [as2006]
thanks for replying as. [LightninStrike]

I like historical fiction ,sci fi and fantasy books. Sherlock holmes and cadfael are some of my favourites. I have a lot of reference type books for gardening and crafts and like reading Autobiographies. There is a small collection of kids books too which I keep to reread for nostalgia. [mihimolly]
I also keep some of my childhood books....there is one about a monkey i really like...surprising eh? hehe...just look at my avatar!! [LightninStrike]

honestly, i don't read much. When i was in college, i do read novels on my free time. But now, as much as i want to, i can't because i don't have much time for it due to work. whenever i have my off, i'd rather spent it bonding with ysabelle. ; ) [joodzki6]
well if you're dealing with your little one then you have a good reason not to read. But if anytime you can retake the habit, i strongly recommend it joodz. [LightninStrike]

journey to ixtlan.. very uplifting.. i wanna read all carlos castaņeda's books.. :) [seksiconnie]
hehe, try to read if you have time.. :) [seksiconnie]

hi there my friend, well me i really love to read books and im collecting it, the books that i really like most is, romance or romantic, adventures, horror, science and technology, history books, and novels. the reason why i love to read books because i can learn alot of things in books and it has a good moral. happy posting [shane1987]
It's cool that you have such a wide variety of books that you like. happy posting you too! [LightninStrike]

I am a book lover and I would like to have all sorts of books but the best books for me were romance and educational books. Im already 33 years old but I still have the signs of hopeless romanticism and I still love to learn more and more things. [hersmart4ever]
awesome attitude hon, keep on learning..one never reaches complete knowledge so it's a permanent challenge... [LightninStrike]

I love science fiction, young adult books, and the occasional mystery. I also enjoy LGBT books as well and some, but not most, graphic novels. [cripfemme]
some graphic novels are fine, i agree...but still i prefer a normal book. thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]

I love reading biographies, histories, novels based on true stories, books about early beliefs and some technical books. [fugsateyista]
Obviously you're more stuck to reality than me when it comes to reading, i assume that you're not such a big science fiction fan then right? [LightninStrike]

Hi, LightninStrike Like you, my genres ranges from horror, science fiction, historical epics right up to thrillers. Books by Stephen King, the earlier Michael Crichton novels, Anne Rice, Pat Jennings and James Patterson are some of my favorite authors. In fact, going down memory lane, i just did a book review of Stephen King's earlier works(some 30 years back) at http:myden-myden.blogspot.com Visit the site if you are interested in King's earlier books. Regards. [Sporean]
Hi, LightninStrike, Sorry for typo error, site should be http://myden-myden.blogspot.com [Sporean]

Mostly I enjoy reading novels and I really like reading stories that take me out of my element. I like to travel to another time frame or another part of the world. I just finished reading 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' from the author of 'The Kite Runner' and it was truly absorbing. Those are the best kinds of books for me as reading is a great way to escape from my own reality. [wachit14]
what kind of novel is that? any genre? [LightninStrike]

I like to read novels sometimes and the occasional classic as you say, but I often like to read non-fiction books as I find most novels to be similar in plot to others that I have read. I enjoy reading non-fiction because I feel I'm learning something useful as well as enjoying the read. Sometimes it can be hard work to read this type of material, but I find that if it's well written it can be just as enjoyable. A couple of books I'm currently reading are Vincent Van Gough's life story told via some of his works in the museum dedicated to him in Amsterdam. I'm also reading a hefty tome on the subject of fly fishing, which I've recently become interested in. It's a quite detailed guide to the methods and different techniques and equipment used in various situations as this type of fishing is extremely complicated. [rhinoboy]
ooo i bet that you are finding that last book really interesting. I must confess that learning books are boring for me lol, but i think i'd enjoy van gogh one...He had such a miserable, but intense life... [LightninStrike]

I love to read books, and most thrillers, and Detective Novels. I love prefer reading books on Science and Fiction Novels. But I dont prefer reading Romantic novels though, I dont know the reason. There are times when I have completed a whole book at one stretch, without leaving any time in betweeen, from start to the end. There are times, when I have been reading books for the whole day leaving just 10 minutes gap for every 4 hours. But I should admit that, my reading has started reducing now, as most of the time Im Online. [senthil2k]
yeah, online reduces time from everywhere lol. wow, a book at one stretch is impressive...maybe too much? lol [LightninStrike]

I enjoy almost any book I can get my hands on to read. Right now, my focus seems to be on mysteries, and most especially on mysteries that somehow involve food in the plot. I am also working on reading some of the classics that I have never gotten around to reading in the past. [TeresaK]
some of the classics are hard to read. For example, i read Red and Black, by Stendhal, and it really took me a big effort to finish it...romantic french novel...not romantic in the current meaning of the word, but in the 19th century one....wow, took me a while. [LightninStrike]

I like to read just about anything I can get my hands on. Novels are my favorite for entertainment value. But I love a good biography now and then. And I am slowly try to get through some classics I have wanted to read. I read one about every 6th book. Then occassionally I want to sit down and read a book in one sitting and I enjoy a good youth novel to do that with. [makingpots]
thanks for answering, makingpots. [LightninStrike]

I like novels and also Christian Self help books, good Catholic literature too, I read quite a lot and on amazon I still have a gigantic wish list...... [book1962]
im glad that you like to read book...well ur nicknames tells so right lol. [LightninStrike]

i always like thriller stories, novels, and horror stories which i like most but i have enjoyed reading while reading leotolstoy [kprabhu]
I've never read anything by him...maybe i should give it a try, after all he's a classic, isn't he? [LightninStrike]

I love nearly all books - Although my favourites are probably factual - about real peoples lives! Having said that I will read almost anything although I am not too keen on Science Fiction but it will do if it is all that is available! lol xxx [mummymo]
So basically you love reading, but stuck to reality better...that's cool! thank you mummy! [LightninStrike]

I love to read so I love all kind of books : romances, thrillers, horror, suspense, adventure, science fiction, comics... Some books about philosophy I don't like. I don't like philosophy so for me it's boring to read some books about it. I prefer suspense ones like Agatha Christie (I just love Poirot!) and Rex Stout. These are my favorite ones. [martinha]
Agatha Christie really rocks...after all these decades and they're still thrilling...even though you know Poirot is going to win LOL. [LightninStrike]

I also stick to novels. Fantasy, murder mysteries, historical, fairy tales, stories based on myths... though sometimes I read factual literature for fun. Some months ago I found Antonia Fraser's "The six wives of Henrik VIII", which really peaked my interest. It helps that I'm a history buff. I will attempt to read classics and/or best sellers just to have read them, but usually it doesn't matter to me. If a book is good, it is good. That's enough for me. [animejosse]
thanks animejosse :) [LightninStrike]

Ilike books on self help..that would be my favourite.. and after that i like thrillers and murder mysteries..and also crime stories, and i also try to solve them too..:P but the thing is i dont find time to read book thesed ays.. i will be ended up with my academic books..:(:( but i love to read books if i get time..:) [syndhujaa]
