Which Is More Comfortable Laptop Or Desktop

Hi Friends, Computers - This is the magic word nowadays. Almost all humans knows about computers, and most of us have one computer. Or, at least we go to computer cafe once in a week. But, my question is, in which one you prefer to work with, Laptop or Desktop? Which one is more comfortable to you Laptop or Desktop?blink

[question posted by arunmails]

responses and comments:

It depends on what sort of mood I am in! Sometimes it is nice to work on my laptop, if I want to work in my bed for example and other times it is nice not to feel the weight on anything on my lap whilst I am working and therefore thats when I would find using a desktop most comfortable. [UK_Shree]
Yes a laptop is definitely more practical but not always the most comfortable in my opinion. [UK_Shree]

i have a laptop and a desktop but if i am going to choose one then i have to say laptop. why? because in my line of work wherein i have to go travel in different places in my region then a laptop is more convenient and handy to carry. [deity_mei]
Good, you are working even when you are in travel ah? [arunmails]

It's much easier to use a laptop. Plus its very portable. Pretty much for browsing the internet or doing some office work. But when it comes to gaming, Desktops would be kings. You can add some gaming peripherals like joysticks, surround sound systems, and desktops can handle better 3d graphics and large flat screens. [Redhornet117]
Thanks for your comment [arunmails]

I love the portability of my laptop. I have never complained about only owning a laptop. Until recently, as my photography has taken off and I'm doing more editting and manipulating of pictures,I have been thinking of getting a desktop for comfort. Weird, I swore a few year back I would never own a desktop again, and now I am drooling over desktops. [AmAllen]
According to me, desktop is the best than laps... [arunmails]

I would always rather be on a desktop. I find my daughter's laptop too small and I hate not having a mouse to use. She has one of those pads which I just hate using. I find it very uncomfortable on the fingers. I like the way my system runs and the power it has. Though I guess it is nice o be able to take the laptop with you where you go, for the most part hers just stays in one spot like a desktop anyways. Though sometimes I wish my computer chair was a lazy boy and I could just lay back and do whatever online. [vicki2876]
good... even myself to stay in desktop... [arunmails]

i am more comfortable with laptop.i have my own laptop and like to work on it.great advantage of laptop is you can trasport it from one place to other.i am living in hostel and when going to home i take my laptop with myself.although the functions of computer and laptop is same but computer take heavy and take large space.and require additional sound system, keyboard, mouse, speakers which are inbuilt in laptops already. [rehan_andaman]
Good... nowadays most of the computer lovers loves laptops...rasp [arunmails]

well in my house we have both i can use both but i prefer the desktop myself but we use the laptop for watching dvds. [frygirl]
for working you use desktop, and for watching movies you use your laptops ah?? [arunmails]

Oh man, I LOVE my laptop. I'm currently sitting on the floor with it resting on my legs. I love the different options I have to use my laptop, I've laid down on the floor on a pillow, on my bed, outside in the yard, the options are endless. And to be able to take it to work with me is another bonus. Can't do that with my desktop. I've had a laptop for a month and have been loving it ever since I got it. [kris182_2000]

Im comfortable in both actually. But I primarily use the desktop. Most of my parent's files are in there and that's where I surf the internet and do most of my online habits. I only use the laptop for schoolwork and for use of other specific programs that the desktop does not have. For typing, I prefer to use the desktop. I can go fast with the keyboard especially when Im in a hurry encoding files. The laptop's keyboard is also nice but my palms are fixed so I cant really let my fingers 'fly', if you know what I mean.ninja [bjcyrix]

I am more comfortable with desktop rather than laptop. Some of my friends are comfortable with laptops. I think laptops are for people who travel a lot. I think laptop are for business people. Some people likes laptops while others like desktop. [ajithlal]

i personally prefer a desktop computer. the convenience of a laptop is nice but i really do not have a need for one at this time and i hate the keyboards on them and the ones that do not have a mouse. [mikeysmom]

I prefer both.. sometimes, I borrow my sister's Compaq laptop and stay inside my room. When i am in the mood, i turn our PC on and do whatever i have to do online. laptop is very convenient, you can carry it anywhere with you. but you can't upgrade some of its parts. while computer is upgradable. [gerard09]

Desktop is Best for me.I purchased my desktop which is more costlier than sony laptop. Iam a online earner and i work more than 10 hours and i am happy using my desktop. laptop is suitable for only business peoples who always travels and have important works [chimrani]

I personally prefer laptop... I have a laptop for personal & work use... It's just easier for me... I don't like the idea of being tied down to one place while I'm working on something... Also, because of my job, I need laptop anyway... [sk66rc]

