[question posted by writersedge]
responses and comments:
I read and collect fantasy books. Some romance, a lot of biographies. Cookbooks out of my ears. Writing how-tos, Comedic humor, and Pagan/Wiccan/Occult books. I think those are the biggest categories. [ehlana88]
You're in Penn, I'm in NY, on the Canadian Border. You'll be closer when you move. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
My books use to consist of historical romance books, but is becoming quite equal with my paranormal romance books....LOL, I started reading historical romance and then came across a couple paranormal romance books and then couldnt stop so now I think they are about equal in how many I have...and I wouldnt give up any of my books I love them!! [bookreadermom08]
Some of the paranormal books are quite addictive. Who are your paranormal authors? I like Patricia Rice. I read all her magic series. There is another author, Christeen Shehan or something like that. I can't find the book right now (disorganized, unfortunately) about people who turn into Jaquars and running from the mob or mofia or something like that. I haven't read it in a long time, but I'm itching to read it again. That is my favorite so far. But the Patricia Rice magic series is really fun. So what paranormal romance books are you reading now? I haven't been able to find much paranormal romance that isn't vampires. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a vampire one once in awhile, but it's getting so they're all going that way. I like variety, like in the magic series, each sister has a different power, now that's cool. Sorry to go on and on, but I really love this kind of thing. Take care. [writersedge]
I have a lot of recipe books, get organized books, house decorating, inspirational , novels, and a lot more.. [katrhina23]
I need to get organized. Do the books help? I love recipe books and inspirational books are cool as well as novels. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
The most common book that people may find that I own are murder mystery/detective books, because those are the types of books that I enjoy reading the most. I read a few novels of other genres, but they aren't as noticeable as the murder mystery novels. Another type of book that I enjoy keeping are those of paranormal books. [dodo19]
Strangely enough, my husband likes to watch murder mysteries/detective TV shows, but not read them. Go figure. What paranormal books do you like to read? There might be something out there that I'm missing. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
my books are Christian fiction, mystery (James Patterson), Classic Literature, poetry, and critical analysis. My boyfriend doesn't read that much, his collection consists of comic books. [rmuxagirl]
I don't think I've ever read Christian Fiction. That must be interesting. Mysteries can be cool. I read a lot of mysteries when I was younger, but I started out with comic books, so you never know, they may lead somewhere. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
My books are predominantly personal development books, Self-help books, how-to books, art books that teach drawing, and health and fitness books. I love learning how to do new things so most of my books reflect this interest...or should I say passion. [imaginearea]
Thank you for joining Mylot, welcome aboard. I used to have a collection of books like you have now. After I helped myself, I only kept a few. After I learned how to do some things, I sold some of them and after I found out I'm better with either videos or DVDs that show me because I can't watch the books and my hands, too, I sold those. Health and fitness, I also replaced with videos, DVDs and the fitness channel. But the first 5 years after college, I had a similar collection to yours. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
science fiction, mysteries, a few romances with sf or mystery bends [ElicBxn]
Anne, Mercedes, and Janet, only ones I've heard of. Thanks and take care [writersedge]
Hi, my books at home are mainly for entertainment, that is fiction - crime, murder mysteries and horror. The serious stuff is all in the office, like management development, motivation, teambuilding and so on. My husband reads only stuff on finance, stock market and investment! [lazeebee]
I never could get into horror, but the rest sound really cool, that you have at home. You and your husband must be very successful and continuing to read material that has to do with your job must be a big help to you both. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
For me, I have travel books the most and then it has to be cookbooks I think (just because I am working on a recipe website). [wondericequeen]
Travel and cooking sound good to me! I would have guessed books on fashion and make up. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
