Wow! I Found This Great Site For Swapping Books!! Check It Out!

For all of your avid readers out there who are bogged down with books and are always looking for new books to read but have limited funds, here is another way to "recycle", help the earth AND..... get more books!! All it costs you is trading your books and paying for shipping, which, in most cases, is quite cheap. You can only trade books that are in good condition, including audio books (cassette tapes and CDs) and, if I am not mistaken, DVDs (but read through to make sure as I JUST joined today). I found this site rather by mistake, whilst looking for something else. It is so great and my dream come true!!!! This is the site (it is NOT a referral link, I earn no credit from having you join). http://www.paperbackswap.com

Thank you so much for sharing this site. my husband is constantly going through books and constantly looking for more books to read. [shymurl]

Wow thanks a lot for putting this link up here. It is hard to find enough money to be able to purchase all the books that you love and I do have a bunch of old books that I would like to get rid of and what better way then trading them for new books that I haven't read yet. I'll be sure to check it out further in the future. [jambi462]

thank you sharing this info here [dio123]

hi nanajanet it is a good site related to books..i like that site..thanks for sharing this..thanks adhavgeek [adhavgeek]

I think I've heard about that site befoure. It's like Make Up Alley where you swap cosmetics. I would love to swap books, but shipping can be heavy for books and I don't have too many books on hand with me. [vanonas]

I've been a member for a couple of years, and it's a great site. I've saved a lot of money by swapping stead of buying. I keep my expenses down as much as possible by just listing paperbacks or very light hard cover books, so that they don't cost too much to ship. They have a sister site for swapping DVDs, but it's not doing too well, and I wouldn't be surprised if it shuts down eventually. I've had a very hard time finding good movies there, so I just used the last of my credits to get a couple of movies and pulled my last DVD off the site. [unusualsuspect]

What a great site. Thank you for sharing it with us. I am an avid reader and I have a lot of books that I've read and no longer need. Now I can get new ones in exchange for the old. Once again, thanks. [creativedreamweaver]

Yes good idea. But I feel pain to sell my books. My book shelf is over loaded .However already I visited the site.Thank you for your good advice.I started a new discussion.I think you will be interested. [bhanusb]

This is interesting! Thanks for posting about this cool site on swapping books. It is cool! I checked out the site and just might join later on when I'll have enough books to swap with. I think the minimum books to list down for exchange is 10? I only have a few I am willing to part with. Also, I am still kinda hesitant to swap my other books. I'm the type who likes to keep 'em in my own collection :-) I'll keep this paperbackswap site in mind for future trading, thanks again! *thumbs up* [MariaD]

I am fastinated with this site but unfortunitly it isn't for Canadians. If I was a united states resident then I would definitly join! Have a great day [nixxi76]
Thank you both for the great links! I'll check them out and probably make some good use with them too. [nixxi76]

Wow! That is simply wonderful! Thanks for sharing this wonderful fine. Happy myLotting Snowqueen [snowqueen2008]

It is only offered to US citizens only. It is a pity though because I am an avid reader and will not be able to participate in it. [kerriannc]
There is a similar site called BookMooch.com which is international. [AnythngArt]

Thank you I'll take a look I wonder how much the shipping would be? [teetee195]
You mail books out "media mail" rate so usually it is less than $2.50 per book. Of course, it can be a little more for heavier books. [AnythngArt]

I bookmarked this site to check out more fully later.. I have just rediscover the library and then I find tons of books at yard sales during the summer.. Since I started going back to the library, I check out two books and when I return them I donate two books, so I feel as if I am recycling and doing a good deed at the same time.. I will check out this site also as I have the winter months ahead and like to read.. I rediscovered the library close to where we live when we got to do the early voting this year.. Our library had easy chairs located around a roaring fireplace, more easy chairs located towards the back of the building right in front of really huge floor to ceiling windows with the curtains opened and a gorgeous view of the woods in the back, nothing but trees, so we now visit more often and spend a good part of the day curled up in an easy chair reading.. Until one of us gets so sleepy we end up almost dozing, then we leave before they kick us out for snoring to loudly, lol.. Thanks for the site, I am sure that I will use it also.. [DonnaLawson]
I wish our library was like yours? Ours is small, in a small town and we are lucky to even have a library! LOL I do the same as you, also, at yard sales, thrift shops, fund raising book sales, etc., but when I have to look for a particular book or author, I find that this site might work well. I will see how it goes for me. [nanajanet]

A very good website, but seems limited to the US. Any idea of other sites accessable to people across the ocean? Thanks. [zhuhuifen46]
You might try www.BookMooch.com as they are international. People agree to ship books overseas (or not, depending on their preference). It works on the same principles. [AnythngArt]

but not staying in the asian pacific region, shipping (especially for books due to it's weight) can be quite costly is it? and also you wouldn't know the condition of the book you're receiving. but thanks anyway for the link. i might use it when i'm desperate for a certain book. =) [regal_aeros]
Actually, they are strict with the condition of books being sent and if you are reported for sending out ones that are in poor condition, they ban you from the site. [nanajanet]