I prefer to work with a desktop because it is much faster. I like Laptops also and it is convenient when I want to sit on my couch and watch a game, i usually work on something during the commericals. [ppersaud]

Hello arunmails , desktop for sure is more comfortable for me to use although I also have a laptop. Now traveling I like that I can use my laptop. I have been looking into getting a netbook for size and weight convience. I am not quite sold on the netbook but that fact that a person can still add to it(external) is a plus. [ds6413]

I prefer desktop...because I am bad at using the keyboard of laptops...I don't know...and I also don't like lying somewhere and using the pc...It's uncomfortable I don't know. I like to sit on my comfortable chair..with a cup of coffee and my cigarettes next to me while working at the pc. :D [docipain]

Laptop is more convenient to use, but convenient as it is, in some parts of our country, it's risky to carry especially at night and when we have to take the bus to travel. We may never know when people want our laptop for themselves hahaha. [g_aileen09]
The Laptop is my choice. But It needs a USB mouse connected to it. I have never found a touchpad that I liked. My girlfriends older HP has a good one but a real mouse alternative it ain't. [Buzzman007]

I think Laptop is more comfortable than Desktop, even though more expensive but it saving energy. So, it can reduce the electricity bill every month. Desktop needs UPS or stabilizer to protect it from unstable votage, it consumed more energy than the Laptop's adapter. So, which one is the cheaper??? I have sold my Desktop PC cause I live in small room ...:( I would like to made it more pleasant, I need more space. Buying new Laptop is better reason than renovate my room. Otherwise Laptop is simple and portable. I can use it in everywhere I like,It don't need space anymore. I can connect in the internet everywhere with my 3G modem, or relaxing while online at the cafe that provide free Wi-fi. I fall in love with my Laptop.. bye..bye.. Desktop...!!! segardeh [segardeh]

I love the mobility that a laptop offers. I had one for a little while, but had to get rid of it. Ever since, I have been trying to earn the money to buy a new one. I like my desktop well enough, but I think that I was a lot more prodcutive when I was able to take my work to another room when I wanted to. Now, I sit here at my desk most of the time when I am at home. Overall, I think that I prefer a laptop over a desktop. [lynnemg]

I choose laptop. It is more convenient. [enjoy_2009]

Hi there. I have both of them in our home. I have two laptops and one desktop. Whenever I want to play games I use our desktop, but when I want to use my email or surfing inside our bedroom I use my laptop instead. But most of the times I use my laptop. I love my laptop especially when I travel. I really make it a point that I always carry my laptop with me whenever I am out of town or out of the country. But when I have to write report or some documents I usually like to use our desktop instead of my laptop. I think it depends on the situation and scenario. [pink_lady]

I like laptop, it's small, and easy to bring, but sometimes the laptop is not as good as the desktop, if I want to play games using my computer, I really wish I have a desktop, my work is helpdesk, so I need bring my laptop around the company, and resolve the desktop problem, so I really need a laptop for work. [kindy198636]

I prefer laptop simple because I can go anywhere with and get a lot of stuff done, but on the other hand desktops can be updated easily which I personally think in the long run saves money and time. I guess it depends on whether you go out a lot an preference. I think both are really helpful, but i chose the laptop. [misslovelyfiles]

I use both a desktop and a laptop. Somehow I am more comfortable on the desktop and I feel my typing speed is more when I am working on the desktop. I would always prefer the desktop to the laptop. [mayka123]

hi arunmails, my dear friend, i am having both, laptop as well as desktop. i am very comfortable with both of them. when baby does not allow me to sit on desktop , i have to rush with my laptop to the other bedroom or living room to do my urgent work , other times i always work on desktop when i am at home. i carry my laptop when ever i go out and i it is very convenient also becasue i am in the business so when you are out , you have to show presentations or anything, laptop should be there. spo both are equally important for me . both have equal value. i cant work without either of them. [aweins]

I think laptop is much more comfortable to use. Because it is light and you can carry it anywhere. Especially with the wireless internet connection, you will understand that it is still better to use laptop. I lov eChina [youless]

Difficult goods for difficult requirement. I can say laptop is comfortable since it can be took easily. but I also can say pc is comfortable, because I can turn on it through just clicking the start button . So, for family use, desktop is comfortable, for bussiness use, the laptop is more comfortable. [freerr]

I really prefer my laptop, since first of all its easier to carry around which eventually end up having most of my work stored on it. But Desktop computers have more capabilities than laptops for sure but by time this will end and laptops will probably be the only category of computers. [bilalk]

I like laptop more than desktop. The reason is that laptop is convenient,portable,delicate...........For laptop, you can bring it everywhere, but desktop just can be use in a immobile space. At the same time, laptop have its shortcomings, its charges is more expensive than desktop. But no matter how I still like laptop. [ritefangfangliliang]