Ha...ha...you knew I would chime in here, RESOURCE books....name it & it's there, with a heavy leaning towards PLANTS of all forms...HEALTH...NATURAL Health, Cooking and loads of crafts! A whole selection of heavy reading for when I can poke my nose in a book for longer than 15 mins....and light non-fiction for the Ferry rides! Cheers! [pergammano]
That's what I loved about when I was out your way in 96. Eagles, they were almost extinct here. Only about one nesting pair left. They've been reintroducing them, but it is still rare to see one here. But in Alaska, esp, they were everywhere. We have beavers down the road at a river from us. We see deer quite often, two nights ago running across the road as a matter of fact. Living in the country is great for that. But seldom do we see Eagles. Pesticides all but wiped them out here. I wonder what it was like up here before the pesticides. Yes, I would have loved it. So you've been on a job site, you have a job, terrific for you! Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
I like Sci Fi, Star Trek, and adventure books. I also like to read comic books. =) [chunijole]
Sounds like you and my husband have reading interests and books in common. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
I have a lot kinds of books. Start with fiction until science. But I have a lot of music books. My music books still dominate my books. I usually use that for playing guitar. But i never read all until finished. Actually i like to read science but my hobby is music, so i prefer to read music book. Reading is a good hobby. [jimbo88]
Classical guitar, very cool. We have two music dealers. Plus we have a second hand book store. Thanks again and take care. [writersedge]
My bookshelves are mostly fed up with different books I used when I was studying... A lot of Nursing books, Drug books, some pocket books, a set of encyclopedia my aunt gave us, which we haven't read yet... a really thick dictionary, a lot of readers digest, candy magazines, medical dictionaries, some history books and translation books, and cook books... hehe... its just now that I realize that we don't have much of a variety.. hehehe [jd107nette]
I see you're from the phillopines, your English is very good. Only one thing I didn't understand, did you mean filled up instead of fed up? Fed-up is slang for upset or disgusted (discusted) with something. Lots of medical books. I like readers digest, too. Candy magazines? That's a new one. My husband loves history. I have some French to English and Englise to French books, mostly dictionaries. Interesting what people have for books at their homes, isn't it? Encyclopedias, mine are soooo old, back in the 50s and 60s. Bet yours are newer. Thank you very much for responding. I think you have some variety and I'm sure you may have more sometime, too. Thanks again and take care. [writersedge]
I can't say that books about World War II make up the largest part of my library but there are certainly more books about World War II than any other subject. [dogsnme]
My husband is getting to have more and more books on WWII, but he has more on the Civil War than WWII right now. He watches a lot of History Channel about both of those. Thanks for sharing your interest in books and for responding. Take care. [writersedge]
The books in our house varies. But I like to collect health, Nutrition, and Fitness Books. Today I just bought two books on health and fitness. ^__^ [jaymeeliz]
Congrats on joining MYlot! [writersedge]
Most books are in the fantasy/sci-fi category. I've been reading those kinds of books since Middle School. Beyond that? I have classics(Victor Hugo, Anna Karenia, etc) funny books(Dennis Miller, George Carlin) and a couple of "real life" books(Nickled and Dimed). Honestly, I don't have many books compared to others because I tend to trade/sell fairly quickly at times. [KaniaHara2010]
Sounds like a good variety, my husband would like many of those, George Carlin was quite the guy, wasn't he? Congrats on joining mylot. Hope you enjoy it here. Thanks for responding and take care. [writersedge]
I love to read horror and mystery books. I also love paranormal book. I have these type of books at home. I have self-improvement books. I also have suspense books and suspense-romance books.happy [cream97]
I never could get into horror, but all the rest sound like neat books that I wouldn't mind reading, too. What paranormal books do you read/recommend? I find they're hard to find here unless you know titles/authors that you're looking for. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
I am a student of science so most of my books are science books ,physics, chemistry ,maths all technical stuff.Next I have a few religious magazines and finally a few novels mostly sci fi ,adventure and detective stories.I rarely collect any thing outside of these interest.Good discussion [ronnyb]