I have been using Paperback Swap for awhile now, and I have been very happy. I have saved so much money by swapping books! I still buy things at the bookstore, but it has drastically reduced my bill. I haven't tried the DVD swap, but I may come the new year. A friend of mine recommended another site, which is very similar to Paperback Swap called Book Mooch (bookmooch.com). I went over there the other day, and decided that I would join there in the new year as well. My friend says they tend to have a better selection. On Paperback Swap, you can create wish lists, and I have had books come through. (They notify you when your book is finally available to trade, so it's good to keep some spare points.) blink Welcome to the Paperback Swap club! Once you start participating, you'll be hooked! happy [AnythngArt]
Great!! Thanks for the information.w00t Also, thanks for the link for bookmooch.com. I will look into that right now. wink [nanajanet]

this is good information. i have no use for books once i read them and i would never just throw them away so this is a nice option to have avaialable. thanks for letting us know. [mikeysmom]

Thanks for the information... Happy MyLotting to you.. [A_Shabina]

awesome this is sweet thnx alooot for sharing! really appreciate it happy lotting and have a nice day! [thecrazyjogger]

Well that sure is good to know. I usually go to garage sales for my paperbacks. Sometimes if you go almost close to tiem for them to stop the sale for the day and they see your browsing they might say. "You can have all of those for $??. Even if it would be something I do not like I would get them anyway and just take them to the club house at my condo. We have a little library there. We just take what we want or leave something we do n ot want. [muscles4me]
Yes, yard sales, book sales and thrift shops are where I have found some great books but sometimes I am looking for specific books or authors and if I can find them this way, I think that it is great! [nanajanet]

Thanks for sharing the site. Regards [jcay_lorna]

thanks , you have provide a greate link and its really very help full for me since I am reading addicted person so this site is really help full for me .. [moneymaya]

There's a couple more out there as well. I rather like BookMooch.com, which is very reliable in my experience. It even allows you to maintain a wish list and notifies you if someone makes a certain book available. Excellent idea all round - I picked up a couple I was missing from my favourite author! [SpikeTheLobster]

Paperbackswap is an awesome site. I've been a member for years. I have about 100 books posted right now and send one out every week or so. I've gotten tons of books from this site, and many were out-of-print or rare ones. I have even found books that were expensive or not even available on Amazon! PBS is how I get all my books these days. They are very user-friendly. I also use other book swap sites like bookmooch and swaptree, but PBS is my favorite! [opalina143]
That is why I think this will be good for me because there are books that I cannot find, or when I do, are too expensive. I have gone to a book trade store but it is far away from me and I rarely can get there. There are none closer to me so this is better because I am always near my post office and it saves me on the gas alone. [nanajanet]

Thanks, for telling us about this great site for reader. But I am not into much of a reading habbits. But I will surely tell about this among my friends. I have many friends who love reading and this site might be of a great help to them. Hope to read your reply soon. Thanks Bye.... [ngty69]

Yes, bartering books is a good idea but the problem is how much would it cost to ship books. I hope it will not be more than the price of the book itself. You have shared a good idea here. Thanks a lot for sharing this to all of us. [hibiscus_mel]
The shipping is definitely less than buying the book. If you are used to getting books for under $2.50, then this would not be for you, but for books that I know will cost me more or are hard for me to find for less, I think that I will like this site. I have bought used books from Amazon.com and, even if they were super cheap, I still had to pay shipping, too. [nanajanet]

That's great; With this way people help peole! thanks to share it! [catabianca]

I am not much of a reader these day, I had some books and I gave them to my local Library, if I do any read ing it is here on the internet, I do have some more books I like to get rid of, but I am wondering should I give them to this site, that you are talking about, or still give them to my local library.happy [notlistening2]
If you do not read a lot, this site would not be worth it for you. You are better off giving them to the library because the ones they do not put in the library, they use at sales to raise funds. [nanajanet]

Since I spend too much time reading, and try not to spend too much money buying books, I have been considering joining a bookswapping site. PBS or paperbackswap, the site you are referring is one of my choices. Booksmooch is one, and I think there is another one, that I can't remember right now. Let me know how it works out for you. Is there selection vast enough? I know in some swapping sites, it gets pretty cliquish and they try to reserve the books for their friends. I would really like to hear your feedback, before I actually join. [wayz12]
I figure that once the holidays pass, as we are very busy, I will get into it a lot. I have just listed one book right now, an audio book, and it is being shipped out already. [nanajanet]

This site looks absolutely awesome!! Thanks for sharing the link. I LOVE reading but the cost of some of the books I would like is ridiculous...this is a great way to share knowledge of reading and cost of the books with everyone!!! I will certainly be utilizing this site and will update with the results of my first trade :) [warmweatherwoman]

Thanks for sharing the website but unfortunately it is not open to those voracious readers like myself who are not within the USA...would have love to be a part of that site since I am a book worm [gtdonna]