I have both and for home I think I prefer a desktop. It is bigger but it is not going anywhere. I like having a big screen and a comfortable keyboard. When I had only a laptop, while working at home I used to switch another keyboard to it. Desktops are normally cheaper and faster and can store more information. [overwings]

I have just moved house and have to get my desktop fixed up wirelessly to the Internet. Meanwhile I am using my laptop and I find it difficult with the small screen and keyboard. I like my laptop because it is new, but I much prefer my desktop as I have it all set up to the way I like it. happy - Derek [derek_a]

i go to desktop which i dont really have a laptop today. The one i been using is the desktop and i am comfortable using the desktop today and most of the days when i feel bored i use the desktop to have some earnings and most of all to sharing of thoughts from the different countries in the world with different situations. [patzel88]

for me at office it is laptop and at home I love to use desk top and by the way this is just because my typing speed is very slow so I use uncomfort with laptop at office but still I have to use that [sonusd]

For me thats depend on your use.....if requires high speed and bigger memory i think desktop would be good but when portability is required, laptop is fit.But this matters is has its on remedy just to fit your requirements. [ninz_pndav]

I usually use a laptop and I am used to it already for a while now. A laptop is more convenient and conventional to use especially if I am travelling. I can bring it anywhere I wanted. Laptops have the same memory capacity and features with a desktop computer so most people prefer to use a laptop. [sophie_dfuss]

Hi!I would like to say that I'm more comfortable using a laptop since I can bring it anywhere in the house.Because of its portability I can do multi-tasking,as in cooking while doing online work. Can bring it a a mall, when I get tired of malling with the kids,I just have to sit on a safe place and do some online work. And of course,it is not space consuming too. [teshavill]

For me, I find that laptops are a lot more comfortable even though their keyboard is smaller. I really like the fact that with mine I can sit anywhere I want and not be stuck in a desk chair all of the time. Although I have to admit that I did add a real mouse to mine as the one that was on there already was simply driving me insane LOL [wahmbrenda]

Desktop is much more comfortable for me. I've been using desktop for years but three months ago I was convinced that I need a laptop so I bought one. However, I just used it for a week then came back to my desktop. Now I barely touch it unless I wanna watch movies on my bed. Actually I don't underatand why people arround me all use laptops. There's no need for them to always carry their computers with them. Some of them even never moved their laptops away from their tables. Then what's the point of having a laptop? With desktop I don't need to worry if it will over heated. The keyboard of desktop is much more comfortable to use. And I can do whatever I want to my desktop, even open the casing to check the hardwares. It seems desktop is a million times better than laptop. I think I will stick to it. [CornicSoup]

The desktop is the most comfortable for me if I have a lot of work to do. But the laptop is more convenient if you want to work away from your desk. I guess it really depends on what you are doing. Playing games is easier on a desktop. Not as easy when using a laptop. So both have their advantages as well as some disadvantages. As for comfort it depends on what I am using them for. [Kowgirl]

I've got both laptop and desktop at home but most of the time I use my laptop. I have an internet based work and it is very convenient for me to work using my laptop because I can bring it anywhere in the house instead of being stuck in the home office area of my house where the desktop is located. [bubbletush]

I do think that laptop is more comfortable. It is portable so I can take it anywhere [ronaldinu]

I prefer the desktop to a laptop. I find it easier to use a mouse or my drawing tablet than to use the integrated touch pad on the laptops. As I'm often editing photos or designing cards I need the finer control. I have a laptop that belonged to my late husband but I've never used it. [Annmac]

I really can't answer this question because I have only own an PC and I never ever has own or used a laptop. I would quest that a laptop would be more comfortable then an PC. Maybe, I will get a Laptop this coming Christmasrolleyes and then I will be able to compare the two. Have a wonderful day.happy Happy myLotting Snowqueen [snowqueen2008]

Personally, I find that desktop computers are more comfortable for me. Laptops have a tendency to make me unconsciously slouch, and that is not good for my posture, and it causes my back and neck to ache. And I prefer the kind of keyboard that goes with desktops. I don't like the little ones on laptops, and that you use your finger as a mouse. [AmbiePam]