Thank you, glad you like this discussion. I find it interesting, too. Often I get bored with responses from topics that a lot of people like, but this one is interesting even after a lot of people answer. I read lots of detective stories when I was younger. I've sold many of my books from college now that decades have gone by. Detective stories were some of my first books and religious magazines were some of my first magazines. You're taking me down memory lane. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]

Technical problems, I submit 2 sometimes, two. Thanks for responding and take care. [writersedge]
I and my whole family love books. We all collect a lot of books on every subject possible.I also subscribe for some magazines and i love to hoard them.So they are found all over the place, the older they are the more precious they are to me. We have bestsellers, knowledge books, cook books, books on interior design ,non fiction and many thesaurus and dictionaries. I love going through World Atlas and we have 15 different Atlas most of which are in tatters due to use..happy [kiran8]
Wow! Sounds like you have a serious library going there. 15 Atlases, wow! Sounds great! Thank you very much for responding and take care. [writersedge]
I have a colletion of books in my home, but I don't keep all of the books that I buy. I sell some of them or give them away to friends or to charity. I only keep the books that mean the most to me, and they ones which I might want to read again. My collection of books consists of books about traveling, new age books, books about nursing, books about psychology and psychiatry, poetry and a few novels. When I was younger most of my books were fiction, and in the past I have been a member of different book clubs. I haven't kept those books, though. Many of them I gave away to second hand shops, and the shops have sold them and given the money to charity. I only want to keep the books which really mean something to me and the books that I really like, and I give the rest of the books away so that other people can benefit from them. [Porcospino]
Travel and new age sound like books I could get into. The others are interesting, too, but I like those tow the best. Makes me wonder what titles you have. Thanks for responding and take care. [writersedge]
In my home i have the most books of tourism, because it is related with my job, besides tourism i also have some books about laws, because that's my hobby. [psxf5467]
Thanks for joining mylot! Tourism and law, interesting combination. Thank you very much for responding. I never tire of people's reading interests. Take care. [writersedge]

I hadn't heard of any of those. Thanks! I appreciate the response back. I'm getting my reading all set up for the year ahead. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
I am a huge non-fiction fanatic. I read Parenting books, Relationship books, Self Help, medical, business start up, and home renovation and decorating. My man is into sci-fi, paranormal, how-to books, and true crime. [BellasmamaTiff]
I used to read only non-fiction until my husband was laughing and going on and on about a historical romance book he was reading. I read it, interesting. Then I found paranormal romance and that was great! I still read medical, self-help books and lots of books on wild edible plants. I also used to have lots of how-to books until about the 5th one, I figured out that I'm all thumbs. What paranormal titles or authors does your man read? I'm trying to find more good ones out there. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
My book collection is comprised mostly of romance novels. Then there's my school books and reference materials. For romance novels, I like historical romance so I purchase books under that category. Then there's also a few pastry and dessert cookbooks in my collection. [athelene]
Thanks for joining Mylot and responding to my discussion. Take care [writersedge]
It sounds like you've got quite a few books over your way. I love to read but lately, haven't had as much time to do it. I have alot of Psychology and therapy-related books. I also have alot of "chick" books by authors like Sophie Kinsella and Janet Evanovich. I also have several of the earlier Oprah selections that I have not yet read. I got Jon Krakauer's books (nonfiction) for Christmas and I'm currently reading one of them (Into Thin Air). I've got books on drama and acting as I took that up as a hobbie about 15 years ago (although I haven't done it in the last 10 years). I also read mysteries and thrillers and have quite a few of those. I'm a knitter and have developed quite a library of books about knitting and those with knitting patterns. My husband is a big thriller reader and he also likes those medical thrillers (Robin Cook and others who write that sort of fiction). He has many gardening, plants, and yard design books. But mostly, he has a large selection of books on addiction, addiction studies, recovery, and recovery-related topics. [PearlGrace]
That's two recommendations for Janet E as an author. Good range of books, all kinds. You have lots of interests and so does he. Hope you get more time to read soon. Thanks and take care. [writersedge]