Laptop no doubt. I hate sitting at desks anyway so I perfer a laptop all the time. I do have an Acer desktop at work though and I do like it since I have to sit at a desk anyway. I guess desktops are good if you are in a comforteble setting. I just don't like feeling tied down because I like to moving it to different rooms in my house. [csrobins]

i definitely more comfortable using desktop than laptop because i prefer the desktop's type of keyboard and mouse!sometimes the laptop's keyboard very hard and too flat..same goes to laptop's mouse! it's so hard to roll over..my brother even buy separate portable mouse because he can't use his laptop's mouse!i really wish laptop's keyboard and mouse are really user-friendly so it's easier to do work everyday with it!the advantage own laptop is soooo convenient and very light!you can bring it everywhere you want to go without trouble but it's so troublesome to use! [fasyahime]

I like the portablility of laptop. But recently I'm working over time and feeling not comfortable. I have a pain in my neck and back. I think it's just because I'm using a laptop. Several of my colleagues have the same opinion. So I miss the days of using desklop. [xingxingsky]

Well, mine is a desktop and I am comfortable with it. Maybe others who have laptop would also say they are comfortable with their laptops than a desk top. The only thing with laptop is you can take it anywhere you want.. so you can continue on working wherever you go but with the desktop you can just work on it when you are home. But I like desktop more than the laptop Cause the monitor is bigger.lol [Bebs08]

At present i am using a desktop computer which i bought 3 years ago and have got used to it. I haven`t worked on a laptop still so i wouldn`t know whether that is better or the desktop. Unless i try one i cannot give an answer to your question.I was advised against buying a laptop because of the cost, maintainance and upkeep.Since i am homebound the desktop was advisable which i am using to this day. When i buy a laptop, which is not likely in the near future, i would be in a position to answer you question correctly.Good day. [veejay19]

Desktop or laptop with external monitor, keyboard and mouse is comfortable choice but I don't see modern laptops uncomfortable either if they've large keyboard and big LCD panel. It just depends on the environment you use your PC, the room, the desk (put in at least on some kind of table or desk), the lights and the distance between you and keyboard and monitor. [wickee]

I personally like the keyboard and monitor of the desktop. The desktop is also much easier to repair with out taking it into the repair shop and is a generally lower cost option. If you are not on the go constantly, or don't need portability, I would suggest sticking to this sturdy workhorse called a desktop. [CraftyCorner]

I think both Laptop and Desktop have their pros and cons .Many people may like the flexibility of taking Laptops anywhere . However, then people also expect them to be able to work anywhere (or may be expect them to be always working) . Desktops do not need battery charging . Also,I think that Laptops need more care than Desktops . Regards -Ptrikha_2 [ptrikha_2]

Well,I both have laptop and desk top.I use desktop more often because it don't have battery problem. But laptop is more quick-minded, and the keyboared is more comfortable.I usually use laptop when I'm out or when I want to letter something important. [CHORES]

I think anyone new to computer would find laptops more comfortable than desktops. Laptops are comfortable for me as I don't have to trouble myself into hauling the CPU, Monitor, other Accessories and the table that the desktop uses. It is also comfortable as it doesn't consume too much in the electric bill as laptops only uses one plug while desktops would use more.. When you want performance, I think you won't go wrong with a well constructed desktop but, if you want convenience and comfort, you just have to find a good laptop (^_^ ) [ratyz5]

I have a desktop but I prefer to have a laptop when working or typing. It is more convenient to use. The only thing I love using desktop is it is easy to upgrade and repair unlike laptops that you can't just open it and upgrade. For convenient wise I'd go for a laptop. [katkat]

for me its laptop , i can sit back relax and work too with my lappy [amigula09]

Desktop, hands down my reasons being that i can not operate to 100% on a Laptop but with the desktop, you get almost 100% accessibility so, there you have it [s8tern]

i prefer laptop because then i can be comfy on the couch or in bed while on it [moonlitmagikchild]

I think desktop is more comfortable than laptop. Laptop can have a difficult mouse and keyboard especially if you have a small notebook. Laptop on the other hand is good when it comes to being handy. But if I have a choice, I will still use my desktop since it wasn more convenient to use. [Danielle010507]

Hello arunmails, I think laptop is more comfortable to have but I prefer to use desktop most of the time. I like the big screen and the keyboard and the mouse. We don't really need a mouse for laptop but for me, I feel a little bit lost without the mouse. [gr8life]

Practically speaking, a desktop is much more comfortable - the screen is adjustable in terms of size (you can change your screen to something bigger or better, whatever suits you. You can even but two Monitors for one desktop PC to make things more comfortable) and also you can change its angle, I prefer the screen a little bit facing the right because I often title my seat towards the left :) Laptops also tend to overheat if you run too many applications on it - but since desktops have separate machine for the CPU, you won't be bothered by such heat and it has a better cooling system because it actually has space for that. Laptops are generally made for the people on the go - but most professionals have laptops to bring, and desktops at home for comfort. Thanks for the response on my discussion! [oyenkai]
